Players widely praise KeyWe as a fun, cute co-op game perfect for couples and friends. [1][2][3] Many note it becomes challenging and stressful when aiming for gold medals or high scores. [4][5][6] Some reviewers report bugs, clunky controls, and issues with online play or Steam Cloud. [7][8][9]

Sorry, we wanted to like this but we just ... don't. And it's not because it's generally "bad", but the issues lie in the details. For example, why does it require you to use several different buttons for doing basically the same action, just to make it artificially harder to perform the puzzles? And what's up with the gold medal timings? We play basically a flawless run on the very first map and are a whooping half …

KeyWe is a must-play shared screen position. When me and my boyfriend picked it up, we hoped for cute animals and a good time, but oh boy, it was a GREAT time. You play as two kiwi birds - or not, because your birds are fully customizable and you can be literally anything - skeletal bird, any kind of parrot, even a sparrow. You can even customize your fluff level and trim. You're hard-working birds in a post office …

While it presents itself as a cozy, relaxing co-op game about cute birds running a post office, actually trying to complete the levels with a Gold badge completely changes the experience. It instantly transforms into a chaotic, stressful, hyper-optimized speedrun simulator that requires flawless route execution, memorization, and perfect timing. Even small mistakes will prevent you from getting a gold badge or …

My partner and I picked this up looking for a cozy co-op game and ended up shouting, laughing, and slamming our butts on keyboards for hours. Every season throws in new mechanics, so each level almost feels like a different game, kind of like a cuter cousin of Overcooked or It Takes Two, and the kiwis are unreasonably adorable. It does get genuinely tough if you chase the gold medals, and we hit a bit of multiplayer …

I definitely whole-heartedly recommend this game to people that want to play it. I have been playing this game with my husband very recently and we decided to play it to better learn how to cooperate together. Never in my life do I think I can ever be as compatible with someone as I am with him. I love him till' death do us apart. Literally.

Critics, per Wikipedia
KeyWe received "mixed or average" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. The game received a score of 29/40 from Famitsu, based on individual reviews of 6, 7, 8, and 8. Writing for Shacknews, Sam Chandler wrote that KeyWe "something special" and a "charming, yet challenging experience". He praised the puzzles, mini-games, and "charming" visuals. Chandler criticized the controls, calling them "finicky". Slant Magazine's Aaron Riccio wrote that KeyWe "turns a game about operating a telepost into a noble calling". Stephen Tailby from Push Square rated KeyWe 7/10 stars, praising the cooperative challenges and the "cute" presentation. However, Tailby criticized the controls, calling…

neutral · AI labelView post →Still some major bugs. All screen prompts for the controller say to use X -- no matter what you're doing, even if it contradicts other things. Doing the mail chute mini game in 3.3 Bouncing Boxes is literally impossible on controller. You can send outgoing mail, but you cannot cycle through the names for mail being picked up. Doesn't help that all prompts say to use X, but the controller settings doesn't enlighten the user either. And trying literally every button option possible did not seem…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ghost of Yotei is great. The combat is sufficiently challenging, the voice acting is great and I love the setting. Playing this in between playing Keywe (a game in which you and another person play as kiwi birds working at a post office) is a jump, for sure. Who needs football when you have games?

positive · AI labelView post →Although there are a couple annoyances, the game is very fun. They don't detract from the experience in any major ways, and the main game is incredibly well-crafted, rewarding, and replayable. Definitely recommended to spouses, although I would heavily recommend to not push for 100% completion - gold starring and completing all challenges and achievments is pretty damn hard. But if you settle for challenges suitable for your efforts - it's very rewarding. Personally, we settled for completing,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately Steam Cloud isn't working properly for this game. It would be great if the devs could fix this. Overall the game is pretty fun, and it has lot of customization options for your Kiwis. It gets repetitive over time because every season you get the same puzzles with slight variations, but the minigames are a lot of fun and help to break the pattern.

The coordination needed is at a pretty good level where it's needed to do well but one player can do some more of the heavy lifting if needed and still complete the levels. Interesting and unique setting/premise too. Would love to see a sequel someday.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →one of my favourite couch coop games EVER. While the concept is simple, I found each level had enough variance that it keeps you going and going. Me and my girlfriend have played on and off and found it easy enough to repick up every time. The Cosmetic system is really fun, I love this game so much. I actually played it on the first date with my girlfriend a couple years ago and we are about to 100% it, so thank you to the devs for such a fun and unique experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fun co-op game that kept the GF and I entertained for almost 40 hours..DLC is mandatory to max out achievements and expect a lot of frustration for the final challenges that require split second coordination to beat at the highest tier. One small criticism would be getting stuck on the environment when the aforementioned timing is essential to ace the level that you've been grinding for that Gold including all challenges. Also several glitches pertaining to the mechanical vehicles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You have to co-operate! You have 4 basic game modes, which are changing on each map (new hazards and ideas), 9 "overtime" jobs based on collecting points on time and 3 tournaments from DLC. You are doing mostly the same, but on each map in a bit different way, what makes the game really good one, to play and feel something new. You can turn off time limit (for basic modes - what limits you to bronze reward) and play with youngsters and finish levels on your possibilities. Worst thing in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →KeyWe is worth checking out and is fun with friends, but the game definitely needs to be played in person as some of the gold rankings are basicly impossible with online's slight imput delay. While not as replayable as overcooked, the objectives from level to level have constant shifting gameplay mechanics that makes this game worth the time to finish, and a fun system of mini-puzzles to unlock cosmetics mid-level.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are a handful of little bugs that might make you need to restart a level, but it's really a very cute game. If you give it some time and patience it'll really teach you about you and your player two's communication styles and help you both adapt. The level design is really good. It builds upon the same handful of mini games in a way that gives every level new challenges while keeping familiar mechanics. Don't stress about getting all golds right away, they're damn hard to get. There are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From all of the 2-player co-op games, this is one of the best. I 100% completed this game with a muted friend, so you don't necessarily need a lot of communication if y'all are in sync. I mean... not always but it works out. You and your other half can do it, just persevere. It’s super cute, and who wouldn’t love customizing their KeyWe’s? The postal puzzles are a mix of fun, easy, and challenging. It may seem repetitive at first, but levels get modified as you progress further. It can add…

neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly? Not really. My best memories of gaming were in my 20s in my student flat. Lots of Team Fortress 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I played games in the early '90s and don't have much nostalgia for most of the games themselves. The late '90s had the PSX and N64 and whilst Mario Kart 64 is probably the best in the series I can't say I feel most of the games of those platforms were "the best". I think I would say that the best games are the PC games that came out between 1998…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is extremely fun to play with friends and I would 100% recommend. It's like an intro to co-op games like overcooked, moving out, etc. I think the general game is pretty forgiving and beginner friendly while going for gold can become an entirely new challenge in itself. My only critiques would be the replayability aspect when going for gold can be a bit tiresome and repetitive as well as one particular overtime level that I think is really poorly made especially when considering input…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My feeling about this game is mixed. The cooperative gameplay is very innovative and unique as the only similar example I can come up with is Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. If you plan to play through every level once and not get Postmaster (the highest grade for completing a level) for every level, the game is short but fun. However, when trying to get Postmaster for every level, the various shortcomings of this game got amplified to an excruciating level. To reach Postmaster grade, you…
