I've followed this game since it was first teased, and from the beginning I could tell it was gonna be something really special, so I could hardly contain my excitement when I was given the opportunity to be a playtester. Overpass joins a list of recent innovative rhythm games, like A Dance Of Fire And Ice, Retro/Grade, and the upcoming Rhythm Doctor. Overpass' whole concept hits very nicely all the buttons of this overplayed 'vaporwave car-driving game' genre that never really did click with me until now. unfortunately i just can't get down with what should be my jam. the music and conceptual idea are/is great, but the game is plagued with segments where you only have a split second to see an arrow that was hidden behind another prop, making this a rhythm game about rote memorization rather than engaging with the rules/environment

I absolutely love rhythm games, this is the best KBM game I've seen so far. Easy to learn, extremely hard to master, beautiful visuals, creative level design and a community workshop for more tracks. Each level is like a different mechanic, it starts nice and slow but gets pretty hard quickly. Only recommended for somewhat experienced rhythm game players though, it's pretty hard to find your point of focus where you can see everything needed. As far as rhythm games go, I think Overpass is quite unique and that's really what managed to elevate it so much for me. While it's nothing new to have to hit notes as they come at you, Overpass takes this in a new direction by making all the notes show up as object in a 3D world, and while a first glance might not give the impression, this changes how the game works quite considerably. If you're seeing this, chances are you've played rhythm games before, and if that's the main reason you're…

I had been dying to play Overpass since I saw it demoed during some gaming convention like a year ago. I'm a big fan of rhythm/music games so I couldn't wait to play it. This genre has been really underrepresented lately so it's always awesome to have something new. Having said all that, even if there were a ton of quality rhythm games coming out regularly, Overpass would still stand out from the crowd. It is a phenomenal game. Mechanically it is super simple. I am a huge fan of music/rhythm games. I got started with DDR back in 2000 with the original release on PSOne and then sought out other Bemani games, so I am a rhythm game veteran and I'm always looking for unique ideas when it comes to this genre. Overpass is definitely unique and a really excellent beginning. I love rhythm games that don't adhere to the traditional 'scrolling note' structure like a lot of popular games in this genre (Beatmania IIDX, DJ MAX). While scrolling notes is a genre…

That's definitely one of the most unique rhythm games out there. After playing it for a few hours, you may start hearing rhythm while driving near streetlights (don't worry, it goes away). If you're motion sick, I do not recommend you this game. I don't know whether I'd survive it in VR, but even if I do, my neck would definitely hurt. It's possible to make a game play itself, but in doing so you ruin your fun and skip all the lamps. If you really REALLY are that bad, set timing to easy. If…

If you're interested in a unique, great-looking, fun, and well designed rhythm game, Overpass is a great match. Could be the most fun I've had while learning to actually play a game well. There are plenty of goals and extra ways to make it more challenging once you have things down, or you can turn on all the easy modes...if you're a wimp (or if you want to enjoy it as a more relaxing/accessible experience). One the one hand, Overpass is a much more forgiving rhythm action game than most others I've every played. There are no instant failures and only a final tally to tell you if you've done well enough to proceed to the next level or not. The rhythms aren't that complicated either with most notes falling on beats or half beats. There are only three possible notes too, so it isn't like you have six or more potential inputs. Very unique rhythm game with a cool concept and good music. Has a very high skill ceiling with the optional lamps, badges for hitting everything perfectly, and options to make it harder like playing without markers; but is also very accessible with a fairly forgiving bar for clearing each level and options for increasing timing windows, making markers bigger, and automating parts of the game. I wish this game was more well-known.

Overpass really is a hidden gem. From the trailer, the perspective view might look a bit weird, but everything works perflectly in game. The game looks and feels amazing, and the tracks are so well-designed. Every pattern is designed to be visually AND audibly predictible, even if it might look impossible during the first tries. Overall one of the best indie rythm game of these recent years, I really hope the it will meet a great success with time, Studio Bean really deserve it.

Overpass isn't kidding when it says it is "A rhythm adventure from a new perspective." This is literal, as the game's quirk is in how it expresses directions to the player. You cannot see the road, and instead rely on the directions that come up on the screen and move through the eye at the top, which indicates exactly when the input should be pressed and is satisfyingly synced to the music. The method of expressing these inputs is very creative and feels immensely satisfying when understanding…

I'm torn on this game. I *love* the perspective. It taps into that dreamy feeling you get watching the landscape as a passenger in a car. It also forces the player to use their peripheral vision in a way that feels natural. That being said, I don't really feel the urge to come back to this one. I almost feel like the perspective idea here could be reworked into an entirely different genre, and I hope the developer recognizes that.

Overpass is an excellent indie gem. You've seen the trailers, you know what the gameplay is. However, there's some really excellent game design at play here. The tiny symbols you see in the footage may appear to make the game a squint-fest, but in reality that couldn't be further from the truth. Every object is basically a big symbol itself. Let me explain. At the start, you have to click in time with arches passing overhead. Simple. Then, you have to press left and right, but now the arches…

This is another take on the rhythm genre (referring to Molinari’s excellent game, “Soundodger”). Overpass captures the sense of riding in the back seat of a car accompanied by an excellent retro wave soundtrack. For me, “Overpass” is a very nostalgic experience. It’s a throwback to the countless hours spent in the back seat of my dad’s car on the highway, with my GameBoy. Which is a feeling Adam Ellis beautifully captured in his comic panel, although my time spent timing passing street lights…

Overpass is a wonderful rhythm game where you cruise around in dry deserts, flourishing forests, vivacious villages, and other various places that all seem to feel...industrial or futuristic in a way, and you're tasked with collecting data about these locations. You do this by hitting markers that are placed on the several objects you drive past; stone pillars, shooting stars, trees, traffic signs, titular overpasses, etc, all in time with the music. Right off the bat the music is absolutely phenomenal, which is important since the entire game is built around the tracks. I really love how creative the levels are, constantly adding new dimensions to what should be a relatively simple 3-note rhythm game. I remember being utterly enthralled with the concept of this game, when it came out I played it without blinking for way too long I think. The first time I hit the beat on a shooting star I felt immersed in a way I haven't felt in many games since. 10/10

Skip Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, you just need a game changing 1v1 on Overpass and you've basically just healed your being.
