A janky mess that could be redeemed by having anything other than a trashy discord community & shared attitude by the devs toward gross queer people like me. I bought this game for cyberpunk anime girls and breakcore. not for this ♥♥♥♥. Completely setting aside outside factors. (because lets be completely real the average person couldn't care less about an immature developer and a toxic discord community) Peripeteia is a pretty promising proof of concept that falls flat on its face when it comes to standing out on its own. It doesn't do anything exceedingly good and certainly not better than any of the games inspiring it. $25 united states dollars …

I usually don't write reviews but the game appears to be going through a negative reviewbomb and I would like to do my part in going against this notion because I feel it to be undeserved. This is a good game. An unpolished, partially messy fun game. I received the game in Digiphile-bundle and only played for a couple of hours but so far it's been an immersive and rich playground. It's organized into levels where …

This game is very good at representing an eastern european society during very hard times. There are many games about slavs often pivoting around slavic mythology but this game is unique. Developers made a game about people rebuilding a society after a cataclysm inside post-WW2 cyberpunk setting. There is a clear bias towards Poland but you are free to side against them. You get a lot of freedom in this game. Maybe …

Fun and immersive game, especially if you are from Eastern Europe and you grew up in the 80s or 90s.

Players who liked Peripeteia talk about immaculate vibes and art direction; those who didn't talk about very janky and buggy gameplay. Which matters more to you?

Critics, per Wikipedia

PC Gamer's Joshua Wolens said that Peripeteia "feels a little like the beautiful mutant hybrid of Stalker and Deus Ex," owing to its immersive sim roots. PCGamesN's Oisin Kuhnke said "it also feels like the original Thief, especially given its themes of authoritarian government, and levels built around verticality." Eurogamer's Lewis Gordan, while criticizing Peripeteia for its bugs and poor enemy AI, praised that "the moments this game conjures as you navigate the various strata of its crumbling, vertiginous megacity, stumbling across sights capable of filling you simultaneously with dread and awe are superbly powerful." In February 2025, RPGFan's Ben Love elaborated on the lacking AI in…

I have found a new video game to play called PERIPETEIA. It's only available for the personal computer, and you must have a strong constitution in order to play it, but, it has lots of very long hallways that don't go anywhere, and many boring elevator rides that last 30+ seconds. Try it.

Really solid Deus Ex style immersive sim that has unfortunately been effectively abandoned* (Edit: since this review was first posted the game has gotten a very solid update and if Steam offered it I would change my review to mixed instead of negative, details below. The rest of this review with the exception of these edits at the bottom will be unchanged until 1.0 releases). There hasn't been new content added since September 28th 2025, and that new content was just UI changes, a button for an…

It's funny/sad that there's about a 50/50 split on responses to this mess. Half are 'What the hell, I just assumed Peripeteia was by trans lesbians' and the other half are 'I knew it, the game was made by chan edgelords'. And the game gives off both signals which, honestly, implies the former to me

Let me preface this by stating that I did love this game, and recommended it highly to my friends. I enjoyed the gameplay, worldbuilding, and the surreal gritty cyberpunk aesthetic it has. I've played it quite a bit, as you can see, and have gushed about it to others. Unfortunately, I can no longer in good conscience recommend it, and have taken the step to explicitly recommend against it, given who benefits from the sales, the kind of community the developers have made, and the great harm that…

Been playing it a lot this past week and still can't get Peripeteia out of my head. I expect very weird reactions to it when it releases, because it is, for many, the opposite of a good videogame. The developers know this. They've described the demo as a filter to keep those people from buying it.

I really loved what was created here. Everything about it catered to what I love about the Cyberpunk and Immersive Sim Genre. And its' unique artstyle was the most captivating part. But as well as anywhere else- I am refusing to support a dev that is clearly this full of hate and hates people like me for simply existing and engaging in contemporary media. Sorry, but your money is better worth putting either in the time to create a game yourself or buy something else. I sadly can't refund it…

Got this for the interesting style and world. I enjoyed the inventory management, augment system, and shooting mechanics. But the level design is pretty bad, with massive areas with no real purpose other than to make you run more, and elevators that take minutes to reach a floor because a building is unnecessarily massive. As well as baffling decisions (Like the first mission has a train station that is supposedly owned/controlled by a group, but their headquarters has no connection to it nor…

I really really wanted to like this game. The aesthetics are great, the music is suiting and there's a clear passion put into some small details in this world. There's a lot to like and some real genuine creativity here. But my god it's frustrating. Bugs are everywhere, the maps are pointlessly big with nothing to find when you explore. A lot of this game's strengths end up being it's weaknesses, what's the point of a character that can use abilities with no chance to use them due to…

It has so many elements I appreciate - the freedom of movement, the brushing on philosophical topics in the story, the weird-lady protagonist, the gun systems that are just in-depth enough to scratch my itch for that sort of thing, atmosphere oozes out of every pore and it all has a pretty clear vision... *But.* *But* - That's the word with Peripeteia. The first level (the Arcology) actually delivers: you’re free to sneak, shoot, climb, or talk your way through, checking every filthy corner like a true scavslav. Peripeteia will introduce young gamers to a product extremely out of time. It is out of time in several ways: Graphically, narratively, and game-mechanically. Graphically, it compares to games banking on eye-wateringly bad graphics such as Cruelty Squad or the PSX-pixel renaissance occurring in the horror genre. Dark/unlit areas are genuinely pixel-dead-black and no contrast changes on your monitor will assist. The built in lighting system is relatively rubbish, and there's a constant…

the game has immaculate vibes + art direction and just feels really good to play indie jank aside. the only con i can bring up is how chuddy and hateful the community that surrounds this game is for some reason. again the game itself is really good and has a very promising future but just don’t interact with the community in the slightest or even think about them until they decide to change and grow as people.

Maybe too much. It's OK that player doesn't have a map, that maps themeselves are too…
