What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 8 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Negative (33 of 106 positive).
Players find the game fun and engaging, with a unique investigative gameplay loop. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game is short and recommend waiting for a sale. [4][5] Several players criticize the controls and hand-holding, especially with keyboard and mouse. [1][4][6]

I wanted to like this game. I really did. Unfortunately, it has so very much potential and completely wastes it. The premise for the game is really good, and the actual gameplay loop of analysing evidence, including live action video and audio, is a brilliant concept. Unfortunately, the game lets itself down with the execution of its narrative, cases, character development, and gameplay. Throughout every single …

Pretty good game, controls are OK with controller. It holds your hand a bit too much though imo, but it's still a fun experience (similar to danganronpa games). Seems like many of the negative reviews are complaining about bad controls (imo, fine with controller, apparently bad with mouse/keyboard, and price (has been reduced from 60 to 30 since). Keep that in mind when you see the game has mostly negative reviews. …

This is overall a good game, if a bit short (I finished it in <9 hours; maybe wait for a Steam sale to get your money's worth). A few positives: Each of the cases are quite well-made with logical solutions to all the puzzles. I like how the final case recontextualizes the previous four I also enjoyed the overarching storyline between the cases The art style is great I would have said it's a great game if it weren't …

TOKYO PSYCHODEMIC, developed by GRAVITY GAME ARISE and published by GRAVITY, takes a distinctly grounded approach to the detective genre, positioning itself less as a traditional mystery narrative and more as a procedural investigation simulator. Instead of relying on dramatic twists or stylized storytelling, it builds its identity around forensic analysis, evidence reconstruction, and the idea that even the most …

The game is not suuper long but it was very fun! It took me one day to finish it. Honestly, I don't quite understand why the review is so negative?? What I like: - It really does test your deductions and most times, making you really analyze the details of things. The gameplay of using the Image analysis and audio was a nice touch too as it give it this almost realistic vibe. - The fact that they use real people for …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tokyo Psychodemic This snuck out near the end of the last year after being announced (with a demo!) back in 2023, fairly decent investigation game that does sometimes feel held back by either its own technical limits/scope or by wanting to keep the game somewhat accessible. Wish it went crazier.
neutral · AI labelView post →7. Tokyo Psychodemic I am actually shocked by how high-budget the voice cast was?? I didn't expect it because the demo from 2023 was so low-budget and felt limited. Otherwise I think that it ended up being a decent adventure game. It DID help having some Japanese knowledge for some of the puzzles.
neutral · AI labelView post →I Liked the idea of this game but the execution left much to be desired. The story is weak, some of the clues require large leaps of logic and one specific clue I would argue wouldn't be known to the average American player as it requires knowledge of something that might be well known in Japan but would not be here (for example the ice cream truck jingle for us). Its worth playing if you get it on sale and you have time to kill but there are plenty of better detective games out there.

neutral · AI labelView post →I think Tokyo Psychodemic is a game that needs a bit more love. I played the demo at PAX East last year and was really interested. It isn’t perfect, but as someone who grew up on classic adventure games and has an appreciation for suspenseful narratives (like 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors or AI: The Somnium Files), Tokyo Psychodemic hit a sweet spot for me. Despite the poor reviews elsewhere, I found it to be compelling, despite its flaws. Presentation: I loved the combination of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played the demo of Tokyo Psychodemic at Gamescom two or three years ago, and I was instantly intrigued by its investigative gameplay and the unique blend of live-action/FMV and Live2D elements. The full game is made up of five cases/episodes, and most of them introduce new gameplay mechanics to keep things fresh. I enjoyed all of the cases, though I have to admit that the first one is definitely the strongest. While the overarching plot turned out to be a bit predictable, it was still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tokyo Psychodemic - Forensic investigation game (analyze docs, crime scene photos, surveillance videos and more). Only an hour in but so far, despite some jank in the structure and presentation, I'm digging what this game's going for and hope it sticks the landing.
positive · AI labelView post →8. Tokyo Psychodemic- This is a short detective mystery game with a super interesting premise in a post-pandemic world. It was a lot higher production that I imagined- voice acting, live action videos, moving character sprites. I had a really good time with this one! 8/10

neutral · AI labelView post →mannnn....I really want to like Tokyo Psychodemic but I keep getting stuck, not because the cases are too hard but because I don't know what the game wants from me? 2 times now I have been stumped with interacting with the game even if I know what the answer is...
negative · AI labelView post →Tokyo Psychodemic is heading to Nintendo Switch in English with a western release happening in a few days. #TOKYOPSYCHODEMIC https://gamesense.co/game/tokyo-psychodemic/news/discuss/tokyo-psychodemic-getting-english-release-on-nintendo-switch-next-week/
neutral · AI labelView post →For anyone who was interested in getting #TokyoPsychodemic The physical JP version (which Play-Asia and other sites clearly state has english on the cart/disc) WON'T have english or other languages. They released the game on steam yesterday, and they don't have the other languages ready. I'm sure it'll be the same for the JP physical versions. The devs might be nice enough to patch the game afterwards, but I cancelled my preorder with Play-Asia.
neutral · AI labelView post →Damn, I ordered the physical release of Tokyo Psychodemic from play-asia since they said it was multi language and would have English, but it just released on Steam and they DON'T have the other languages ready (which means it's probably not on the cart either). Now I have to get it removed from my order :meowmeltcry: #TokyoPsychodemic
