Get JC3 instead of this game, this game was bad enough to have essentially killed the franchise. It is made worse if you have played JC3 because you know what you've been deprived of in this game. Beautiful scenery - Gone - The colourful, interesting tiled rooves of Medici have returned to the steel-clad military bases of JC2. The beautiful colours and landscape of the previous games have become a constant grey and …

Remember how JC3 gave us a huge beautiful map with no real incentive to explore it because you could just fly over it like Superman? Well at least in JC3 you would still be forced to interact with individual parts of the map. You would occasionally see civilians, you would occasionally crash in a self inflicted traffic accident and you would get to enjoy the scenery, feeling like a part of the revolution. In JC4 you …

All of the negative reviews wanted this to be the same game over again. Yes, the gameplay changed so it is less mindless repetitive blowing up the same town over and over again. Now the missions are each their own action movie scene. It is still a gigantic map with a ton of stuff to do. Absolutely worth it....on sale.

dont expect this game to be like just cause 3. The gameplay is totally different. But its still fun, and i only paid 10 bucks for it so ill take it. But for 60 bucks? thats a scam. There are a lot of bugs, every military base has the same buildings over and over, maps feel kinda empty. But the grappling hook mechanics.... Thats all i care about here. You can make a flying tank.

found the game fun, idk what all the hate and fuzz is about. if you come to play it with a just cause 3 mindset sure, but you should approach it like a new game with extremely fun sandbox mechanics and total freedom on how to play and complete missions, i've honestly sunk several hours a day on it because i just find it fun

The crowd is split on Just Cause 4 Reloaded: 135 recommend it, 115 don't. Which camp are you in?
Critics, per Wikipedia
According to review aggregator Metacritic, Just Cause 4 received "mixed or average" reviews from critics. While the open-world gameplay, controls, graphics and soundtrack were praised, its story, mission design, cutscenes and voice acting were criticized. The game was also heavily criticized by users who noted the game's regression in graphics quality relative to past installments in the series, in particular pointing out the greatly simplified water effects and flat-looking vegetation. This led to Square Enix developing a patch in an attempt to alleviate these complaints, with partial success. The PlayStation 4 version of Just Cause 4 sold 16,100 copies within its first week on sale in…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get this game expecting it to be anything like JC3. There are no bases or cities you liberate. Objectives aren't clear. Main missions have very long cutscenes that are unskipable. Controls are changed from JC3, and the controls for the grappling hook are extremely confusing as well. Complete and utter ♥♥♥♥ compared to JC3. Don't waste your time on this junk. I should have just listened to my brother. :')
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this game about 5 years ago myself, just for grins. Replayed through JC2 (was a bit of a pain since free falling goes so fast its sickening) and JC3. I forget how bad this game was. Only played for about 10 minutes after starting a new game after not playing for 5 years. Still, the performance was terrible, not as smooth as JC3. So gave up. WOULD NOT recommend buying this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dude, play Just Cause 3 instead. If you've already finished that and was keen to try Just Cause 4 then don't even bother. After finishing JC3 and loving the ♥♥♥♥ out of it, JC4 is so underwhelming and barely even playable. I can't even bother writing a long and proper review on why to not play this game. Just DON'T. I'm trying to help
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've owned it for years and have only managed to play for a few hours total if that says anything for you... I think you have to try and frame JC4 as a stand alone game because any comparison to JC3 will leave you incredibly disappointed. As a standalone game it has some nice combat features, the grappling hook and its upgrades are pretty cool, being able to fly / drive a variety of vehicles is fun. However... the game feels empty like my soul.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this on PC solely for mods and DLC, had already played extensively on PS4. I do believe it's the "best" Just Cause in terms of sheer content and traversal options, as well as diversity of environment, the tether options are also extremely fun. THAT SAID, it deleted my save after a while, losing that progress was the sole reason I uninstalled this game a few months ago, I just reinstalled it after getting more storage, I tried saves online, some don't work, some don't even want to let me…

I forgave that the voice acting was worse than the last game. I forgave that they locked all the tech upgrades behind vehicle stunts. I forgave that most of the map is empty and uninteresting. I forgave that the Heat mechanic was worse than the last game. I forgave that the menu system was worse than the last game. I forgave that the territory…

No (specifically because some of the gear challenges/protect missions) BUT I had an insane amount of fun playing it! I went through my catalogue today and decide you know what.. let me go and play JC 4 and see what it’s about. Surely it is as good as JC 3 was at minimum right? RIGHT? Boy was I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wrong. This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and a complete embarrassment to even play after…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before the review the best advice - when you start the game head to options and disable "Leaderboards" or your game will be constantly freezing trying to compare EVERY little action to other players, which almost made me delete it in 15 minutes after start. After disabling runs smoothly. As for the game - it is 20 hours of pure chaos, typical for this series, same plot as in other Just cause games - trying the destroy the one bad guy in charge of the country. Gameplay is awesome - plenty of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review after rolling credits: Just Cause 4 I swear I was ready to give this game a thumbs-up. It is capable of looking pretty nice sometimes. Not always - maybe not even often - but sometimes. The weather effects, which you only occasionally see and even more rarely are able to admire, can deliver moments of awe. The missions, mostly ranging from mediocre to bad, do have occasional highlights. In fact, it even manages the impossible task of adding a third native traversal option to Rico's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The intro to Just Cause 3: Shooting rockets while standing on an airplane flying over a war zone The intro to Just Cause 4: "Follow the pipes Rico" I haven't experienced the same crashing or technical issues others have, my gameplay has been rather smooth and unproblematic. Instead, I'm focusing my review on one thing: the fun factor, something JC4 distinctly lacks. The Just Cause franchise has evolved into a very clear gamplay loop: blow something up, go to the next thing to blow up,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played JC2 as a kid, after decades I decided to get Just cause 3 and 4 I had so much fun with JC3 after finishing it I decided to jump right into JC4 and the wave of disappointment hit me so hard. I read the reviews while it was installing but held out a small level of optimism for it against the negatives, now having played it though I can see that the reviews definitely weren't hyperbole or lying in the slightest. Although at a core, this isn't a bad game, its pretty, plays nice and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(TLDR): Only tornado i experienced in this game were my laptop fans. Bought the complete edition. Crashes constantly (within 5 minutes). I've spent more hours trying to fix the problems that it has than playing. Troubleshooting done: (one at a time, isolating each change and the last try all of them together) Disabled in-game leaderboards/trackers: To prevent the game's social features from stuttering the engine. Switched to Borderless Windowed mode: Attempted to fix hard freezes…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To sum up JC4 in a word, it's disappointing. I've heard that development was rushed for the sake of putting the game on a new engine, and it shows everywhere. Everything is either blandly adequate, a downgrade from JC3, or added for the sake of meeting expectations. Sure, the map is larger than JC3's, there are more vehicles than in JC3, almost every weapon has a secondary fire that's either interesting or useful (occasionally both), the grappler has all sorts of added functionality (and/or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a fan of the series but I have mixed feelings about this particular game. Good things: - Beautiful map and nature. - Graphics and visual effects. - Optimization. - Character interacts with objects very naturally. - Feature-rich grapling hook. Bad things: - Killing enemies is an absolute waste of time becasuse they respawn constantly. - Weird key bindings and lack of full mouse support. - Cars feel like toy. - Weird FOV and it cannot be configured. - Weird camera. - Constantly repeating…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a really good game to play especially if you grab it on sale. I kind of understand the hate around the changed style of progression from liberating camps to regions by doing missions but this alone imo shouldn't stop you from having fun. JC4 is exactly what JC3 is at it's main core - a sandbox where you are encouraged to blow ♥♥♥♥ up, move around like Spider-man and unlock new toys to play around with. The story is the same as before, you're Rico, bad guy trying to exploit people, liberate…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First - if you haven't played the third game, go play it. It's better at training you on the realities of Just Cause. Saving yourself from a deadly fall by grappling the ground and pulling yourself down faster isn't exactly intuitive! When this game starts out, you'll be starting with all the grappling abilities you had at the end of JC3, and you'll quickly be given new ones on top of that. So, what's changed since 3? Destroying stuff in towns is gone. No more trying to coax enemies into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unlike Just Cause 3, Just Cause 4 doesn’t rely on blowing up red-marked structures to advance. Instead, you expand the frontline by completing missions and operations. Just Cause 4 removed the old “red building destruction” mechanic. Progress now comes from missions and pushing the frontline, while destructible objects are scattered in bases but not marked on the map tldr: they just remove the fun
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible game.. not even close to JC3 I can't even get to the storyline because of the glitches and awfull water graphics.. it's almost 10 years since release and they still didn't released a patch to fix this.. Dissapointing.. :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game, it's just not as good as Just Cause 3, which is a shame. I'd recommend getting it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →JC3 was great, this is not. The graphics are a bit disappointing, true, but carefully chosen stupid changes to gameplay to make the missions a chore and the overabundance of almost mandatory unfun gimmicks are real stars.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is unfortunately frustratingly awful, I cannot recommend it when Just Cause 3 and 2 exist, if you have never played Just Cause I recommend playing 2 then 3, the first one is very dated and doesn't hold up all that well, and 4 does everything worse than 3 and leaves out all the stuff that made 3 and 2 so good. Just Cause 3 is easily the best in the franchise just go play 3. I can only recommend this game if you want to play all the Just Cause games and in that case find a way to get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Square Enix dropped ball on this one. While weather catastrophes were fun, the rest of the game felt like slopified JC3. Due to this and many not fixed bugs I cannot recommend this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On the one hand I really enjoyed playing JC4 because it's just an open world where you mess with things, shoot enemy tanks and enjoy the arcade feeling. And I actually had a blast playing it. HOWEVER, this game is a significant downgrade from the previous installments of the franchise. It's simply not as well optimised, not as beautiful, buggier, more arcady in a sense. Oh and the story is trash. So I'd say you'd be better off buying JC2 or JC3 especially when they're on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like JC4 quite a lot honestly, but it's undeniable that for every two steps forward it takes from JC3 it takes one back and that truly is unfortunate. Rather than go on a lengthy tangent I figure it'd just be easier to do a pros and cons list (primarily compared to JC3) PROS: 1. Much better grapple loadouts, not only can you have 3 unique loadouts equipped at a time you can actually individually customize each tether with distinct mods like retractors, air lifters and boosters for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it fine a few years ago and wanted to pick it up again, but it freezes on High End Hardware with every Fix you can find. Not playable! Do NOT recommend!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything is worse than Just Cause 3. all the controls were changed for no reason to buttons that don't make any sense (for example who on earth thought using "1" as the inventory button was a good idea???), the graphics are worse, performance is terrible despite having good PC specs especially for an 8 year old game (stuttering, graphical inconsistencies, etc.), the UI is worse, etc. Not worth the money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[DISCRETION!, scroll all the way bottom for TLDR unless you love hearing my complain. be entertained for what is worth] it's JC2 with a bit of JC3 minus JC3 and added with bugs and crashes for flavour (you actually need to restart your PC to have control again, force close does not work). Looks worst than JC3 somehow in quality, story writing is the same one you can find in disney movies maybe the biggest red flag was that they took 7 years to make this, 4 at most for any kind of game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i've witnessed a murder. the murder of the just cause series, cause this game is legit nightmare fuel.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken, boring, repetitive mess. Go here, destroy the generators, protect this guy, over and over and over, no variations to the missions. The world is barren, with the NPCs that do spawn flying into mountains or driving off cliffs. All the vehicles are too slow, even the jets, to make the world seem larger. What a joke compared to Just Cause 2 and 3.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hugely downgraded game from JC3. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good mindless fun. That's how i'd define this game. I'm a very simple man to please. I shoot gun, I grapple away, I parachute through the air, I blow things up. It's very entertaining even if it's a bit dull in some areas. I do wish there'd be at least one more installment to round out rico's story since the DLC kinda dropped a bomb on us at the end. But there's literally no public desire for it. so I suppose I'll just have to dream another day. Solid game all around
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish steam had an "eh" rating for games, Just Cause 4 feels like one step forward and two steps back from its predecessor. If you're looking for more Just Cause, this will scratch that itch, but if you're coming fresh from Just Cause 3, you'll be in for a bit of disappointment.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you pay for a game that is available on steam, that game should work on modern PCs. This game does not. The game completely freezes and stops responding, has to be force quit. This is a well known issue that people have been discussing and asking the developer/publisher for help with for YEARS and they have not bothered. They will take your money and let you have a game they know is broken. For the little time that the game does run, it performs terribly and stutters and drops frames all the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After JC3 it feels like strong downgrade. Endless bugs, plot is not interesting enough, one big island without any activities feels empty
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They had the perfect game with Just Cause 3 to ruin it with allegedly innovative gameplay, story that I forgot entirely, "better" enemies that never mattered and conquering grounds which felt weird. Also the praised weather physics hardly mattered that I'd need to mind a tornado.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I enjoy playing, usually just as a sandbox and not the story, I cannot recommend. It is an obvious PC port, with some of the worst controls of any PC port. The whole menu design and user experience has not been changed or improved for PC players with mouse and keyboard. While the story seems interesting, the game feels emptier and destruction is less satisfying and impermanent compared to JC3. Nice to have a radio in the vehicles. I think anyone playing this with JC3 expectations will be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just as an open world mess around game this is a brilliant example, its a great example of a pretty cheesy action film which is endearing in its own right Tons of toys, lots of explosions and really relaxing to just wingsuit around while very high
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The driving is terrible. They've put a delay on analogue stick inputs for driving so you can't keep within your own lane on bends as it will keep turning beyond where you're holding the stick. They've also delayed fast inputs, while slow inputs have no delay. It literally feels like there's a weird dampening on the steering so it takes 3 seconds before the steering catches up to where your analogue stick is. So it's just awkward, completely unintuitive and impossible to get used to. I swear…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't palyed it since launch but it feels a bit worse, has worse version of mechianics from previous games a almsot completely empty world and I did not once see the weather effects that was this games big seeling point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The amount of broken mechanics make almost nothing other than wingsuit traversal fun. Planes and jets operate in this strange high-fantasy sense, as in you need to use a nitrous oxide boost to fly at any significant pace, then let it recharge to have power again while losing speed and altitude, like some kind of powered glider.. I'm not sure who made this choice but it's so groundbreakingly disappointing that they may have thought jet engines are too op or something so, "here's a boost and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ehhhhhhhh..? JC4 was disappointing at the time it came out and still sort-of is. If you're going to get any one Just Cause game, get JC3 instead. If you've already played JC3, then I'd say JC4 is worth giving a look at, but it's *definitely* not as consistently fun as JC3.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the time of writing this review, I have just 100% Just Cause 3. And intend the same for JC4. So, I’ll be revisiting this review as I complete the game. Now, please remember I’m coming into this game assuming its mechanics are similar to JC3. First 5 hours: My initial response reflects my previous review, negative… The game feels off, with mechanics that feel clunky. For example, movement. While I expected there to be some changes, I didn't expect to change most of my keybinds. On top of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If we don't get a Just Cause 5 Imma riot. Cause this game has some issues and most people don't seem to like the progression but I don't think it makes any sense to kill a franchise because they tried a really cool idea but it wasn't liked by most. The whole army and front lines system is super cool. It's mostly the quantity of the challenges that don't give you anything and you can't easily tell that I have an issue with, within the new system. Everything besides the progression is either as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is really lackluster and inconsequential. Boils down to stopping weather modification with a side story of learning about Rico's father. Leans even prominently into the Mexican ethnicity of Rico and revolution as seen in JC3. But this game is basically a carbon copy of JC3 in every imaginable way with little to no innovation besides a single game mechanic of tornado's. The game is really low effort from the producers and it shows. If you like fast-paced action arcade games this is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This would make more sense if they remove the "Just Cause" part and released it for phone gamers. Even Rico knew his name was being used for a non-just cause. Not a big fan of commander giving orders to troops type games. Just wind me up and let me loose. Let the game figure it out if I already cleared the entire map before doing the main mission. I don't even know any game titles to compare it to other than the zombie ad ones for your phone. I just don't play those "send troops here" style…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How on earth is this game SO BAD?! JC3 (and 2!) were awesome. All over the top, very easy to get into, clear objectives. JC4 is vague, intentionally complicated, has a horrible story and is allround just plainly horribly badly made. Skip it. It's borderline unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know why people hate this game so much. Yeah, maybe the mission design most of the time isn't as good as JC3, and sometimes it gets annoying to control areas, but it's not something extremely bad; it's just not the best. Also, the game doesn't feel like a generational difference compared to JC3 and JC2. On the other hand, JC4 feels more alive and has a diverse map and new grappling hook features. Also, the hoverboard in the DLC is a great feature, especially on water; it's very useful.…

Genuinely has no replay value and brings nothing new to the table, play JC3 if you wanna play a good modern just cause game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who had never played Just Cause before, I absolutely enjoyed this game. I think there is no other game that celebrates such total chaos and experimentation in an open-world game more than Just Cause 4. Especially the fact that this game handles all that action with a good performance is another plus point. Yeah, besides that, there isn't anything in particular I disliked about this game. Sure, the story is garbage, but I didn't come here for the story anyway. And I know that the…
