This is a very interesting game, but it is COMPLETELY hostile to new players. The game has an impressive amount of units, options, and choices in a give match, but while that creates amazing depth of play for veterans, it is an veritable WALL of complexity for new players. Great fun. As I’ve gotten older and no longer have the time or reflexes to keep up with traditional RTS games, Mechabellum has been a really enjoyable alternative. There’s plenty of strategy and depth without needing to constantly micromanage everything. Easy to get into, but with enough depth to keep things interesting. Fully recommend if you enjoy strategy games.

Mechabellum is what a true strategy game should be. It rewards skill, planning, positioning, and decision-making rather than luck. As a Millennial dad with young kids, this game scratches the strategy RTS itch incredibly well while respecting your time. I love the quick matches and the focus on decision making as opposed to macro/micro control of units and base building. 10/10 one of the best value strategy games I’ve ever played.

Loved this game and have more than got my money's worth. For the good times I've had I do thank the developers. Unfortunately it's become another showcase example of how developers can slowly ruin their own game by stubbornly refusing to take community feedback seriously let alone address it. At it's peak it was a fun, auto-battler with layers of strategic and tactical depth as you tried to outwit your opponent with clever positioning or predicting their next move. It's slowly degenerated…

Game is alright but needs a prominent Multiplayer tag in all honesty. Nearly any fun to be had out of this game is multiplayer only with the singleplayer experience extremely lacking and boring. Edit: The new "roguelite" mode is just the same singleplayer mode but you get to choose some bonuses before starting a run now! Such a magnificent step forward. /sarcasm My review before remains unchanged.

Frankly this is insulting to those who already owned the game. Ignoring battlepasses are truly a plague upon the gaming industry, the fact they didn't even give it to the people who owned the game for free, instead giving us a truly pathetic offering of compensation feels greedy and insulting. I am not even necessarily oppossed to their free to play edition, I just think the way it was done seems genuinely disrespectful.

Mechabellum is a fun game. But in it's current state, I can't recommand it. The game has been out for more than 2 years now and there's barely 1000 people playing, and the people playing are mostly veterans and sweat players that knows more about all the cheap tricks then you ever will unless you're ready to invest hundreds of hours in the game. So therefore the matchmaking is screwed, as you will get mismatched most of the time because the player base is just not there anymore, or you will…

There's one thing that's eminently funny to me regarding the meta of the game Mechabellum; there's this unit called the marksman that's cheap, can have very versatile loadouts, don't take a lot of room on the field and are generally long ranged damage dealers.

My tooth problem's been killing my productivity but what hasn't helped is a three day long run of about a dozen losses in Mechabellum, the game I use to unwind. Not fun losses either. Droppes my ELO by a full hundred.

It was fun. I have spent plenty of time in it. If you want to play it, play for free. The community is meta-chasing as all competitive communities are and it can be very difficult to have any casual fun. I love this game, I find the play of it the strategies, techs and rock paper scissors style very fun and I keep coming back for more hoping the game has gotten better but like some other reviews there is some major underlying issues that mean I just cannot recommend this game anymore which saddens me greatly. Speaking of giant robots, Mechabellum is now mostly-free and a great quickfire multiplayer game. It's 100% mind-games. Outside of the new solo mode (which plays a bit like The Bazaar) you're always guessing what the other player's next move is and trying to preempt their preempting of your moves.

Mainly got this game because of the temptation of the roguelike mode that was added, and since most of my immediate friends are probably more interested in that aspect as well, I'm reviewing it accordingly. While the game is objectively a good autobattler, the lack of control can mean feeling completely powerless when you're presented with a new opponent between rounds whose entire strategy counters your own without you being allowed much room to re-orient what you have. This is made worse by…

Your player base has been gutted and is declining. It is because of buildings, full stop. We are seeing mmr compression and longer wait times. Multiple large scale surveys have shown that buildings are the problem for the reduction in player base. Remove buildings or the game dies, how is this complicated?

Somehow in the process of balancing their game they managed to unbalance their game.... I have been playing for half a year. The devs are very active and that's awesome. However, if an active dev team can bring a game down so hard over just a couple months, it may be worth slowing down... Too many changes too often too fast leading to a very unenjoyable experience. There is a lot more to say but I don't want to spend the time to type it all out.

No need to be a mouse athlete with your "APM", your "macro", your "hotkeys" and "control groups", your exploitation of - let's be absolutely frank here - BUGS. No obtuse interface for the sake of being obtuse. I'm not 20 anymore, so I can't (and by the gods, don't want to) play Starcraft anymore. But Mechabellum is just crack…

This auto‑battler is surprisingly innovative. I’ve been playing for a while, and the developers are very active, consistently adding fresh ideas with each major update. The core gameplay is straightforward: you choose a starting bonus, place units each round, and after every battle both you and your opponents draft from the same pool of four cards until someone runs out of HP. It follows the familiar structure of most auto‑battlers, but with some unique twists. There are three game modes 1v1,…

If you’re looking for a solid strategy game with great mech and vehicle designs this might be right up your alley. Mechabellum has been a absolute blast so far, at its heart, it’s a tactical auto-battler where you place giant robots, tanks, and aircraft on a grid and watch them duke it out in real-time. You aren’t micromanaging units during the fight; instead you’re constantly analyzing your opponent’s tactics and countering it with specific upgrades, new units, or specialized air strikes.…

If you know what Direct Strike is, this is exactly that, another Warcraft 3/Starcraft 2 mod turned into a standalone game. It's really complex too, there's so many units in a bunch of different tiers, they all have their own upgrades and can gain veterancy too. It's centered around multiplayer, but it's casual multiplayer, kinda like Hearthstone or Auto-chess. You don't have to be a gigasweat and play piano on the keyboard to be able to play this well, you just need to know unit-counters. The…

Is Mechabellum a unique and breathtaking robochess game? Yes, it definitely is. Is the PvP mode exciting and challenging at the same time? Yes, it is both exciting and challenging. Does it get easier when you spend a lot of time practicing? No, it does not- as other players also train a lot, and some of them have more time to train than you. If…

Mechabellum is one of the best game I ever purchased. There, I said it. And I've yet to see another Autobattler tackling what it does for now. I always pitch it as: It's chess, but you deepen the gameplay a bunch, and you get to watch cool robots fighting each others after each moves. And you can play up to 4. What differenciate it to so many other autobattlers: Outside of the starter set you can pick at the beginning of each game, and the loadout of techs you bring to the table to be bought…

This game basically is StarCraft Terran vs Terran as an autobattler. Definitly a solid pick up for the price :)

I have a Palestinian flag as my avatar on Steam. So when I play people in games that use it they see and might remember or feel solidarity. I just had a game of Mechabellum against a chinese mainland player and he saw the flag and thought I was from Palestine (I am not, just expressing love)

The game is genuenly fun and I wholly recommend trying the free edition. However, the issues are far too much to ignore, and thus I'm writing a negative review. I'm used to playing autobattlers, but not super experienced with them. Mechabellum feels like most units got the warframe treatment of being insanely powerful. The whole system is built on hard-counters, where unless you know the exact counter to your opponent's units, you're screwed. Some units feel like they ruin your entire…

Buying this game on discount for the monetary equivalent of a scoop of icecream in the city of Zurich is like bumming a cigarette of a passer by and getting a super silver haze joint. That is to say it’s fantastic and a bargain.

Cool game but poor user experience... Matchmaking isnt quite good. I am guessing it is because there are not many players to play against which puts you against more seasoned players and veterans. The time to set up and take decisions during a PvP match is really short which puts a little too much stress. I would've liked if the lower MMR you have, the more time you get to buy/sell, setup units. But as you would get higher MMR, then you would have less time as you will have learned more. The…

This game is amazing, in my top 5 ever played. Its chess, its starcraft, its giant mechs. I know the buildings update was devise in the community, I'm typically in the 800-1000MR range). There's enough variety with heroes, units, and upgrades to keep me playing. Even with losses I can typically understand (after many hours) why I lost, what I would need to do differently and how I can keep refining my strategy. 2v2 format is really great as well with some fun competition and cheesy strategy…
