What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 161 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (253 of 324 positive).
Players praise the game's atmosphere, music, and story, but many find it too short. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note it feels less polished and shorter than its predecessor, Lifeless Planet. [4][5][6] A few players criticize the price relative to the short playtime. [7][8]

I have to go with NO for this one. I would be fine with maybe 7EUR and I would be way more lenient. For 17 I don't feel like the game is worth it. Let's go with the negatives first, that is why you are reading this. It is under 2 hours long and it feels incredibly padded. This game emphasizes the walking in the "walking sim". It's hard to combine vast areas where you should get a sense of loneliness and scale while …

I'm very sorry developers...I didn't understand much of the story :D Very suggestive views and the soundtrack is also good. Too bad about the length of the game, about 3 hours, I would have expected something more considering the price but all in all it left me with positive emotions. My rating 7/10

As a person who loves this kind of game and Lifeless Planet in particular, I was interested in playing Lifeless Moon and I absolutely loved it. The experience is riddled with bugs and far from perfect, just like Lifeless Planet. Despite this, the atmosphere, music, and story left a deep impression on me. I will start with stuff that I didn't like. Initially, the game looked very similar to Lifeless Planet - the same …

I really liked this game! The story was interesting, the music was beautiful, and the game ran well and I didn't have any crashes. Definitely worth taking your time and reading all the text pickups that you'll find in the game.

Lifeless Moon is a great follow up to Lifeless Planet. It's a little shorter and a bit more surreal, but still has that eerie atmosphere and fantastic music of the first game. Games like this remind me just how much can be achieved by a solo developer or a small team. Well worth taking your time to explore as there are a few hidden secrets out there!

83% of the 161 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Lifeless Moon. The complaint that keeps coming up: too short, around 2-3 hours. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

neutral · AI labelView post →Lifeless Moon is a short and visually attractive game without question, however, it feels like there is just something missing overall. Maybe it's the lack danger and death that was in the first title, Lifeless Planet. Lifeless Moon puts you at the centre of a mysterious Moon expedition. The story is a lot shorter than it's predecessor, Lifeless Plant (which I am still yet to finish)! However, I found them both to be very different. Lifeless Planet offers a longer, more immersive, and…

If you're looking for something else... don't I will recommend this game, with notes (David, been there, please take this as a constructive comment, also this is my opinion, maybe I'm a weirdo). While the story is more compelling than the first one (Lifeless Planet) the story falls short and the game doesn't develop it's full potential story-wise, this results in a shorter experience (2-3h versus 5 hours on LP). All of this said, a more concise review: -…

neutral · AI labelView post →Having completed and achieved 100% in both Lifeless Planet and Lifeless Moon, here's a comparative review: Lifeless Planet offers a haunting, minimalist narrative open to interpretation. It can be seen as a survival story on a dying alien world, a psychological journey through grief, or a cautionary tale about human ambition. Its story unfolds gradually via environmental clues and hallucinations, encouraging curiosity without heavy exposition. Lifeless Moon delivers a shorter, more…

I don't know if it's just me, but the look sensitivity is at the maximum and it's still very slow; using an xbox controller on windows. Adjusting the look sensitivity doesn't seem to change anything. Looking forward to playing this.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't finished the game yet as I'm taking my time, exploring every nook and cranny. I'm enjoying this so much. There is platforming, but it is much better than in Lifeless Planet. You just need to figure out the jetpack range and you're good to go. The puzzles aren't too hard. I've been stuck a couple of times, but that's just because I get lost easily and have difficulty figuring out where to go next. Fortunately, the areas are not that large, so you're bound to find what you're looking…

neutral · AI labelView post →I regret this is a no from me. I loved lifeless planet. It was a slow burn sci-fi thriller with existential questions. It felt grouonded in some reality and you wanted to uncover the plot and what happened. This game is a barely 2 hour padded experience. The plot is mostly fed by "notes" that you have to open a menu to read. So the gameplay becomes "run a few feet and open a note". It's very poorly paced. The game starts off with the right atmosphere. I thought it would be an interesting…

neutral · AI labelView post →Lifeless Moon isn’t a completely bad game, and if you’re a fan of so-called walking simulators (you spend most of your time simply walking forward), you might even enjoy it. After all, the very same concept was used in its predecessor, Lifeless Planet, which evoked a primal desire to explore an alien world, even if it did so in a somewhat monotonous way. Unfortunately, Lifeless Moon didn’t bring many innovations, and due to the total linearity of the story, it offers almost no reason to return…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly for me it wasn't as good as Lifeless Planet, the story was meh and not much fun on the gameplay side
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually the game was nice. Story was okay. However, it was massively too short (the story). For the amount of money for the length of play....the game should have cost at least a third of the buying price. It was over before I knew it! Lower the cost and the game would be suitable for a quick run through. OR revamp the game and make it more expansive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping for more political conspiracy, but it has the feel of an old school scifi novel which is great. Plus I love jumping puzzles, so this is the type of win-win where I win twice.

neutral · AI labelView post →A low budget title with more heart than most. While it looks rough around the edges, this is more of a walking simulator than a platformer puzzler. It doesn't answer all of your questions, but the story is interesting, and weird enough to keep you thinking once you've finished the game. The sound is surprisingly good, with the music have some truly epics work to give you the chills, in a good way. It won't take you long to finish, but if you want something laid back, then go for it. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's stable and smooth, but it's just... so painfully boring. I really liked Lifeless Planet, but this is a pale shadow of that. I'd say pass, even on sale. Honestly, I'd say pass even if it was free.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game was pretty damn good. This one, flat out sucked. It was boring, repetitive and the notes - OMG the notes... Every few seconds stop and read a note that literally explained the in your face what is going on "action" in the game. The graphics felt dated and there was no story worth reading or figuring out. But what exactly do you expect from a 2 hour game. Not worth the money at all. Surely did not live up to expectations from the first one. Read the negative reviews for…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Who'd a thought a space adventure such as this would have a nice mysterious plot to it. I'm intrigued. The gameplay is solid which mainly revolves around exploration that features radio transmissions, notes, and the environment tellin' the story here. The game features voice actin' so that is a nice plus. Recommended. Gameplay here: https://youtu.be/a7bWgfIgcNA

neutral · AI labelView post →Twilight Zone I think most people that are playing this game are ones who have already played it's predecessor, Lifeless Planet. If you haven't played that, I highly encourage you to do that first as it's a much better experience overall and has a better way of revealing the mystery. Without spoiling, I'd say this game is a much flashier, simpler, more accessible type of game compared to LP. LM has more spectacles, improved graphics, more voice acting, and more semblance of a story.…

Title checks out 3/10 - why did they put 1st person mode in this? its awful and just wastes time looking in circles + solid graphics - mostly walking sim + you can jump. my adhd self just spammed it all game + works just fine on windows 7 - who tagged this story rich???

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, same as Lifeless Planet. Solid 6 hrs of playtime with full exploration & achievements. Might not have the best graphics, but awesome story, atmosphere and soundtrack.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very original story which is hard to find anywhere today, with great views and a calm yet interesting pace. I do wish there were more details within gameplay, but I'm happy with the final product. Also recommend the original, Lifeless Planet, very highly (played it on my xbox years ago, me and my buddy couldn't put it down).

In this classic sci-fi fiction inspired game, you're an Apollo-era astronaut in the aftermath of an old 1970s experiment: an oddly familiar desert town… on the moon. Released on Steam today! Huge thank-you to David Board for bringing me in for a fun session! 🙏

neutral · AI labelView post →"Lifeless Moon" has some fascinating ideas at its core that hint at a larger, more compelling story and world, but is limited by its small scope and basic gameplay. It's a puzzle platformer with simple puzzle and a lot of mainly just walking around looking for keys. Its main character is mostly mute, unknown, and arbitrarily inserted into a story that feels like a more interesting narrative is happening around them, rather than to them. The frame story is very fragmented with lots of little…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As others have pointed out LM is a shorter game than LP and to me it didn't have quite the mystique or intrigue of the first game. The puzzles were fewer and seemed simpler than Lifeless Planet and there didn't seem to be as much jet-packing as in the original. Having said that I still enjoyed the game but I was hoping for a bit more. I really like this kind of game and I'd like to see more like these two from this team.
