I have a hard time recommending this game. While I will admit that the graphics are cute and the fundamental game play can be very fun, I can only admit that is the case for the first few hours. Let me preface any negatives with the understanding that the creators of this game clearly had love for it, that much is certainly clear, they made a game that they liked. However, it feels like they completely gave up on it …

It's a logistics and production game that doesn't seem to consider either logistics or production. Road and rail transport are impossible, mainly because the game has mechanics of traffic and road interaction but no tool to handle them properly (no traffic lights, signs, etc.) and rail is a nightmare. Good luck organizing an industrial complex without going mad. In a few words is a great, but unfinished game.

While some people have negative things to say about this game, I would honestly have to disagree. I understand where they are coming from, but I truly believe that most of the "cons" about the game can be mitigated with a little more playing time and tinkering from the players end. If you've read the recent reviews and are questioning whether or not to buy Rise of Industry, here's what you need to know: Raw business …

🎮 Difficulty Curve: Easy to get into, and super satisfying if you love optimizing logistics. But once you get deep into the game… well, let’s just say motivation starts running out. 🔄 Replayability: Great for restarts, not so much for long-term play. Once you unlock enough tech and expand, there’s not much to keep you hooked—it starts feeling repetitive. 🚛 Strength of the Game: Logistics simulation is where this …

Rise of Industry may look like a light and accessible management game at first glance, but beneath that friendly exterior lies a surprisingly deep and demanding economic system. Visually, the game is quite pleasant, even if it doesn’t really innovate in terms of graphics. It does its job well and fits the industrial theme nicely. What the game does particularly well is misleading you—in a good way. It gives the …

Critics, per Wikipedia
Rock Paper Shotgun said that Rise of Industry's early access release was "full of neat ideas" but that "they might wait until further updates to play again". PC Gamer called it a "fairly deep sim", although they thought that the lack of flexibility in the game "could put people off". Hardcore Gamer, on the other hand, praised Dapper Penguin Studios for "their total openness to their community" and "great willingness to listen to player feedback", stating, "this is exactly how an Early Access release should be handled".

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alex - The real developer got basically scammed with bad contract from publisher and eventually had to sell the IP for pennies. Also, the game is just boring and mediocre, so can't recommend in any level.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kasedo, the publishers of this game are **** people. They screwed the developers so hard.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After over five hours of play, I honestly don't like this game. I think it's because the game mechanics seem wonky to me. The game doesn't actually offer realistic market or entrepreneurial dynamics. You're basically just building production buildings that are contingent on other production buildings and then dealing with production and delivery bottlenecks. Advancement seemed to take a long time, and I quit the game once it lost its appeal and became boring to me. If you like it better than I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love resource management base/city building games. This is an example of a bad resource management base/city building game. Also I'm pretty sure dev had to abandon it.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is buggy, vary unoptimized also to managing the trains in mid to late game is horrible due to the lack of granularity on how to manage items for the logistics of the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I completed the game once and it was ok, but there are many frustrations with the game. I'm kind of neutral about it. I like growing settlements in trading games, but I like them to be a simplified realistic simulation, not arbitrary custom rules for the sake of game mechanics. There is a growth mechanic in this game, but it's weird and unsatisfying. You need to supply the city with certain materials (I think for free, or PAY THEM instead) when it reaches a "growth threshold". It will spawn…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay so it's a blend Factorio: crafting / tech tree Workers and resources: loans / management / railways Very simple but then also gets complicated very quickly. Nails in the coffin: 1. Instead of updating cool existing gameplay adding craft new mechanics etc they came up with an ugly completely unnecessary 2130 mod, who asked? Ofcourse dlc sells that's why. I can see this game being alive and kicking if all that effort was put into the main game instead. 2. Pretty but unusable UI. I am…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although most of the game is OK as a management sim, trains/rails are just broken and require way too much time to debug making the game a time waste when other games seem to have solved making trains work on rails for decades. Since using trains is a critical part of the game I'm not sure why anyone would want to subject themselves to the frustration of pathing issues with zero feedback on what the poorly crafted system is "confused" about. Regardless of excuses of things "confusing" the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The industry part is fine, but the roads and rails in the game are terrible. Bridges and tunnels are so limited - can't build next to a station, can't have a bridge/tunnel over another, can't build diagonal ones. Railroad switches are nightmare - can't build them off a diagonal railroad, and the graphic rendering doesn't match their behavior at all. Train routing is often questionable as well. I never expected the transport part to be as good as Transport Fever series, but it's still so much…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the world where Tropicos, Anno's, OpenTTD, City Skylines exists this one didn't manage to grab attention and after forcing myself to give it a chance, it is a pass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game as I feel it was on the cusp of hitting the jackpot in a niche industry / transportation game with a quirky style. Unfortunately it didn't. The start of the game is ok, although you will probably be floundering for a bit as the industry the tutorial recommends you start with isn't actually that good. The game is a combination of building industries, transporting goods and selling them to various locations. Generally the key thing with these sorts of games is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very frustrating, mostly due to the UI. It's extremely difficult to figure out how profitable a given product, facility or route is, which obviously makes the game far harder than it needs to be while also making the entire experience more annoying than it should be. It also makes just learning the game needlessly difficult because you cannot get clear feedback about whether you have made a good or bad investment, let alone why that investment might be good or bad. If you can get past this hump…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tries to be an OpenTTD also-ran but does many things worse: - Bad performance -- Random lags and stuttering and I barely have any infrastructure. Computer sounds like it's about to take off and fly around the room. - Bugs especially when building railroads. - Limit on number of buildings (!) - Unbalanced money-hemorrhaging - Lack of explanation -- I got stuck in the tutorial and had to google the answer. Tutorials are supposed to explain what to do. - Nonsensical tech tree -- Why do I have to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finicky logistics routes, a slow start and a lack of interesting scenarios make this overall too frustrating to be satisfying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game in small doses. I probably play it for a few hours every now and again. Its good but not exceptional. If you can get it on sale then great, try it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorry but I cannot recommend this game. I have owned it for a long time (years) but on my previous computer it lagggged so I did not get to play it. Finally I bought a new computer recently and tried the game again. First I tried the tutorial map and that was fine. No issues. Then I tried Career mode and thats where the issues started. I tried to play a couple of games and each time I was using the guided help that tells you what should be doing. The guide suggests that you pick a town…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For some reason, the warehouses refuse to send deliveries out. This is despite having enough resources and the shop's request being unsatisfied.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I encountered a bug 10 minutes into the tutorial that's preventing me from progressing the game lmfao.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts slow then just gets tedious. I kept playing and realized I was just doing the same thing, solving every problem with the same solution. The interface is also way too complicated for a game that is this mechanically simple. Everything else is wrapped in a nice coat of paint, but the meat just isn't there. If you want an engaging logistics challenge, play something else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I wanted to like this, my ability to fall in love was hampered by the lack of user controls and analytics tools needed to raise my industry to late game. When I not only have to figure out ratios, but work them out completely out of game because of a lack of clear UX design, the game ticks over from intellectually challenging to simply tedious. (More work than fun.) Also, thank you for advertising/broadcasting announcements for things unrelated to Rise of Industry-- that's always a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was released in 2019, the only reason you are reading this 5 or more years later is to judge whether it's worth buying because it's on sale. The short answer is no, it's not. Strip away the graphics, which I quite like, and focus on the underlying fundamentals and you find a fairly unenjoyable game. Not overly intuitive, with micro-managing tasks that are both necessary and tedious and mix that with an overall feeling of you growing your town because you can not because you want to.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think people leaving bad reviews due to warehouse / traffic management are being unfair. This game lets you set up to 9 different destinations for each individual node (with research), so there aren't really any problems if you enjoy micromanaging your supply chains.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got it at a 86% discount and I think it is worth that price (Normal price being almost 50 bucks of writing this), however it's usual price is far too much for what is a very basic economic simulator game. The logistics of this game especially so, it feels like it could use more tweaks and depth to them especially if you like having creativity in your logistical designs. For example roads in this game are very basic, no roundabouts or traffic lights nor customisation of any of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game breaks so often that its too much sunk cost for time. probably one of the most buggy sim games you could play, and the devs don't seem to have done much with fixing them since the same bugs i get now were the same ones i had years ago when i first played. not worth the money, and definitely not worth the wasted time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy crap the railroad track laying is terrible. It will constantly leave gaps randomly that you have to go back and fix. In a logistics game, might as well be unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Weird and buggy ui. I have no idea how to look at my loans. Trains randomly stop running
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I gave up playing after multiple attempts getting screwed over by the logistics system. There is something wrong with train pathing. I'm not sure if you did point to point it would be fine or not, but I don't want to do that. I want a more complex system where any warehouse can deliver to any other warehouse using shared tracks. But on 3 or so games, eventually an issue where my trains would be working fine, would suddenly stop for no apparent reason. One time, I loaded up the game, and a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of all similar tycoon games this game has prime aesthetic, it's quite jarring to see 1880s coalfogged London depicted so bright as long as you ignore the dead trees The game nailed the Industry part - not many can claim hundred different products to make and somewhat simple hub-and-spoke logistics with the warehouse. Now the bad part and why this is a bare 'Yes' is the transport part is legitimately awful. Rail is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless, Air is too expensive and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow, Riverine is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable game. However, challenging for new players. Borderline impossible, you will be bankrupt time after time. Boring for experienced players. The developers refuse to add multiplayer which would extend the player base and lift game in so many ways. However, as it stands a single player game the AIs give no competition, are bugged and are boring. Theyre isnt enough scenarios or mods on the workshop to make single player interesting even with competitive AI. I would still recommend if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really great Transport-Tycoon-Style game. The controls are nice and clean, the graphics are nice, it runs more than well enough on my decade old rig, and the gameplay has fun depth without feeling too cluttered. Tip, don't worry about trying to do it all, try to specialize into a specific handful of industries on your first play through, and set the dispatch and/or upkeep costs to 50% in the difficulty so you don't feel too worried about perfecting your efficiency as you learn everything.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The tutorial is so poorly made, I cannot figure out how to do basic things. Very layered and obscure interface. For example tutorial says "sell goods" That's it. No instructions where to go in menu or what to click to do so. Useless. I have wasted hours just in the tutorial. Bad design.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spiritual successor to the cult classic Industry Giant 2, this game fills a niche that's been lying empty FAR too long. It's got nice graphics and the gameplay mechanics are complex and comfortable. This game deserves support! negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although I do not Like to make "bad" reviews and Steam does not allow a "meh" rating, I can't recommend this game. Coming from playing Industry Giant 2, I decided to try a more modern approach to a "Tycoon" game. Although the game has some interesting mechanics and visuais, it lacks in other areas like some unintuitive (in my opinion) UI and the difficulty to see the important info about the budget. Most of the time I found myself guessing about what I should do instead of making sound…

The trees are literal triangles & my GPU is maxed out. - lowest settings - smallest map - dropped res to 720p can't imagine its fun in late game when there's a lot more stuff to render.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Rise of Industry" is my go-to game for strategy and management fun. I can play it for hours without getting bored. I like how it makes me think and plan my moves. Even though sometimes I wish there were more things to do, overall it's a great game. It keeps me hooked and wanting to come back for more. If you enjoy games that make you think and keep you entertained, ROI is definitely worth checking out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a great minimalist factory builder. Beautiful style, polished interactions, but ultimately it just runs out of things to do. It doesn’t help that the “campaign” is what I would usually consider a sandbox mode, while the actual “sandbox” is just the same thing but with infinite money and everything unlocked.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice addition to the genre, but one that didn't really click with me. I'm something of a fan of management/logistics/simulation games, so this one should be right up my alley. I love the simple and elegant background music and art design to match. The logistics systems in this game are certainly thorough and somewhat challenging (at least to me.) But for some reason, I found me forcing myself to keep pushing to the final product. Maybe it was that building new production lines and routes was…
