What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 195 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (11,222 of 13,566 positive).
Many players praise it as a worthy successor to Road Rash, capturing the nostalgic feel. [1][2][3] Some reviewers highlight the fun, addictive gameplay and local co-op, especially with dual monitors. [4][5][6] Several players note bugs, repetitive content, and slow progression as drawbacks. [7][8][9]

Look, I love playing this game. It's an absolute blast, despite its flaws... But I cannot rightly recommend it due to it never saving progress. Absolute fundamental game design, broken. That's 20 hours of campaign progress, across 4-5 attempts, LOST. To have all that time count for absolutely nothing is rage inducing. That it's still an issue in 2026 is flat out embarrassing. Fix your damn game.

Road Redemption: Road Rash for the Old Gamer Soul If your childhood was defined by the high-pitched whine of a 50-pound CRT monitor and the ritual of blowing into Sega cartridges until you were lightheaded, Road Redemption is going to feel like a warm, violent hug. It’s the spiritual successor to Road Rash we’ve been waiting for since even we don't realise, and it manages to capture that "dangerously fast and …

Road Redemption isn't deep, it doesn't have a compelling story and asides from the player character, all notable NPCs are named %gang% leader and the main antagonist is just named the assassin. But that's not why anyone plays Road Redemption, Road Redemption is just a fun dopamine generator. As some other reviewer put it, it's like a mash up of Mario Kart and Mad Max. The core game play loop is simple, you drive …

Had a lot of fun with this until I didn't. It scratched that old Road Rash itch, and the combat on the bikes is really fun. Played it for hours, beating the game several times. After a while it just gets old because of how terribly repetitive it is. The levels are just a couple of tracks over and over again. Not sure if I'll ever play it again but I had enough fun with what I did play to recommend it!

**Top 5 local co-op games of all time.** Even has co-op runs/"campaign". Genuinely unexpected out of such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ looking game. It is a bit janky, but damn, no game like it: FPS shooting while on a motorcycle drifting or in nitro + roguelike runs + co-op teamwork. Tracks are also great, with shortcuts and some verticality. The "close call" mechanic also makes for insanely deep gameplay as you are given nitro for …

Players who liked Road Redemption talk about great nostalgia for Road Rash fans; those who didn't talk about progress-saving bug can erase campaign progress. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
In Eurogamer's Steam Early Access review of the game, Dan Whitehead praised the game despite its quirks and glitches, stating "There are a lot of problems, in other words, and the development team has a lot of balancing and polishing to do if Road Redemption is to become a genuinely satisfying and well-rounded successor to its inspiration. Yet for all of the scruffiness, rough edges and half-baked ideas, the game works brilliantly where it matters." Polygon referred to the same early build as "a crazier, deeper Road Rash" that was "as fast, crazed and violent as its obvious inspiration." The game's $40 price point for an alpha release caught criticism from some websites. According to the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mindless grindfest. Your xp disapears after each game to make progression harder so you have to grind the same stages over and over and over and over and over and over hundreds of times until you lose your mind. I can't say thisa enough it is the same thing over and over again time after time after time. Spare yourself the hours and find something else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright, the history here is I played Road Rash as a kid in the 90s with friends. I've had this game on my radar since it released, but I never pulled the trigger because I wanted to play with friends. Now, my son is old enough to appreciate this game and it's "split screen". I figured it would be a good game for him and me to bond over. This game AUTOMATICALLY splits the screens between multiple monitors. Like what?! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, if you have a multi monitor setup and want to play with friends,…

neutral · AI labelView post →I forgot to leave a review to appreciate this game. After all this time, I just realized this simple feature is actually rare in other games, multiplayer SPLITSCREEN WITH DUAL MONITORS. I think this really really deserves more appreciation, the implementation is pretty simple too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, but it sure as hell doesn't like me back. I played Road Rash as a kid, and Road Redemption is FAR less forgiving. Health damage persists through levels. Objectives are more combat-focused and mandate completion before reaching the ends of stages. Getting into a jam with riders on both sides can be incredibly punishing. Experience gains are dreadfully slow, making progression through the tree incredibly slow. The game is designed as though (a) the levels should be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun for a few hours, but the game is extremely underdeveloped. The roguelike style does not effectively distract the player from how miniscule the game is, and the state of what little content there is in Road Redemption is baffling. Very lazy progression perks and enemy design, and even more imbalanced spread of tools (why would anyone bother with the melee system when you can just blow everything up in a second with basic firearms?) There's an outline of a decent vehicular combat game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is one of the most entertaining games I have played, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, pure gameplay, gradual increase in difficulty which makes sense, and an amazing soundtrack. This is the only game my girlfriend would agree to play with me. I cannot wait for them to add more levels, guns, bikes etc.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Conclusion: Not recommended Road Redemption is often touted as the "spiritual successor" to Road Rash. But anyone familiar with the classic will be bitterly disappointed. The game doesn't fail because of the action, but because of the most basic programming and structure flaws. The biggest criticisms: No checkpoints or save points: There is absolutely no way to save progress during a run. If you quit or fail, you have to start from the beginning. No manual saving: In this day and age, the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game, indeed, requires some skills. So, if you typically have a game-related skill issue, ignore this; otherwise, frustration comes to you very frequently. It's a very good game that the younger version of me would love, but at this time, I am too old.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh, it's Road Redemption being given away. I bought this on steam a few years ago. Pretty good game, but never quite managed to capture the magic of Road Rash. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking though.
neutral · AI labelView post →Plenty of other people have expressed the same criticism over and over, and I won't do the same. I want to call out the developer team. The game IS fun, but it sadly sits on the hands of the LAZIEST developers ever. The game has been the DAMN SAME for about 7 YEARS. STILL no way to progress in the game. It's negligence of the worst kind because it would take so little to fix things. What a joke. Don't buy the game, or if you do, make sure you play under 2 hours so you can refund it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but when I went to play coop it is totally broken. Should be listed as a single player game at this point. Devs gave up.

neutral · AI labelView post →Another lousy roguelite, with minimal effort. The campaign is basically a slow grind, racing on the same few tracks. The game features very little content, and in total there are about 10 tracks. It can be enjoyable during a near miss or when you are shooting enemies, but the fun is quickly blunted when you know you have do it all over again, only this time you restart the entire campaign again but with 4% extra health. This game really could have used a scripted set of handcrafted levels and a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not even god knows why this game has this amount of positive ratings. dropped the original defining art style even after owning the IP , broken multiplayer and dropped support for it , still being advertised for it which is borderline scam, and no in depth mechanics or even stable/consistent gameplay. good job on this money grab
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completing it 100% can be tricky in some spots, but overall it doesn’t require any real tryharding. Races, brutal brawls and pure adrenaline: exactly what you’d expect from the screenshots and from a motorcycle game where you swing clubs around. On a strong discount, it’s definitely a good pastime.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun! If you liked Road Rash, and also don't mind the roguelite grind, (which, if you grew up with Road Rash, you're used to losing all progress when you die anyway.) This is a fast, fun frenzy of metal, asphalt, blood and bone all soaked in gasoline and shot from a cannon. Soundtrack is a upbeat, driving metal and electronic that definitely moves the gas pedal on its own. Lots of replayability: lots of characters with different stats and different bikes to unlock. Run the story-driven…

neutral · AI labelView post →I was looking for my new Steam Deck only game per my pre work routine (or between meetings to vent off) and I found Road Redemption in my library, which reminds me of an old PS (not sure about this) game called Road Rush. neutral · AI labelView post →I was hoping to play this game with my brother since we loved playing Downhill Domination on the PS2 years ago. But it seems the devs are just as brain damaged as the ones who made Elden Ring. HOW difficult is it to implement co-op? Its not like multiplayer/co-op has been around since the damn '80's. No, instead they put a "remote play" alternative that requires the second player to be sitting right ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ next to you(I'm not doing Parsec). Again, HOW difficult would it have been to just..…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have enjoyed playing this game on the couch with my son more than any other game in my extensive library. Many hours on record (more than it says here). Can't recommend enough. Only wish you could do wheelies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun for what it is. Very reminiscent of Road Rash. Really dropped the ball on not having a chain as a weapon. The leveling up/xp system is kind of stupid, and the game can turn into a real grind quickly because of it. Get it if it's on sale. Wouldn't recommend it at full price.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommanded. This is a bit hard to win and boring when your bike and rider are weak at the beginning especially if you treat it as a racing game. However, it will soon become interesting once you get familiar with the rule and the control. As you advancing, you will get new bike, new rider, and base advantages to get things excited. The game mode and map of each stage are random that keeps the challenge on even after you play many times. In addition, the racing game simulation real-life…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved Road Rash and now that Road Redemption exists, it's my favorite racing game. The nostalgia of Road Rash but the graphics of today makes it a huge winner in by book.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Road Redemption was a modern version of road rash, but these games won't have the art and soundtrack that made Road Rash great.
negative · AI labelView post →loved this game on sega back in the day, always wished theyd make a modern version, was very happy when i saw this and started playing it love the game

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get this game on sale. Unfortunately, it has a rather infuriating bug that hasn't been fixed after years of release, and it involves a core gameplay mechanic; turbo. Double pressing the gas is supposed to activate a controlled turbo boost, but VERY FREQUENTLY, it just doesn't work, causing lot's of unfair punishment and frustration. Way too many times have I found myself surrounded by enemies, being pummeled to death by them simply because my boost refused to activate. This bug especially likes…

negative · AI labelView post →This game is a love letter to the old Road Rash series of games. Single player and Split screen multiplayer both work excellently. The leaderboards and such have been turned off and I haven't had any success with online multiplayer. That would normally push me away from playing a title. In this case it doesn't matter nearly as much. The 3 single player campaign variations and endless mode are where this game shines. The skill progression tree is very well done. I have completed this game, reset…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun, but unforgiving and often throwing you back to the start of the game if you fail too many times, which is easily done. That said, it's a short campaign you can finish in one playthrough. If you, like me, found this through being a fan of the Road Rash games from the 90s, you'll enjoy this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really not what I expected. I was a big fan of Road Rash and the Road Rash 3D. I thought there would be set tracks and a campaign like RR3D, but this is just a roguelite and with very generic track generation. The driving is just bad. There aren't even proper races, all you are doing is trying to kill other riders.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want a racing game with chaos to pass time, this might be a fun addition to your library. This game pays tribute to Road Rash in what feels like an unfinished love letter. Pros: Easy to jump into the game and just have fun with combat while racing. Lots of different racers to choose from to swap up gameplay through restrictions/buffs (Santa's candy cane is OP haha). Co-op play with 4 player split screen available.
