Players praise the blend of card-based village building and deckbuilding combat. [1][2][3] Some find the game too easy and repetitive, with shallow mechanics. [4][5][6] Several note it scratches a similar itch to Stacklands but with mixed execution. [7][8][9]

The game play loop is trivially easy and kind of boring. I kept playing hoping id find it interesting but every fight is basic and easy, no real customization just get the next item you are told to build. Basically a brainless 5 hrs not worth 10$. Good art, but boring gameplay

I like both card based roguelites, and stacklands - esque games so I thought this game would be perfect for me. Unfortunately, it feels like this game, in attempting to do both, has missed the mark on what makes both genres fun. In Card based roguelites, balatro, STS, etc, the fun is in trying to break the game, and customize your deck in a way that feels fun and unique. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an …

A cute Stacklands-like that alternates between the town management gameplay loop and short campaigns of Slay the Spire combat, for full card-based aesthetic synthesis. Since the recent patch, I consider the latter half of the experience to be robust, and the game to be a satisfactory submission to its niche.

Fun new take on the Stacklands-style genre, this time with a fun deckbuilding roguelike twist. Great design, music, and addictive gameplay. https://youtu.be/Lz6o7tNhHmU

neutral · AI labelView post →Basically a cheap mash-up of Stacklands and Slay the Spire that does both worse and adds nothing. The only redeeming facet of this game is the art direction, but even that is implemented in a way that leads to poor UX.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tbh im not a very big fan of card games which are tagged with city building together . I usually like to play only card battle games which leads to the progression, But this game made me feel quite good man . I Liked the animations and the ui , everything is quite perfect. But, and there's always a "but," it's got a learning curve steeper than a mountain goat's climb. You're juggling resources, cards, and the whims of a god who apparently gets his kicks from making your life difficult. It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EDIT: The dev left a comment that they had addressed my complaints. They addressed cards shaking everywhere and the board getting disarranged. Arguably addressed permadeath, except they made it a buyable that I have still not seen even once in trying to give this a second chance. They addressed none of the rest. I still would want to see: - No zooming in on events (Corollary: stop popping open the list of recipes every time I get a new recipe.) - If you're gonna zoom in on events anyway, zoom…

neutral · AI labelView post →Game tries to be a mix of Stacklands and Slay the Spire and falls a bit short in comparison to either one. In the city builder loop the resource management and vision (recipe discovery) mechanic makes it entirely possible for you to be unable to proceed. The Slay the Spire stuff is a tad better but is pretty simple not requiring near as much strategy (though I admit time of review I haven't gotten far and this could increase as the game proceeds). In the 30m I've played I already ran into one…

positive · AI labelView post →The design choice of making Kalades eat items in use, even though there is plenty of other foods RUINS the game. It's almost imposible to get hives build, because if you don't get the bee early in the day, Kalades will eat the bee from the "building project" that are 90 % done!!! After several attempts to get a second hive build to start making marmelade, and getting the bee eaten every single time, I finally ragequitted the game!!!! Sad, because the game is actually great, but this mechanic…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It combines two great games, stacklands and slay the spire and makes itself absolutely tedious and boring. How do I build the bridge? Where do I find the card? Not going to tell me, GREAT! I've done everything I can think of in multiple playthroughs and it just isn't worth the time. I'd refund it but it was paired during a deal with a game worth having and I don't know if refunds work that way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In Kaya's Prophecy, you have two different mechanics. There is the stack cards mechanic, where you stack cards combined with a worker to make a new item. For example, you have found an area card; here you can get resources when you place your worker card on it, but you can also make other items with those resources. This is not in the game, but as an example to clarify this: you can use wood and a string to make a fishing pole. Exploring areas of making things costs time, and the game has a day…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i was going to have an early night. that was 5 hours ago. its gone midnight now. if you like stacklands from sokpop its very similar concept but with more of a focus on progression instead of automation. great game so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →store.steampowered.com/app/3477560/... - Kaya's Prophecy is a very solid stacklands-style game, but with turn-based, Slay The Spire combat and adventures- which I REALLY love. Stacklands' meters & combat system stressed me out, so this felt incredibly good to play.
positive · AI labelView post →In our game Kaya's Prophecy you can play with Koa or Kiana. Which one are you in comments ? #indiegamedev #gamedev #steam
neutral · AI labelView post →I found this game a little tedious, don't love the main loop. Combat is too easy, to the point of being unchallenging, and the village stuff isn't strategic, it's just rolling a random resource able again and again. There are interesting concepts here, but I can't recommend this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept is good, and there is some definite charm. The card combat is only deep enough to hold your interest for a few fights, and the grind continues far beyond that. Your deck does not change much over the game and the encounters are very easy. The town progression is also quite simple, but worst of all is missing any kind of automation or quality of life features. A large village is a painful experience of constantly replacing elements that knock themselves around a cramped area. A…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a good idea to this game but the combat feels meh and there is kind of a lot of waiting and confusion about what and why to sacrifice to get more cards. I've heard its a take on another style of card village builder that is very well loved but I don't get the loop? Hard to express but I can see where its going and I don't want to continue playing to get there I would love to see something like this and a really indepth card battler mixed together to create a good roguelite tbh
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great and beautiful game! I appreciate that I can repeatedly organize the cards on a large "map" and customize the village according to my tactics. The game allows for a free and creative approach, which is great for players who are fed up from the "routine". GG
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its just such a slog to play. I tried to power through and get it over with but everything just feels like they take 50% longer than they should. the next fest demo had some slog but its so much worse here just play stacklands or cult sim.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently unplayable on steam deck, won't accept inputs on certain parts which get you stuck in the tutorial :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really scratched the itch that games like Witchhand and Stacklands have left. Combat gives this its unique spin and I've enjoyed it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's similar to Stacklands and Witch Hand. While I think it's a positive that it's less finicky and demanding than Stacklands it just doesn't compare well in quality to Witch Hand. I recommend buying one of those two to see if you like the genre. If you do then get this one at 50% off maybe. The Endurance and Pious achievements are also bugged. I didn't get them when I should have.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mix of card-based village-building with card-based combat (during exploration). It still has some QoL issues (e.g. sometimes cards aren't stacking correctly), but it was already improved since the playtest/demo based on feedback. I enjoy it anyway. I like the art, atmosphere and the progression. There's not a lot of freedom though, you pretty much have to play it in one way. So if you don't like that, better stay away. After around 6 hours, it looks like I'm about 3/4 done. I'm taking it very…

neutral · AI labelView post →So far, the game is a waiting simulator. I don't really understand the point of these mechanics. "You must have xxx by the end of the day or face the consequences" but then are offered no ability to actually get those items, so you just wait through the game day with 0 interactions so you can face the consequences at the end. Why isn't there an ability to explore, at least once a day, on your down time? I'll give it another 30 minutes or so -- maybe there's just something hidden in an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The updates made to the gamer are a huge improvement. Combat feels challenging but fair, the village building seems to be less punishing which means I have a bit more freedom to choose what I build. I'm kinda addicted right now
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A rather simple game, but absolutely addictive! I love the art style and setting, and the gameplay had me hooked from the very first second. It gives me some “Cult of the Lamb” vibes paired with deckbuilding. Perhaps a hard mode would provide a little more replay value and challenge to the game, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun new take on the Stacklands-style genre, this time with a fun deckbuilding roguelike twist. Great design, music, and addictive gameplay. https://youtu.be/Lz6o7tNhHmU
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the stacklands part but the combat just doesn't fit. Having that be only half of the game leaves it feeling flat and tedious. Whenever an enemy interrupts the day it feels like a chore to take care of them. I just play the leftmost card because it hardly matters. Its actually pretty hard to die because shields are maintained between turns, which means it doesn't really matter when you play it. There's just very little strategy during combat, as if you are never expected to lose.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish that there was a middle option for recommending games. Honestly if you enjoy games like Stacklands you will probably find some enjoyment out of this game. This game isn't terrible by any means. The Balance of this game seems a bit off. Resources aren't consistent, meaning food seems to be a constant struggle. Because the tribute system adds food for every villager plus when you start to collect cards it will add food needed for every threshold instead of growing a village you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun. Not amazing but decent. The difficulty is relatively easy unless you slip, and then trying to get back can be a pain. Has only happened to me once. I think I'm very near completing it - expecting the whole experience to clock in around 8 hours. It'd be a Okay review if that existed
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After finishing - Edit ---- The game lasts about 5-7 hours for a full playthrough. It has some difficult patches but really it's not that difficult and with some items becomes quite self managed. 100% worth a playthrough though, just don't expect a huge challenge, great for casual gamers. Played the playtest and the demo and enjoyed it. Saw the game back at the Jungle Jam 2024 and was very impressed. Not my usual type of game but got hooked on the demo. Very glad it's out now and I'm looking…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has a fun mechanic, mixing crafting and card battling, while sacrificing cards to get different choices. I liked the story and the antagonists. The late game can get a bit tedious, as you try for the random drop of the one ingredient that you need, but overall it's a fun journey to a different place.

neutral · AI labelView post →Its an intersting game you can finish in a week (or a weekend in hardcore). The mechanics make sense. The perplexity in intense but not overwhelming. It doesnt require too elaborate machinations but will peak your interest. It is addictive but also has some boss that once you defeat you can take a break. The graphics are very interesting and remind me of Dont Starve a little but remember its a card game, it is not Tekken. All in all I do reccomend it if you like card games and the story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a really unique little card game management sim. I was really impressed with it when I tried it out. I do wish you could mark certain ingredients to not be consumed by Kalades though... it was quite frustrating never being able to make an omelette because he kept eating my mushroom before I could get a second one. Otherwise I liked it, I like that it was short and sweet. Good game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one is a "maybe" from me. I enjoyed my time with the game and learning the mechanics was enjoyable. However, the game isn't very deep and it is very short (even though I am an unusually slow player). The village management is similar to Stacklands, but it is not very well balanced and the difficulty is mostly in the RNG rather than in player skill. I love stacklands, so this scratched the same itch a little, but it didn't feel nearly as satisfying as the discovery and progression in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this because I like stacklands but this game is worse than all of its parts. Really did not enjoy it. would not recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I replayed Stacklands too many times and really just wanted SL2, but this scratches the itch. Kaya combines the card-merger & deck builder genres for an overall experience that is greater than the sum of its parts. The card-merger portion is where you spend most of your time and is decent, maybe 6/10 if SL is a 10. The deck builder portion (similar to Slay the Spire) is much weaker when compared to a stand-alone game, like a 3/10 with very limited deck customization. Still, when combined, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is one of those "i really wish there was a mixed option". in the aftermath of CotL many games have explored the concept of combing game genres. this game is going for slay the spire meets stacklands but fails to excell in either direction. the card combat is incredbly basic and deck building is nearly non-existant, which is a must have for any card combat game. expeditions are incredibly repetitive and not very difficult. meanwhile the colony management loop is far less "colony…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs lots of work, the intro into game is ass
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kaya’s Prophecy is a thoughtful and ambitious hybrid strategy game developed by Jérémie & Thibaut and published by Yogscast Games, and it immediately distinguishes itself by weaving together village management, card-based systems, and thematic tension into a single, cohesive experience. At a glance, its vibrant tribal-inspired art style and colorful presentation suggest something light and welcoming, but beneath that surface lies a game that consistently asks the player to plan carefully,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is both too short and too long. The first 3 stages are really fast and the in-between exploration phases are pretty quick. The last stage however is much too long, requiring you to essentially do what you've already done 9 separate times already but slightly longer and slightly harder each time. Would still recommend the game but be aware the game is only 2/3rds of the way done by the time you get to the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had an air pack disappear in the very beginning.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wonderful mix of deck builder and roguelite with a great music, good difficulty and engaging elements. Could be a bit longer but for the price absolutely fair. Enjoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels too much like you are stuck in a tutorial for the whole game (or at least, for the first 3 hours of it). Overall it's a great idea but it doesn't quite deliver imho
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kaya's Prophecy A short, enjoyable Stacklands clone that is on the easier side. Gameplay: Kaya's Prophecy is a game in the vein of the little indie gem Stacklands, which sees spiritual predecessors every now and then pop up. To freshen things up, the game has a secondary part, which is basically a heavily toned down Slay the Spire-like combat and exploration system. All in all the Stacklands-Part, meaning the "city-building", is executed well enough to be enjoyable for its runtime, which is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of things I want to like. I like village management and card-based combat. I like the card style. I like exploring new options. Unfortunately, it's too easy. Like way, way too easy. There's no real decisions at any point: you just do the next thing the quest tells you to do. The threats lose all potency almost immediately, as you trivially pay your upkeep every turn and win every fight with no damage taken. I think this one is unfinished.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I've played a few different games of the "Stacklands" genre, and this is the first one that felt like it brings something new to the table. Adding the deckbuilding progression made it feel like its own game, and despite the problem's I'll list I feel it is one of the better games of the genre comparatively. Cons: Kinda buggy: namely achievements not working but I think there were a couple others I came across that are escaping me off the top of my head. Rough English, dunno if it's second…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels more like an organization simulator than any of the games it seems to take inspiration from. Combat is similar to Slay the Spire. Your village screen is clearly inspired by Cultist Simulator. It fails to deliver enjoyable gameplay in either area. Combat is trivially easy to get through, almost always with zero damage taken because defense values don't reset between turns so you can just stack it up. But, if you do take damage, it's also fairly trivial to heal it up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I thought the game was fun and I like the stacklands approach, I felt like it was underwhelming. The card battling system was fun but I wish there was more of it and more deck building instead of the very few times you were able to get new cards in your main deck aside from equipment. I wish there was more to do and less of a super linear structure to the game where you do the same cycle 3 times and then win. But if you want to pay 2 dollars and hour and have some relaxed fun then it's…
