Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 239 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (6,464 of 6,971 positive).
Players praise Jusant for its stunning visuals and meditative climbing experience. [1][2][3] Some find the story thin and gameplay simple, lacking challenge. [4][5][6] A few note the game is short but does not overstay its welcome. [2][7][8]

A whole lot of style. Not a lot of substance. This game looks amazing. The environments are stunning and feel lived in. The animations feel smooth. The music is nice, the game even runs ok on my ageing 3080. The story is threadbare. There isn't much mystery, its fairly obvious what happened. There are just a whole lot of logs of people who are all doing the same thing. Which does make sense, they are all dealing …

Through striking environments and soaring heights, Jusant teaches you to listen. Not only to the wind, the stone, and the quiet moments between each climb, but also to the stories of lives uprooted by thirst and circumstance.

Ever played a walking simulator? This is that, but instead of walking you climb. Like any good walking sim there are plenty of collectibles that flesh out the world and a nice soothing soundtrack, but the real standout is the visuals. The setpieces are incredibly stylish and packed with environmental storytelling; the art direction was so beauttiful that it left me feeling like I wasn't able to appreciate it enough …

Jusant really scratched that Journey itch for me. I just love it when games can convey an emotional story without a single word being said. Didn't expect myself to cry like a little baby at the end, but here we are.

A climbing-centric game with one singular goal: scale the highest peak. Along the way, you'll read scattered letters, stack cairn stones, decipher wall glyphs, and collect echo shells—gradually absorbing the mountain's tranquil stillness and meditative isolation from base to summit. The clean, minimalist UI and exquisite art direction deepen the immersion, while each chapter introduces inventive mechanics that keep …

Players who liked Jusant talk about beautiful art direction and environments; those who didn't talk about lack of challenge and risk in climbing. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Jusant received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Eurogamer, playing an early preview, enjoyed the climbing system, likening it to Grow Home. "That squeezing of the triggers also makes it densely physical. I feel, in some small way, the exhaustion of the climber, because I am gripping this thing along with them". Le Monde, through its subcategory published a test of the game, praising its immersive universe and gameplay. "Jusant strives to bring out the very essence of climbing, organically, through its dangerous beauty and the intoxication of its execution". PC Gamer enjoyed how accessible the game's climbing mechanics were,…

So I've been wanting to get into Linux gaming for a while thanks to inspiration from this community, but I've struggled to get it working, and after a final try today I'm starting to lose hope. positive · AI labelView post →I understand the appeal but there is no risk and the reward is just an "oh, neat looking area." Which is FINE if you could actually save the game. Unfortunately, Jusant does not respect your time. At all. The biggest risk in the game is wondering whether or not it saved recently when you have to exit out and get dinner. It just warns you that recent progress will be lost. But it does not tell you how recent. The game NEVER tells you when it's saving (hint: It isn't the white icon in the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m not really a big fan of Don’t Nod’s games. I think most of them don’t bring much of interest in terms of gameplay (especially when they try to do something with combat, which usually ends up feeling quite unpolished). And narratively — although that’s clearly their focus and where they tend to do better — they always fall short of their premise and never manage to carry the experience beyond the mediocrity of the gameplay. Still, I ended up playing most of their catalog almost by accident…

The Good: The game is basicallya self journey of climbing. The mechanic are very simple but straight to the point, it feels very fluid and exploration to the summit is enjoyable. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a very pretty game with a lovely ambient soundtrack but its basically a short 4 hour completely linear "walking simulator". For a game with no mechanics other than to climb those climbing mechanics are very underbaked. You simply point in the direction of travel and alternate triggers to move your hands, the game will ensure you grab something with in reach and there's no bad holds or way to mess it up other than letting go completely. There is a stamina bar but its pointless as you can…
