What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 169 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (302 of 317 positive).
Players find the game a cute and relaxing Nintendogs-like experience. [1][2][3] Many reviewers note the game is short and repetitive, best bought on sale. [4][5][6] Some players wish for more dog breeds and additional content. [7][8][9]

I will start right off the bat by saying, as gorgeous as this game is and as much as it gives warm cozy feelings or can hit hard with nostalgia vibes if you're someone who liked nintendo dogs, petz, or other similar games - It's genuinely best to catch on sale for a multitude of reasons including it frequently glitches, can easily be fully completed including achievements in under 24 hours, has a limited amount of …

This one is for the doggos! Super cute little game about raising and walking your dogs around some nice trails. There are a bunch of mini games, some great scenery, and a bunch of different dogs to collect. Each dog has stats to level up so they can perform better in construction projects as well as the different mini games. This would likely be a great game to entertain your kiddos since it's very easy and relaxing …

As someone who was obsessed with Nintendogs while growing up, I've always been desperately searching for a game just like it. This game isn't a perfect spiritual successor. There are definitely a few features I wish they had (competitions please!) But it's got the wacky cosmetics, the weird toys, and a strange little story line I hadn't expected. I'm a quest right now to build a greenhouse for the dog island. Wild. …

I recommend buying this game when it's on it's 90% sale for €3,99 Why? Well it's quite repetitive. I really like it don't get me wrong. But it's unpolished and repetitive. I do really like the different dogs available! Repetitive: Every single time you go over a certain unavoidable obstacle on the map (every map has a few of these) you have to do the same mini game that belongs to that obstacle, over and over and …

Really scratching that Nintendogs itch. I love when games are just 0 stakes coziness like this. Game also seems to run extremely well on the deck. Have had absolutely no issues with performance or controls so far. Hell, if anything, it almost feels like it is better on the deck, as the touch screen for petting and such is very reminiscent of the DS touchscreen controls for Nintendogs.

Super cute vibes and for sure a way for someone to wind down after a bad day. Reminds me of the games I used to play as a child too, so bonus points for the added nostalgia trip. ૮˶• ﻌ •˶ა ./づ~ 🦴
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Update: I blew through the game in like, 15 hours. New areas and PLEASE more breeds of dogs. And not as DLC because that's cheating <3 I played for 9 hours straight the first time I opened the game and could *not* stop. PUPPIIEEESSS
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I swear the puppies are so cute I need a game like this but with cats

It looks to be a new take on the NintenDogs series Anyone here ever played it?
neutral · AI labelView post →So, this game doesn't have a good/fun game loop. It needs a bit more to do, and more dogs. ESPECIALLY for it's laughable full retail price of 40$. The game loop is dog walking 90% of the time, with a few minigames to get past obstacles, teleporting home to clean/feed dog (with free infinite supplies) before doing it at all over again. While walking you come across random dirty dogs you recruit (only 9 breeds, color variation on those). Sometimes you need to gather supplies to build a new…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My dog loves this game. No seriously, she'll sit on my lap staring at the screen until either she falls asleep or my legs do. It's been a great way to distract her when she's anxious. So paws up from my girl to the devs!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to pull the puppies out of the screen and keep them
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is for people who love taking care of dogs and going on adventures to places that aren't particularly interesting. I went in expecting something different, which is my own fault, but I was surprised by how little I enjoyed actually playing it. The gameplay became repetitive in the worst way, and most of it felt more like doing chores than having fun. I didn't care about dressing up the dogs, teaching them tricks, washing them, or managing all of their needs. Taking care of so many dogs…

neutral · AI labelView post →Really adorable game, lost of pups to collect but i would love more content. Maybe a new area to explore, or new outfits for holidays etc.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →when the achievement said "just 100 more to go", they were serious. 101/10, got a dalmatian army
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MAYBE worth it for a couple of pound on a big sale but not a £30 game in my opinion. It just feels.. empty? The petting/walking/feeding cycle is just repetitive in a very unsatisfying way. Having to backtrack to unlock new shops and locations is tedious and the world just feels bland. If you could do something like.. actually place where new shops are or "build" the world more so you actually feel like you are taking part, i think it would be way more immersive and interesting. If you're…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth $40 but def worth like $15 or less. 100% the game in 10 hours. Playing feels kinda nostalgic- kinda like one of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ CD games your parents would buy you when you were like 7. I wish there were more breeds and I wish there were more ways to actually train the puppies, but overall there was plenty of content to enjoy and it felt relaxing to play. very cute
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the nintendogs rip-off aspect of it is very cute. but its a bit tedious and grindy and i feel really weird using puppy labour LOL

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It might look like Nintendogs but this is actually Barbie Horse (Puppy) Adventures and I couldn't be happier.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →as close to nintendogs as i can get. I'll take it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LOVE this game so far, I'm not sure if you can yet or not but would love the option to put duplicates up for adoption for bones...I'm starting to have a pug army lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is NOT like Nintendogs to be very clear, since I see some people suggesting it is. I found some level of enjoyment in this game, but it feels like it's missing a lot of features that'd make it feel more complete and it definitely doesn't have all the things Nintendogs had. I was quite indecisive if I should recommend this or not, but I imagine there are many who will still like this game regardless. I personally found enjoyment in just collecting different puppies, but the rest of it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought on sale for 3.99 and it really felt like a dumbed down Nintendogs. It could do with more features, like why does my dog poo but I can't pick it up? And why is the bathing all one action when surely I would need to rinse the suds? The food choice also has no impact which was a little disappointing. But then again I am a 28 year old lady playing a kids dog game, so in that aspect I had a lot of fun and 100% the game :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Webfishing art dump!! This game is so silly, I think i might have an addiction,, I LOVE THE LITTLE FRIENDS IN MY COMPUTER!!!!1! ^v^
neutral · AI labelView post →Got this for my kid and now I'm in love with it. Caught myself doing stat grinding behind the scenes lol This game runs very smoothly and I'm even on Linux. I've not had a single issue.

neutral · AI labelView post →While I'm enjoying the game as I'm in desperate need of a virtual pet title, this game is far too unstable, crashing at least once an hour, typially soft-locking from opening a menu at the same time there's an interaction with your dog happening.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just very cute! I am still getting started but I am kind of obsessed! Borky babies :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good, cute, relaxing game. Reminds me a bit of Nintendogs (although not exactly- it focuses more on exploration than tamagotchi aspects) & I'm always on the hunt for that bit of nostalgia. In my opinion its not worth the base $40 USD, but if you catch it on sale like i have then I highly recommend it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I got it for 4 euro... Anyways, not 40 euro I wouldn't buy it, but for the 4 it is worth it. But for such a price as the original, this game needs much more breeds and dogs. Speaking of which, I like that you're being giving them almost right away. Or... It is just the game short, don't know, haven't finished it anyways and there are plenty of achievements left. I don't like the controls, I don't like that you can't change the controls, I don't like the mouse sensitivity that you can't…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have never played a game with so little to do, with the slowest camera turns and walk speed. All of the dogs function the same and the only variation in gameplay (ignoring the ♥♥♥♥ minigames, which is literally click anywhere > wait for dog animation > click anywhere) is HATS. THAT'S IT. I AM SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BORED.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was so excited when I first started playing this. I coo'd at every new pup I found but after 76 hours....new pups lose their appear with the limited breed options unfortunately. Nevertheless, this doesn't detract from the games general enjoyability and the sheer serotonin boost you get from playing (it certainly lifted my mood after some tough days). The messaging system as a means to guide the story is fun and I'm so grateful for the schools coming into play later in the game which made for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very cute game that absolutely scratches the nintendogs itch if you're also struggling to find any replacement or newer version of it, though a bit lacking in the diversity of breeds and i would love it if there could be an update adding more pups to the game. 40 dollars does feel very pricey for what it offers, but the sales on it are great so there's absolutely no reason to miss this one if you're patient
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a SUPER cozy game. I really enjoyed myself. My favorite part is the fact that I could have a dog just like mine (Dalmatian)! I had an "itch" for Nintendogs and this game scratched me and THEN SOME. It had way more to do and a story line. You don't have to buy the food or shampoo (you did in Nintendogs). More movement/freedom with the main character. 9/10. 10/10 if they had more dog breeds to choose from.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game for younger kids. My son and daughter love this game. Thanks for your hard work. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is...hardly a game. Or maybe I'm just getting old? I had Nintendogs in high school and I remember it ruling my everyday. But this game doesn't seem to have much of a soul to it. It's so hard to explain, but it feels empty. Absolutely not worth the price on sale and I'm looking to get a refund, despite only spending $4 on it. It isn't good. Maybe great for little kids that REALLY, *REALLY* love dogs, but beyond that? Eh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you grew up loving Nintendogs, then Little Friends: Puppy Island feels like the warm, modern-day reunion you didn’t know you needed. From the moment you arrive on Puppy Island, there’s that familiar joy of meeting your new furry companion—watching them tilt their head, wag their tail, and respond to your attention. The bond-building mechanics instantly brought back memories of brushing, feeding, and training your pup, but with updated visuals and a whole island to explore together. What…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just spent over two hours playing with a rowdy pack of dogs on an island as a character who decided while house sitting to just....open up business operations out of his buddy's backyard. And I'll do it again, too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game except for the "tunnel" mini game. there needs to be more time or have it move slower, definately not fun and very fustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game my 5 yr daughter loved it, simple mechanics fun and very easy to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have not played for very long but i enjoy the concept and it plays well on my steam deck!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cute game about dogs. It's nice and worth the price.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute game in which you walk, feed and play with your dogs. Bought it on a whim when it was cheap, just to play something different and because...well, cute puppies. I can't recommend getting it for full price, but if you or your child enjoy games like these you won't regret getting it when on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You walk, feed, play with your pups. The story is cute and the puppies are cuter! Took me 13hrs to 100% achievements on this game which is not bad at all. Some parts were a slight grind to level up your pups, but once you had at least 1 with max stats it got much easier. Also the cosmetics are so adorable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Friends: Puppy Island is a wholesome and lighthearted experience that captures the simple joy of companionship, discovery, and care in a bright, tropical setting. Developed by Big Blue Bubble and published by Fireshine Games, it presents itself as a cheerful blend of pet simulator, exploration game, and resort management adventure. The premise is straightforward yet charming—you arrive on a sunny island paradise filled with puppies waiting to be cared for, trained, and loved. What…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely game about collecting and taking care of little pups. This game really gave me vibes of Nintendogs, one of my favorite childhood games. While it is repetetive in a lot of ways, I'm someone that doesn't mind it, especially when I get to look at cute puppy faces for the whole time playing. Main story is about 12 hours long if you just focus on progression. Not too long and not too short in my opinion I wish there was more to explore, more dog breeds and a little bit more customization…
