Top 3 in the genre. Very sad that this game isnt more popular and hasnt received further DLC/updates, even if the existing content is massive. It might even be better than TBOI. The only real negative is the slow start that might throw people off.

This is truly one of the all-time great roguelikes and is criminally under-rated. I've never written a review for any game I've played but this really deserves more attention. It's got obvious inspirations from Isaac, Gungeon and Hades and is packed full with an insane number of different systems to strengthen or change-up your runs. It's got the magic of Isaac where every once in a while you just luck into an …

If you're buying this game in the big 2026, make sure to switch to the beta, you can still get everything from before but it has a lot of tweaks that improve the overall gameplay. Very peak action roguelike. Leans very hard into a risk/reward type of gameplay, as your health is also your currency. Beautiful art and music. Very respectful of your time with snappy transitions that keep you playing the game as much as …

This is one of my favorite indie rogue lites and I don't understand why it's not bigger. I don't think it's the type of game that will be universally loved. But that has more to do with the genre than the execution of this game. The atmosphere is great. The gameplay feels great. The constant drip-feed of unlocks is super fun. The challenge is there but not insurmountable. The sense of discovery is awesome. I own …
Summarised from 34 of the 251 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 11, 2026. How summaries are made
73% of the 180 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Revita. The complaint that keeps coming up: slow start may deter some players. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Revita received positive reviews on Metacritic. Push Square praised the amount of unlockable content, music, art, and gameplay. TouchArcade said it is not revolutionary but is a good game. Nintendo World Report praised the art and unlockable content. However, they said Revita provides little direction in the early game, and they found the system of trading health for bonuses stifling.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lead Developer called Charlie 1940s German, retweeted celebration of sept 10th from Caravan Sandwich team. These developers are some of the worst of humanity and their public statements represent it. Take your money elsewhere. Separately, the game is derivative and boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Revita is a wrap! Took 20 hours to beat (got the bad ending 😈). This game was incredible, oh my goodness 😭 the gameplay was a blast, it's fast-paced and brutal, but unbelievably satisfying once you get good at it! And the vibe? Immaculate 🥹 tbh this might be the best roguelite I've ever played!
positive · AI labelView post →Developer is leftist scum that thinks the murder of Charlie Kirk is funny, do not give them your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know the boss fight is getting intense when you start screaming "LOCK IN!" repeatedly lmao I instantly started yelling "I MADE IT HAPPEN!" after beating the boss, I was tripping hardcore 🤣 Game: Revita by BenStar (Nintendo Switch version)
positive · AI labelView post →Revita! 15 hours in! ngl this game goes from difficult to straight diabolical lmao it gets crazy on the laters floors! It becomes a true test of skill, and it also made me realize how good the controls are! The controls are tight and feel great, you can pull off the maneuvers you need to accurately!
positive · AI labelView post →I finally beat the boss that was giving me a hard time! It took like 6 tries and I sure didn't make it look clean lmao I made it happen tho, and I wasn't even in peak form cuz I took a day off from playing 😤 Game: Revita by BenStar (Nintendo Switch version)
positive · AI labelView post →Happy Flan(nel) Friday! ngl the vibes in the games I've been playing recently have been immaculate 🥹 some of my favorites have been Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Born of Bread and Revita, the vibes in those games are amazing! I hope your day is filled with joyful vibes, I send love and positivity your way 💛☺️
positive · AI labelView post →The vibe in Revita is just something so special 🥹 tbh it just makes me have such intense emotions, I haven't played a game that's made me feel this way in so long! I sat in this area for so long just soaking in everything, it's so beautiful! The vibe really creates a feeling that's so incredible 😭
positive · AI labelView post →ngl it's funny how this game started out like "yea, we have some bullet hell elements" to straight up "we want you dead" lmao they do not play when you start getting to the higher floors! Still didn't take a hit tho, hehehe 😎 Game: Revita by BenStar (Nintendo Switch version)
positive · AI labelView post →Revita! 11 hours in! ngl I've really been appreciating all the lil details that are in this game! Everything from the graphics having cool details in the reflections and lighting, to gameplay elements like bullets affecting character movement, there's so many cool lil details that really add up!
positive · AI labelView post →Revita! 7 hours in! After getting a bit deeper into this game, I can say that this game nails the fun of build experimentation! A lot of the fun in roguelites is experimenting with builds to see what works, and there's a good variety of potential builds in this game! It's been fun to test em out!
positive · AI labelView post →Sadly, the lead developer has compared Charlie Kirk to 1940s fascists and amplified posts celebrating his assassination on Sept. 10th. That kind of rhetoric is disturbing, divisive, and unprofessional. Whatever your views, cheering death crosses a line. I can’t support a game whose creator uses their platform this way.

neutral · AI labelView post →ngl I talk about this a lot, but playing Touhou in high school really paid dividends lmao you're gonna have to try a bit harder than that to catch me slipping 😤 Game: Revita by BenStar (Nintendo Switch version)
positive · AI labelView post →ngl as awesome as it is to have an amazing run in a roguelite, it's also painful asl to lose it 😭 this boss is an absolute menace! I've gotten to it 4 times now and have gotten beaten down every time, it doesn't play around! Game: Revita by BenStar (Nintendo Switch version)
positive · AI labelView post →As far as I'm concerned, that's a spider and it's trying to ruin my run 😭 Game: Revita by BenStar (Nintendo Switch version)
positive · AI labelView post →In terms of the vibe of Revita, my first impressions are: woah 😳 this game makes me FEEL! Graphically, it's a beautiful game, and the OST? Oh my goodness, it makes me feel a way I haven't felt in a long time 🥹 the vibe this game creates is making for such a unique and emotional experience!
positive · AI labelView post →the good Good gameplay. I love how this game handles Curses. You can realistically collect however many Curses you want and you can outplay all of them, they only restrict you in very specific, easily circumventable ways. Except for "longer dash cooldown", very inadvisable curse. One specific boss has an attack where you need to dash 3 times (4 in corruption) and longer dash cooldown makes you have to take one of the hits. Nice fishing minigame. the bad Why is there a fishing minigame??…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Revita has an awesome amount of accessibility settings! A lot of gameplay elements can be tweaked to make the game easier, and a lot of visuals elements can be adjusted as well! It's really nice to see the devs put in this much effort to make the game playable for as many people as possible 🥹
positive · AI labelView post →Revita! 4 hours in! ngl this game has totally caught me off guard, it's awesome! The gameplay loop is pretty addictive, it's challenging and fast-paced, it nails the "one more run" hook of roguelites! And the vibe of this game is next level, it's taking me places and I love it 🥹 it's amazing rn!
positive · AI labelView post →The dev is a pretty bad human being. And as for the actual game: The game itself is not bad, but it just doesn't compare to other roughlikes from that same time like Neon Abyss and doesn't offer anything new or exciting. The enemy and boss variety is not great either. I would suggest maybe buying on sale, but I don't like to support people who celebrate murder, regardless of political views
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In terms of the gameplay for Revita, my first impressions are: it's pretty cool! This is a floor-based twin-stick roguelite that is challenging! The currency used in this game is your HP (which can be gained back), which implements a risk-reward factor to the game! I'm interested to keep going!
positive · AI labelView post →Next game is Revita! ngl I know nothing about this game lmao I looked at the cover and went "that's so cool :o" and bought it 🤣 I haven't even looked at the back to get an idea of what it's like! The only detail that I'm confident in is that it's a roguelite, and that's it, so I'm jumping in blind!
neutral · AI labelView post →Finally getting back to normal with posting schedules! This week is filled with Indies (NanoApostle & Cally's Caves 4), Rogue-likes (Revita & Dead Estate), and a cute weird game I loved in my late teens (Little King's Story). I really can't play "normal" games. I love my weird shenanigans.
neutral · AI labelView post →If there is one thing I am least confident in when it comes to game design, it's gotta be creature design, god that shit is so difficult. I was already struggling at that during Revita a ton 😂
neutral · AI labelView post →Developer Promised updates more than a year ago, still nothing, can't recommend.

Sonic was playing guitar and I wanted to do that as well 😂 In my teens, Mario Paint Composer accidentally taught me how to arrange and later compose music. Having written an entire 57-track OST for a video game (Revita!) is a big achieved life goal

neutral · AI labelView post →Tonight I hosted my first #Twitch stream! We played #Revita on shard 11 and got carried by an early game Rainbow. I was really nervous to be on camera, but it ended up being a lot of fun. I think I'd like to try it again next week. ♥ #lgbt #trans #videoGames

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must say it saddens me that this game never got the proper attention and love that it should have got. I will always put this as one of the greatest roguelikes in my list. Hope someday we see BenStar come back if not for updating this game...maybe something new with some of the greatness that Revita had.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Four games I've worked on Ley Lines: OST composition Epic Battle Fantasy 5: arrangement + session vocals for one track Revita: session vocals Dawngrown: voice acting
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm trying to like this game so badly but I just can't. Revita is one of the many games I binged daily in 2023-24, yet there are some horrible design choices. 1. Claustrophobic rooms, in some cases in later game they open up so much that enemies that are flying; you won't be able to reach them with specific weapons (even with wall jumping being a thing), especially with BOSSES, they are so enclosed and trapped, it genuinely feels like I don't have room to breathe (I get that, it's a HARD game,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Please note I played over 100 hours on switch) Revita is a sleeper hit and when it does hit its hitting at the peak of the genre. The game's scope seems a little small, a little simple at first, but stick with it because this one really blossoms. As many unlocks as you could want, beautiful and fun synergies on par with tboi, and tight honest gameplay. If you are a fan of the genre, Revita deserves your time. No issues on the steam deck despite the compatibility stating unsupported, works…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has thoughtful & interesting mechanics, a wonderful and extremely re-playable game play loop, a very compelling story, beautiful themes, artistic direction & music composition. Cannot say enough good things about Revita. Such a great game for roguelike and roguelite fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is poorly designed for gamepad play. If you enjoy playing platformers using the keyboard and mouse, this won't be an issue for you. I do not, however.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Once you play an indie games horrendous ice world, you will never stop wanting to beat Mario McNintendo to death with your bare hands for coming up with the idea of plat former ice physics. Even without the ice world, the game felt like a total nothing burger. all there was is health/dmg upgrades. no weapon choices or changes. Most unique things i found where a portal that spawns the bullets at your cursor, and homing, that, even when at max level, barely even works. Just get Neon Abyss or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game definitely won't be for everyone due to its massive emphasis on risk-reward gameplay but it's incredibly well designed! I'd recommend playing this on the community beta version as it refines a lot of mechanics and makes the general experience a lot more smooth.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very dissapointing... Great art-style and music , but the gameplay is just bad. In this game you either have the most boring run ever with no damage ( bosses are health sponges ) or you just "snow-ball" trough the entire run , thanks to the health mechanic. If you take any sort of damage during a run , you stop being able to buy/upgrade anything, which wasn't fun at all. ALSO , It takes a looooooong time to get to the point where you feel like roguelite meta progression kicks in and the weapons…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Revita is a roguelite with amazing gameplay wasted in a poorly designed game that failed to keep me interested for more than a few runs. I cleared a few times on earlier difficulties and not gonna lie, the gameplay is extremely tight but it's wasted in insanely claustrophobic rooms and the short bullet range does NOT help this case. Run variety is extremely poor and guns don't feel different enough for it to be an exciting feature. The worst feature is "trading health for loot" which is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dunno, I’m just not all that impressed. Rooms are claustrophobic, the combat isn’t all that interesting/exciting other than a couple bosses, the movement feels weird and floaty, the items/synergies aren’t all that exciting, and the visual clarity can be pretty bad at times. Things will be in the foreground that will block sight of enemy bullets, and some enemies don’t really have a “tell” for when they’re about to jump on you or attack. I got to shard 2 and it didn’t seem like the difficulty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The irony of Revita, a game about dealing with grief regarding death in various ways, some of which destructive, getting a bunch of negative reviews and probably tons more, cause I said...
negative · AI labelView post →To tell the truth, the game's core gameplay concept of "your health is your only currency/way to power up, so don't get hit" really didn't feel good to me. every hit I took felt so demoralizing and eventually I stopped wanting to play cause that demoralization overtook the happiness from getting through.
