A widespread activation bug prevents many from launching the game, with Rockstar support failing to resolve it. [1][2][3][4]

Sad reminder of what could have been... This is an amazing VR experience (when it actually works). -By far the best driving mechanics I have experienced in VR. -Boxing and gun fights are rudimentary, but fun. -Detective work feels like it was meant for VR. -Walking in the streets is simply magical. Locomotion is not up to today's standards, but I found swinging arms to walk mechanic very interesting and actually …

Pros: ✅ Good story. ✅ Interesting gameplay involving clue collection and investigation. ✅ Entire L.A. Noire map available from the start. ✅ Achievements. Cons: ❌ Only 7 cases are available out of the 21 from the original game. ❌ No side missions. ❌ Hidden cars can be found but cannot be accessed. ❌ Outdated VR support (can’t climb ladders, walk up stairs, entering buildings may teleport the player inside). ❌ Too …

DO NOT BUY. ITS BROKEN AS OF 2024. - Even if you buy the steam version, rockstar has THOUGHT THE BRIGHT IDEA. to force you to use their "Rockstar launcher" but upon launching it, the system deny's you playability and requires "another key" so you buy it on steam and it gives you a key, but using that key says its already invalid and used. so you're screwed out of a game you can't play because you require not one, …

I'll join the cacophony, do not purchase, this product is wholly defective. I have a ticket open with R* and will adjust this review once the issue is hopefully resolved. R* was unable to confirm if they are aware of/tracking/attempting to resolve this issue on live chat so don't hold your breath. July 26 2024 Update: Rockstar has made no indication they have made any progress on resolving this issue. Refund request …

★☆☆☆☆ Disappointing Experience – VR Shouldn't Feel This Clunky As a huge fan of the original L.A. Noire, I went into the VR Case Files expecting a fresh, immersive way to experience one of my favorite detective games. Unfortunately, this VR adaptation is a frustrating mess. First off, the controls are incredibly awkward. Simple actions like picking up objects or interacting with evidence often feel like a battle …

Noire, i went back to (Modded) Skyrim to take a break. I took this while walking from solitude to Winterhold to start the mage's guild quest. I believe it's right outside of Solitude

Noire (also probably the last screenshot i'll take of it unless 100% takes longer then expected). I was up way later than i thought i would be completing it (Nicholson Electroplating didn't help), but i can proudly say i completed the story. ::: spoiler spoiler I took this screenshot in the tunnels in the final mission. I loved the last few chapters. It feels like it…

I thought 100% would be easy business, just grab the cars i'm missing, wrap up the street crimes. I'd be finished by noon today and could finally figure out what New Vegas's issue was or go back to Skyrim or Fallen Order. Nope, i completely forgot about the Star System. Anyways, here's a screenshot of my 5 star run through Nicholson Electroplating, for the second…

I have played and enjoyed most of the Assassin's Creed games. Specifically: 3, Black Flag, Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, Origins, Valhalla, and Shadows. With Black Flag Resynced on the horizon, I would be lying if i said i wasn't hyped about it having grown up with the franchise the way i have. I'm hoping to wait until launch to hear about it to even consider it…
neutral · AI labelView post →L.A Noire is such a good game. Rockstar created something special and it deserves a sequel.
positive · AI labelView post →Day 616 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing. Today’s game is **The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark** (which I’ll just be shortening to The Darkside Detective). I played the first one back in January after me and my friend did a game exchange. I gifted him Oneshot (which I absolutely fucking loved) and in return he gifted me this. I loved the original and he ended up gifting me the sequel (unfortunately there’s Oneshot 2 I could gift him).…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately this game suffers from bad reviews because of the CD key authentication. But this is issue has now been fixed, and I feel like I must write a review to give this game justice. Firstly, when the CD key is prompted, go to you library and right click on the game > Manage > CD Keys. Copy/paste it in the Rockstar launcher and you're done. Now for the review, I've had played LA Noire before as non VR, and I must say the gameplay fits perfectly for VR. The dev team made an amazing job…

It got banned because it made people "slack off". Glad she's better off now (must read) - www.rockpapershotgun.com/how-rockstar...
neutral · AI labelView post →You literally can't open the game anymore because rockstar ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up with their launcher. It was a good game too. I doubt they'll fix it any time soon. Only way to play it is through pirating. Do with that information as you wish.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I fell asleep sick this afternoon and had a fever dream where I was in an Alan Wake/L.A. Noire style surreal detective game within which I had to investigate whether these people were a Cthulhu-sque cult. I ask the jury to decide how much Cooper owes me.
neutral · AI labelView post →Sunday Morning Setup 🎮☕ I'm in no rush to grind for the last L.A. Noire achievements, unsure which game I'd even play next, but some progress would be nice. Went to the gym this morning because my back needed it. 😅 Cookies are store-bought, but chocolate is chocolate. Enjoy your Sunday, friends!

neutral · AI labelView post →This game used to be really fun and probably one of the best VR games. The problem is that a few months ago Rock* broke the launcher for this game making it unplayable or should I say unlaunchable for anyone that owns it. Do not buy until the issue is resolved!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable as of 5th August 2024 - I've owned this game for years and come back to it every now and then because it's one of my VR favourites, however I reinstalled the game this week and can no longer launch it thanks to the Rockstar Game Launcher. When I boot the game up on Steam I'm greeted by a message on the Rockstar Launcher that says "enter activation code", the code is still available in Steam (right click the game in your library to view it) so I copied it and pasted it into the…

neutral · AI labelView post →The game simply doesn't work, Rockstar Launcher fails to register the the key given by Steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) 🎬 A Texas documentary style slasher. The heavy voiceover & score felt like a detective video game (L.A. Noire vibes!). Quirky, fun & a good time. Next time Sidney name-drops this in Scream, I can finally do the DiCaprio pointing meme! 😂 #100DaysOfHorror #Horror
neutral · AI labelView post →Feels like I'm not toooo far out from having to decide which game from my backlog to play after Rebirth. (Or after my post-game depression after Rebirth. 🫠) Right now I'm thinking L.A. Noire... 🔍 Happy to hear pros and cons!
neutral · AI labelView post →It's just a tech demo. Early VR, primitive controls and movement. Not the entire game of LA Noire, just a selection of cases. Hopefully this means Rockstar will do something more with VR in the future. (Still waiting on GTA SA, Mark Zuckerberg you ****.) Had fun driving the cars, and screwing around this adaptation. However at this price!? Skip it.

neutral · AI labelView post →Game doesn’t run because of a Rockstar Launcher failure. Just some advice for the future, if you see Rockstar Launcher in the requirements, keep that in mind that one day the game you bought might stop working because of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥, unnecessary integration. Unfortunately, I can’t refund it anymore since I bought it a long time ago, but I definitely would if I could.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dont buy it if you want to play it on any Quest. First you need to activate the Game on the Rockstar launcher with the Game Code, wich is not much affort but just an unnecessary step, then if you want to start it via Steam VR it doesnt launch it gives you the Error Oculus (-1), i searched for solotions and installed the then oculas app now meta Link app and it also doesnt work. Maybe there is a solution but i dont want to install 3 Apps to play a game i paid 30€ for that takes 90 mins to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rockstar is trash. I used the activation code and then the Rockstar Launcher was stuck loading for 10 minutes. I closed it, tried to open the game and then it prompted me for the activation code. I input the same code and was told it was already in use. YEAH OF COURSE IT'S ALREADY IN USE, BY ME YOU MORONS. Don't give them money, Rockstar sucks.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!! As of September 2nd, 2024, I have been unable to play this game. I activated the game, got the CD key within manage, applied it to Rockstar Launcher, it said "activation successful," wouldn't load, then rebooted to be greeted with my CD key was already used and it refused to start up unless I put another key. The game is literally gone in Rockstars website, and there is no way to speak to a tech agent. Valve and Rockstar are DELIBERATELY STEALING PEOPLES MONEY WITH THIS…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't play on steam. It asks for redeem your steam code, which I did successfully but the game restart and asked for the redeem code again at which point it was saying it's already redeemed but didn't let me play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY. After two hours of troubleshooting with Rockstar, the game won't activate with the CD Key provided in Steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is broken! DO NOT BUY!!! You will not be able to launch it no matter how hard you try to find a workaround. The issue is to do with Rockstar so all of your efforts to get it working are futile. I had the game working a year or so ago when I last played it but now when you launch the game from Steam or the Rockstar Launcher you are prompted by the Rockstar launcher to enter your CD Key which will then tell you it is already in use. I have LA NOIRE VR Case Files already in my Rockstar…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY! I can't play my purchased game anymore since more than a month now!!! I don't know what is going on with Rockstar's launcher but it displays a please enter cd key message when trying to launch the game! I contacted the support team but it seems they just keep lying, send automated answers and try to make you think they will fix the problem but do nothing. Enough is enough, I am now escalading things with Steam!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's dumb I have to work backwards to submit a CD key to a launcher (Rockstar) for a game I bought from a launcher (Steam). That said, even after that, it still doesn't work with my Meta Quest 3. Save yourself the time and aggravation, skip this until Rockstar wakes up. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i want to make a game that's like L.A. Noire where you solve mysteries by identifying clues except you work for a men in black-type quasi-governmemtal shadow organization and slowly become disillusioned. but also nothing like X-Files
neutral · AI labelView post →Since a while the game is not working, it tells me to fill in an activation code, but when i enter the one that is on steam, rockstar launcher says that it has already been used, so there is no way to play the game. It worked fine a few months ago...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got to play once... Now the R* launcher says I don't own it and my key is "already in use" After dealing with R* support I suggest you pirate this title if you actually want to be able to play it *EDIT* After over a year they managed to fix the problem.. I can now start my game. Problem is, it was a simple problem and it took them over A YEAR to fix it, seems like it might have been over 2 judging by the reviews at the time. Avoid R* as hard as people still wearing masks in public avoid…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is STILL broken DO NOY BUY I am 100% serious. The game forces you to use Rockstar Launcher with no work around and after giving the CD Key to the rockstar launcher It will then ask you for the CD Key you JUST gave it 10 seconds before and then it will tell you its already in use if you put the CD Key in again. Do not fall into this trap. Rockstar games sucks at preserving its games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the cd key breaks every few years and doesnt let you play the game for months currently you need to download a modded openvr dll and launch the game on rockstar launcher with steamvr off to start the game

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buyers Beware: I rarely leave negative reviews, but this game is not working for me (activation key error like a ton of other reviewers are saying). I have put in a support ticket. Will delete/change review if/when it gets fixed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're seriously considering buying this game, play the pancake version instead. If you enjoyed that version, wait for the VR version to go on sale. Rockstar ought to bundle the pancake and VR versions together like Ninja Theory did with Senua's Sacrifice. :-D Compared to the non-VR version I played back in the day on a PS3, this "enhanced" VR experience is a disappointment. Here's why: First, I felt less immersed in the VR version than playing the pancake version. How's that…

positive · AI labelView post →Played Jan 2nd 2025, had to check files once before it would let me play but the game does indeed work. Ran pedestrians over for a half an hour and had a blast laughing at the ridiculous scene playing out. Got to wag my finger at my partner while driving, taking my eyes off the road intentionally to crash while giving my VR friend a stern talking to. Still loads of fun. I played this game with the original Oculus Rift.
