Honestly this is more of a halfhearted reccomendation. Kusan is a decent enough game, albeit one that doesn't hold a candle to its inspirations. Kusan City of Wolves is such an insanely cool game, and is fun too, but I fear that a lot of people won't be able to vibe with it because the difficulty is ludicrously brutal and as far as I can tell there's no real way around it. Try the steam demo, it's hotline miami but furry cyberpunk

Man, this may not have the legendary soundtracks of Hotline Miami or Katana Zero, but the gameplay and art's DNA are laced with both in a bloody, crunchy double helix of goodness. Kusan is absolutely a worthy love letter from what I've played so far; it's as snappy as it needs to be with agency given to the player in how they want to clear a level out. It's no knock to the music, it works if a bit unconventional, but KZ especially is one of my all time favorite game OSTs so the bar is super…

I was very excited for this game as it looked similar to the Hotline Miami type of gameplay. Once I started playing though I started to feel and see a couple of bumps and hiccups here and there. I should state first off that if you are looking to play this game as you miss the feel of Hotline Miami I do not recommend you buy this game. Though if you like the art style and aren't looking for a game with combat very similar to Hotline Miami then you might end up enjoying this title. The story…

The game gets drastically better from Chapter 2. If you don't play up until that point, you'll be disappointed. After starting off way too easy, the game becomes worthy of being included in the genre of top-down shooters that proceeded Hotline Miami. While the story may be disjointed in places, it gets the job done. The protagonist isn't cleanly fitted to genre stereotypes and has about as much reason for whatever he's doing as Jacket.

This is a very well-made game that punches above its weight both aesthetically and design wise. I did not expect too much going in and I was positively blown away by what is on display here. Kusan City of Wolves is a game that is undeniably inspired by the indie smash hit Hotline Miami. It follows the exact same pacing formula: short, brutal levels that don't technically require, but really-kind-of-want-you-to run through them in the most efficient, score-maximizing way. But it has strong…

Way WAY too unforgiving. I'm a busy dad, sometimes I need to leave in the middle of your balls-hard infinitely long temple. Not being able to save between screens in these very long scenes suuuucks. And I'm sorry but there's some weird stuff going on with mechanics, hitboxes, tracking, everything just feeling a little random, like they work or don't work at odd times. I often feel like I die because either a punched-off door randomly chose not to hit someone it usually does or the enemies blend…

Kusan - City of Wolves is a top-down action shooter, just like hotline Miami but with a few more mechanics. The protagonist weilds a Firearm, A Throwable Knife and A Gauntlet all at the same time, which the player can chain to execute some slick manuvers. The initial levels did give a strong impact but the intensity vanishes in the final two levels, not saying they were bad but they were not as challenging as the mid sections. The game chooses to present story in the similar hand drawn…

Cyberpunk, top-down shooter, WITH FURRIES? its like this game was made for me... Kusan : City of Wolves is such a great little game. The spin it takes on the genre is super fun, chaining together combos with all the different abilities and upgrades is very satisfying. My only complaint is that ( at the time of typing this review, at least ) the window for parrying seems suuuper small. Its hard to time it on purpose, especially with gun enemies. Great Story & Cinematic Moments... However Kusan sets up some spectacular moments, but ultimately holds itself back through self-imposed limitations. The game wants to be Hotline Miami while forging its own path, delivering impressive cinematic flourishes, like QTE sequences where Jin shatters his arm, grapples an enemy, or pulls off a wild backflip explosion. Yet, the soundtrack, though catchy, feels like background elevator music better suited for intermissions than the main event. The tracks…

I'm really torn on this one. If you want to support an indie studio that clearly has some level of talent I think it's worth buying. If you are looking for a proper successor to hotline miami, this ain't it. It's not BAD but it falls so so short of the greatness of hotline miami. 7-8/10, depending on how much you can forgive some of its flaws. A very melee focused hotline miami-like. Instead of kicking doors down you launch them at enemies with a punch, goring them instantly. There's a lot of neat ideas in the gameplay, but they're not always executed in a way that makes them fully realized. Like the parry system on the most basic ranged enemy. They don't just shoot at you and have a bullet travel, they lock onto you with a laser that WILL hit you unless you parry it,…

#KusanCityOfWolves offers #HotlineMiami and #IndieGame vibes, but leaves you wanting more. The OST clashed, the inspiration felt confining, the story was rushed, and it all seemed limited by its genre. Sick cinematic visuals integrated game play, but it still deserved much more room to breathe.

Good game with surprisingly endearing characters, especially if you like hotline miami. Two things I don't like: - too many flashing & shacking effects on screen, really wish you could disable those as they decrease the screen readability you desperately need in games like these. - enemies sniping you from outside your field of view, this in particular feels unfair and unfun. I'm talking about those little sniping-laser robots, hope there aren't more enemies like them.

The story is very simple, but i honestly believe it's even better for these kinds of games because the combat and fast-paced gameplay are the main focus. It's hotline miami for furries that even non-furries can enjoy to the fullest extend. The music is fantastic, the gameplay mechanics (parry, charge punch, quantum knife) all feel great to use and blend in well together. my favorite part is how the story is told through a comic with a lovely artstyle. my only gripe is that ranged weapons feel weak, and you're dependant on them to get SS scores.

The best successor to Hotline Miami I've ever played. Yes, I'm serious. Are there problems? Of course. The translation is a bit rough around the edges. The lack of any farsight makes some levels (and ranged enemies) feel unpolished. But at its core, at its very heart? It gets it. This game gets it! Its knows exactly what made Hotline Miami good and revels in it! I've been looking for a game to scratch this itch for over a decade and this was it! Not Katana Zero. Not OXTO. This. There isn't…

Combat like hotline miami one hit one down but with own special twist and very fun even if frustrating it's still, very fun and epic bosses fights, it impressed me, it focus in melee but it's more like one punch man and throwing stuff like crates, doors and even enemies to kill them and the guns and reload mechanics are sastifying and addicting, yeah if you want to be a cyberpunk feline with the arm of zeus you should try it

Review Pros: Great story: I really liked it and hope it gets an anime adaptation someday. Build Variety: I loved the upgrade system; you can create different builds like a knife build, speed build, or weapon build. Stage System: I liked how the stages work—if you want more money, you just have to play better. Characters: Loved the characters, especially the Gazelle and the Dog. Boss Fights: The boss battles are awesome; you really need to focus on speed and parrying. Cons: Knife Targeting:…

Absolutely fantastic game! Stunning pixel art, badass OST that I cannot stop listening to, brutal fast paced gameplay, a completely unique upgrade system that is a minigame in itself, great writing and beautiful comic panel cutscenes, its just pure fun the entire time! Highly recommend! Hotline Miami can go suck a bag of Dodongos!

One of the best indies of the year. Looks stunning, gameplay is incredibly fun and challenging, and the story is better than I ever expected. Loved this, picked it up on Xbox too

Great Game, It's furry cyberpunk that plays like Hotline Miami. It is all gas no brakes the entire game and I'm here for it. Decent Verity in weapons and build potential. Story is simple but well executed. My only compilates with this game are Its lean, zero fat, and I wanted a little more time with the cast and space to experiment and try new builds. Bosses are good but border line cruel. There is a line between "get good" and unfair, This game walks the line but it doesn't feel like its…

I like Hotline Miami, and this is probably the game most faithful to its most basic gameplay formula that I'm aware of, although it develops upon it in its own various ways. Some people might not like the upgrade system due to the breadth of benefits it allows you to stack in comparison to e.g. masks, but I think it generally works with the other developments that are in place. Full combos still count heavily towards top ranks, but a lot of weight is also placed on variating between the…
