Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 245 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (114,311 of 129,500 positive).
Players praise the co-op gameplay, satisfying combat, and strong soundtrack. [1][2][3] Many criticize the large file size, lack of true offline mode, and monetization. [4][5][6] Several reviewers compare it favorably to Killing Floor 3, calling it the better game. [7][8][9]

I wanted a game but I inadvertently bought a Shop with a game attached. The game is only around 30 gigs but it asks for 100gb, 70 of which is bloat. The gameplay loop is great, it's a mindless fun game ruined by monetization and huge useless bloat, which would all be solved by file compression, optimization and an option to only download the necessary files. Bought it on a sale for like a dollar and somehow I still …

Great CO-OP with nice graphics and good optimization

✅ Massively improved from the first game ✅ Gameplay is very fun and satisfying ✅ Progression system feels very rewarding ✅ Several classes to play with ✅ Tons of unique weapons ✅ Highly replayable ❌ Game has no 'true' offline mode. There's an offline play mode but it's a broken misleading design - if you are not connected to the internet, you won't have any progression or your save file ❌ Time limited trader system …

Possibly one of the best cooperative games I've ever played. So many combinations and variables that make every match feel different, giving players real freedom to experiment. There’s no single forced meta: you’re not locked into “SWAT with X weapons” or “Demo with Y loadout”. You test, experiment, and discover what works best for you, which can result in absurdly powerful builds when played well. If one word …

Killing Floor 2 is currently my favorite game. There are so many maps. I love how satisfying the headshots are, which is why I think Commando and SWAT are the two most fun classes to play. It is also just cool to be able to listen to rock music while shooting up zombies. I highly recommend it!
Summarised from 34 of the 342 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 11, 2026. How summaries are made
Players who liked Killing Floor 2 talk about great co-op gameplay with friends; those who didn't talk about game size is too large (90-130 GB). Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Killing Floor 2 received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator website Metacritic. However, like the previous game, negative feedback from the reviewers considered that the lack of any real plot or aim for the players other than killing specimens, the small number of existing maps, and the repetitiveness of the gameplay reduced its replay value.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Banger OST time! This is one of the tracks that plays during combat in Killing Floor 2! This track is metal 🤘😤 it goes hard! The track features synths, but they are heavily overshadowed by a guitar that absolutely shreds and drums that bump! The energy is crazy, it's a tough track for a cool game 😎
positive · AI labelView post →This track is the song "Death Marches" by zYnthetic! Killing Floor 2 was an awesome game! The game took everything great about Killing Floor and bumped it up a notch with new maps, weapons, graphics, and refined gameplay mechanics! The OST was certified tough as well 😤 it was an incredibly fun game!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This track is the song "By the Throat" by zynthetic! Killing Floor 2 is an awesome game! ngl for a while it was a comfort game of sorts, I loved hopping on and tearing it up 😈 my class of choice was Sharpshooter! It was the same in the original Killing Floor as well 😅 I highly recommend KF2 tho!
positive · AI labelView post →Killing Floor 2 used to be a 2016 co-op masterpiece; highly optimized, compact, and packed with a true offline solo mode. It is a franchise that I deeply loved, which makes its current state incredibly frustrating. The current version has been heavily bloated to +100GB with useless assets and microtransactions. i tried an older 2018 legacy build of the game clearly proves that it used to have a drastically smaller installation size, functional offline play, and significantly superior…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please update this game again and forget about KF3, it's so much more fun. Endless modding, endless possibilities, core gameplay itself is infinitely more fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Joined a lobby to relax after work. Five minutes later I’m knee-deep in blood, my teammates are screaming in six different accents, and a robot just called me 'meatbag'. 10/10 stress relief.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kinda wild how Helldivers 2 has 3 game modes: Metal Gear Solid 5 Multiplayer, GTFO and now Killing Floor 2
neutral · AI labelView post →Great game but sadly you can no longer play this offline without internet like before which sucks! Because if your internet is out and you wanna play offline you cannot. Please tripwire give us true offline play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun game, esp with friends, but why tf is it 90 gb? for the content in the game it feels like it should be 60 at max
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After giving it a fair chance, I actually started to like the game for what it is. I just wish it toned down the neon and futuristic elements and maintained the grungy/gritty visuals from the first game :(

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →although not as good as the original for me, it's still a very good sequel and a good game in general - something that cannot be said for killing floor 3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Killing Floor community and tripwire developers team. I know no One Will read this review but since I quit using Steam for safety and privacy reasons and focus on irl goals, I have an messages to say for everyone that reads this review which is you. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect shooter. Very questionable updates towards the later half of the games lifespan, but regardless, it is the best co-op horde shooter I've played. I was originally a console player and put in 130 Days of playtime there before switching to PC. The sequel is the biggest disappointment in gaming history for me. No game will ever let me down as badly as Killing Flop 3 did. I looked forward to playing that game for years. Please remove that stain from the steam store and remaster killing floor…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love the game but the company's greed is visible even in this game the item crafting system is broken. for example you've got 15 crafting tickets. when you don't know anything about this game, you also don't know that you use AT LEAST 5 crafting tickets for ONE item. if you do that, your crafting ticket counter doesn't go down, it still shows 15. you craft a new item, now the crafting animation is stuck in a loop and you have to wait 20 seconds for an error. then you do all of that again and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game but it takes 5+ minutes to launch when it did launch, and now it doesn't launch at all, so I can't recommend. Also $40 for a 10 year old game is a scam, especially since there's DLC and microtransactions baked in.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ever since they've added the Epic Games support to the game (so you can play with players from Epic) the game is not stable, even after YEARS they didn't fix that issue that you can get randomly disconnected from any server!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid sequel but I do prefer the original more. I do enjoy the updated graphics, gore etc. Another great game to play with a group of friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I had a dollar for every game that had a 2 at the end of it, was pretty good but fundamentally flawed and really needed another sequel to perfect itself, and the main protagonists were mask wearing charismatic people with amusing chemistry, but their sequel legit tarnished their legacy, i'd probably have more than two dollars but i know i'd have two for sure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still one of the main games on Steam with a great soundtrack, engaging gameplay, and a very active player base even in the current year. Somewhat reminiscent of CoD Zombies from about 15 years ago. Even with random players, I continue to have a good time. Better than KF3

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game many years ago (Ultimate Edition), recently installed it, but didn't receive the items. In 2026, this shouldn't be a problem, but here we are. It's better to just buy KF1 for a much lower price and get more enjoyment in the long run; there are many more mods compared to KF2.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Going live streaming some Killing Floor 2 on Twitch I'm pretty good at this game and will be playing a mod'ed difficulty. twitch.tv/sagegnosis
neutral · AI labelView post →HELL YES!!! An Honest review from someone who has never played the Killing Floor franchise (this was my first killing floor game) I love it! The satisfying combat, The Adrenaline from the absolute BANGER music, a wide variety of weapons and cosmetics and a very fun wave shooter! I usually never play the in-game music to listen to some hardcore metal but this OST is purely the Whole PERIODIC TABLE! I played a bit of Co-op and it was pretty nice too, I only played 1 match tho, so don't take my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so much better than the first one, and even better than the third game honestly. you get tons of characters and loads of outfits to pick from. gameplay's pretty solid, just takes a little getting used to, like any shooter really. you'll quickly learn to save your ammo and aim straight, especially when you're on the move. seriously, movement is everything in this game. it's the only way you're gonna stay alive and keep that xp bar full. no joke, if you stand still, you're dead. there's a bit of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i really like this game, im just playing this until kf3 gets better improvement on the game overall but i actually like this, its sad how i have no one to play with since i know playing with friends would be better
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of my favorites to chill out with I absolutely love this game but I never get to play it because it takes up so much space on my pc that I cant ever justify keeping it installed I have have way more hours on this than it looks from EPIC. Since KF3 bombed I doubt they're going to fix this ever which sucks
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK It may be a little janky but it's MY janky game that takes 10 years to load up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is how i felt about payday 2 when I first discovered it; super late but an amazing amount of content to play solo or with friends! Go try this for 2$ if you like cod zombies or payday 2 :D it's even got easter eggs and stuff elysium best map btw
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Killing Floor 2 feels like a missed opportunity. Instead of focusing on meaningful improvements or innovation, it seems the developers put most of their effort into cosmetic content and skins rather than actually making a better game. Despite the game growing from around 6GB to nearly 100GB, the core experience feels largely unchanged, with the same overall look and texture quality and very little real evolution. The gameplay loop remains mostly the same, but without enough new ideas or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Takes up too much space to worth keeping. All downloaded workshop content is stored in the Documents folder and not deleted when uninstalling. Each map is about 200MB. Solid shooting and insanely random music that doesn't quite fit the game. Weird unbalanced new classes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →totally different vibe, for people who liked the first one for its more slow paced strategic approach, this is not the game for you :)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review of Killing Floor 2 I've been a lover of wave based survival / horde shooter games for many years of my life. Killing Floor 2 has been one that's brought me some of the most fun thus far. Which is surprising to me, because I vividly remember playing it for the first time in 2017, but not really liking it. Until I was brought back into it a year later, and suddenly everything just started clicking positively for me. KF2 was my primary introduction to the series. Previously, I had…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best FPS zombie wave shooter imo. The zeds and gun animations (non DLCs) were motion captured, making them SMOOTH AF, especially in zed time (slow motion). Gameplay is AMAZING, its fast and chaotic, characters are memorable with awesome voice lines, and the gun play is top notch. There are 10 classes with diverse weapons arsenal making alot of viable playstyles, and the music oh boy, is just perfection, top notch. My only gripe with this game is the devs kept pumping low quality free and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve BEEN saying this!!! I can optimize Stardew Valley into being the most stressful game. And I can snuggle up in bed playing Killing Floor 2.
neutral · AI labelView post →I still like KF1 over this. KF2 is quite different, a little more silly, toned down heavily from the bleak horror of the first game. That being said, it is nearly impossible to find a populated vanilla server in KF1, and I'm in NA. I can't imagine trying to find a server in some random other part of the world. As for now KF2, bieng a pretty old game, still has some population. Still feels incredible clicking heads, has good maps, a little character charm, and most importantly I can find…

neutral · AI labelView post →Killing Floor 2 has the most realistic rendition of Paris I've even seen in a game, the only inaccuracy is the high number of signs that are in proper English.
positive · AI labelView post →Been playing this game since launch on Xbox, and wish I had all my gear on here... some of those precious items are worth over 10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dollars! Awesome game, more fast paced and less gritty than 1, but just like one its perfect in it's own way. If only they would make a 3rd game... because they haven't yet. Yep. Just need a 3rd game. Hopefully not some ♥♥♥♥ slop crap fest that everyone hates.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has ten years of extra stuff, runs better, and is much trickier to master. The shooting is still top-notch, but the menus? Not so much. The game feels clunky with its confusing 'Vault' crates, a messy inventory, and a store that just feels like it's trying to get your money.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One game i can always comeback to and stays as good as the first day i picked it up 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are a lot of Valve stans on Fediverse. I think here it's mainly because Valve boosted Linux so there's stronger emotional attachment than your average Valve reddit stan using Windows who are more focused on Valve's pathetic PC gaming client competition like Epic, Ubi, EA, etc. I appreciate: 1. The gaming compatibility boost enabling me to not have to use Windows hopefully ever again and compared to their competition when it comes to store design, modding, and community features…
neutral · AI labelView post →Sometimes the game doesn't need a story. Sometimes the player doesn't need a reason. You are 1 of 10 unique kill zombie guys and by god, there are a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zombies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I use to play this game all the time on PS4 back in 2018/2019. Man it feels good to be back. My only complaint is I have a RTX 3050 with 40 gigs of RAM yet the game still looks like mud. But I'll assume that,s just the age of the game and not a game issue.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Killing Floor 2 is so much fun I would even consider it an addiction. The core gameplay loop is as simple as it can be - you have to defend yourself from a horde of enemies always knowing where you are, but you also have to eliminate them all to progress to the next wave. With each elimination you get money that you will spend in between waves for armor, ammo, weapon upgrades, grenades and different weapons entirely. It sounds basic, yeah, but it somehow does not stop getting repetitive for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth $30 and 96 GB of storage. The weapons don't feel as punchy as the first game, the sound design is muddy compared to the first game, the UI is a mix between bad and confusing, and too many microtransactions. -I feel like I had less spatial awareness in this game compared to the first Killing Floor, and I realized it's because the Zeds(enemies) are significantly quieter, meaning they're more likely to sneak up on you. Not that that matters, though since the game is super forgiving…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of Killing Floor 1, I don't recommend Killing Floor 2. I'll explain. They say that KF2 managed to be a proper sequel, preserving the first game gameplay and almost everything. Well, that's debatable. 1. KF1 was dark and reddish, KF2 is light and blueish. There isn't any grim feeling of horror in KF2. 2. The music. In KF1, it was outstanding. In KF2... is there music? I don't remember, if you know what I mean. 3. Yes, they have preserved the original classes (which they did not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game. Could play for hours together. But make sure you don't get addicted to the game ;)

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After all this time if I could pick mixed I would have. The game from the get go had issues but still maintained more or less the experience the original one had while expanding on a lot of systems that needed to be expanded. The gun autism and the models are great, the movement system is simple, which is good, so you don't get bogged down by dashes nor tumbles nor any kind of animation or dead time. The music is great, a shame they never really seemed to care about it since they haven't added…
