Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 56 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (213 of 239 positive).
Some reviewers criticize the emulation for performance issues, graphical glitches, and missing features compared to original ROMs. [1][2][3]

I am a huge fan of the original Top Gear for SNES. It is probably one of my most played games. When I saw that this was coming I was very excited. I immediately purchased this collection. However the "Very Positive" rating is extremely misleading if you care at all about this game. This is a garbage way to play these games. I cannot believe the developer dropped the ball this hard. There are multiple long legal …

Some might say, "Don't buy this game, just play it on an emulator," but let’s be real—the legality of that route is murky at best, especially since there don’t seem to be any official options to purchase the ROMs in this collection as of now. So, what does this collection bring to the table beyond the classic SNES Top Gear games? Quite a bit, actually. It includes modern enhancements like leaderboards for …

Decent Collection To Play But... Original "Top Gear/Top Racer" is one of my FAVORITE racing games ever and while this PC collection overall runs "fine", I have noticed some graphical glitches and drops in frame rate from time to time and the visuals overall aren't as "clear" as they were compared to the original releases. In fact, I went back and tested Top Gear ROM on a SNES emulator and it looked and played WAY …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can’t recommend this game, as it falls short when compared to playing the originals on emulators. I paid around R$50 ($9), and it didn’t feel worth it. A more reasonable price would be R$28 ($5). The game suffers in terms of performance, and key features, especially for Top Gear 2 and Top Gear 3000, are missing. For example, in Top Gear 3000, you could use passwords to start with a fully upgraded car or unlock an "alien car," which is both overpowered and colorful. These options are…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hyped for this game. BlueTag (for those of you who know who that is) made a review for it and I figured "sure, why not? I grew up with the first two games and never got to play the third. This is going to be excellent!" Issue started on one of the first splash pages. "bleem!" That's a name I haven't heard in forever. bleem! has its own history and story, being one of the first, if only, boxed emulators. Meaning around the same place you could pick up "Bioshock" and "Norton Anti-Virus",…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haven't heard of Top Racer? The Top Racer Collection consists of four awesome racing titles in one glorious package. With great music and almost 150 racing tracks throughout, what makes the Top Racer titles stand out is the amount of depth found in each title. Sure you can pickup and play for a great arcade racing experience however to succeed you'll need to understand the in depth mechanics that encompasses each title. With split screen and added online multiplayer and a huge amount of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This came out in Australia as well as other countries as 'Top Gear'. This would probably be more popular here on Steam if it was in the title, maybe in parenthesis, like: 'Top Racer (Top Gear)', which will also make it appear in the search list if somebody types it's Australian title. Furthermore, to us down under, Top RACER, a title we're not familiar with, sounds like it's a cheap knock off, even though it's a legit product, and may turn some potential buyers off. Just my 2 cents. Besides…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Top Racer 1, easily one of my all time favorite racing games. But this "emulator" is missing frames, the games run very poorly and hurt the eyes. Right now i cannot recommend it as it's just better to grab an emulator online. They also made "another game" but it's just a rom hack with the car sprites replaced, it doesn't have its place here... And it should never be called a "new game", pretty wrong to do this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Impossible to recommend. Inferior to original titles you can play with emulators.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TOP RACER is the original JAPANESE NAME of the game. TOP GEAR was the name given to in the US due to legal reason (at the time(in the 90's)); also today there is now a show named also topgear. Yeah it is very confusing. That said, its a port of the SNES games that you ever wanted on PC. The UI is changed for modern systems but the games are there, just like the original. I used to rent these games when we (my family) had spare money when i was younger. New and young players won't like this…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great compilation of the classic Top Racer (over here called "Top Gear", but due to license issues this name was dropped) games, including a new version of the OG game with new vehicles. The games are the SNES versions, but this is not an issue since those were arguably the best versions. I had some issues with the sound, but it seems if you don't ALT-TAB, it doesn't get out of sync as easily. But I certainly recommend this compilation, to every retro game fan out there, especially those…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Blast from the Past! Top Racer is one of the most underrated arcade racing game franchise from the 90s that holds a very cult following in Brazil. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have the spiritual successor series, Horizon Chase, AND this collection. Yes, the graphics are dated and the gameplay can be tedious to newcomers, but the game is very addictive and takes more than just trying to avoid bumping on your opponents. It's very simple and backed up by their soundtrack to enjoy…

I think the new modes and features are a really nice touch, i haven't had the chance to dive into everything yet, but wanted to leave a positive review. Grew up with this series and have many, many hours across each of the games. Top Racer 2 and Top Racer 3000 being my most replayed. I hope new players will find this series and enjoy it as we all did back in the day! Back then, the 4 player…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Makes me nauseated, unlike the original versions. I can do VR for hours on end but this makes me sick relatively quickly. I'm not positive what the issue is, but it seems to be some choppiness or framerate issues that differ from the original SNES version or the ROM versions. It sucks because I truly love the game, but being nauseated before even finishing a set of countries in Top Gear 1 (4 races) and then spending the next 12 hours ill (I repeated it the following night and the same effect…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I still have the original SNES versions of these games (When it was called "Top Gear") and seeing them re-released was kind of a fever dream. These are among the first ever video games I played as a kid, and honestly, they still hold up today. But I do have my own biases.

Even though I have the original game on SNES, and I can play it with emulators on my other devices (old xbox, PS3, Steam Deck, DSi, 3DS), I am F***NG happy I can play it on Steam, with also Top Gear 3000 and added convenience (saves, custom championships, online multiplayer, etc.) SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY Review for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Faithful collection of three games with welcome modern additions and old-school frustrations. This is a collection of Top Racer's three first-generation titles. Depending on where you live, the series is also known as Top Gear, which is unrelated to the British show. If you never owned a console in the past, you might be unfamiliar with the series. Although there were a lot of similar racing games, Top Racer was never available on home computers. As an added bonus, there’s a fourth title…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tonight, on Top Gear! I drive through a French Vineyard with sharp turns, James upgrades his car and exceeds the sound barrier, and gets up to hijynx attempting to outrun the Qu So... SNES Racing games. They aren't super duper common, but you have some classics, such as F-Zero, Gwimbly's Racing Championships, and Mario Kart. And of those games, only one of those was any good. BUT, there was a single game that was less popular in everywhere (except for, oddly enough, Brazil) by the name of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite childhood games, one I played with my grandma... I'm not crying, not at all. 😭 The menu threw me for an initial loop, I didn't quite know what to expect but when the game actually launched... Oh yeah, it may have a different name than it did in the US (Top Gear) it is definitely the game I remember fondly from the SNES. There are still a few slowdowns and emulation stutters here and there, but you can really tell this is a labor of love that will get the time it needs. It…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a big fan of the original SNES games growing up, i highly recommend this remastered collection to anyone looking to replay the originals or to fans of retro 16-bit racing games in general. Here's hoping that if enough people buy it the developers will be able to get the rights to re-release the N64 games as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really awesome racing games! I actually never played this when I was a kid in the 90's. I have zero memories or nostalgia for this. It's just a really fun olde school racing game. They play great and multiplayer worked fine. Multiplayer is a lot of fun. I mostly play it offline on my original ROG Ally. Vroom vroom!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent enough port but I experienced some audio issues (music tracks sometimes would skip notes). These problems are not present in the SNES versions if you're wondering. I gotta say though, the "new" game Crossroads is a bit lazy as it's just Top Gear 1 with slightly altered cars. So it's not worth buying just for Crossroads. (Maybe it is if you REALLY, REALLY love Top Gear 1.) I already owned Top Gear for the SNES but without this collection I would never have discovered that Top Gear 2 was…

I am so excited this is on Steam and comes with Top Gear, Top Gear 2, Top Gear 3000 and whaaaat? A new installment called Top Gear Crossroads with new cars? Man, this is a 90's kids dream come true! I used to play this on Super Nintendo all the time as I owned Top Gear and rented Top Gear 3000 multiple times. Don't think I ever played Top Gear 2. This is the epitome of 16 bit racing.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Would have been nice if the original intro/title/menu screens were used. The new screens (and music) are very unmemorable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty cool collection, had a lot of fun with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is incredibly difficult to play as the AI traffic will always be in your way because there are way too many of them on the track that are driving as incredibly low speeds. Requiring you to have almost superhuman abilities to dodge them. Not only that, in Top Racer 1, the AI that races along side you will always be faster and will beat you in every race. I cannot recommend this product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the ingame soundtrack is not smooth like when i play it using znes emulator. but the game still a huge improvement from the original one. Update: please give option to remove speed limiter for computer rival in top racer so they use their car max speed. for now they are very easy to beat and provide no challenge.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If like me you're old enough to remember these 1990s Super NES games (American & European gamers might know them better as Top Gear, Top Gear 2 and Top Gear 3000), these are those games with a few modern day tweaks and a new compilation game added. The games are simple but fun and challenging, in particular the first Top Gear because it added dialogue bubbles where players would randomly taunt others or make relevant comments, and they had good multiplayer too. I in particular liked Top Gear…
