I'll keep this brief. The only positive thing I can say is that the game has nice looking locations with enough variety. For everything else just one sentence can describe everything listed here: numb and utterly boring. Which means: - no challenge at all - mindlessly running right with occasional jumps or slides - I felt numb during the game-play - at the beginning it felt like an interesting and funny story, but …

Everything I l o v e about video games: QTEs, mediocre and unchallenging platforming, unskippable cutscenes, unskippable long animations, actions that take 3 button presses to execute or the game has no idea if you actually wanted to do the thing and collectables that are there to force you to replay levels without the ability to skip custcenes. The jumping area is a nightmare. You need at least 5 meters of platform …

It feels like an adventure performed on an overblown stage, light on its feet and full of flair. The depth may be shallow, but the spectacle is rich—and that extravagance is exactly what makes it charming.

I really don’t understand the negative reviews. This game is a beautiful masterpiece. The environment is breathtaking, vast, beautiful, and designed in a way that makes you feel small within a grand world. The story is wonderfully crafted, filled with exciting and several funny moments. It also supports many languages, including right-to-left ones like Arabic. I played it in Arabic, and the translation is excellent! …

Great Game! - Amazingly fun to play. - The graphics are well made. - The story is funny. By the way this game triggers "Prince of Persia" and "Indiana Jones: infernal machine" vibes. :D

64% of the 192 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Little Orpheus. The complaint that keeps coming up: very simple, unchallenging gameplay. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Little Orpheus received "mixed or average" reviews according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Fellow review aggregator OpenCritic assessed that the game received weak approval, being recommended by 34% of critics. Matt Gardner writing for Forbes gave the game a mixed review, praising its story but criticizing its gameplay: "Little Orpheus over-relies its strongest assets–great voice acting, an intriguing script, beautiful art, and engaging gameplay–and doesn't hit these highs with its core gameplay." Nintendo Life's Lowell Bell criticized the narration of the game: "there's no narrative payoff here, no greater meaning or memorable conclusion that sticks with you". Develop awarded it…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is extremely easy platform jumper. You mostly just keep playing it for the story line adventure, which is interesting but ends up going no where. I would recommend it to a younger age range of 8-12 years or just a casual gamer, if it wasn't for a few bugs also in the game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Orpheus Tall tales Little Orpheus, a former Apple Arcade exclusive, finally makes its way over to PC with mixed results. While the game is visually striking and for the most part looks gorgeous, you can immediately see how its hampered by originally being an exclusive game to mobile devices as Little Orpheus provides very little platforming and puzzle solving challenge (the puzzles in particular are incredibly weak and don't require any brain power to solve). This was no doubt hampered…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun little walking simulator/2d platformer that's generally worth checking out. However, there is a game breaking bug in the 2nd to last level which might stop you. Kept me playing just long enough to not be able to get a refund when I deserve one. Screw this game.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My five year old son and I began this journey together not knowing what we were diving into. This game will always have a place in our hearts as it was our first game to play together over a span of multiple days, start to finish. The dinosaur level was hands down, awesome. He loved it so much, yet, couldn't help but throw me the phone and cover his eyes when the T-Rex popped out. I realize this review may not be helpful to most, but if it is, for even just one, it's worth it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of a simplified 2d Little Nightmares like game. The graphics, voice acting, and game play are all really good. That said, I think the mixed rating is warranted. The game promises you early on you need to know the whole story to understand what happened, but ultimately none of it comes together. Some people will probably like it but I found myself sympathizing with the general and getting frustrated with the main character. There will definitely be many players who feel like the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished a game called Little Orpheus today. It's stylistically great, and animates well. It even has some inventive visual ideals...but they never improve on the simple left to right basic platforming much and so the game suffers from repetition. There are better games that do this kind of thing.
negative · AI labelView post →one of those games where a narrator never stops talking
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an imaginative and whimsical tale, charmingly voiced and animated, but the negatives overwhelm the positives. The game is relatively short, and the gameplay is very easy despite slightly unresponsive controls. I could have given the game a thumbs-up in spite of all that, but towards the end there are frequent bugs so bad you have to restart the entire chapter over and over until you are lucky enough to have a glitch-free run. Seriously, how did this train wreck even get released?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty (as expected with a Chinese Room game) with good music (as expected with a Chinese Room game) but it's also a very simple puzzle platformer with barely any puzzles just walking (also as expected with a Chinese Room game) and narration that tells a story (as expected with... I think you get the point by now). Make no mistake, this is a walking simulator disguised as a puzzle platformer, and while that's not automaticaly a bad thing it is in this case. While it looks pretty good, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's boring. The story has some good moments, at least. I cleared the game in under 5 hours and it still felt too long. In a poor effort to add replay value, there are costumes that can be unlocked by getting collectibles. Though said collectables only appear after you already cleared that level, and I didn't want to play again. Also, the game has some bugs that required restarting the game to fix.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this for the gameplay. Buy it for the humour, the beautiful environments, and the great soundtrack. I had 4 absolutely hilarious hours with it. The ending didn't bother me, I felt it fits the story. Gameplay is light platforming, light stealth, light quick time events and light chase sequences. I found it very approachable and chill.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and wacky game. Story is funny and interesting. Gameplay and art is good. In episode 8 there is problem that breaks game because you die many times with no reason. Lucky there is guide in Steam help fix bug.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING! Unplayable due to soft lock bug in later episodes! In the second to last episode, the game breaks at a certain point and instantly kills you with no regard for your hitbox. A bit later if you do everything correctly, the game decides that it is a failure state and counts you as dead and forces a restart, even if you are still alive and moving! Worst of all, is when you respawn on that broken part or in the air and continuously fall and respawn only to die again. Restarting the level…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just go right. Little Orpheus is a side scroller walking game. Just keep presing ''D'' for the most part. There is some platforming and chase events but nothing much. It is an easy and simple game. It would take you about 3-4 hours to walk all the way to the end. While simple in gameplay the levels are very pretty and well made. As you traverse wild worlds you are being narated by, well, you, Ivan Ivanovich. As you tell the tale of your journey deep deep below. It is a funny story, not one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite I really enjoyed the beginning of story, the visual and the dialogs (since I speak both English and Russian), I can’t recommend the game because I of it’s really low quality. The plot is boring, the gameplay is repetitive, and its final is just disappointing. Also, there are some minor bugs in this game in addition to the major one which really has drove me crazy (the Ep.8 “death loop”). All those bugs are well known but they aren’t solved until this very moment. This game should be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game that I would have recommended but for two reasons. One the ending of the story, which is basically the entire focus of the game, is very weak and makes me want to get back the 11 hours I spent 100%ing this game and two, there is a debilitating glitch that the China Room, the developers of this game, neglected to fix on the final level of the game which makes doing a play through of it almost impossible unless you are able to find a work around yourself. I tried to reload the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good graphics, nice music, an excellent narrative, great voice acting, but utterly tedious gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ha, this one is interesting. its like Roberto Benigni and Stanley Kubrick had a child, This is very heavly story driven game based on "delusional" experiences of main protagonist introduced during interrigation. Main story goes through 8 separate worlds tied together by focal point - retivieving introduced in title little orpheus. I think this game could work with younger audience which for sure appreciate totally unbelievable story. Game is 2.5D platformer - a lot of reviews are right, you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hands down the weakest and most confusing title from The Chinese Room studio thus far. “Confusing” might initially seem like an inappropriate choice of word here, since The Chinese Room was never known for the approachability of their artistic vision. However, in the case of Little Orpheus, the confusion arises not from the audience’s receiving end, where one tries to see through the fog of obscurity, to analyze its artistic motivation, to deduce the message it conveys, etc. No, this time,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't a very good game. It's charming but it's not something I'd recommend. The Chinese Room's walking sims all have the same sort of problem and that's that they've never managed to fuse narrative into gameplay in interesting ways. They're overly reliant on audio logs and voice-over in general, and that's just not a terribly interesting way to get information or be told a story when you're playing a game. They've been awarded for their storytelling chops, which will always baffle me,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was it hard? No. Was it fun? Yes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Generally speaking, I enjoy walking simulators, platformers, and creative storytelling... but The Chinese Room always seems to disappoint for me, making some of the worst games the genre has to offer... and this one is no different. The game is slow, the characters are annoying, the story is such utter nonsense that one can't even simply suspend their disbelief as seems to be the point of the story... but the gameplay and mechanics seem to be inspired by what is, in my opinion, the worst era…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know the reviews are mixed and I agree with a bit of both sides, however I still recommend the game BUT want to let y'all know the details. The game has beautiful designs and a quirky/funny story to go along with it. The controls are very simple and a super easy game to complete. You are going to take about 30-ish minutes per episode and is a great game to play when you don't know what you wanna play. The game DOES crash A LOT during the 8th episode which really sucks, however I got around it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm surprised at some of the reviews seriously commenting on simple game mechanics or lack of twists in the story. The game is for KIDS!!! to play with their parents together. It is an adventure in beautiful settings, with a good story that teaches kids the power of imagination and kindness, yet may be somewhat amusing for adults. It is even very conveniently divided into chapters, so you can play just one or two before putting your child to bed. The game actually stops and tells you that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review after 100% : This is one of those games thats okay-ish, not bad but also not great either. These are the things that stand out about this game: + Simple & short cozy game, also very easy to 100% + Funny banter between the only 2 characters in the game + Graphically pleasant scene in some of the area - Looks like platformer puzzle game, but actually more of walking simulator - Stages are very linear, literally just need to the other far edge of the map everytime - Puzzle are non…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a mostly entertaining adventure. Although ostensibly a platformer in the style of something like Limbo or Black: The Fall, it's more of a light platforming adventure. The big thing you're going to be in for is a mostly entertaining story, game mechanics taking a backseat (and when they do become intrusive, it gets kind of annoying, particularly in the "bonus" episode where it becomes a janky side-scrolling shooter.) The episodic nature, taking influence from old sci-fi serials and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is not a strong recommend but overall I had a good time with it. Just do not expect anything innovative or amazing. It's an okay game. I sometimes like linear simple relaxing games and this was exactly that. I enjoyed the bonus episode the most, so if you finish the game I recommend checking it out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"So, we all agree this was the fabled land of Plutonia, are we? I don't remember accepting that." "I will admit it might not have been Plutonia if you are prepared to accept the dinosaur." I think this might be the easiest game I have ever played. (Well, except for the end of that bonus episode 9. Wth was that?) I was sold on this game 5 seconds into the trailer. I had no idea what to expect when I started this game, but I absolutely loved it! Though the gameplay was nothing special (the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a platformer, it's a walking sim. Take it for that, then you can enjoy the beautiful graphic, and don't need to care about the missing items, simple actions, lightweight puzzles. Makes sense , based on the creators' other games. It's still good, but it feels like they run out of their budget (ideas?) before they could finis it. The story is unfinished, and at the end it feels like it is entirely pointless, no meaning. The last episode is an utter nonsense.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright, It's very simplistic. Graphics are nice, music is fine. There's not much actual gameplay here. It's a platformer, but most of the time, like 90-95%, it's just running right. There are a few puzzles and platforming sections, but they are all very basic I didn't personally like the "episodic" structure of the game, it just wastes time for the intros and outros, and adds absolutely nothing to the narrative or the game. The storytelling could be considered a little cringe at…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An indie gem, and a love letter to Jump'n'Run. "Little Orpheus" is a sweet little homage to Side-Scrollers and historic/mythologic legends such as Atlantis or the Hollow Earth. Simple game mechanics, a lovely story, and a soundtrack that often reminded me of the Indiana Jones movies by Spielberg, "Little Orpheus" shows, that games don't need over-complicated concepts to be considered "good".
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very, very easy platformer, walking simulator with narrative. To be honest, this mostly look like the narrative was the main thing, the platofrming game only the background to show lush environment. This game is very, very action lacking in action department, and not even puzzle wise in any sort. It also has buggy elements at the end of the game that make you close and start the game (luckily without restarting the level) to proceed. As a narrative game with light comedic tone it will pass…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Orpheus can be summed up in three words: boring, boring, boring. I genuinely have no idea who the target audience is. Kids will probably find the story too weird, while adults will spend most of the game waiting for something, anything, to happen. The platforming is so easy that I’m not convinced it can legally be classified as gameplay. You jump, you run, you occasionally avoid an obstacle, and before you know it you've completed another section while your brain was busy thinking about…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Orpheus is a fun, comedic 2D platformer filled with whimsy and keeps you coming back for more. You play as Ivan Ivanovich, a man that had been missing for three years and is being interrogated by a general about the whereabouts of the bomb he had been sent to the center of the earth with. Every chapter is a new story that sounds outlandish and wild, but is somehow connected in the grand scheme of it all. It's as if Journey to the Center of the Earth became a side-scrolling platformer…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually very nice and an entertaining if fairly easy 2.5d platformer along the lines of the Little Nightmares series but with some (fairly cringey, but very creative, storytelling). Be aware it is buggy though. On the second last chapter it kept inexplicably dying randomly over and over again and cloning new versions of the main character.

Little Orpheus (I know I mentioned it twice) and Still Wakes The Deep (didn't play it). The short answer is a resounding YES, the long answer will be in the review below and it might shock you. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ The story is funny. It's light and constantly evolving and intriguing. A little dramatic at the end which I like and find logical. Also very surprised by all the references to russian history and geo. Omsk/Tomsk mixing up was especially heartwarming for me as I live around these two. Unfortunately this is the only positive moment in the game. - The game is boring as hell. My biggest complain is that playthrough is very primitive.
