Its a very cool concept, but drastically needs better 'comeback' and more 'scenarios'. Starting with what I call scenarios - there are 3 maybe 4 multi year decisions that 'might have an effect later' until fully resolved: They show up EVERY RUN and changing one decision does nothing to the other decisions except maybe getting a different resolution at the very end. For agame that wants multiple playthroughs and …

The most impressive thing about this game is it makes a card battler roguelike that runs for 2.5 hours that doesn't feel long at all and that when I clear a run I still want to go back and start another. I've LONG thought that any sort of roguelike running longer than 50 minutes is intolerable but this is proof all those games just sucked at it and Prime Monster is exquisite. This is going to be the first time I ever leave a review on the game because I think this has potential but as a lot of people have similarly said it loses it's luster after one or two runs. While I did personally enjoy the game after completing one run of it I have considered refunding it, and very well might, due to the sheer fact I cannot see myself playing it again. It simply does not feel like a 20$ game to me …

If I could, I would give this game a neutral review. It's not bad, but it didn't really impress me either. If you played the demo and you were extremely pleased with what you saw then it's probably worth a buy, but otherwise the full game isn't really that much deeper than what featured in the demo. THE GOOD 1. The core gameplay loop is good. There's a solid foundation here, and the mechanics all work well. 2. The presentation of the game is very nice. The sound effects, the character…

It has a lot of polish and flavor, but gameplay was shallow. I really like the concept of the MPs. The idea of trying to rally my own party, and tactically sabotage the enemy's. It was at its best when the enemy applied buffs that can be stolen by swaying their members. Like goblins would apply a buff that increased how many votes that MP counted for, so switching them to your side was more votes! But all your MP are the same, and most buffs don't care about for/against/abstain. I wanted ways…

I want to make it clear to the devs that I don't post this to hate. The gameplay is good, great even, and its a unique spin on deck builder roguelikes with the MPs being the whole target. But as a coherent engaging experience the game is weak. If you are someone who doesnt care much for story then this game is worth picking up and you can stop reading here. I genuinely enjoyed watching Olexa play this game in his sponsored video. But getting and playing it myself, I realized much of my…

It's...fine. It's fine! It's a completely inoffensive deckbuilder that needs a lot more variety. If the intent is to keep adding things, it will eventually be a very worthy purchase, but right now it's pretty anemic for the asking price; you pretty much see everything you're going to see in a few plays. And re-running it is fine, but...there's a lot of competition in the same space.

The game is fun, it delivers what the demo and the trailers promised. The coalition mechanic was a big surprise, although the last fight with the can't see opponents moves character was kinda a guessing game. I also learned the value of using the last turn to stock up on political capital.

Prime Monster: A Well Designed, Well Polished Rogue Like Experience With Limitless Potential Let me just start out by saying that this game is phenomenal. As someone who really enjoys Slay the Spire, it really hit the spot. The Good The animations are very well polished, it runs great (I was able to play it on my janky work laptop from 2016), and the overall theme of the game is simply delightful. The concept is worth it, but the execution is somehow underwhelming, the deckbuilding feels a little off after the first run with each character, you got some clear combos and a short arrange of options, the roguelite component it's missing in the progress of the game, only unlocking characters and some modifiers of the difficulty; The game is good by itself, but for me it's more like a Demo than a Version 1.0, great art, great idea, great narrative, but repetitive and not as exciting as it…

It's fun, but unlike most card games, you only have a few working builds for each playable character. Once you figure those out, it's pure RNG to create these engines that work. You'll restart a couple times trying to get your engine running, and then once you get it going, you're unstoppable. The game gets boring relatively fast... you don't unlock anything for winning besides more difficulty. Which simply means the stakes are higher and you need better RNG. Which means more restarts trying…

Overall, if you're contemplating buying this game, I would say 'not yet.' The presentation is very polished, the writing is clever, and there's some fun unique ideas at play here... but currently the game depends too much on randomness as you climb the difficulties. In the best deckbuilders (and this is not a traditional 'deck-builder per say, as you can never actually change the cards in your deck, just your abilities), even when you're on a run that will eventually be a loss, you still feel…

It would have been obvious enough for Cavalier Game Studios to 'just' make a straightforward deck-builder; the cards already have numbers on them, make that the Political Capital (energy) cost to play them, and have your Political Capital refresh every turn. Allow you to swap and modify your deck, and there you go; a standard deck-building roguelike. It is to their credit in many ways that they didn't do that. Instead, Prime Monster isn't really a deck-builder, as you can't edit your deck of…

This game is geniuenly fantastic. Pretty much every complaint that people had since launch (adding fast mode, being able to give feedback, being able to cancel cards) has been added by the devs in just a month. To me, that's a great sign both that the devs care, and that they'll continue to make this game even better. It's got fun builds, interesting decisions, and it's really freaking funny. Give if it sounds interesting, give it a shot, it won't disappoint :)

It's clear the devs spent a LOT of time on the Orc deck, but not so much on the other 2. Hopefully they're still doing balance and sanity reviews, because there are multiple misprints and non-functional cards/skills here Cards that upgrade into the exact same card with no change, leader mechanics that don't trigger when they should, staff member bonuses that don't work at all... these would be fine for an early access game, but this is billed as a full release. While I admit that the game is nice, it is also to expensive for the content it provides. You have three playable charachters (of which not all of them are equally balanced it seems) that play differently. Not to shabby, but not a lot either. You have multiple difficulties, but the first two feel like a cakewalk, and the later ones just take away a lot of the agancy you have by reducing money you get, which is one of the main ways to actually distinct your playstyle by buying staffmembers and…

Funny art, humor and an idea with a ton of whimsical details and the setting is brilliant, reminding me a bit of the Cartoon Network golden age in style. They even made monster "simlish" which sounds so funny. And I wish SO hard that I could recommend it, but... The mechanics randomly switch between three outcomes: 1. This game has a lot of promise but ultimately I think it fails to live up to it. Only 3 playable characters seems rather short, given the short game cycle, and its not really a deckbuilding or rogue lite either. There is no advancement beyond opening up things to increase your score. Being able to use legacy to advance politician stats would be nice, like base hand size, or like basic defense, or even just purchase tactics that you can start with beyond the basics. Instead of trying to convince you, I would recommend playing the demo. It's fairly short, but the tutorial is solid and covers the general game loop pretty well (progress from the demo does not transfer to the main game, so you'll have to play the tutorial twice). Only 3 decks to play with. Not much customizability to make the deck feel your own. No gameplay loop, so anything you gain is quickly thrown away due to arbitrary progression end. Game felt too easy: - enemy spawns with a higher score than you to give the illusion of difficulty - but your engine always grows much faster than theirs so you quickly turn the score in your favor to win - even with a 20 point lead you still need to wait the predetermined number of rounds for the debate to end so…

This game is not a deckbuilder, not by any stretch. You get a starting deck and you never get new cards, you just slowly upgrade them as the game goes on. The only thing you get as a "deck" of sorts are energy-crystal powered tactics you can collect, upgrade, and swap out. The primary strategy of this game involves selecting a series of tactics powers that synergize, and adjusting your strategies depending on the opponents you will face. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but I felt like the word…

It would be nice if there are cards which can draw other cards as a hand of 3 is too small to regularly get synergistic cards. The game gives you a whole bunch of tactics but the number of tactic slots are limited, plus it is very difficult to get upgrade tactics you want as the upgrade needs to be selected from three randomly selected tactics. Despite these complaints, I recommend the game as it is…

I've been keeping an eye on this game for a few months, and being able to finally play the full version is awesome :3 it's a great take on the card game roguelike/slay the spire-y genre and it's very humorous, but also very capable of giving you a challenge if you're looking for one! I do think it's a solid game that is definitely worth your money on special as it is right now, but I do hope that they continue updating and adding more to this game because it does feel like it can get stale…

This game is underrated for sure. You could play it just for the unique theme, humor and great production value but the gameloop is good too. Might not be the deepest Roguelike on the planet but it doesn't really matter in this case. Deserves a lot more attention! Great work devs!

Incredible game, very addictive! From the music and the colorful visuals to the actual gaemplay mechanics its truly turned out to be one of the best roguelikes to be released in 2026. It does have different levels of challenges and and cards to use making it replayable for quite a while. I'd love to see some add ons or at least more candidates over time but even as it is, the games good! if you don't lose the game you can beat each run in a couple hours or less. Not to long allowing you to beat…

Pretty good, I bounced off of it when I first tried it. But the second time was smooth. Even the fast mode feels slow. It is fun, but gets rather boring fast. At least to me, with a lot of deckbuilder experience under my belt.

A good rougelike idea that is good for a while if you know what you are doing, however I suggest more monsters to play as to keep things fresh and unique.

Peak roguelike, loved how the names were parodies of historical politicians and I loved figuring out who each one was in real life. Cannot recommend enough. Underrated OST
