The anti-grav racing field is getting crowded, and that's awesome! For all of the ones I've seen and tried, this game sells it's sense of RAW SPEED better than just about any other. You really feel like your'e going 500+km/hr when you're blitzing down a straight - it's genuinely intense. Been playing Redout 2 and, whilst I think it's cool as shit, I feel like a racing game that has a starting crusing speed around 800kph, has 2 separate steering systems, and has 2 boost systems, might be designed for someone who doesn't have a 39 year old's reaction times.

Let me make this clear: I WANT to like this game. I adore anti-gravity racers like F-Zero and Wipeout. This game SHOULD be everything I want and more. The music is great, the vehicle designs are wonderful, the controls are good, and the actual layouts of the tracks are great too, going in all manner of different directions to emphasize the zero-gravity nature of the game. So then why am I giving this game a negative review? The answer is simple: The actual art direction of the tracks and…

This is pure, no nonsense arcade racing. It is the distilled spirit of arcade racing. It flows with joy, and pleasure. This genuinely makes me feel the way I did about racing games as a child. It makes my inner child happy. I am genuinely happy that this games exists. It's like drinking a cold capri sun on a hot day. The career and difficulty can definitely be tweaked, it's not perfect. Online multiplayer is also dead. But the mechanics, the smooth and polished driving mechanics, are worth…

This game is the best thing I've ever played behind BallisticNG. Whoever came up with the idea of the music changing depending on your speed needs a raise. Nothing is more fun than a badass guitar solo kicking in as you shoot down a hill at mach 7 only to slam into a wall because the game doesn't let you get cocky. That's a good thing.

I'm seriously questioning the design choice the dev went with this. This could be a really great zero gravity racer but the execution is really off the mark. First of all, the tracks needs to be wider, the pods needs to be more grippier and less floaty. The technical sections needs to chill the F out in early game cause the available class isn't capable enough. And most of all, C'mon dude let me go fast and zip through the levels like a speed maniac cause the game looks really impressive with…

Don't let the bright and happy colors fool you, this is one of the actively meanest racing games ive played ever, and i cannot tell if all the hostile stuff is malice or incompetence. Essential gameplay systems are poorly or not at all explained. Tracks are actively designed full of "gotcha" traps that cant be seen or anticipated and have to be driven from memory. Controls are buggy - including multiple axis getting double-assigned on my gamepads so certain jumps were impossible or i was…

This is the natural next step if you loved F-Zero, Extreme-G, or Wipeout, but are disappointed by the lack of support in the arcade racing category. Wonderful sense of speed, lots of technical nuance, fun and interesting track designs, high difficulty, plenty of variety, plays well online. Downsides: huge difficulty spikes between tracks, many of the upgrade parts are not generally useful.

KInda good, but no I mean it is kind of good unless you are old like me and just can't help but compare it to wipeout 2097, Which i do, and as a comparison it just is not good. Power ups are lack luster. The ship design is nice but not great. I do love the music. Tracks are also a bit bland. It just doesn't seem to have anything that makes you go yes. More ....meh. Hard to put a finger on, but it truly is a potential masterpiece that got sneezed on.

Hence, I'd like to start over, and --- there is not even a "new campaign" button?! This game gives me everything I could have wanted. Challenging but fair tracks, lots of loops, and speed. A truly excellent soundtrack that really sets the mood. Truly awesome! A must-have for racing fans. And stay away from the second game, the first one is better. Be sure to get the DLCs, too, they’re all great.

I have. But Redout isn't big enough to bring a lot new AG players in. This, by virtue of having a budget behind it, and hence marketing, will. And that's the kind of thing that keeps the genre alive. BNG is fantastic, but it's mostly being enjoyed by people who got into the genre through WipEout.

Firstly, the large vehicles, excessive bloom lighting, and sometimes narrow colour palettes (especially on the Alaska tracks) often leads to situations where you're either taking certain corners completely blind or otherwise can't see where you're going. Seriously, the Wipeout games are incredible. I’ve been thinking about buying another ps4 for that game alone… Sony is doing that ip such a disservice. Have you played Ballistic.NG and Redout 2? Redout 2 has the most insane track layouts, hull management, and handling. It’s divisive, but I think that a lot of the hate the game gets is from people who pick it up as their first AG racer.

Wipeout is one of my favourite series so wanted to share this. Almost certainly it started my love of the genre, the symbolism, the music and other games like Rollcage, Fast Racing Neo, F-Zero, Redout and GRIP.

Redout is a weird one. It got a lot of comparisons to F-Zero because of the speed but it plays a lot more like Wipeout, or like an F-Zero/Wipeout hybrid. It’s very fast, and the steering mechanics are interesting as it requires using both joysticks to steer through a lot of turns. I like it, but find it pretty difficult. The ships tend to be a bit floaty and the main thing is controlling well to not hit walls as they utterly kill your momentum. With BallisticNG, it does ape on Wipeout a lot…

Probably the first racing game I've played in damn near 20 years, this one eschews the realism normally associated with the genre and takes us back to the PS2 era of futuristic fantasy and F-Zero inspired racers, which is what caught my eye. The visual design of this game is excellent. The cars all harken back to vintage sci-fi designs reminiscent of early Star Wars ships - often with little hints of beloved real-world car design sprinkled in - while the locales and race tracks speak to…

    23) Redout The first racing game I've played in damn near 20 years, this is a real throwback to the PS2 era of futuristic fantasy and F-Zero inspired racers. The action is intense, the tracks are sprawling and difficult, and the visuals are gorgeous (provided you don't get overwhelmed easily). A+!
