What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 199 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (4,514 of 5,546 positive).
Several reviewers complain about excessive microtransactions and DLC. [1][2][3] Some players enjoy the game despite its flaws. [4][5][6]

I bought this for the nostalgia of playing Mx vs Atv on the PlayStation 2. I saw all the bikes you can unlock and I had hopes of playing the game and unlocking / buying all of them with in game money. Well it's 2026 and everything has to be a microtransaction. You need to pay real money to unlock everything and it really took the wind out of my sails on this one.

I’ve seen every complaint under the sun about this game — “the physics are bad,” “the AI is broken,” “the sound is awful,” “too much DLC.” After a few dozen hours, I can tell you most of those reviews are nonsense written by people who either didn’t finish the tutorial or wanted a PlayStation 2 nostalgia trip instead of an actual motocross game in 2025. 1. Physics — They Don’t Suck, You Just Have to Learn Them This …

game is exactly what you'd expect but with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ micro transactions I still like the game but its a shame half the content is behind a paywall which i will never support.

I was playing All Out on xbox and trying to wait for this to go on sale, but I bought it anyways at full price and glad that I did. I got 40 hours in just over a week so far and I haven't played anything else since installing. Getting better at the tracks and have installed most DLC's. The SX World Tour and the Daytona tracks are my favorites, I just beat the AI on Legends difficulty last night. The graphics are …

Clean game, and as someone who drives bikes I really enjoy it. Also makes you miss the old ps2 games would recommend =)

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MICRO TRANSACTIONS !!!!!! ruins the game so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAY. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just charge us the price you want and give us all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ content. instead of pissing everyone off. the bike is good but would like more FOV. the quad and buggy are ♥♥♥♥ wait for a 75% off or more to make the worth while thumbs down because of the MICRO TRANSACTIONS!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disappointing. This is not the game you remember as a kid where all the time went into doing tricks out in the open world and then racing was a thing you could do on the side. Now it's all about doing races in these small little venues. It's sooooo boring. Bring back the giant open world! Bring back the big mountain that launches you back when you go to far!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get me wrong it's a good game but it's also $40 with $500 worth of DLC which I don't mind DLC but the amount of DLC which there's so much content locked behind DLC, maps, vehicles, etc and I have too many games with content locked behind DLC so I'm not adding another this is more of a personal thing this might change it might not but the total DLC price is the most absurd out of all games I own with crap tons of DLC
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 103 years old now, and people often ask me what keeps my mind active and my heart young. The answer surprises them sometimes: video games. Every evening, when the house grows quiet and the world outside slows down, I sit in my old chair, turn on my console, and begin to play. The moment the engine sound starts in a motorcycle game, something inside me wakes up. Suddenly, I am no longer an old man with silver hair and tired hands. I am a boy again. I grew up in a small countryside town…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The engine sounds are literally just random 'braap' noises. Your bike sounds like it’s constantly shifting up and down when you cruise around at a constant RPM in the same gear. And when you hit the rev limiter, the engine sound just cuts out completely. This is so absurd for a game released after 1990, yet there it is. What makes it even more absurd is that the rest of the game is just fine. I only keep playing it because my 4-year-old son likes it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is fun, making all name brand bikes/ATVs DLCs is money hungry
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most of the game is locked behind upwards of 30 DLC's. Wanna ride a pit bike pay. Wanna ride a track pay. Want to get a cool helmet pay. I already paid for the game. I should at least get supercross seasons for free.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst buy ever don't buy this game except if you going deluxe bundle the base game has no official licensed bike manufacturers, complete crap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone that grew up on MX vs ATV I can not recommend this game to anyone at full price, on sale sure!! Feels too arcade like compared to older MX vs ATV Games.. Each to their own, just not what MX vs ATV feels like to me..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Handling is awful even with assists turned off. Also, the music is ♥♥♥♥. 90% of the game is behind a paywall. Forced tutorials and some of the free content are also locked behind a grind.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got the game on sale at 10$ That being said I think the game is worth what I paid. Theres a lot of content and fun once you learn the physics and flow. But there is also ALOT wrong with this game. The AI are broken. They either try to kill you off the rip or they crash on the first tight corner. The difficulty setting doesn't do anything. I noticed 0 difference between the easiest difficulty and the hardest one UTVs are useless. The handling model is terrible, to the point where…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is literally just a cash grab. Maps that are free are SUPER REPITITVE And all the FREE stuff that you can buy is only just cosmetic's. so basically Avoid this game, it's fun if you like to race at wherever for 3 laps then do it again but on a 250, then again on a 450. Seriously though, don't buy. I will say though, it's pretty fun besides everything I just pointed out, if your new to mx vs atv I'd find a different game not this game, wayy to many dlcs instead of content for free, you've…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →***UPDATED WITH MORE VIDEOS*** I've been playing these games since the early 2000's. (20+ years). I've gotta say, It looks nice, but there are things that I exepcted that are not there. The terrain deformation is almost non existent. GNCC style tracks, none either... to me it feels like it gives less content than reflex, and they rely on people buying DLC. It also feels like an arcade game, all the vehicles go so fast... No thanks.. I asked for a refund. THIS IS WHAT I WANT IN A GAME LIKE…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has to be the worst feeling dirtbike game of all time. It's so inconsitent with when it gets traction and how it does preload. It's like russian roulette whether you're going 120 mph or 10 mph going up the jump. Game is absolute trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is exactly what you'd expect but with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ micro transactions I still like the game but its a shame half the content is behind a paywall which i will never support.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the best MX game out there so far. Realism, good tracks, realistic mechanics, replayability, real bikes, etc. This game is the best of the best. I would love to see this game come to VR. Lets see that 2027 KX327 2 Stroke come to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth the 50gb+ of space. Not worth no $40 either. $10 is somewhat fair. There's an extra $100~ of dlc for this game that was released 4 years ago.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MXvsATV makes it sound like there is a chance that ATVs are even remotely good in this game. The closest thing there is to ATV Off road fury titles and its garbage.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent hundreds of hours playing the old ATV Offroad Fury games and MX vs ATV Unleashed. I got a little nostalgic lately and found this on sale for $10. I mainly wanted to kill some time messing around with different bikes in free roam and having some fun. Free roam is ok but I figured I'd grind some to get some different bikes and that takes a while to move up to even the 250 4 stroke. If you want anything other than made up generic bikes its at a minimum of $5 per DLC pack. Gameplay in this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game with the money i was allowed to spend, and it was so worth it! ive started buying dlcs and i cant stop... i think i have an addiction.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The preloading and trick mechanics are overly complicated for no reason, was way better back in mx vs atv off-road days. the physics aren't realistic at all. all the reviews saying this game is "so realistic" are lies. for best results playing this game follow these simple steps. bought the game installed game played 1 hour uninstalled game requested refund save yourself the hassle and dont even bother getting it. its trash
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've enjoyed the MX part thoroughly, and the freerides are fun for my kids. The computer bot racers don't necessarily correspond to the difficulty setting well. On the easiest, most races are definitely easier, except ATV on easy still feels very hard. The bot riders also seem to defy normal gameplay physics as they can always jump higher and farther than I can, no matter the preloading and clutch boosts used.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game. New physics model is much better than before after the updates. Been playing mx vs atv for a long time and this is one of the best ones so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game because dirt bikes are what's up and I highly recommend the game if you also like dirt bikes! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i like it, you get a decent amount of content in base game and the gameplay is super fun. DLC prices are absolutely absurd though and really not worth the money for the tiny fragments of content you get per pack
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVED the godly graphics, the realism, all the diffrent quests and the costommisablity of it I disliked nothing about it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The other one is kind of sweet. A bloke emailed me about my MX Vs ATV Legends review. That game was a SHITSHOW on launch. Buggy and broken as hell. He wrote to me 12 months later to ask me to re-review it because it had been fixed and he was having a wonderful time playing it with his son.
negative · AI labelView post →Two of my favourite games when I was younger were Motocross Madness 1 & 2. I was informed recently that this series is actually the true successor to those games. While that seems to be true, this game is nowhere near as fun. This review should serve as a warning to anybody who is told something similar. If you play the game seriously you have to engage with a slow, arduous career mode and unclear driving mechanics. Theres decent enough bike physics, but anything meaningful seems to work via…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really solid MX game. I really do enjoy it. And thats coming from someone who put 2k hours into MX Bikes. Only request I have is they add Crossplay. A lot of my friends are on console, and its a big reason I dont have as many hours on PC. But id rather play on PC. Online Multiplayer matches are hard to find on PC. Please add crossplay Devs. Thanks
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Shift sounds can still trigger at the incorrect revs. More improvements planned." It's been FOUR YEARS since release! Maybe fix the BASE GAME before releasing PAID DLC and your pissed off fanbase (or what's left) might want to support you again by purchasing DLC and future titles from your studio. As it currently stands, you've essentially told your most loyal fans that you don't care the game is messed up for them, and you're just going to keep working on DLC to pad your pockets. Four…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Implement more enduro /hard enduro pls ( freeroam enduro areas and longer enduro races through forests and such would be banging)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was aight, very greedy though. Now with this new update then screen just goes white when I pull the game open. I literally can not play the game...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just do not understand how people can stomach this game. The bike handling handling is clunky, slow, and nonsensical. I cannot comprehend how the bike feel and control has regressed so substantially since the release of Reflex in 2009.

Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really fun and realistic dirtbike game lots of maps and bikes to choose from and they actually have utvs and atvs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So this game looks really cool, and had so much potential but instead fell flat on its face. The graphics are pretty good and the game itself does run smoothly, but that's not the problem. The AI riders literally have their own path they're programmed to take and oh well if you're the slightest bit in front of them cause they'll drive right into you like you were never there. When it comes to jumping, preloading and trying to use the clutch to hit triples, why cant the bikes ever complete it?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started the game and went straight into multiplayer, skipped story mode first ,learned how to ride a bit and dominated the story mode, of course at a good difficulty, game is fun but a lot of paywalls , name brand bikes cant be bought in game , they are treated like a dlc, like the regular yamaha honda susuki ktm or gasgas.Aside from that, LOTS to do from trails to supercross and its dope me and my nephew pulled an all nighter once we bought and i can see us pulling more racing love the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great graphics and amazing for mx lovers!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun amount of content that can keep you entertained for quite a while actually. physics are fun but some details could had been better. opponent AI though is absolute garbage. once they get in contact with you, they go into a course correction motion that ends them up pushing themselves and you with them off the track (like literally ALWAYS) ending up to some really nerve wrecking moments. it is however a very beautifully designed game which nevertheless can offer quite a few ours of fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy on deep sale. Game is basically pay to play which is incredibly lame. I just wanted to play licensed tracks mainly. Physics are decent enough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →get bike-ride bike-crash bike-trys quad0 also crash's very fun game 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun, only down side you feel like really floaty when playing unlike mx bikes youu have to try so hard to do like a front flip but legends it is very easy but other than that it is and amazing game for me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is perfect for people that love motocross it has all brands all tracks and all styles like supercross enduro and natoinal
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the few games that I come back to again and again. This game is always fun when there are no others that seem fun. Its graphics are great, the maps are fun, but the only bad thing is the map borders.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very interesting. I have played for a little bit now, just getting the hang of controls and doing some MX races but I must say I found there is a very steep learning curve, atleast for me. The manual mode is hit and miss with it most of the time acting like automatic and shifting on its own (i dont know if its a bug or other people experience this), and the AI in races will do everything in their power to take you out (even on easy mode). HOWEVER, this GAME is GOOD. You just need…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, since I kinda like zooming around on an MX bike (though I don't own one) and I'm not bound by nostalgia for the series (since some people tend to be biased towards older titles no matter the game series), all while being able to spend half a lifetime customizing every lug nut on a vehicle (if possible), getting MX vs ATV Legends was a no brainer. The game overall is pretty nice and challenging, especially on Legends difficulty (grandma didn't raise no quitter, after all), got lots of bikes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One big paywall DLC fest :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is largely fragmented as paid DLC. Unfortunate
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ game too many controls I can't play my hands......
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels pretty realistic. Nice progression system and i really like the bike customization options. Really fun to play with friends, (if you have any). Gets pretty laggy if you dont have decent internet. I do wish that it could be modded. A lot of the maps are dlc's though. Overall i would give it a 9 out of 10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst racing game of all time, the concept of the clutch boost is laughable and feels so bad. i will explain: in this game your top speed is not consistent, and not simply achieved by throttle input over a period of time. your top speed on every straight is determined by if you came out of the last turn with a clutch boost. so you can exit a turn without any clutch work, pin the throttle for the longest straight ever, just holding it wide open, and never achieve top speed because the physics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have the ultimate edition and I think that this doesn't have enough content to justify the price point. And you are kind of forced to buy the ultimate edition if you want to have any tracks or bikes because the base game doesn't have any content. If developers would drop the price of the ultimate edition then it would be worth buying. Gameplay in itself is solid but, there just isn't enough content.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing and runs like a dream on Steam Deck. At last I've found a motocross game that is loads of fun even for a beginner/casual player. This is the best motocross game out there, bar none. The Novice/easy level IS easy and it's so fun to be able to add up a couple of wins quick, and be able to upgrade your bike and just enjoy the riding. It works perfectly to drive even in cockpit view. I don't care about the DLC:s they are there if you want them, but the game have loads and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game PUB lobbys are full of sweats who think they are hayden deegan though so watch out for that!! overall great game tho great physics!! dirtbike sounds are awful though
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish "maybe" was an option, as "mixed" is really the summary of my review. tl;dr: it's a solid "simcade" dirt bike game. Easy to learn, tough to master. Nice variety of tracks and bikes, but it's very expensive. Only pick it up on sale. I picked the game up because I wanted a dirt bike game that my son and I could play together. This is one of the few options that supported split screen on PC. Overall, it's a solid game and from reading comments and previous reviews, it's clear…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good game with lots of content and variety. Two years after release the game is patched, improved, and had lots of tweaks to make Legends a very very underrated & overlooked MX vs ATV game. I've bought the game and DLCs on sale so it's hard to say what a good price to value is for others. I have very little previous experience playing motocross games and it was always at a casual level where i never utilized advanced mechanics or tried for great laps. When I started playing Legends I…
