What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 191 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (2,880 of 3,236 positive).
Players praise the game's beautiful art, atmosphere, and Nordic folklore themes. [1][2][3] Many find the puzzles clever and logical, though some become confusing or tedious. [1][4][5] Common complaints include unskippable animations, slow pacing, and a poor save system. [6][7][8]

❌ ❌ ❌ Boring dialogues, uninteresting storyline, lots of backtracking, unbelievably slow animations. Unskippable dialogues are annoying. Please let me skip the 100 million years of skits and animations! Or let me fast-forward dang it! I find myself pressing the button every few seconds. So irritating that I wanna throw my keyboard across the room. Some of the puzzles were just dumb. e.g. the spider boss, you install …

The whole game is a puzzle adventure where you explore, collect items, and try to figure out how things connect. At the beginning, it feels easy and simple, but later the puzzles get harder and make you stop and think. Sometimes I got stuck and kept walking around like, “What am I missing?” 😅 There were also times when I already had the right item but didn’t know where to use it. Some puzzles are fun and logical, …

I didn’t know much about Nordic folklore going in, but I really enjoyed this game. The puzzles are clever without being too difficult. It’s a warm, relaxing experience, and the atmosphere is incredibly cozy. The art is absolutely beautiful.

An emotional tale wrapped in Scandinavian folklore. I didn’t expect too much from this little adventure game, but I was pleasantly surprised. The childish art style took me a bit of time to enjoy. It’s not the most amazing, but it does make the experience feel less bleak considering the rather sad story being told. Speaking of the story, it is clearly the most important part of the game. Nonetheless, there is plenty …

TRULY a hidden gem. Everything is great; despite the cute looks, it has drama mixed into the story. The puzzles are great, not too hard and not too easy, especially the puzzles inside the castle, and not to mention the great soundtracks.

Critics, per Wikipedia
Röki received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Fellow review aggregator OpenCritic assessed that the game received strong approval, being recommended by 78% of critics. Tola Onanuga of The Guardian calls the game an "impressively rich point-and-click adventure game". She finds some of the puzzles challenging, but when she took time to survey her surroundings - generally fairly easy. She also likes the game's "striking cel-shaded design". However, she scores the game 3 out of 5 stars. Pascal Tekaia of Adventure Gamers writes that the cast of characters is impressive. He praises the dialog and voice acting, even though each line of subtitled dialog is…

neutral · AI labelView post →Sights & Sounds Nightmare fuel With the dark fairytale story and aesthetics, it would be reasonable to assume that monster design is one of the most frightening things in Röki. Not so. In fact, if you want to see that, all you actually need to do is look up some screenshots or promotional art featuring the protagonist, Tove, or her little brother, Lars, and zoom in on their faces I'm unsure if it's the sunken-looking eyes, the unexpectedly detailed mouths and teeth, the heavy shadows on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an absolute slog. The story is cool and it's visually pleasing but it was just tedious to get through. Look, I expect backtracking in point-and-click games but while the puzzles were generally straightforward some of them were horribly designed where even if you get the solution on the first try you have to suffer through several ultra slow animations of climbing up and down, placing / removing items and repetitive dialog. I think there's like 4 hours of content in this game, which…

positive · AI labelView post →The biggest problem is that the priority is story telling and not the gameplay, so it happens a lot that it's not fun playing it. Some parts are even boring and annoying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty cool game with reasonably logical usage of collected items. Plays more like an action point & click than a tradition P&C game or straight action game. Visually really nice, and lore and story are great, though the lack of dedicated voice acting for the poignant story moments ruins the immersion. I think I might have been more emotionally invested otherwise. Biggest gripe however is that there is no chapter select or manual save option, which dissuades 100% achievement hunting. If you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did like the charm, aesthetic, and folklore of this game. But I am somewhere near the end of Act 2 and I'm not sure if I'll be going back to finish the game. Some of my only critisism (and the reason I stopped) is that there are animations for everything and dialog and you cannot skip any of it. This is normally fine for a story game but when the gameplay involves solving puzzles and they might require some trial-and-error to figure out how the puzzles work and for the solution itself. For…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fitting artstyle, great soundtrack, difficulty that is right on the spot. The story is very touching even if simple enough to understand. Couldn't ask for anything else. Only bummer is the save system which makes getting all achievements way harder than what it should be.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring. It is a beatifully made kind-of-point-n-click puzzle game, and the story seems to be promising. But all the animations, dialogues, etc are made so slow and unskippable (at least immediately)... Controls are also weird, I think just having a full-on mouse control with visible cursor and a click-to-move navigation would be already so much better. As it is now, I feel so bored I just cannot.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#PlatinumTrophy number 56. #Röki was a lovely little game, but I couldn't have gotten the trophies on my own. Much to find, combine and use in certain ways. #PS5 #PS4 #Playstation
positive · AI labelView post →This is a thoughtfully designed point and click adventure, with engaging puzzles that nicely fit the Scandinavian mythos and monsters used. There's shortcuts to places you'll be travelling regularly, and items make sense in how you're supposed to use them. I did, however, find that 3 times there were very small items that were important to continue that I just didn't see. The story is both fun but melancholic in places, with a bittersweet but happy ending. Between the art and the story, it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is definitely an experience. The whole story is very emotional and despite the cute characters and fun puzzles the whole vibe is pretty gloomy and oppressive. I honestly liked playing it and didn't find boring at all, but I can totally see why it can be slow for some people. And because of it's gloomy atmosphere you won't be always in the mood to play it, which can break its flow a little bit. That's also the reason why I found one of the latest puzzles a bit too hard, had to look…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This seems to be trying to be a Point & Click adventure without mouse support. Which makes for an awful experience. Trying to drag items using keys while your right hand is laying there, useless. And so completely unnecessary. Why? The mouse is the native organ of this genre. This is like developing a drawing app without a pointer. Unplayable. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautifull game, truly unique take on the point-and-click style adventure games of the 90's/early 2000's (sans point-and-click). The atmosphere is really cool, very norse mythology vibes mixed with cute children stories, yet still a bit creepy here and there. The gameplay is pretty smooth and intuitive, although I hated the last portion in the castle, where puzzles didn't feel as intuitive, and the lore lacked a bit (for example what are those creatures, why are they there, etc)... and it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, Röki is one of the most magical games I've ever played. Played the game together with my niece (8 years old). You learn about family values and the value of courage and confidence. What makes it even better is that the protagonist is a young girl searching for her brother. The game offers a great story and a beautiful although sometimes very melancholic and almost depressing atmosphere. The game elements such as the riddles are also great. So if you have a child (age 6…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was already finding the gameplay a slog, but I was invested enough to want to see the end of the story, so I was grinding through. Then I hit a bug that made progress impossible. I could restart the whole chapter (which has been the majority of the game I've played so far) and repeat a whole slog of running back and forth and solving boring puzzles, but I just don't care enough. Plus, there's no gaurantee that the same error wouldn't happen again when I got back to this point in the story. A…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun point and click with a cool art direction and interesting aesthetic. Overall it's decently fair, but there are a couple sections that either break it's logical conventions (for example, one "puzzle" requires you talk to an NPC, instead of use an item on something like every other puzzle in the game) or just devolve into straight pixel hunts (the wolf dream sequence is the absolute worst at this). This makes parts of the game into just clicking on literally everything to see what happens,…
