METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER
Developer KONAMI
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a 2025 action-adventure stealth game developed and published by Konami. It is a remake of the 2004 game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the fifth main entry in the Metal Gear franchise and the first chronologically. Set in 1964, it follows a FOX operative codenamed Naked Snake, who must rescue a prominent Soviet rocket scientist and sabotage the Soviet nuclear superweapon… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

What people are saying
Mostly positive, but performance issues and high price divide players.
Many players praise the game as a faithful and beautiful remake of a classic, with improved controls and a timeless story. One player notes it preserves the oozing style of the original while having gorgeous graphics, and another calls it "a borderline perfect remake of a borderline perfect game." [11][15]
However, significant criticism focuses on poor performance, a 60 FPS lock, and a high price. One player states the horrible performance, visuals that don’t match the gameplay, and the extremely high price really hold it back, while another calls the $80 price "a joke price for ANY game." Some also report gamebreaking bugs. [36][1][32]

Critics, per Wikipedia
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Writing in Rolling Stone, Christopher Cruz mostly praised the game, but criticized it for adhering too closely to the original, finding that unlike the 2024 remake of the 2001 game Silent Hill 2, "Delta doesn't fundamentally change the game or make it feel new. In fact, it feels especially old in ways both good and bad...", stating that players' familiarity with the original would determine how much they would enjoy the remake. Cruz concluded his review by writing that "[f]or now, we're left to dine on reheated leftovers." In Japan, 63,585 physical…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The frame-rate and graphics problems still persist many months after release. Cannot recommend until Konami decides to value my dollar.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It pains me to rate this negatively since you'll all see I poured in a good amount of time playing the game in both Normal and Legacy modes but I need to. Since it's a faithful remake, there's nothing else I can praise on the core gameplay that hasn't been said before in the past 20 years. The QOL improvements and graphics is something I can praise currently, even including the Snake vs Monkey mode. In my eyes, MGS3 was perfection. However I still have to not recommend this for now since it's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Upfront: I did not play the original MSG3. Also, I chose the "Modern" style for the campaign. Everything in this game is bonkers. The story borders on rambling with 30-minute exposition dumps about Cold War political financing, then a guy who controls bees explodes and yells, "The pain!" The amount of detail and craftsmanship that went into everything is bonkers. The game gives you a lot of freedom in how you approach it, and it can accommodate all of your choices into the story. I have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh man. Its a solid remake but the asking price is insane. Not enough is different to actually justify the price change Wait for deep sale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nearly two months after release, there's still a gamebreaking bug of the game freezing hard if you tranquilize enemies during the jungle escape/escort part just before the final boss battle. My first two attempts ended with my needing to terminate the process via task manager after firing tranq shots at the pursuers. A quick Google search revealed it has been a fairly consistent issue for some users. It's a shame because the overall remake is terrific. Outside of just the obvious new models,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game comes from an era when the quality of games was measured not by the number of repetitive side quests or the size of the open world, but by the depth of character development and the variety of locations. The limited power of consoles at the time forced developers to work hard on their games so that not a single KB of data was wasted. Hideo Kojima has always been the Dostoevsky of the Japanese game development world. For most unprepared players, this will be an arthouse action movie…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Revolutionary Classic I don't know what to say, such an insane game. Really revolutionary. It's already been acknowledged as a masterpiece and I agree, so I'll keep this very short. A Timeless Classic It's my first time playing this game and the details in this game are still mind-blowing. You almost never see this level of attention to detail unless you are playing a Rockstar game. It is the Red Dead Redemption 2 of its time, and like RDR2, MGS3 is a much better experience than almost all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me be clear. This is a masterpiece of a game wrapped in a frustratingly unoptimized package, and that's exactly why I can't recommend it in good conscience. The remake itself is stunning. The jungle environments are gorgeous, the stealth gameplay holds up beautifully, and the story remains one of gaming's greatest. Seeing Snake Eater rebuilt from the ground up is genuinely emotional for longtime fans. But here's the reality: I had to dig into ini files just to get the game running…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good, but not worth its price, let's be honest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FOX HUNT (the multiplayer mode) is genuinely fun. konami PLEASE add crossplay, the player count isn't looking good on PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, unfortunately it looks terrible because of UE5 refusing to do actual native rendering. TSR Native looks like a smeary mess, FSR/DLSS looks fuzzy. UE5 sucks stop using it. The rain ALWAYS looks terrible in it, Oblivion remastered has the same issue. Edit: to trolls whining about it, I'd rather have the original PS2 graphics than some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ upscaler/temporal AA making every scene with rain look a frozen internet explorer window.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They remastered the game I played as a kid, it looks exactly how my child brain thought it looked.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, the story is incredible, but the horrible performance, visuals that don’t match the gameplay, and the extremely high price really hold it back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An improvement in some instances but a downgrade in others... Pros: - Cool new graphics. - Camos can be equipped using the d-pad instead of pausing the game - Improved Gun-handling - Very faithful to the original story wise - Original voice cast - They bought back Cynthia Harrell to sing a new version of snake eater and it’s REALLY GOOD. She’s still got it. - Clearer audio (easier to hear voices over other noises) Cons: - Expensive $116-131 AUD. - Noticeable audio clipping in some cutscenes.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jerking themselves off about building it in unreal engine 5 and then having everything locked to 60 fps while charging a ridiculous price is absolutely criminal for a pc game in this age, it looks and feels awful playing on a 360 hz OLED even with Gsync, add in the fact you have to setup shaders every single time the game is booted up makes this a permanent negative review. The solution to the terrible frame rate is to go into nvidia app and enable smooth motion, this completely fixes the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is an EXPENSIVE, better looking, but significantly worse performing version of the classic game it’s based on. I’m giving this a negative review for a couple of reasons. 1. The game’s performance does not justify its 70$ price tag. Unacceptable 60 FPS lock and wack frame times, UE5 jank at its worse… 2. As a remake and introduction to the Metal Gear Solid franchise for the first time, I think this entry should be the last game you play of the original trilogy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I had just turned 6, my dad took me to a BlockBuster to rent me a game for my brand new PS2. I liked snakes so I wanted to play the "snake eater game" because the cover looked cool. My dad and I proceeded to play until 230 in the morning that night. That was over 20 years ago and I still have really fond memories of this game. I was worried I was gonna just be nostalgia bated into getting this and I'm sure some of it is nostalgia, but I'm having such a good time. Absolutely recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →maybe come back to this when it gets a proper optimize update or something, it looks and can play really great but the fps just isnt there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not bad but the price is outrageous. maybe for 80% off its worth
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MGS3: Snake Eater was probably the game I replayed the most when all I had in my youth was free time and a PS2. The remake preserves the oozing style of the original while having gorgeous graphics that make the original story only more of a spectacle to remember. There's a ton of nods to the crowd who played the original without being intrusive or leaving new players in the dark. I am biased. I truly do think that this game's narrative, while having Kojima's various, """quirks""", is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game with substandard 9th gen graphics runs terribly on above standard 9th gen hardware. While I'm personally insulated by my setup, there's no shot the recommended 10 GB 3080 is maintaining a steady 60fps at even Quality 2k and zero chance the minimum specs will result in anything but a 2060 Super shaped hole melted through your desk. And if the Oblivion Remaster's status as abandonware is any indication, the game will stay this way. It plays exactly the same. There is no attempt to…

positive · AI labelView post →Even after going through the effort of implementing two of the most recommended community fixes, the game barely scratches 60 FPS on average. If they had stuck with the original FOX Engine from MGSV, the game still would have received a massive graphical upgrade compared to its original 2004 release—and it would have run so much better than this. Unless they go back, optimize the engine, and lower the hardware requirements (which I highly doubt they ever will), I cannot recommend purchasing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“I give my life, not for honor, but for you..” This was my first time playing a Metal Gear game, and I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much. The mix of deep story, great voice acting, unforgettable characters and those weirdly funny moments made it something special, hands down one of the best games I've ever played, I laughed, got emotional, and even got confused a few times, but in the best way possible. Now I am a certified Snake Eater. ''I raised you. I loved you. I’ve given you weapons,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kojima had no input in this games creation + microtransactions added. Just emulate metal gear solid 3 Snake eater instead. last thing greedy japanese corpos need is money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refunded. DOES NOT Support super ultra wide or ultra wide resolutions. This is absolutely shameful for a AAA-priced game. A studio like Konami has the budget and know-how, there is zero reason for that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been an Metal Gear fan since I was a kid. For reference, I'm in my late 30s. Ive been looking forward to this remake since they announced it and was excited to revisit this game with updated gameplay. Some of the new features are pretty nice, like changing camouflage without entering the menu and having a 3rd person camera. These are revolutionary changes to the original gameplay. However, that's about where the improvemetns end. Yes, the graphics are nicer, but thats to be expected with a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →another overpriced triple a game, only took me 10 hours to beat it and even then i was just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around, people have beaten it glitchless in under an hour, another example of why steam needs to finally add fraction based ratings for games, i cant just simply decide between whether i love or hate this game, it was good no doubt about it, but 70 dollars for 10 hours of entertainment IF youre just messing around is ridiculous, most people would say to play the extra modes, but it isnt exactly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems like it might be a fun game if they get the absolute atrocious performance under control. On one of my PCs, 9800x3D, ProArt 4080 Super, 32GB DDR5 CL18 running at 6000 MT/s the cut scenes have a difficult time hitting 40-50 FPS and that is with DLSS Quality on!!! Seriously WTH? How can a game be this poorly optimized? I'm at my time limit for a return so even though I'd like to continue this is a return for me. Get your stuff together Konami. Seriously sad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think this is necessarily a terrible remake. The options to allow for legacy filters and controls is pretty unheard of for most remakes. The models and the newly mocapped cutscenes are really good but that's about it for the positives. If you are on a PC with anything less than an RTX 4070 in terms of performance you should not even bother. The general performance level is abysmal as my fairly powerful rig cannot run this game at a locked 60fps at native 1440p with high shadows/global…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of nowhere, Konami took it upon themselves the Herculean task of recreating one of the greatest games ever made. And as catastrophic as the range of possibilities may look, incredibly, they succeeded. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a borderline perfect remake of a borderline perfect game. And it is precisely so because of the incredible level of respect displayed by Konami and the ex-KJP members. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, it doesn't try to "modernize" or adapt the story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have the NVIDIA app, enable the smoothing option for this game. I did this and even though the game is locked at 60 FPS, I can still have a good experience with 120 FPS which has fake 60 frames but is stable and more enjoyable. The only saving grace for this edition of the game for me is the save and load system. I don't have to look at the logos everytime the enemy sees my pinky toe.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very poorly optmized; no ultrawide, 60 fps lock. After first playing, booting it up again gives me an "out of memory" and then a "fatal error" error message. This is a broken release. Avoid it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean, its an iconic game but my issues with it are: 60fps locked UE5 (although I notice this less since its locked at 60fps, but if it wasnt I bet I would be more annoyed) Outrageously expensive MG3 is a classic, but please don't pay full price for it, its starting to go on sale from time to time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good -Super fun gameplay -Music 10/10 -Silly and entertaining story -you can play the game in many ways The bad -performance is really poor, even with good and up to date hardware -Fps lock to 60

neutral · AI labelView post →As someone who's never played a Metal Gear Solid game, I had a great time with this remake. The game has some annoying moments and some boss fights led to me just looking stuff up, but nothing that ever made me want to quit. After finishing this, I want to play more Metal Gear.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →masterpiece of a stealth game, though Hideo Kojima still deserves a lot of the credit as they didn't fundamentally change the game design or story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun excuse to re-experience a classic with some quality of life changes, but overall as solid as ever
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damn good game, i was worried since it is a remastered version, but they kept Hideo Kojima's original spirit of the game 90% of the way, and that's really good. Music 10/10, Gameplay&Strategy 10/10, EVA 11/10. Only thing i want fixed - When you hold up an enemy i want NEED them to twerk when they drop their items. Ruined the game for me other than that, it is a beautiful game and Cynthia Harrell's voice is just perfect for this, her voice is beautiful, also EVA shes hot, HOT AF.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 remake, cop it on sale for $48 or less. With the DLC it'll come out to $63 or so which is still less than the base game + even more discounted than the deluxe edition. Game is fun to play, new aiming system is nice except for the fact that the tranq pistol ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SUCKS with the updated system. They wanted to make it harder to use the tranq pistol in third person aiming but instead of implementing Peace Walker or MGS V's system, they went and made the tranq pistol completely inconsistent…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly my pc couldn't keep up with the game and I had to refunded due to crashes and stutters. Poorly optimized (As expected in an unreal engine game) RIP
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 — Recommended (With Caveats) If you loved the original 2004 Snake Eater, this is a tough one to score. The core game is still an absolute masterpiece. The story is legendary, the creative combat is amazing, and messing with the systems like spinning Snake in the viewer to cure dizziness is still incredibly fun. Plus, the modern shooting controls they added feel fantastic. But playing it today with seasoned eyes and modern gaming hindsight exposes a lot of cracks. Because it's a strict…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game! At first, I found the game incredibly boring, and I even considered giving up, but I decided to continue, and I don't regret it for a second. The graphics, music, and gameplay (both the new and original ones) are superb. And the directing is simply stunning. It felt like I was watching a whole movie. All the characters are interesting and well-written, each with their own unique personality. I really liked Ocelot; he brightened my day every time he appeared on screen,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Legendary MGS. Eva the mother of snakes - great WoMen! The only big disadvantage is that this is port from playstation 5 cannot even be set above 60 Hz on the monitor, this limitation is simply annoying. Konami making clear that they are console wankers

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a bad game, but... Aside from the performance issues (Konami strikes it twice in a row with MGS3 Delta and Silent Hill f), it's a title straight from 2004. Nothing changed or upgraded (except "the shoulder" view) since then. As a newbie to this series, it felt not so good. The clunky animations and character movement, boring gameplay, screen loads every 5 meters, and a few minor bugs. To say the least, it's outdated for 2025. I'm NOT recommending it for the full price. Other than that, the gameplay is the same as original MGS3, but with QoL features and modernized controls. P.S.
