The game is a glorified walking simulator with a little bit of lore here and there, the issue? Is way too repetitive. The whole time it feels like you're exploring a huge white square with the same 5 assets duped all over the place, I managed to finish the whole story in a little over an hour, it was unexciting and the ending was as anticlimactic as it gets. I don't recommend paying full price for this game.

Kholat is one of those games that nails a very specific mood and then dares you to either sink into it or walk away bored. At its core, it’s not really a horror game in the traditional sense. There’s very little action, no real combat system, and nothing that constantly pushes you forward. You can feel a sense of despair and isolation in the harsh environment and desolate landscape. The greatest fear I felt in this game was that I am terrible with directions—yet I am the one who must escape this place and end my disappearance.

It's a pretty meh horror walking simulator, you've three things with you a map, a compass, and your flashlight. Out of the blue even if you turn off your flash and crouch the demons/souls whatever run at you and you die. Spoiler Alert. The game has 3 acts but act 3: Really shouldn't exist, it's the ending in which you just need to walk for 30 seconds and that's it. I don't recommend this even on sale, unless you like walking simulators with some supernatural beings. Kholat 4/10 Heisen

Was very excited going in. The general atmosphere is fantastic, narration and voice acting is great, and having to rely on a map and compass for navigation is very cool. However... as soon as the over the top supernatural stuff started happening and the human torch appeared out of nowhere and punched me to death my interest dropped to zero. This could have been such a cool mystery game if they would have let it be more realistic. There's so much creepy and scary stuff you can do without…

Currently playing Kholat. This game is more of walking simulator but it's still pretty neat. Navigation is achieved with a map and compass (which is in Russian) so it's kind of tricky at first but you get the hang of it eventually. All in all, I would recommend this game. An exploration/horror game where you are trudging through an arctic wasteland, finding clues about events inspired by the Dyatlov Pass Incident. Mostly it's you, a map, a lot of wind and spooky sounds, and occasional voiceover by Sean Bean. I really tried with this one and found most of the landmarks, but the last few were too irritating to locate. I understand the developer's dilemma here - adding a "you are here" blip to the map would make it trivially easy, but without it you end up like I…

Kholat, developed and published by IMGN.PRO, is a first-person horror exploration game that draws its inspiration from the infamous Dyatlov Pass incident, a real-world tragedy in which nine hikers lost their lives under mysterious circumstances in the Ural Mountains in 1959. Rather than attempting to retell the event with historical accuracy, the game builds upon its unsolved nature, weaving an unsettling narrative that leans heavily on atmosphere and ambiguity. Walking simulator. There are 1-3 jump scare parts in the game otherwise it's just music. Buggy, as sometimes you can get stuck in textures or just drop through them. A lot of walking... If you want to sprint, don't bother as you're playing a fat ♥♥♥♥ who can't go two steps without gasping for air.

Kholat isn’t your typical horror game—it’s an atmospheric, chilling experience that excels in immersion rather than jumpscares. The game’s gloomy, eerie open world pulls you in, making it perfect for late-night exploration with a controller in hand and a cold breeze from the window. The story is gripping, and on your first playthrough, you likely won’t uncover everything. But that only adds to the replayability, as I keep coming back to dive deeper into its mystery. I love the story and the soundtrack, but I didn’t enjoy the gameplay. The concept of realism and map is okay, but it would be nice to have a possibility to mark something on it. Also, movement problems. Our character cannot jump, it gets tired fast and gets killed easily. There is something wrong with the balance. I am going to recommend the game for the following reasons: - The musical score was, at times, quite good. - The environments were actually pretty well designed. - The gameplay actually simulated an experience of being lost pretty well. My biggest problems with the game: was that the story, told through finding scraps of lore (some narrated and some not), was extremely disjointed and at times difficult to follow. Some of the best atmosphere I've ever experienced in a horror game. Music is a 10/10. Not heavy on jumpscares, but manages to build real dread and a feeling of danger in its various notable areas, and the central gimmick surrounding the dangers you face is strong enough to make up for other elements that could be considered poor in different contexts.

The atmosphere in the game is superb. The only disappointing thing - it's too short and ends abruptly. It deserves 9/10, surely not "Mixed" rating filled with noobs who need detailed map and pointer above their head...

I don’t mind walking sims, but this one it’s just so tedious to play. And there are two things which I consider it makes it like that, one being the navigation and the other how the story paces, which is tied to the world and navigation. This game is more of an open world style walking simulator, and that does not really work, especially when you couple it up with an old school map and compass. A lot of walking with no real direction to know what to do or where to go. No marker on the map to tell you where you are. This can be good, if the game has a nice open world to explore. Unfortunately, the world here is not very interesting. It is not worth exploring just to see the beautiful scenery or amazing locations, because there aren't any. Pros: Sean Bean Exploration feels rewarding Cons: 1 shot, barely visible enemies.(not scary at all) Map is given, but you can't even see your actual position, which wouldn't be a bad thing, but landmarks like certain rock formations are impossible to see. I really enjoyed this game cause of it's unique style of gameplay. I felt like i was in Firewatch but with a darker turn and more stuff to explore. It was interesting finding all main things but the notes as well I don't think i would change something to this game GG and i loved playing it <3

A walking simulator in a very atmospheric snow storm. It's quiet slow and isn't really a horror game with action and combat system but feels more like Amnesia where you have to manage stamina and sanity. You're tasked with using the map and compass to find notes that tell the story and find locations of interest. Could be of interest to those who enjoy atmospheric walking simulators that is directed by your own will to investigate.

Gotta say I wasnt a big fan, not enough spooks, not enough direction, just walking around a forest with a page finder simulator im all set. shadow demons were cool once.
