Katamari Damacy REROLL
Developer MONKEYCRAFT Co. Ltd.
Katamari Damacy (lit. 'Clump Spirit') is a 2004 action puzzle video game developed and published by Namco for the PlayStation 2. The game's plot concerns a diminutive prince on a mission to rebuild stars, constellations, and the Moon, which were inadvertently destroyed by his father, the King of All Cosmos. This is achieved by rolling a magical, highly adhesive ball called a katamari around various locations,… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Never go backwards when playing titles of a series. Picked up the newly released once upon a Katamari, loved it and then went and got the remake of Katamari 2. Loved that one as well... so the next course of action was to get this one. But man. Compared to the other two. This one just feels bad to control. The visuals look way worse and the sound balance is way off? Like it is still fun but I would actually tell …

Katamari Damacy is a game about making your circle bigger. You roll around the titular katamari, gathering all manner of things to increase its radius; this is helpfully displayed in the top-left, along with a circle that shows your target size. Only items whose size is less than or equal to your katamari's radius can be rolled up, so optimizing your route through a level such that you're always just large enough to …

One of my favorite games of all time! This game is bursting with so much charm and personality that I have yet to find anything else quite like it. Featuring unique and entertaining mechanics, this game stands out for its silly humor rather than a traditional narrative. The soundtrack is so good I still listen to several songs frequently and I've known the game since it came out for the PS2 Just a short, sweet and …

Think of the game that you play when you've had a bad day, or when you're upset and just want to relax and feel good. This is one of those kind of games. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but it just has... that *feel* to it. As soon as the theme song starts playing on startup... you can feel the stress just melt away. Just watching the opening movie of the game is enough to bring my anger down a couple of …

Very silly, very funny game. The gameplay is great although it can feel a bit hard to control as well as you want... it also lasts just long enough to not get boring and repetitive. Because of the control, I don't particularly care to 100%. $30 is a bit of a hard ask. Its quality, sure, but the game is really only 5 hours long if you dont care to 100%. Pretty sure this goes on sale for less. Perfect for Steam Deck.

Critics, per Wikipedia
Katamari Damacy enjoyed moderate success in Japan. The game was sold at about two-thirds of the price of a new game at the time. It was the top-selling game the week of its release with 32,000 units sold, and sold over 155,000 copies in Japan by the end of 2004. Namco, however, originally estimated that over 500,000 units would be sold in Japan. The game was not released in PAL territories such as Europe and Australia since publishers thought it was too "quirky" for these markets; Electronic Arts picked up both sequels, We Love Katamari and Me & My Katamari, for release in Europe. In North America the game was acclaimed by critics, and was mentioned and praised on TechTV, and was a featured…

You begin by rolling up something small like a pin or ball of yarn, and by the end of the level, you're rolling up entire cities. Looking forward to Once Upon a Katamari in a few weeks!

negative · AI labelView post →Random Game of the Day Day 596 - Katamari Damacy: Reroll It's not my favorite game in the series, but it's nice to have it ported to more modern consoles and the ability to play it on the go. If you're just getting into the series, this is a pretty good place to start
neutral · AI labelView post →I played this game during one of my low points in my life. I got curious in this game because its about destroying cities and ruining people's lives. But for some reason, it made me inspired to go on with life. The premise of the game is an alien prince suddenly made stars vanish and wanted to reconstruct the star systems using materials found on earth. You will start collecting small stuff first (from items size of a rat) by rolling into them and as the game goes by, you go collecting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello friends, Today I will review the game Katamari Damacy REROLL. It is basically a improved version of the game with upgraded graphics. It is still the same game that appeared on ps2, but with pc improvements. It is as surreal and ludicrous as it was then. Players play the prince of the universe and must fix a mistake their father, the king of the universe, did to all the whole universe. Apparently, he was drunk and that is why he did it. Now it is the players job as the prince to fix his…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Katamari Damacy REROLL (PS4, 2018) Very nice start to the series, I'm glad I gave it a try. There was jank in some places, but considering this was originally a PS2 game and it's basically unaltered, I'm willing to give the 2004 game devs some slack. Amazing soundtrack, as if it even as to be said

neutral · AI labelView post →Katamari Damacy was released in 2004 and was unlike anything available at the time. It not only spawned the Katamari franchise, but it also indirectly supported the growth of absurdist gaming in North America - my opinion of course. Personally, I loved it and my love of all games Katamari. Katamari Damacy REROLL was released on Steam in 2018 and I'm commenting here in 2026. Neat. The best thing to say about this game, and this port, is that it's the best place to get started in Katamari.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's freaking Katamari Damacy! This game is a remake of Katamari Damacy, originally released in 2004 on the PS2 in North America. I never owned a PS2 as we were a Nintendo household and only had a Gamecube until the PS3/360 generation, but thankfully I had friends that had PS2 and I was a total nerd who immediately gravitated towards any videogames when I went to friends houses, so I got the chance to play Katamari Damacy early on, My friend hated the game, but I was attracted by the very…

neutral · AI labelView post →Katamari Damacy REROLL is what Video Games were made for. The concept is so ridiculous and the Story so far out there that it could not exist in any other medium. You play a tiny being which job it is to construct a giant ball of things to return the starts to the sky, because a certain something had a lot of fun knocking out all stars…like ALL of them, and then decided it was a bad decision… So you roll through various levels, and grow your magical “everything sticks to it” ball and…

Props everywhere, random sht that don't make sense in plain sight, every level, every area, pure fever dream for everything you see Music sounds like what I imagine crack feels like, which fits perfectly with the game While chaotic, it's impressive how much can be done with the same level setting, by simply changing the props, and expanding the area bit by bit Big…

Coming from the imagination of Keita Takahashi, Katamari can best be described as a game that hits on that sense of childhood imagination where as a kid, you may have said, hey what if I could roll up the whole world into a ball.
