Many reviewers find the lack of puzzles and interaction frustrating, with slow movement and repetitive gameplay. [1][2][3] Some recommend it only at a steep discount for fans of atmospheric art projects. [4][5][6]

I don't get why this game got such bad reviews. This is a short, damn beautiful looking adventure. It has a gorgeous art direction with excellent pixel art. The music and sound design are also really good, and make for a really immersive and atmospheric experience, that encourages you to explore this alien world. It has a really good, slow pace that sinks you little by little in its world and delivers a memorable …

The one sentence description of the game by the dev is accurate. Minimal and short but I did find it memorable with some good music to liven up the slow gait of your astronaut avatar. At a steep discount I recommend it to adventure and pixel art enthusiasts that don't mind the brevity or the abstract nature of the storytelling... which is just fine by me.

Even if it's on sale: just say no. I think we all need to stop buying anything Peter Moorhead puts out, because we're funding the production of nonsense. If you want to build a minimalist title to make me think about something, everything had better be pretty polished so that I can focus on what you're trying to get me to think about. I got this game for 1,19€ so it's okay... But the original price is nearly robbery! Don't get me wrong. What you will see and experience is beautifull. I love pixel stile and this game has wonderful maps. But only 16 of them... and you have to visit each over and over again. You can't do anything. Just walk to all maps until the ending. Yeah, the Stranded being a very ham fisted reference to Hurricane Katrina went over my head when I first played the game but that was because I was 11 in 2006.

The down votes aren't wrong. But, it reminded me of a few of my friends in elementary school...the sorta nerdy ones, that liked to draw, but didn't have the extra lunch money for brownies and snacks...every now and then, we would have an extra nickle, or dime, or if we were really high-rolling, a quarter. Anyway, us poor trailer park nerd kids never had enough for those awesome .50 cent brownies at lunch time, but discovered that if we drew a cool enough picture, someone would give us a nickle…

Not horrible, but not worth the asking price. The art style isn't too bad, if you don't mind the retro 16 bit aesthetic. The soundtrack is actually quite good, if a bit limited. The problem is that there isn't too much of a GAME here. Stranded takes about an hour to finish it (I can't really say "beat" when there are no challenges), and half that with a guide. I didn't mind the very short time I spent in this game, but it was an experience I'd expect from a (free) flash game on Newgrounds…

Hmm.. no sorry, cannot recommend this point and click game, because it is missing a number of elements. For a game where the walking speed is so slow, it would have been nice to have some hotspots. Then, not having a menu to turn down the sound meant the tiny music loop was unbearable, and I was unable to save the game. I think would have liked the concept, but I just found the interface to be unplayable. Technically, it ran fine on ubuntu linux 16.04 with intel drivers.

In my slow progression through old bundle games and SG wins, I decided to fire this one up today. Stranded actually was quite a bit better than all the neg reviews would have you believe. Is it a great game? No. In fact, I would say it is mediocre. Not bad however. It's a bit mysterious story-wise, but I assume that after being stranded on this planet, you realize your only means of survival is to transfer your consciousness to one of the robots on the planet. I understand why people aren't fans of this game. It's not clear initially what you need to do and all you seem to do is walk around triggering different events. Despite this I did feel compelled to see it through to the end to see what was going to happen. It's not a long game, you will only need about an hour to finish it so keep that in mind if purchasing at full price.

While obviously not for everyone, Stranded is a unique audio/visual experience that is extremely pleasing to the eyes and ears. The setting is incredibly mysterious, and you're thrown into an unknown world with little to no explanations. In October 2015 the Steam refund policy was announced. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, the purchase was made within 14 days and the in-game time is less than 2 hours, then you can request your money back. Walking simulator "Stranded" can be completed within one hour. The "developer" wasn't happy about that, I guess, but cool pixel art though. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2884547827 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2884547201

I usually enjoy point and click adventure games and "walking simulators." Stranded isn't good at being either of those things. The agonizingly slow movement alone kills this game more than anything else, extending what might have been a 20 or 30 minute game to roughly an hour long drag. There aren't really any puzzles either and you can't interact with that many things. It's a shame, because the art is nice and the setting has potential. There was a freeware sidescrolling game on Windows from long ago that looked like this. I think it was called Stranded or something? Basically, your spaceship crash lands on an alien forest that looks a lot like this, and you have a jetpack, a pewpew, and a grappling hook. Pretty durn complicated and I never got far, but it was a beautiful game. Edit: Capsized! From 2011. And not free. Huh. https://store.steampowered.com/app/95300/Capsized/

... A cool little game. I'd honestly say better than Murder, the other project by the same developer. Stranded is a quieter story, but it is all the better for it. The cliches and unsurprising nature of Murder were all done through dialogue. All of the pluses remain: the art style and sound design are wonderful. Every frame of the game is a work of art. There is no dialogue in Stranded; instead, you walk around and explore the environments over a few days and nights. It is slow, introspective,…

Amazingly crappy. The one huge flaw is the interface. The main character simply moves to where you click but at such frustratingly slow pace. No queues are provided for quick travel and it takes two or three clicks just to leave a scene. I don't remember how much I paid for this, but it wasn't worth it at all.

This is not a game. Nor is it one of those 'experiences' or 'interactive stories' which aren't games either but may be worth your time for about 50 cents anyway. This is literally some pixel backgrounds, some music and a character you can move by pointing and clicking the mouse, that's it. Tedious and boring. Poor controls and lack of "quality of life" features common since Sierra games of the late-80s. The "playtime" is extended by having the character walk slowly through the same screens back and forth, over and over. Dev likely did this to "build atmosphere"... it doesn't. For a free itch.io game, it would be Average. For a paid game, it's an insulting poor waste of time. Only plus I can think of: pixel art is slightly above average.

Pros: - looks cool Cons: - character stops walking randomly. It's point and click, so you have to click many times in the same spot to get where you're going. - not any discernible meaning to the story. it's just some cool alien constructs and watching some switches power up.

Sid Meier defined a game as a "series of interesting choices." This computer program delivers graphics, sounds, and interactivity, but no real choices. It's not really a game. It's probably worth the $.60 it is during a Steam sale, but not much more than that. Even with that, it's the half hour you'll spend with the game that's valuable - this probably isn't worth it.
