What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 16 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (57 of 60 positive).
Players praise the challenging puzzles and clever mechanics. [1][2][3] Some find the action-heavy levels frustrating and detrimental to the puzzle experience. [4][5] The game's Canarian mythology and narrative are appreciated by many. [6][7][8]

This is one of those times I wish Steam had a neutral review, but ultimately I think what I'm about to describe is a fatal flaw, at least it was for me, so I'm giving a thumbs down. Despite that, I think this game is awesome. It's a totally original idea with cool mechanics and strong puzzle design. They're not totally obvious at first glance but not so hard that you'll want to resort to trial and error. Each one …

An awesome puzzler with zelda style level designs. This game is a master class in level design, letting the player learn the mechanics in a very organic way and making sure we know the basics before escalating the difficulty. There are so many interesting ideas, such most of the levels having a "madness" variant, which is a remix of the same level we are playing if we lose (or we just can go back and complete it if …

Guayota is an intriguing puzzle-adventure game developed by Team Delusion and published by Dear Villagers that successfully combines mythological storytelling with challenging gameplay. Set against the backdrop of the Canary Islands and inspired by the island's indigenous Guanche culture and its legends, the game invites players to explore an atmospheric world that is both mysterious and unsettling. At its core, …

Nice clever puzzle game. It has some very interesting mechanics, and the art style is awesome. The progression is nicely paced, steadily more challenging as you learn new mechanics. The voice acting of the narrator is a plus. I can imagine myself coming back to it once I forget the solutions. Feels very fresh!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The puzzles themselves were amazing the "dark world" puzzles, TOP NOTCH. But the problem is the levels that had obstacles in them. They were way too much and took all the fun from the puzzles which are the whole point of the GAME! I was really excited to play the game after seeing Olexa's video. Unfortunately I had to request a refund. The puzzles should frustrate the player not the levels is what I am trying to say. Good luck for the developers!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a game based on Canarian mythology called Guayota on the switch 2 apparently. I haven't seen much but hopefully it's good.
neutral · AI labelView post →Good for what it is, but not what I expected I saw some ads about the game on TikTok some time ago, and since it seemed like it was some sort of Zelda inspired game with a mythology that I didn't know till date, I instantly wishlisted it. But... It doesn't feel like that after finishing the first temple, it reminds me more of some game like "Baba is You", but with different mechanics. The thing is that the game has the exploration tag, but is actually some puzzle game with some in between…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For now, it's been a pretty enjoyable game. The puzzles are quite simple at the beginning, but as you keep exploring the temples they become harder, yet interesting. As for the story, the notes you collect are very helpful to understand the history of the island and the Guanche and Canarian influences on which the game is based. 100% recommended for now.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzles are fun and give you good "I know what I need to do, now how do I do that?" moments. Did all but one of the puzzle rooms (I kept dying and admitted defeat). It's also a time period and location you don't hear about too often so that was nice, too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://www.reddit.com/r/Lovecraft/comments/1f6d4ch/guayota_the_origin_of_darkness "Guayota is a challenging 3D Puzzler with an engaging Cosmic Horror narrative and setting inspired by the Canary Islands' Myths—searching for a fabled Paradise on Earth that should have remained a phantom among legends. "Guayota gets a strong recommendation."
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun puzzles and lovely art style!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique and surprisingly deep puzzle adventure game. A lot to explore and some really tricky puzzles with a unique design. Worth a look!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not exactly sure how I found this little gem in the rough, but I have to say it's quite a charming and fun little puzzle game. Most of the stages are split into dark and light modes, with the light one generally being more action-focused, featuring various traps, quick thinking and a health bar, and the dark ones, which don't have a health bar, give you room to think and generally introduce you to new mechanics in a controlled and safe envoirment. Sometimes the dark stages feel like a tip…
