Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 248 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (824 of 1,302 positive).
Many note that the launch was problematic but updates have improved the experience. [1][2][3] Some reviewers still report input lag and a lack of online features. [4][5][6]

Horrible collection with tons of bugs, no effort and AI slop. Only worth it for the documentary and few sprites. I hope Digital Eclipse never touches MK ever again, a literal spit on the face to any sane MK fan that isn't just mindless sheep who consume, consume and consume more. Proof of AI usage: /a/T65DA5f (imgur) Expanding on the review: This game does very little for preservation as assets are poorly upscaled, …

As a longtime Mortal Kombat fan, I was really excited for this collection. I grew up playing the Arcade Kollection on Xbox 360 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PS1. Seeing Trilogy included with online play felt like a dream come true. Unfortunately, both the offline and online experience ruin it. There is noticeable input lag even when playing offline and it becomes even worse online. This makes the games frustrating …

Offline review: For middle-aged gamers like me, who grew up with MK, this collection is perfection. Not only does it have great ports of the games themselves, but the quality-of-life features are very helpful. Training modes, fixed ai difficulty, save states, on screen move lists all help with improving your skills and overall enjoyment. The towers are much more enjoyable now that fixed ai difficulty has lessened …

This game collection will likely always be plagued by its original lackluster and problematic launch. However, the games have been fully cleaned up and the input lag issues are fully resolved. We are now left with an amazing collection of classic games from across multiple systems and decades, hours of behind the scenes content, and countless hours of re-playable, genuinely amazing games. 9/10

I've been playing this a lot lately, so much more than I expected! I'm really, really happy with with my purchase. I understand this collection didn't exactly launch in the best state, but I truly don't feel the "Mixed" rating reflects the current state of this collection after updates. This is a great way to experience these classics titles! Included are many Mortal Kombat games; primarily the original arcade …

58% of the 248 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. The complaint that keeps coming up: input lag persists in some games. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. The game received criticism at launch with players reporting issues relating to input lag, audio distortions, and incomplete or missing features, leading to a "Mixed" rating on Steam. On November 4, 2025, it was reported that players were offered refunds on the PlayStation Store. On the same day, developer Digital Eclipse released a patch that attempted to address the issues. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection was nominated for "Best Fighting Game" at The Game Awards 2025, and won "Fighting Game of the Year" at the 29th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

We had the privilege of his portrayal on the first MK film but also as an amazing voice actor in the Mortal Kombat 11 game. (1 of 2) youtu.be/Dq4TZPg3kOs

neutral · AI labelView post →As someone deeply familiar with Digital Eclipse games (the developer behind this collection), I feel more than obligated to write a review of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Anyone who witnessed the release of this compilation could see the chaotic state in which it was launched. What few people know is that Digital Eclipse has a long history of releasing broken compilations. The problem is that, unlike other compilations, this one was with a very famous IP (intellectual property). If it…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Input lag is unacceptably high in every game—even offline—defeating the purpose of a fighting game collection. There’s no reason to buy this if you want a responsive gameplay experience. Instead, use free, open-source emulators from the community; they deliver far better performance with minimal input lag.

neutral · AI labelView post →As much as I love the early Mortal Kombat games, I can't recommend this game yet. It's an impressive kollection of fan favourites from Mortal Kombat 1 to 4 in different versions. Mega Drive, PS1, SNES, 32x, and of course, the arcades. In the Krypt menu... There's a great selection of documentaries over the years of how each game came to be, everything they've shown over the years of behind the scenes stuff is all here. There's a menu that tells you about each and every single character that's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I begged for this Kollektion to happen so hard for at least a decade and now where it is here... it has been created by a bunch of people that seemingly have no love, passion or even interest in the franchise. It's just so extremely soulless. While I understand that some editions (Especially N64, Saturn, Dreamcast, Atari) are missing and some ports like MK4 PS1 too. I have no understanding why you'd exclude even inhouse game of MK4 for the GBC. Yes it was one of the worst games ever created…

positive · AI labelView post →This is an embarrassment. I grew up playing MK in 1991 going to arcades and XBAND playing online across the USA. I made so many great memories and friends that have lasted 30+ years. This is NOT a KOLLECTION. This is a Komplete FAILURE. I cannot play my friends.. there are also no lobbies, no ranked and no real options. The OFFLINE has many problems also. Audio issues, graphic issues that destroy the immersion. Issues even in the BIO and Documentary. This is an unfinished product and…

neutral · AI labelView post →Poorly optimized, poorly ported. Input delay in nearly every game, no meaningful tutorials for how to play titles like the GBA version of MKDA. Truly not worth the $49 I spent on it. Wait for this to go on sale and even then the nostalgia will wear off quickly, like mine did.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The collection is not quite what was advertised. We don't need 5 ports of the same game in one collection. We also don't need the GameBoy ports. No Deadly Alliance, Deception or Shaolin Monks? Not worth the price of admission when emulators exist. Refunding.

neutral · AI labelView post →Believe all the comments and reviews. I was so eager for this and purchased it pre-release, but the issues currently plaguing it is unacceptable for 30 year old games/ROMs. Maybe if they patch it up half a year from now, and it goes on sale, I can recommend this. But in it's current state, buyer beware. Even the online isn't/wasn't working, one of the most anticipated features. The documentary is nice, but it doesn't save what is currently a subpar product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refunded. At full price, this game is simply not worth it. Wait that it goes on sale or just don't buy it until then. If your goal is to play offline, it can be fine: the classic content is there and it works as expected. However, the online experience is a complete disaster. There is too much input lag, which makes online matches frustrating and unreliable. On top of that, there is no crossplay, which is unacceptable in modern online gaming and is one of the main reasons the player base is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: While this kollection is obviously crafted with a love of the franchise, it's under cooked at launch. Glaring issues from missing private invites/lobbies, to minor ones like Sub Zero (II)'s MK2 first ending panel being lower resolution than the second or the bio in the krypt character viewer... The loading delays weren't COMPLETELY removed from Trilogy as was stated to be the case... It's death by a thousand cuts. At an MSRP of $50 there is no reason to not deliver on the modest…

neutral · AI labelView post →Not Recommended I really wanted to love the Mortal Kombat Kollection, but this release feels like a rushed nostalgia cash-grab rather than a respectful preservation of classics. The biggest issue is performance. Even on a solid PC, the game suffers from inconsistent frame pacing, audio desync, and random stutters—especially during transitions and fatalities. These are 30-year-old titles; they shouldn’t run worse now than they did on original hardware. Controls are another major problem.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot recommend this collection in good faith at the moment at it's current price. HOWEVER, I do like aspects of it, and dislike other aspects, so let me break this down. PROS: -From my experience, the emulation felt stable, and the inputs were responsive, I was able to get my combos out consistently like how I can on actual hardware, so that's not too bad. -Most versions of the games are available, and have neat QOLs like the Genesis version of MK 1992 having the Blood Code on by default,…

I mean, if youre someone driven by nostalgia that just wants to play some old аss Mortal Kombat games, then maybe you might enjoy it, cuz the games are playable, despite of the bugs, of course. There a Libretro core in the main folder. You can do that and all but $50. for that. Yeah there's some nice quality of life options and such but it's simply roms from piracy sites in a free emulator. The 32X game is missing most of the audio. I know you use emulators and that's fine but what's with the price?!
