A good game, but sadly abandoned by the devs. Had a lot of potential
- [14]
Abandoned, empty shell of a game. Do not buy this game, the developers do not deserve your money for completely neglecting their roadmap and community and instead letting this game with AMAZING potential stay dead in the water.

Just beat the game with one of my friends as a duo, took 8 hours, It is 3am, and I've never had a better gaming experience, The last 8 hours was easily better than any woman I've been with, it saddens me there's not more content... If anyone sees this and wants someone to help them complete the game, Let me know, and we'll play, No matter how long this is up feel free to contact me for a game of Necropolis! (If …

I really don't know why this game has such low reviews for the content that it offers. The weapons are nice to use, the multiplayer is stable, and the codex system is quite engaging as it offers meaningful changes to the moment to moment gameplay. The crafting for one, although not too complex, is more thought out than most other games I've played. Yes, this game is worth its ticket price in my opinion, and is a fun …

Still one of the best dungeon generators; Every playthrough is very unique; Very high replay value even after 10 years with no updates.

Critics, per Wikipedia
Necropolis received "mixed or average" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Destructoid took issue with the game's unengaging structure, crafting, and lack of content while finding the combat and multiplayer fun. GameRevolution praised the aesthetics and criticized the unresponsive, repetitive, unengaging gameplay, and poor fusion of genres. Eurogamer, by contrast, recommended the game, citing its lore, codexes, combat, and multiplayer as positives. IGN noted that the game was best enjoyed with friends and that the roguelike structure and Soulslike combat were conflicting ideas that made the experience dull despite everything else the game did right. PC Gamer gave the game 68…

60 of 268 · most liked firstI finished my first mini for Necropolis, a really cool indie skirmish game. I had a lot of fun playing with texture and lighting on this guy. The main mini and the crow are official STLs from the game that you can get on their Patreon.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thank you to everyone who has reached out. I'm feeling... less fine today than I had hoped. No stream from me today - I don't think y'all wanna hear me sniffling anyway. 😅 You should catch me at the Necropolis tomorrow for tabletop gaming, and Wednesday for [insert game here]. Love you dumplings.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still working my way through #DragonAgeVeilguard its a big game! I alternate with playing the SIMS but don't have any images to share this morning for that game. The Veilguard meeting, the garden in the Necropolis, big Rook, and Assan is everything!
neutral · AI labelView post →A great potential that was never realized. I always feel a bit sad about it whenever I see it's name pop up in my library.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →today was the Game Market! so crazy busy the whole time, didn’t really take many photos that i didn’t already post. but here’s a cool poster for the japanese edition of London Necropolis Railway, my personal haul, and the games i’m bringing back to sell through New Mill!
neutral · AI labelView post →There was really no reason to leave this game, it sold well enough, it would of sold more if you put more work into an expansion...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had potential, but its been abandoned and there are just better games that do this style of game better, this game is worth about 5$ and being sold for 30$ It feels unfinished there are only 2 characters and there are just better Rougelikes that feel finished
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I fail to comprehend how this game was abandoned (since 2016). It has all the hallmarks and design choices to be magnificent. There's a LOT of things that need rework, but the barebone experience is there, from a functioning coop system (wich i highly recommend), a basic loot system, interesting enemies and even things to discover, so i completely fail to understand why the developers didn't continue with it. If the developers still had hand in it and updated it, it would definitly be a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. Its fantastic. Don't buy it. Necropolis is a dead game with no updates for years. They had a roadmap, a great community, huge success on youtube, and then they started a new game. People loved this game so much that they wanted to keep working on it and coding it! So some coders looked at the code, and deemed that they would have to fully recreate the game, which would take far too much time and money. Man is this game fun. It's the hardest dungeon crawler I've played. It's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Owlshield, who animates the excellent NECROPOLIS game/community has gone bonkers with our Toppled Tower piece! No need to buy three but yer can if you like! Link in bio...
neutral · AI labelView post →"So? What do you know about publishers?" Well, my #videogame [PROTOTYPE] was the #1 game on release, spawned a sequel and was well received. I got a hoodie. My #videogame NECROPOLIS was published by Bandai Namco and the company quintupled its investment in production. I got a trucker's cap.
neutral · AI labelView post →Music can add so much to a game, so here are my fave songs from games I played in 2024. In the Dawn (Daybreak) Watcher (1000xResist) We the Great Galleon (Jack Jeanne) Necropolis Combat Theme (Veilguard) Time (P3P) Hope is the Thing with Feathers (HSR) To Be Free (Ys X: Nordics)

neutral · AI labelView post →What studio/dev has influenced you a ton, creatively, personally, etc? For me it's @webeharebrained.bsky.social. Battletech got me through Covid & heavily inspired me to make my own game. Necropolis was a visual treat, Shadowrun was lovely, and Graft looks wonderfully twisted. #videogame #gamedev
neutral · AI labelView post →I love this game. I was part of the QA team for it many, many years ago and after all this time, having worked on countless other games, this one has stuck with me and I always felt like it was special. I think it's a shame it isn't more well known and stopped being updated shortly after release. The creative director for the game "Dennis Detwiller" had "Currently creating my opus NECROPOLIS" on his LinkedIn but left the company after it released. Probably because it was his passion project…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Grand Necropolis is just as magnificent as I'd hoped! This is *my* game of the year for sure and certain.
positive · AI labelView post →Could have been something really special, now completely abandoned and half-finished at best. If the price was significantly reduced I'd recommend Necropolis for its unique art style and for being a decent Souls-lite, but as it is now I unfortunately can't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game was fun for a bit but got abandonded by the developers

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#dragonagetheveilguard #virtualphotography My video game husband and my video game home. I want more Necropolis!
neutral · AI labelView post →Its an alright game, sadly it got abandoned. I guess if you find it on a good 75% sale or higher you can give it a try, especially with a few friends. It could have lots of possibility if it would still be worked on, has quite a few bugs/glitches. So dont expect a smooth ride
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm ignoring the in-game backstory and having them be a Fereldan who came to the Necropolis as a teenager. #DragonAge #Veilguard
neutral · AI labelView post →I guess I am just asking if anyone has any other ideas to try to crack this - or if they found any in game confirmation of the translation. (Eg. The "eternity's witness" gravestone in the Necropolis."
neutral · AI labelView post →Get it while it's on sale. Devs abandoned it, and with it my hope for a better game. It was honestly really promising to see something like this but GOD it was just BARE. Maybe someone will come out with a better game/clone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Running some introductory #CallOfCthulhu at my local library today. Going to drop some brand new inestigators into the Necropolis and see what happens 😁 Here's hoping we get some new fans of the game out of this.
neutral · AI labelView post →Still one of the best dungeon generators; Every playthrough is very unique; Very high replay value even after 10 years with no updates.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game just feels unfinished and quite clunky. There is a great premise here but it's obvious that this game needed more time in the oven. In essence, it's a Dark Souls roguelike that supports coop while traversing randomly generated dungeons. There have been many similar games and Necropolis does nothing to really spice up the formula. In addition, the animations and combat just feels incredibly janky. The art style is compelling but there isn't much to this game that I could recommend.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As other users have stated, this is not a game that is worth $30 per player. It's a fun romp with friends for a few hours, but you gotta grab the copies on sale. I could see it being worth $10, maybe up to $15. Also, use a controller if you have one! I usually use keyboard and mouse, but I found the controls a bit more immersive with controller this time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →look man. genuinely someone like you could never understand but in like, 2016? this gane was geniunely the best thing to play. you couldnt pay a million ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dollars to make a game like this. nowadays all we have is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ overwatch. what a miserable world this is.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun but no updates at all, only worth $5 at this point. Negative review because current price tag and completely abandoned for almost 10 years now
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like Dark Souls except it's not Bought this pretty early on, it was a pretty fun and challenging game.. and then it got so repetitive it got tiring to play If you look at other reviews there's very few people that play this for more than 30 hours lol
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's game day! Time to take them to the Necropolis city and hope they don't get recruited into the skeleton war
neutral · AI labelView post →Small scope or abandoned too soon. Not worth the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think one of my favorite parts about Fallout is that the gender of your character actually changes the game and not just in dialogue When i went to Necropolis in Fallout 1 all the mutants in the watershed ignored me because i was a woman LOL
neutral · AI labelView post →Playing Veilguard and bested both optional boss fights in the Crossroads (Level 50!) & the Necropolis (Level 40) at level 32. Because I'm a FREAK. (I know the game isn't that hard and this isn't that impressive, but let me just have this man c'mon)
neutral · AI labelView post →It’s been a few days but this moment in Dragon Age The Veilguard took my breath away. God I love this game and The Grand Necropolis is one of the coolest areas I’ve seen in a game in a long time.
positive · AI labelView post →I'm glad tabletop games like Trench Crusade, Turnip28 and Necropolis exist. I remember looking into Necromunda as the "cheaper" miniature game, and the amount of books needed that could need to be replaced at any moment, it just isn't worth it.
positive · AI labelView post →It's abandonware. Amazing concept and game but the Devs are total and complete morons who won't take the roughly 15 minutes necessary to come up with a patch to make the gameplay better. It's a genuine shame. Don't buy under any circumstances unless magically the devs come back and actually do their jobs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was one of the first people to beat this game and it never got better. This game is awful and the devs abandoned it really early.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I often think about playing this game with my bros years ago. It's a fun solo or co-op souls-like and Rogue-like with randomly generated levels and a decent but not large amount of weapons to choose from. It's a shame that it hasn't been updated in forever and/or doesn't have a squeal. It's not worth the $30 price tag but it is worth picking it up on sale with a few of your bros for a decent co-op experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Necropolis minis from Archon Studio's Heroes of Might and Magic board game. #Homm #Boardgames #paintingminis #painting #paintingminiatures
neutral · AI labelView post →Could have been really good, but was abandoned.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →anyway this game fucking rocks so much, get me to the Necropolis already, I wanna hang with my cool spooky adopted familyyyyy
positive · AI labelView post →I adored every moment in the Grand Necropolis, the Memorial Gardens is probably my favorite place in the whole game! Also thank you so much for giving us Emmrich, he nestled right into my little goth heart 🖤 with Manfred excitedly hissing somewhere ofc
positive · AI labelView post →There would be a lot of potential here if the game was just released. It's disheartening to see such a downside to everything that was done properly. For instance, the beauty and art style in the game clashes with inconsistency and too open of a world. While the randomly-generated maps show innovation for the time it was released, I find the biggest hardship in the game exactly from this feature; getting stuck in walls. As a side note, progression only comes from death or completion, so when…

The crafting for one, although not too complex, is more thought out than most other games I've played. Yes, this game is worth its ticket price in my opinion, and is a fun candidate for a 100% achievement run. 7.5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game feels Early Access. The environments seem interesting for maybe the first few hours of gameplay, before you realize you're going to be seeing a lot of the same ♥♥♥♥ for hours. Enemy design is alright, in terms of a combat system, it's clunky, but I think that's somewhat intentional. Overall, for a roguelike, it gets boring after a few runs, which is really what kills it. I've beaten the game. It really wasn't super rewarding.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Empty scaffold of a game with no actual content
