What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 258 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Overwhelmingly Positive (23,346 of 24,501 positive).
Players widely praise the game's movement, gunplay, and polish. [1][2][3] Some note that development has ended, but still recommend it. [4][5][6] A few reviewers criticize limited build variety and co-op issues. [7][8]

Kinda liked it at first but quickly became boring. The weapon and upgrade pools aren't that big so there isn't much build variety. Many of the weapons are gimmicky which you would never actually use. The abilities also commit the usual roguelike mistake of not being too impactful and interesting. There are still some characters I haven't tried and I know those have their own upgrades but at this point I'm dreading …

This game is genuinely as close to perfect as you can get with gaming. The overwhelmingly positive reviews really don't do this game justice. The movement in this game is top tier. The shooting in this game is simply the best. Don't be put off by the roguelite elements. There is a good level variety. There are branching paths. The upgrades are all finely tuned. You can legitimately win with just about any …

This game is the king of FPS Roguelites from movement to gunplay to music to buildcrafting. Fastest paced FPS Roguelite by a MILE and after years of searching for something else to scratch this itch and potentially cover on my channel, there just isn't anything. Truly a phenomenon in the genre. As of November 28, 2025, there is still not a single FPS Roguelite that can compete with this game and it's genuinely so …

Really sad to see the development come to a stop, but I understand why. Forcing yourselves to work on something you are no longer passionate for would ultimately hurt the game. While there won't be much else concerning updates, I HIGHLY recommend picking up the game, it's loads and loads of fun. Not as replayable as other games in the roguelike genre, and the multiplayer flow is a little off, but overall the game is …

This is a wonderfully fast, frenetic and often punishing roguelike that somehow does almost everything better than the things it likely took inspiration from. It does the comic book art style way better than Borderlands ever could. The weapons are all designed really well and are lovingly animated and satisfying to shoot. The game feels impeccably balanced. Difficulties feel fair and appropriate to what they're …

60 of 465 · most liked firstAnd that's my first game of 2025 completed with Roboquest. What a gem of a game. Final boss is hard as nails, but did enough runs with enough unlocks that I got a crazy overpower build in the end. Will definitely be returning for more runs later.

positive · AI labelView post →I honestly can't wait for their roguelike spinoff to come out, it looks so damn good, I've become very interested in roguelikes as I've gotten older, they're very arcadey, very game session oriented. Synthetik, RoR, RoboQuest, Hades, to name a few. Also been doing a bit of roguelike mods for Doom

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pushing the definition but I started when it was still in beta... Minecraft has gotten hundreds and hundreds of hours put into it. Terarria and Starbound are both really good and scratch that same itch as Minecraft. Core Keeper is another one that has some of that feel and I ended up really enjoying. Surprised I haven't seen it mentioned but Cave Story was made by one guy doing everything... and everything in it is immaculate. It's still free for the original version as well. Stardew Valley…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To me this game is "ol reliable", and has been since 2020. Its the one game i always have installed on my pc. Its not my most played game, but its the game i always boot up when i have no internet or no clue what else to play. Its feature complete, satisfying, runs well, looks good, the soundtrack bangs and it always brings me an hour or two of fun. 10/10, thanks RyseUp

Literally no complaints. 10 out of 10 Here's me and my buddy beating this game on Guardian 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbbKzVQn0Vc
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a Vampire Survivors-like transformed into a just full on roguelike rgp, it's so unbelievably good. If you like fps literally at all Roboquest is one of the best games ever made and nobody knows anything about it, it's like what if a game had a very cute version of Borderlands' art and rpg weapons
positive · AI labelView post →I love this game, but please make projectile and melee weapons more viable. Hitscan is the only thing in this game that is consistent, as later into the game enemies will start dodging more and be more mobile. Even with all of the mobility options unlocked, it's hard to really play with Melee weapons as the life cells don't really drop enough health even if it gives you bonus life cells, and with projectiles the enemies get tankier and chunkier which makes hitscan the option 9.9 times out of…

positive · AI labelView post →Highly enjoyable fps roguelite. The gunplay is reminiscent of Borderlands but without the irritating characters, insufferable dialogue and dull fetch quests of later BL titles (looking at you, BL4......). It also doesn't require a monster PC to maintain fps. Nice feel to progression across runs but a decent challenge. Plenty of charm and replay value with different paths (a la starfox) and difficulty levels. Huge thumbs up from me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An incredible game that captures the artistry of game dev. Exudes charm while sporting a polish smoother than a baby's ass. Enemies and levels that pop with the colors and life of a pixar film. A depth in gameplay that 20-years of FPS history couldn't replicate. An incredible game.

neutral · AI labelView post →So, most of my recommendations are going to be FPS or first person. For Valve related stuff: - *Half-Life 2* is pretty much a must have along with Episodes 1 and 2. - *Black Mesa* is a remake of the original. - *Entropy : Zero 2* is a fantastic fan made mod that's a good follow up after finishing *Half-Life 2* and the episodes. - The original *Entropy : Zero* is pretty good, but the default difficulty is hard as hell. - *Portal 1* and *2* are also a must have - *Portal: Revolution* is an…
neutral · AI labelView post →Funny how the reviews barely mention how good the game feel is of this game. Build this, boss that, progression there yada yada. No, this game is just base-line fun to play and git gud at mechanically. As far as I'm concerned, progression is just a way to keep left-brain happy while right-brain games, and this game has it in spades. Very pleasant environment, good sound effects. The charaacters, story and music are weak but easiily ignorable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think about this game every so often and I'm sad that it's done and over with, but I do think that in the realm of cooperative roguelite shooters this one feels the most...boomer to me. Sometimes I want to dive in and get greasy and covered in my foes slippery internal juices - sometimes I want to just play sniper or something. The level design lets build freedom run wild (though I will admit that my best runs have always been mosh pit bruiser builds). Either way I got a lot of playtime out…

While it doesn't reinvent the wheel with its gameplay, the core loop is incredibly satisfying. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game and Roboquest are two of my favorite roguelikes! They both have a different feel when using the weapons, but both are incredibly satisfying! The progression and unlocks feel rewarding, the coop is fun (only played them with friends, so idk how online‐strangers coop is), and I enjoy how the difficulty scales. Love the weapon, perk, and build variety!!

positive · AI labelView post →This game is amazing on keyboard and controller I've beaten all the main difficulties and played online coop (strictly two player online), but I haven't pressed far into the endless mode. The flow on keyboard mouse is amazing! Movement is fluid, the level design and enemies push you to play aggressively, although slower playstyles are somewhat available. You end up developing good spatial awareness to manage your position in the arena to ensure you don't get stuck on corners and get hammered.…

neutral · AI labelView post →Best of it's genre by far. Very fast paced, great weapon and skill variety with lots of things to unlock. Enemies all have predictable attacks and reward knowledge and skill. It's a really satisfying game to play, highly recommend. Movement and shooting feels good, light but not floaty. I come back to this game regularly because of how locked in you can feel while zooming around.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible full game experience. In a world of half baked early access slop, this game is fun, complete and just downright awesome! Super easy to sink time, sessions last 20-40 minutes and it can be played 2-player coop with a friend. Oh and the soundtrack goes HARD! Easy recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great FPS roguelike/lite. The characters are all distinct, guns feel good, upgrades are meaningful, movement is fun. Beautiful art and music. The best thing I can compare it to is Gunfire Reborn, which Roboquest falls just a little short of, but I still really enjoyed my time with it. Note: I only ever played singleplayer, so this review is based on that. Apparently multiplayer is having problems, but I did not try it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Roboquest VR Review: An Instant Classic. VR is no stranger to flatscreen conversions, and Flat2VR Studios quickly made a name for itself doing exactly that. Roboquest VR is the latest example, taking RyseUp Studios' 2023 roguelite FPS and thoroughly overhauling it. You control a Guardian robot taking down waves of hostile enemy machines, blazing a path for your human companion Max towards Haven 8 - an oasis in the desert that makes up most of this post-apocalyptic Earth. neutral · AI labelView post →This is a pretty decent roguelike with a good ost and shooting gameplay. It is quite easy to master this game and get creative with upgrades and build a decent run right after a few runs. The classes are actually interesting to play since the builds vary from one another by a lot. Sadly enough I haven't tried the co-op that the game offers, but I guarantee it must pretty fun too. There is a few downsides for this game, the first is that the game offers too little content, despite having a…
