What people are saying
Most players praise the bold shift, but some miss the original stealth.

positive · AI labelView post →Pleased to report that the new game Final Fantasy Resonance is *tremendous*, a must-play for anyone who loves the SNES Final Fantasy games and hopefully the beginning of a new Square strategy to produce both 3D and 2D games moving forward.
positive · AI labelView post →I’m thrilled to announce Final Fantasy Resonance is terrific, and devastated to announce Vaan is one of the most useful visions in the game. Thanks to GI for letting me review it! ❤️❤️❤️
positive · AI labelView post →This is a warning to any potential buyers of the game. First off, I am a huge fan of the plague tale series, I have fully played the other two entries and have even replayed Requiem 4 times over now. What made me make this review isnt the game itself, but the way the developers and the community mods are treating this game and silencing any valid criticism or feedback that they are receiving. I will outline the core issues the game has right now but be warned this review might not be up for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am torn on this one. I really, really enjoyed previous Plague Tale games. 100% them both and I was looking forward to whatever Asobo Studio would do next. So Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy comes around and I decide to buy it day one - which isn't something I'm usually doing, especially not before even reading any reviews. Played whole game on the highest difficulty setting (Nightmare), so some of my points will make more or less sense depending on which difficulty you would select and your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love A Plague Tale. I played the first 2 games to 100%. The story's amazing in both games. Characters are unforgettable! So one could say I had really high expectations going into Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. Here I am, finally played it, to 100% too. I'm a little mixed on how I feel about it and I will explain below, so let's get to it! Usually I do a pro's and con's list but I am going to include parts about the story and characters because I think I need to explain my reasoning behind…

neutral · AI labelView post →Just played a small portion of the demo for Final Fantasy Resonance & honestly Square Enix didn’t have to sell me on this game anymore as I was already all in on day 1, but now? I’m even more excited to play this game. Hearing the theme song of Final Fantasy was so lovely. 🥰 @square-enix-games.com
positive · AI labelView post →I completed the Final Fantasy Resonance demo and it’s everything I hoped it would be. If this game doesn’t lead to more turn based Final Fantasy games, I’ll be disappointed.
positive · AI labelView post →Super late to the party but Control is really good…. It’s been on my ‘one of those days’ list for years now, and with Resonance out, they ran a $6 Steam sale for the original which put it in the impulse buy category. Fast forward a week and I’m out of town for work with some hotel time to kill so hooked my Steamdeck up to the TV and gave it a go and wow… I see what the hype is about. Any non spoiler tips, tricks, or things I should be on the lookout for?
neutral · AI labelView post →This game looks amazing. The world is so rich and varied, but... and it’s a big but, I just can’t get into it. I really wanted to love this game, just as I loved the two previous masterpieces. Maybe my expectations were too high, but after playing for a full day, I still can’t get invested in the story and world. The girlboss stuff is nonsense. I saw it in the trailers and hoped there would be a good reason for her to take on four or five men and win. But no. It’s just ridiculous girlboss…

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is the first HD-2D FF game and has turn-based battles, summons, chocobos, moogles, airships… basically my dream game. This is something special and I think you all will love it. 😊
positive · AI labelView post →I’m assuming this has something to do with my personal algorithm but when I search “Control: Resonant” I get a few results for the game and a lot of results like HOW TO CONTROL YOUR RESONANCE: VOICE TRAINING FOR TRANSGENDERS, which is kind of an intriguing thing to think about in the game’s vicinity

neutral · AI labelView post →I've beaten Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy! It took me about 10 hours on Normal Difficulty. This game is quite different than the previous 2 games and I really enjoyed it. This game is very linear with a heavy emphasis on story telling and narrative. There is lots of cutscenes and dialogue but it's all written and voice acted extremely well. The game play is a mix of light exploration sections and puzzle solving in ruins, caves, etc. (similar to Uncharted or Tomb Raider) and combat or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended Played via Xbox Play Anywhere Trades stealth/rats for action adventure combat... Story: Sophia + Theseus/Minotaur myth, well told Visuals & music: standout, some of the best in the series Combat: fast parry/dodge system, fun but familiar (AC style) Puzzles: varied, light based, never repeats itself Stealth: limited screen time Performance: rock solid A well made, if familiar, spin off. Worth it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Final. Fantasy Resonance is what every mobile game should do when it sunsets as a live service; Take all the viable content and create one last off-line, console worthy traditional game without any of the gacha and stamina bs that drives people like me away.
positive · AI labelView post →Resonance is a rather bold third entry. Before getting into comparisons and complaints, I should say this: it manages to positively differentiate itself from the previous entries while still preserving the identity of the series. Although the first half did not fully win me over, the second half feels much closer to what I expect from APT, especially in terms of environmental design and storytelling. If you're worried that the game has abandoned what made the series special, you can put those…

Rote parry/dodge action that’s more responding to prompts than player expression BUT Characters? Scenery? MUSIC?! Yes. This earns the Plague Tale name 🔥

On the Steam Deck, you have chapters 1-2 (I haven't played any more yet). With a medium preset and upscaling, I get a stable 30 fps, and with a low preset and upscaling, around 40-50 fps. :) If you also want to use frame generation, you can have a nice 60-70 fps game. :) So far, I'm really surprised and can recommend it right now. :) Here's a test video on…

neutral · AI labelView post →The combat in this game is the only good thing. The exploration and story are mediocre at best and the writing is TERRIBLE. The game tries to pull at your heartstrings before you can even care about the characters and the banter between Sophia and Leni falls flat. You can tell that this game was designed like a Sony Exclusive (to the point of literally copying the opening sequence from Horizon Zero Dawn) but it doesn't land for me.

positive · AI labelView post →I'm really sad about this game. I've been looking forward to another plague tale game for ages and this game ruined it for me. graphics and feel was astounding but, I didn't feel attached to any of the characters (and clearly neither did the creators of the game). The lore was okay.. but it just didn't have anywhere near the same feel as the other games did. The previous games we got to see the suffering and feel the urgency of trying to help them but, in this game I just.. didn't. Not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a shame, it really is. I adored the last two Plague Tale games. Perfect? Nope, but what game is, right? I'll start with the good: the atmosphere is still as solid as the previous games. The music is still strong, and it does a lot of the emotional heavy lifting to be certain. The combat isn't to my taste, but I can't deny that it flows really well and can be satisfying once mastered. I wish I could say more, but I can't. The story just isn't there. There isn't a character in this game…

negative · AI labelView post →It is literally Pirate Tomb Raider, and I love it. You can see the Tomb Raider(2013) DNA all around. It's waaay better than the two first plague tale games. If you want more of that, you will be disappointed. I sure am not. And god, this game is beautiful and runs well.

neutral · AI labelView post →Really impressive experience, I especially loved the visuals, audio design, and the creature. The atmosphere feels dark and immersive, the audio design does an excellent job of making the world feel alive and unsettling. The creature is easily one of my favorite part of the game. Its design is creepy and memorable, and the way its sounds and breaths makes every encounter feel tense and unpredictable. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game so much! As a Plague Tale fan who adores the first two games, it is really nice to see Asobo shaking things up with different gameplay. I like the new combat approach and the stealth sections feel fair and less frustrating than the previous games. Also, as expected, this game is so beautiful! It feels like an interactive painting. The OST slaps hard as well, right from the main menu. The story feels different yet familiar and fits the world of Plague Tale very well. I'm so…
