Murder
Developer Peter Moorhead
From the designer and artists behind "Stranded" comes a short story about the intersection of morality and sentience, in a cyberpunk future where both have become commodities. From the Steam store page

What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 198 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (224 of 435 positive).
Players praise the pixel art and sound design but find the game extremely short. [1][2][3] Many reviewers note the story feels incomplete or cliché, lacking depth. [4][5][6] Some consider it a paid demo or not worth the price despite low cost. [4][7][8]

As others have said, I am not certain this title is worth it even if its on sale. For the baseline price, you're paying >10 cents a minute for a pretty bland and unrewarding experience with no replay value. Murder has some interesting components, but they are not combined in a way that makes use of an interactive medium in a way which is at all compelling. Gorgeous Pixel Art but only about 7 screens of it. That's …

You play as Lieutenant Motomeru Minori living in Tokyo who dreams of her death in the hands of a robot. It so happens a human was killed in the same area and it spirals from there. Is it fine killing robots or not? Is robots so sentient that they should have the same rights as humans? Should people leave robots stranded as they break down waiting for their owner? Sadly, Murder barely looks into this. Sure robot …

The reason I like this game is the beautiful pixelart and smooth animations. Really well done. The story is Ok, but nothing groundbreaking. It's full of visual references to GitS and Bladerunner. Sadly the game is VERY short, about half an hour. The voice acting is good, so is the music, but what really got me was the pixelart. Get if you are in for a short story told with big pixels. I appreciate this being …

"No matter the apparent outcome, the creator always wins." Great sound design, beautifully rendered pixel art but a heavily lacking story. It tires to be deep but fails. Voice acting was decent but somewhat useless for a demo. A paid demo. It's not even a short story. 15 minute tutorial + 15 minute point and click = 30 minute experience. I don't think the word "Murder" or it's edgy counterpart "satsugai" in Japanese …

I really wish this had been a full length game. I paid less than a buck for it so i can't complain too much. I loved the art, loved the scene compositions, I liked the music and I enjoyed the subject matter. Is this a demo for a full length game? I would definitely buy a full length game of this.

positive · AI labelView post →Tentatively recommending this game for fans of cyberpunk and pixel graphics. Played on ubuntu 16.04 with intel drivers, and I had mostly no issues, except alt-tab in fullscreen caused a freeze. Things you should know: (i) this is a linear story with no puzzle nor inventory (ii) this is very, very short, but not as short as it appears (iii) there are reviewers angry with the developer Great music, great voice narration, great graphical effects, and an interesting story idea, but big points…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In October 2015 the Steam refund policy was announced. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, the purchase was made within 14 days and the in-game time is less than 2 hours, then you can request your money back. "Murder" was released right after that announcement, and with only around 10 minutes of gameplay walking, the "developer" was out of business. Anyways, for me, the cool pixel art and soundtrack is worth the purchase. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2887032052…

neutral · AI labelView post →Thsi is a wonderful looking game with some fantastic art direction and animation, backed up by a soundtrack that will certainly evoke that feeling of classic Cyberpunk. The main problem is that it's too damn short, even if it is a short story. My first playthrough was offline, so Steam didn't factor in that time, but my 0.1hrs playtime was basically how long it took to see it through a second playthrough. Just as I was getting into this, it just ended. I'd recommend watching a play through or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extra-short, not sure it's even wort the price while on sale (because this is supposed to be a game, not just visual art). Obviously that's not the only reason why I don't think the game is not worth it: + Good pixelart + Nice sound design for the most part + Good OST, although... - The menu track was extra loud, and... Rap? wat. Who thought this was a good idea seriously. + Voice acting is good, even though... - The writting is bad. - The plot is bad. Well, there's no plot really. Not one…

positive · AI labelView post →I normally disagree with reviews which say a game is too short, as I like short stories and I believe in quality over quanity. But in this case you have a narrative based game about 15 minutes long, essentially on rails, which rushes to put so much in that it lacks the build up required for the intended dramatic punch. It leaves the impression it is only a short demo of a full game. This is a shame, because it has good production value and otherwise seems well written. I'd like to see it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Utterly useless. I love sci-fi short stories notably the ones by Isaac Azimov, but this game while borrowing wholesale the characters and universe of Ghost in the Shell, manages to have less story and ideas than a single episode of GitC: Stand Alone Complex. It's also very annoying to interact with, taking control away from the player most of the time to display a stupid waiting icon. I thought I wouldn't mind the short playtime and that the nice pixel art and music would make the experience…
