What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 65 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (52 of 95 positive).
Some players find the morphing mechanic and combat satisfying, especially when forcing enemies into traps. [1][2][3] Others criticize the game as abandoned, with bugs, crashes, and a lack of polish. [4][5][6][7] Several reviewers note the game feels like a mobile port with clunky controls and no music. [8][9][10]

FALSE ADVERTISING Another Steam game advertising "Full Controller Support" that is 100% incorrect. Even the Dev says to unplug your gamepad to play the game.. Otherwise you get a blue screen at start-up or as soon as you plug your controller in. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME if you expect it to work with a controller!

Unfinished and abandoned ARPG. Not worth playing unless it's touched again by the devs. == tried again in 2026 == At this point it's been 7 years so the devs have completely abandoned this. It's a slow sluggish uninspiring ARPG which isn't worth your time.

So, after the first 30 minutes, I walked away happy with what I have experienced. I have only unlocked 2 of the 3 characters, and switching between them for combos is very satisfying. However, I think the game shines in forcing your foes into their own traps. This is highly encouraged in the beginning of the game and is a blast. I am excited to unlock the third character and unlock skills and learn combos to destroy …

One of the most fun ARPGs I've played. Each level is less than 4 minutes long and works like a puzzle. There are no useless loot drops every couple of minutes like some other ARPGs and the progression is simple but very satsifying. unlocking new spirit forms and unlocking abilites for them is always exciting. Each of the forms work VERY differently from the others and you will HAVE to shuffle between them dr=uring …

Truth in reviewing: I was a late addition to the beta team and got a copy for free. I've enjoyed my time with MetaMorph. It's a good, solid dungeon crawler with some fine carnage and tight, well-paced levels. It doesn't do anything particularly revolutionary with the Gauntlet template, but it has a samurai bunny rabbit and flying buzzsaws. It's the little things. The gimmick of the game is simple enough: you play a …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun top-down view, arcade style, hack & slash dungeon crawler. I like that you can transform between different MetaMorphs as you plow through hordes of skeletons and other creatures in order to save your captured goblin friends. I also enjoyed smashing through walls with the golem and dodging dangerous traps. Check out my gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cHa_wXpzTQ&feature=youtu.be

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot tell if this game is broken or just poorly done. There is very little in the way of sound, none of the combat is at all satisfying. Feels like a cheap mobile game poorly ported to Steam. Got this in the Jingle Jam and am glad I didn't pay for it directly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Runs really well for an Early Access game, looks okay and the fundamental gameplay seems interesting. The problem I have with the game is that it is a bit slow and the combat lacks the satisfaction of some other games out there. The switching mechanic is a nice addition, but it just emphasizes how slow the ogre is. I know he is supposed to be like that but in my opinion he is only good for switching to, smashing something and immediately switching back. Just giving the "main character" more…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very good game, especially for its price, I have done the first 20 dungeons and no bugs or complaints so far
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Staying up for the Brazil game. Elusive - Metamorph (5.6% Black IPA). Effortlessly drinkable, resinous with a pleasant roasted finish. #BIPAComeback #BSkyBeer
neutral · AI labelView post →Not much to this one, it looks okay but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I have played far better dungeon crawlers, this one is just a linear game with very little imagination.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely an early access game. The gameplay itself is completely fine (although a little weird at first), and the artwork is great (for the most part). But everything else falls short whether it be music, sound effects, or graphics. It all just needs some polish to it (and for music needs any at all). Has potential, but right now it's just boring to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Def a good game, will be playing it a lot. good job guys! heres a quick vid i made to show it off a bit! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAtC_x2nkGQ&t=15s
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an abandoned early access 3D rendered 2D top down brawler with lightweight RPG elements. Your character can morph between different creature types to help you fight waves of samey dungeon enemies. The game hasn't been updated since 2018 (according to SteamDB), it fails to launch, instead showing an error after the splashscreen. The developers are aware of the numerous problems but the last notable update was an admission that they have a "small team" and they are working on other…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's start off with the obvious here: This game is still in Early Access and will be prone to bugs, crashes, etc. I played for a good hour before I went to bed and didn't have any issues. I got home from work and crashed randomly on the dungeon map, skill window, and in the dungeon multiple times before I gave up for the time being after completing one level (took 4 tries due to constant crashing). Overall the game is fun if you're looking for a mindless hack and slash. If you can buy it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From the videos, I expected a dungeon crawler hack and slash game which is what i got. The only thing that I wasnt expecting was the trend that started with Clash Royale. You have your three heroes, which you can morph between. Each having their own abilities but share the same loadout. Your loadout skills are earned through missions, and come in the form of "Cards". You need 5 cards to level up that skill, or hero plus a fee of in game currency. I honestly couldve gone without the loadout…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's actually just fine but not fun. Abandoned for years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: -Interesting character swap mechanic. -Enemy telegraphing is pretty good. Cons: -Combat is designed so you will have to take damage. (can't start attack preemptively) -Map design needs work. Way too much health pickups. -No ambient sounds, no music in most of the game. -No voice acting. (seems like this needs voice acting) -Map select screen reminds me of mobile game. ...wait is this designed for mobile. seems like this is designed for mobile...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game with clunky controls, made in Unity engine with heavy utilization of Action RPG asset. check this tutorial for Unity asset and compare it to game - same jugs, same floor pattern, same "platforming" environment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkANs4QdqRM but visuals is not the worst thing here. Action RPG have to be great when it comes to controls, and this game obviously fails to deliver, you can't issue attacks like you would normally do in other games, you have to run to your target and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very polished for early access. The price point is perfect.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For early access, this game is very stable, has a lot of content, and is very fun. It reminds me of a mix of Diablo III, Gauntlet, with splash of something unique in the hero system. The game is fair in the challenges and fun finding new combos as try to solve the dungeon maps. My only issue is no controller support (as of this review). This game even fun to just watch others play. I hope they keep adding more content to this game such as random dungeon seeds or longer dungeon rooms (maybe a…

Ended the game with a big Spectral -> Restless -> Tunic Metamorph, forcing blocks. Shout-out to Sink Below for sinking two chi's to save the Miragai ❤️
neutral · AI labelView post →Metamorph is a very interesting game inspired by Franz Kafka, created by Jackdaw Games. kohi-break.moe/metamorph-re... and here are my thoughts on it. #GameReview #IndieGames #Indie #Horror
positive · AI labelView post →Let me clarify something: As it is, I don't recommend it. But its possible that it could be good in future. The combat is fun enough, the idea of swapping between characters on the fly is neat, and its not an unoriginal idea to have 'bunny knight fighting the undead' and all... ... but the game as it is now is pretty dull. Its just endless punch-ups in rooms, the levels have no music so thats kinda bleh, and it really doesn't feel fun yet. Now, this IS Early Access so a bit down the line, a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got to try this out at EGX Rezzed & really enjoyed it from the moment I picked it up. The instant character swap between different ones lets you play the game however you want, some more optimal than others. The large amount of enemies allow you try out different moves and to mess about with, which makes it really satisfying. I would like to see a couple of things to make it a bit clearer in places, such as a small mini map to display where the walls, pick-ups & exits are to each room when you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very Bloody Good. Thouroghly enjoying this... The Genius is in the simplicity, and difficulty... Its not too hard but you will fing your self having to retry some levels obsessively and then you change your load out and it is simple as pie!!! finding strategies you like to destroy the enemy is the fun part luring them all in to a corner and setting of a bomb is intensly satisfying or leading a gaggle of skeletons into the path of a flying saw blade. Fantastic. If you want a respite from life…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reviewer note: was part of the beta testing program Metamorph will remind you of a Gauntlet style hack n' slash...but with the ability to switch between characters mid dungeon. You will need to perform these morphs to have success against the different types of skeletons/monsters/raps that you will encounter throughout the dungeons. For an Early Access game in its first days on the market, it is quite stable. People new to this style of game will be able to learn as they go. I would say the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some cards that made it into this iteration of the 99: Clone/copy effects for spells and permanents: Gandalf, Metamorph, Clever Impersonator, Mirari, etc. Game warping spells: Majestic Genesis, Blatant Thievery, Clone Legion, Boundless Realms, Reshape the Earth, Bringer of Tomorrows.
neutral · AI labelView post →Game is most definitely fun, but more like a "very advance project" than an actual game. Unfinished, buggy. Very clearly way underway in development but basically an abandonware. Concept and gameplay are most definitely enjoyable for the first few levels and further ones do keep adding some spice. Hard for me to recommend, but might be worth a try at least.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full controller support? I DON'T THINK SO, absolute lies, in fact plugging in a controller brings up an error on the screen, whats even worse is that this game has been having this problem for months and nobody has bothered to solve it even though they know the exact cause of the error. I would play this if it had controller support, but seen as it doesn't, i'm not going to bother.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it via the Yogscast Jingle Jam Humble Bundle... quite a bit of time for a game to be in Early Access and be this... nothing? Did I miss some kind of intro story? Why are the controls so clunky? Where's the incentive to play? I got nothing from 5mins of playtime, and that's saying something. This seriously costs 10 euros normally?!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm designing a prose #RPG setting called #metamorph in which all of the player characters are transformed or conglomerated mutant humans. You hunt other monsters, but the goal is to subdue and stabilize them, so they can become people like you (but like you, still monsters). Anybody on my Discord can play, and everybody who backs my Patreon for any amount gets into my Discord. http://patreon.com/inurashii
neutral · AI labelView post →I think the game would be totally okay for 10€. I love the idea of the game but theres one big reason why I cant recommend this game. I totally dislike that you move against creatures to attack them instead of controlling the attacking by yourself. It totally takes the dynamic part of such games out of the fight. I think this would be okay for mobile games but on PC it takes a lot of the fun out of the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After play a bit a PcGamer weekend i pick this game up. After getting used to the controls im really enjoying it and im looking forword to that els they will add.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game. Tight controls. Quick to learn, surprisingly deep combat once you scratch the surface of the game. Definitely recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At a high level... the biggest changes are that alt quality gems and lab enchants no longer exist... and as a result every skill gem in the game got touched... some of them drastically and several no longer work the way they did. Metamorph is being removed and Ultimatum is replacing it.
neutral · AI labelView post →I really like this, hope it's still being worked on. watch out, could use some more polish tho.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full controller support is a lie you even get errors when you plug in controllers and devs aren't interested in fixing it but this feels like a mobile game so I wouldn't recommend it anyway
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorry chief, but this ain't it. First and foremost, the game is unpolished as hell. The game seems to crash on a whim, the hero switching is sporadic on the keyboard and isn't even bindable on controller (making the game unplayable with a controller) but the only means of movement in the game otherwise is clicking with the mouse which makes it impossible to dodge traps later into the game. The story is incredibly vague and contrived and comes across as if it was roughly translated into…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Timed dungeon crawling game. Beat the level within a certain time, rescue goblins, and grab coins to upgrade your characters and skills. Still in early access so it needs a bit of polishing. Steam achievements don't work and camera angle needs work as well. You'll try to hit a breakable item on the edges and you won't be able to because it'll be obscured by a ridge or something, which eats up your level time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do not under any circumstance get this game. it is broke. it just does not work. i got it through jingle jam and even then i feel like i was ripped off. the game does not start. supposedly the reason is because there is an error when you have a controller plugged in, but get this, i don't even own a controller. the devs seem to be aware of this issue to as there are posts from over a year ago on the discussions with people complaining about this exact thing. they just aren't interested in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ugly graphics and overly simplistic gameplay. Gave up on it extremely quickly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far more fun gameplay than Gauntlet (similar base gameplay) and that is even without the transforming characters bit. Artwork of characters and enemies is ace. Well designed levels with various traps (loads of fun devising ways of luring the enemies into the traps, while avoiding ending up in them yourself) and enemies. Great personalities to the characters, animations and sound. Loads of replayability using upgraded various attacks to try new tactics to clear levels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Attention grabbing from the very beginning. Metamorph has well-designed attacks and moves, a satisfying, "dare you to grind just a little more" progression system, and cool characters. New dungeons gradually shake up the formula, fortifying gameplay with unexpected challenges, multiple completion routes, and at last, at LONG last, the chance to allow enemies to be massacred by their own traps! Take that suckers. Battle sound effects are absolutely on point, although louder background ambience…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used Phyrexian Metamorph to copy my Aetherflux Reservoir in our currently running Magic game so when Rach has the option to hit someone with 7 damage I see all the pointers circling my board. :p
neutral · AI labelView post →R3: WW vs. CommanderDuke (forgot their name tag name): My deck did very well here, with strong Ivora curves and game 2 Metamorph justified its inclusion by copying my Glorybringer for lethal, killing their Six. 1-1-1 wasn't the worst start. I didn't look at the cube enough tbh.
neutral · AI labelView post →this game is quite bad but i wanted to play through every level available. unfortunately for me i played some of it, then got distracted by other (much better) games, so when I came back to this months later and didnt remember how to play it at all, i quickly discovered there's no new game option. why. morph my nuts to survive bro
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disgraceful. Should be taken off the steam store. " Note: The last update made by the developers was over 7 years ago. The information and timeline described by the developers here may no longer be up to date. " I think i got this game from a humble bundle because there's no way I'd pay for consumer hostile BS like this. DO! NOT! BUY! An incredibly underwhelming ARPG with a one note transformation mechanic.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my Game Of The Year. It f*cks so hard. Where Metamorph and Pyscholog are games that just hit -me- right, where only other sickos will get it, Gutter World is incredibly fun to play and figure out and if you think you'd enjoy the challenge it's presenting, you will.
