POSTAL Redux
Developer Running With Scissors
Postal is a 1997 isometric shoot 'em up video game developed by Running with Scissors and published by Ripcord Games. The player controls an anonymous gun-toting man (informally dubbed the "Postal Dude") as he commits mass murder in the town of Paradise, Arizona under questionable circumstances. Each level sees players killing a given percentage of police officers, military personnel, and other armed "hostiles"… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

POSTAL is pure hatred turned into a videogame. No goofy humor like the later games, no trying to be cute, this thing is just angry, ugly, violent, and uncomfortable the whole way through. The atmosphere feels wrong in the best possible way, like you’re playing something you probably shouldn’t be. The soundtrack, the screaming civilians, the dark empty maps… it all feels weirdly oppressive. And yeah, gameplay-wise …

A much better version of the first POSTAL, it retains all the violence and chaos of the original, but with far more polished graphics and controls. If you enjoyed POSTAL, Redux is essentially an improved version of it.

This game somehow feels wrong to play. However i Really enjoyed the gameplay and was able to finish it in about 1h 30m. I'm keen to play Postal 2 next and i will likely return to finish off the achievements. The game crashes about a minute after launching. Thankfully there is a helpful steam guide that recommends launching the game with your internet off, waiting 1 - 3 minutes, then turning your internet back on. …

Postal Redux is the remake of the very first Postal game, which had a different, more serious tone than it's sequel. This game is such an enigma to me, because while I don't like playing with the original and this game has the better gameplay, the presentation and atmosphere gets lost with it's graphics. The original had a more gritty feeling artstyle, it feels like they wanted to improve the graphics, but at the …

Critics, per Wikipedia
NPD Techworld, a firm that tracked sales in the United States, reported 49,036 units sold of Postal by December 2002. Postal received mixed reviews from critics. It holds a Metacritic score of 56/100. GameSpot's Mark East gave the game a 6.6/10 score and commented: "The lack of longevity in the single-player mode and the simplistic multiplayer options make Postal a moderately fun ride, at best." On regards to The Postal Dude's aggressive personality East comments on the Postal Dude's phrases from his diary, which indicate "something's not quite right in Postal Dude's noggin". Next Generation reviewed the PC version of the game, rating it four stars out of five, and stated that "Overall,…

Trying to do my pacifist run where I only kill cops has led me to discover that cops will gladly fire a rocket at a civilian if it means they MIGHT hit you, they will run at civilians directly if lit aflame, they will shoot THROUGH civilians to get YOU, they use civilians as meatshields and LOVE to walk into heavily populated areas mid-shootout. Honestly? The accurate rural police experience. 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy Postal Redux and I can see the effort that went into rebuilding the game, but I still struggle to recommend it at its current price because it removes several key elements that made the original stand out in the first place. From a pure gameplay perspective, Redux is excellent. The shooting feels smoother, movement is tighter, and the controls respond far better than they did in the original 1997 release of Postal. Combat flows more naturally and the pacing feels faster and more…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's never going to exist a game like Postal. Despite being extremely niche, i really like everything about it, the concept of being a crazy lunatic who thinks he is the salvation of the humanity is ridiculous but at the same time very interesting. You are evil and perverse, you don't feel remorse or empathy for the people you kill, you start a nonstop massacre in the name of a "thing" that only exists in your head, quite similar to some cases that happened in real life, in the early 80s and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Guns are better than in the original. The loading screens aren't as good, but you're here for the gameplay. Perfect game to calm you down when your seething about hypergamy keeps you up at 3am.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sealed Dreamcast game in 2025 from @vgnysoft.bsky.social + @rwsstudios.com - love it. replayed Postal Redux earlier this summer; really interested to compare and try out the local co-op out with my gf.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Almost 10 years passed. Still sucks. Still unwanted, even by the devs themselves. Pick the original, it's free and still rocks.

neutral · AI labelView post →POSTAL Redux is in my opinion, an example of a remake done right! Unlike most modern remakes Redux actually offers quite a bit more. Rampage Mode gives you another way to approach the levels, Excess Postage expands the campaign, an entirely new level called The Carnival was added, and the game even features full co-op. Despite all of these additions, Redux manages to retain most of what made the original POSTAL effective in the first place. And that is important, because POSTAL was never…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Postal Redux is a good almost one to one remake of the original game. The new visuals look great and the game runs well. It’s an isometric shooter which is different from all the entries after this one but this still works for the franchise. Shooting feels nice and gun variety is very good especially considering this game will take you under 4 hours. Even though your base starting SMG has infinite ammo it’s weak and the other guns being better even in different situations encourages you to use…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I put off playing this game as i had feared it would be old, outdated and decrepit. As someone who thought the concept of hatred was pretty good but with terrible gameplay i expected more of that. I was wrong, this game is freaking awesome! Me as a child would have loved this game. It feels like playing ps2 GTA again just being on a rampage. Pure fun! Additionally you cannot beat the price of it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →plays so much better compared to the og but it hasn't fully captured the unsettling feeling the og had, loved it either way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Runs wayyy smoother than the og but it has to run first. Thankfully there is a manual fix in the community for the instant crashes for intel 10th and 11th gen cpus but would like for it to be patched as well.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was invited to the CO-OP mode by some friends, there was a copy of the game in the family share (lol) and after playing start to finish just from that, I can confidently say this is THE best postal game and the most fun. I even bought it myself despite me technically having access to it for free, because these jokers sell this game for under ONE DOLLAR?? crazy ass deal I'll take it bro! substantially better and better priced than every other entry in the series, especially compared to the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, not better than the og. The only things that I did feel better was the gameplay but not by much, the charm of the first kinda went away with this one. Still I think this one is more replayable and its still very good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it’s like Hatred, but actually cool
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played so many horror games, but this game out of ALL I've played genuinely gave me extremely gory nightmares and i really cant really recommend for that reason. The atmosphere was genuinely just that good. The loading screens are nightmare fuel. Literally.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You're not going to hell for playing this game...this IS the Hell. Mwha ha ha ha haaa. In all seriousness, I consider it superior to the original in terms of controls. It is far easier to navigate the arsenal than in the original version. Guns and explosives are mapped to their own triggers instead of only being able to use one or the other. As for the final scene, while it may not be as unique, it still manages to serve as a fitting end for Postal Dude's rampage. Also, given the events…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cant Explain how happy I was when they released the CPU patch, I can actually play the game now
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Come for the gunplay, stay for the loading screens.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A rip-off of The Darkness but set in the Postal universe. Ironically enough, after the release of Postal Redux RWS decided that nobody was interested in a serious Postal game, so they started making a remake of Postal 2 on UE4 that later turned into Postal 4.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just play the original. The remake is slop. The characters look like goofy cartoons, not to mention that a lot of the enemies in the game have been gender-swapped, with some of them being race-swapped as well. It completely ruins the immersion. The ending of the game was also changed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I went into Postal 1 knowing that it was a much darker and more serious game than any of its sequels, since it was primarily made to generate outrage and was created before the Postal series really figured out its identity and style. And that's true, but I think my bigger issue with Postal 1 is more that it doesn't have any semblance of a story. Positive things first: once again, no one ever really discusses the Postal series in terms of them being well-designed shooters (as I mentioned…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games are bad, they make you mad!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a bug where if you're playing on higher fps, your mouse gets jittery a lot. This was a problem since 2018 and devs are refusing to fix it. Since I can't play in it's state, the review stays as negative until it's fixed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun, it's a short game even on the excess postage mode but there is multiplayer and rampage mode so I see my self playing more of this 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This remake brings a lot of quality-of-life improvements to the original game, which was already pretty good. The improved visuals make the details on the screen easier to read, while the addition of a damage indicator on enemies makes it easier to tell when an enemy is about to die. The damage output of some weapons has also been fixed, such as the regular shotgun and the basic SMG. I would say that this remake improves upon the original and is definitely worth playing. However, I would…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I prefer the first original 1997 version because of its simpleness (and it runs like BUTTER compared to this one) but I do admit this one fixed some of the issues I did have. The game moves better mostly, it feels nicer control and mechanic wise like with some weapons and such. The music is also incredible. Even though I think the droning ambience of the original is what made it so eerie, the breakcore does add a lot of fun tension!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you get hooked on the atmosphere of a crazy meat grinder, then the game will definetly drag on for the evening, but no more
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Might be the greatest POSTAL game right after POSTAL 2. Muliplayer is something they should've made in the other games aswell.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Postal Redux more like "Postal after taking a shower." Postal Redux is a remake of the original Postal with updated graphics, new voice lines, extra levels, co-op, Rampage mode, and some bonus content. The problem is that while it looks better, it loses a lot of the atmosphere that made the original so memorable. The 1997 version feels dirty, disturbing, and genuinely unsettling. Redux feels much cleaner and more polished, but also less unique. The gameplay also isn't great. Enemies feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's POSTAL (1997) but better! The additions of new content such as the Revolver, the new Carnival level, and the massive addition of Co-Op and Rampage Mode is a amazing touch to a already fun game

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not think that this game would be my cup of tea, but I surprisingly enjoyed myself more than I thought I would (probably concerning, not gonna lie). I'll probably try out the sequel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fantastic, a wonderful blend of horror and shock. It's a masterpiece
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Postal: REDUX is an amazing game with one crucial flaw: it will not be open for more than a minute without crashing unless you change a pc setting. It's not a pain in the back to do per se, but the fact that you have to do it in the first place is a bit of a pain, especially considering even a lead dev links the fix for the game. In regards to the game itself, it's a lot of fun. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Postal Redux is a fun game for people who like shooters and a bit of classic violence. It is quite easy to get into and simple to play. Nothing too complex but you have a nice variety of weapons and levels to go through to keep things interesting. It makes a good retro game that you can always go back to once in a while.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great remake! Improves a lot from the original. It feels super fluid, the new difficulty system is great and the rampage game mode is awesome. I'm almost finishing the all A+ achievement and it's been a blast! Way better than the grindy ones in the original. Also, the OST slaps. Super excited to see how Postal 2 Redux turns out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really good remaster to a game that fixes a lot of the issues with the original New modes are a blast The original soundtrack of POSTAL 1 is kept whilst adding the Rampage OSTs
