Beautiful, full of fan service, and genuinely heartfelt - but completely empty when it comes to gameplay. Kingdom Eighties feels like two, maybe even three steps back compared to the previous game. It's not a straight up NO, just a MEH

It's clear that a lot of love went into the making of this, and it shows. The game is good. Soundtrack is amazing. Pros: I really like the ability to kite enemies and having more agency over the "invasion troops". I also like that the civilians help with economy and the stations are not locked with seasons. Being able to recruit civilians even without trees around is quite nice too. Hero system is quite nice, I …

If you were a child in the 80s and/or 90s, you will love all the Easter Eggs hidden (but not really hidden) in this game. So much fun to be had. Only have 2 complaints: 1) Too freaking short. Needed to be a bit longer. 2) in the beginning it is hard to discern what is what and what you can do compared to the other Kingdom games. It takes time, but this game play was worth it. 9/10

Spin-off of Kingdom that doesn't try to distance itself much from the original series, with its pros and cons. Good: - Beautiful '80s aesthetics: the pixel art is gorgeous, and the soundtracks are amazing. They nailed the atmosphere very well. - New features and differences from the main series: kids (the "peasants" of this game) don't slack off, instead they help you passively farm gold by working jobs like mowing …

This one is really tricky. With Eighties and Two Crowns being the exact same price while on sale, this one is hard to recommend when Two Crowns is by far the better game. And yet i did enjoy playing this one anyway. In my opinion, this game is comparable to New Lands in terms of content. There are differences of course, but the amount of content and depth of gameplay are similar to New Lands. It's not even close to …

Players who liked Kingdom Eighties talk about great 80s aesthetic and soundtrack; those who didn't talk about too short compared to other entries. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Kingdom has received generally favorable reviews. Dan Stapleton of IGN gave the title a 7.7 out of 10, and felt the lack of instruction combined with the tension of the various random attacks created a great experience for the game. Robert Purchase of Eurogamer gave the game a "Recommended" rating, believing the game achieved the right balance between being fair to the player while the player learns the mechanics of the game. James Davenport of PC Gamer, giving the game a 70 out of 100, was more critical of the lack of instruction, noting that a half-hour's worth of gameplay investment could be wiped away due to the player not being aware of how certain mechanics work, and that the game…

Don't buy full price and play it local coop with a friend. Bad look for Raw Fury that 1 DLC is just completely standalone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't make an update video last month, so this one is a big one. I talk about Dispatch, A Game about Digging a Hole, Dark Queen of Mortholme, Cat Quest 3, Kingdom Eighties, 1000xResist, Silent Hill f and more! youtu.be/H1k4FfPq9Uw
neutral · AI labelView post →Inferior in gameplay in every way to Kingdoms. Two Crowns, They have released DLC for the original game so why did they even make a standalone, worse game like this? The creator of this game Raw Fury partnered with Sweet Baby Inc to make a "diverse" and "inclusive" Kingdoms for "modern audiences", dont feel ashamed if you just happened to notice the female mechanic, the black computer wiz kid, and the strangely prominent interracial parents of the main protagonist, there is literally a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like its not a bad game by any means. It's just that I don't recommend it over standard "Kingdom Two Crowns", there is just substantially more to do in that game. I just can't recommend this.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With Steam's Next Fest over halfway done, what demos have you played and enjoyed most?. I've only gotten through a few, myself. **House Flipper 2** seemed like an interesting iteration on the original (from what I played of that). Not necessarily for me, but I think it'll please those that are looking for that. I played quite a bit more **Kingdom Eighties** than I expected I would. Having just played the first Kingdom for the first time not too long ago, Eighties had a lot of changes that I was…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a HUGE fan of two crowns but this one did not do it for me... I could not get into the 80's nostalgia trip and honestly the game feels inferior. I especially hate some sprites that make game elements difficult to see against the background
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautifully boring game. After spending hundreds of hours with the other Kingdom titles, I was genuinely excited when this one was announced. But when it finally arrived, I couldn’t even push past a couple of hours since its gameplay was mind-numbingly dull. Two years later, nothing seems to have changed. So instead of wasting your time here, do yourself a favor: go play Silksong.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Idk... trailers looked more exciting than game turned out to be. I like riding bikes and this made me switch to roller blades. Sweet Baby Inc apparently injected this with some 80's aids Butt wipes would be a better investment.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a corny half baked story line that feels so left field and doesn't even feel like kingdom. It feels super superficial and feels like it lack any sincerity or care, almost as if someone who doesn't care about the game made the game then I saw sweet baby inc in the credits and it all made sense. I haven't played played two crows but this feels like a huge step backwards from new lands, super disappointed in the story and honestly it ruins the kingdom vibe for me so I'm refusing to accept the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a Kingdom game. If you've played one, you've played this. This one does have a couple extra bits that improve the gameplay loop, like siege weapons and repeatable recruitment camps even after expanding. Towers that eat workers have been replaced with laser turrets, which is nice. There's also fewer bugs than in the other games. Where it does falter is that this game has dialogue-focused cutscenes, but there is no voice acting of any sort, so you just look at some text for a couple minutes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So much money for 5 hours gameplay! Get the DLCs for the other game!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just buy it already. I was just recently introduced to Kingdom Two Crowns by a friend and it was an instant favorite. I have enjoyed exploring all the different variations with Norse, Shogun, Olympus, etc. But this version immediately stole the show. Familiar Two Crowns gameplay with some tuned up mechanics to match the environment. The score, visuals, and overall aesthetic is perfectly executed. I am really enjoying it and can't recommend it highly enough, especially if you love that 80's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought it as a great fan of Kingdom two crowns, unfortunately this game is much worse. I couldn't pinpoint what was the reason why this game is so much inferior to its predecessor until i sought end game credits... Sweet Baby :/ Anything they touch they turn into a crap. If I knew ther are involved I would have newer bought this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get this if you are expecting Kingdom: Two Crowns in the eighties. This is an extremely dumbed down version of the previous games, and lacks the fun the older ones had.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A kingdom built upon of child soldiers and child labourers, nothing can top that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/5 Stars Great story, love the turrets. Game too short and too many glitches.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basic and boring as hell compared to the older games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not terrible, but i just dont get a feeling this is replayable like two crowns.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are a die-hard Kingdom player, give it a try, but only on sale.. this is more of a DLC than a full-blown game. The story is ignorable, just a vehicle to deliver Sweet Baby Inc stink (and its forced inclusion in every aspect is laughable if it wasn't conniving) but worth checking out if it's deeply discounted to attempt the new mechanics. For Achievement Hunters - this one isn't too bad. Do not buy expecting the replay value of the original series I and many others grew to love and…

neutral · AI labelView post →This was the longest 5 hours I've ever spent on a game. Somehow they managed to make a game more shallow than the original with fewer features and less strategy. There's almost nothing to even talk about. You just spend coins that are easy and quick to get, then spend them on the units that make winning a complete joke. That's it, that's the entire game. Maybe harder difficulties makes spending coins on different things slightly more interesting, but "normal" should really be called "very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kingdom cashed in on Stranger Things vibes and I really liked it. The main characters having special abilities and the different areas were a nice change from regular Kingdom. And this game is so pretty, I have a bunch of screenshots rotating as my desktop wallpaper.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the other kingdom games so I thought I would try this out, and it was just as good though a little short imo. All of them worked great on steam deck and are a good game to unwind with. This game has excellent graphics with more structures, it's more visually interesting. I'd love to see more types of troops and jobs in any future dlc.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a big fan of the 80 version of Kingdom, I have no nostalgia to fall back on so that may be whats limiting me but the some of the mechanics and art choices of the game don't translate well from previous game but all in all still a Kingdom game WITH a story-line, so if that's you're thing than come have fun with it!

neutral · AI labelView post →It amazes me how different it is from Kingdom Two Crowns. I like the cutscenes and the story, the views are stunning and the gameplay is like always but this time it feels like it has a purpose so it's even better
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a basic and rather dull game series. It is weird that they choose to not derive the gameplay even a little bit. It plays like a reskin. And the sad thing is, It is not even the reskin of a good game. Certainly not recommended
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too much cinematics, although gameplay practically the same, but much easier than the original Kingdom. IMHO, Kingdom Classic and New Lands - the best parts
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did you like Kingdom Two Crowns? This game is essentially another take on that one. I personally could not get enough of that game, and it's always fun since it's so chill. This is THE late night game to play with your partner. Or your best friend. Or your other friend. Or your roommate. Or your dog. Whoever really, it's incredibly simple and allows you to just turn your brain off for a while.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The worst Kingdom game I've ever played, with fewer gameplay options than in other games and mediocre animation/storyline. I never want to play it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game plays well and is enjoyable but I can't recommend a game that has Sweet Baby Inc. in it's development team.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not as good as the previous games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very user friendly, fun story, lots of cameos and easter eggs. Not as relaxing as other Kingdom Games but much easier to progress through a comprehensive story.

neutral · AI labelView post →I would of been annoyed if this was a DLC due to the lack of content - but fair enough, but to out-right make it a standalone game is diabolical. This is just a re-skin of kingdom two crowns with the same mobs, and same mechanics just with side-kicks that follow you around. Low budget / effort cut-scenes that are so boring and anticlimactic. Cringy artstyle and execution, I like the retro 90s vibe in videogames, but this just felt like a parody more than anything - it was so over done and in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the Kingdom games; anyone who has read my past reviews knows I find them to be the perfect fusion of Zen base-building, exploration, and survival crafting. The titles are deceptively casual, until they are suddenly not; while the early hours are slow and steady, there is an exponentially compounding difficulty curve. (It gets harder the longer you play). This, combined with the near permanence in decision-making, means that poor choices early on can lead to late-game failure. You are on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My partner and I really enjoy the Kingdom games. However - we stopped playing them because there was a specific fast/speedy kind of way you had to play (which we found out later after being unmercifully over run) which differed from the play style we thought we could play. We like to slowly build up defences, collect, weather the attacks - make sure the island is fortified and then go to another island. By the time we did that we were overrun on island 2 because of our speed of play.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easier and sillier entry in the Kingdoms "franchise". Not much different in gameplay from different entries, other than different buildings and characters and more "modern" (80s instead of medieval) setting. The story is bland and doesnt really matter, but the easter eggs are cool. All in all, if you like the Kingdom franchise, you will like this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will keep this very brief and to the point - BUY THIS GAME ON SALE I am happy I paid 2.99 for it because that's personally what I think it is worth for this game in the Kingdom series. Why? its short like I completed it in 6 hours. seriously. I spend more on a takeway and I enjoy that for a lot shorter time. Is it fun? yes, for the most part because it cheesy. However, its REALLY EASY like stupid easy, I could speedrun in around two to three hours. Why buy it? because its a throw back…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kingdom Eighties: summer of Greed is part of the Kingdom series but set in the 1980's with very Stranger Things vibes. The graphics are cool pixel art and the vibe is brilliant. The story is simple enough and keeps you chugging along while not getting you too bogged down. The game is pretty short clocking in around five hours which is perfect for me too. Unfortunately, the gameplay didn't really grab me. You basically hire builders and fighters then clear trees to reclaim the map and open up…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not my favourite Kingdom game, however I did like their new twist! The 80s style was very flashy and totally fit for the timeline. I as someone who has played all the kingdom games did not struggle with any mode aside from Cursed, which felt like a serious jump in difficulty. It was very hard to progress at the final marker for the last two islands as the waves of Greed were neverending, however it is doable. I favoured the truck for the cursed difficulty and I recommend that "mount" for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgic. Simple fun storyline. Easier than Kingdom Two Crowns. Played through with my wife in about 5 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game if you like any of the other games in the series. if you're not familiar with Kingdoms, it a beautiful game where you spend money to fend off baddies and grow your kingdom. Put it on your wishlist, wait for a deal you won't be disappointed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it was pretty fun. What I liked the befriending is that it only costed one cointo do it. - Finn (aged 8)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very story focused, and can be completed in under 5 hours, probably less, i actually went out of my way to clear every single tree of every single map. very linear, complete a map and move on.... some of the kingdoms charm was lost along the way when you have 2 huge structures moving with you everywhere, but i guess it fits the thematics. overall a good experience, but i bough this for 1 dollar and i would not have paid a cent more, buy on discount or at your own peril, you've been warned.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very similar game to the other Kingdom games, but with the 80s theme. It was quite easy on normal. It was recommended at the start that if you have played others in the series to play the game on hard, which i should have done. Instead of fighting solo you recruit three friends that have different abilities and siege weapons. Like one girl modifies a dumpster to act as a shield. That makes sieging the portals very easy. I find the game slightly meditative and it reset my brain after…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A vibrant, pixelated odyssey that transcends the boundaries of traditional strategy games, invites players to revel in the opulent decadence of a bygone era. With a main cast as diverse as the vivid neon colors that saturate its retro landscape, the game boldly introduces a black father (WTF) into main hero protagonist's family. We are the the helm of a realm where the currency isn't gold, but the sweat of your child laborer-slaves. This unexpected twist adds a dark, yet oddly charming, flavor…
