BUY THIS GAME ON STEAM KEY SITES/PIRATE IT! for anyone who isn't yet aware, the publishers of this game (2K) laid off everyone who developed this game. Do not buy this game, as buying it will support 2K instead of the hard work actually put into it. Gameplaywise, this game is really great thought. The bullet time is super cool, and the tricks are just as awesome. It you like DOOM: Eternal, You'll probably enjoy this …

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Rollerdrome is fantastic! That said your money is only going to the publisher not a single developer will receive a cent from your purchase as they were laid off after creating an absolute masterpiece. Even the developers have encouraged fans to acquire the game via alternative methods. Find it on a key reseller, or pirate it.

I'm conflicted: I only heard about Rollerdrome through a YouTube video essay detailing the corporate skulduggery after its release that resulted in the entire Roll7 team getting laid off (allegedly) but....this game is so unique, and difficult, and satisfying, and endlessly replayable. And that's before you get into the visuals and the music, which are the 1983est I've felt since, well, 1983. This feels like a …

This game is a must play for fans of the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater or Jet Set Radio games who also like third person shooters like Max Payne. Basically you have to clear stages by eliminating all enemies while on roller skates. You replenish ammo by doing tricks and you increase your combo multiplier by getting eliminations. On top of this you can also trigger slow motion at will. A very addictive gameplay loop. …

DON'T BUY THIS GAME. I was lucky enough to give the devs money before the publishers took over and screwed 'em over. Great game btw. Smooth trick system. Fun combat. Lovely to play if you ever find yourself plunderin' the scurvy seas.

Critics, per Wikipedia
According to review aggregator Metacritic, Rollerdrome received "generally favorable reviews" upon release. OpenCritic determined that 78% of critics recommended the game. The game won "British Game" at the 19th British Academy Games Awards, and was nominated for "Best Indie Game" at the 2022 Golden Joystick Awards. The game exceeded one million players on March 19, 2024. Jonathon Dornbush of IGN said Rollerdrome provides a good balance between skating and shooting. He added that despite both occurring simultaneously, neither overwhelms the player because the developers made some "smart concessions" to the gameplay, noting how some weapons automatically lock on to enemies as players are…

neutral · AI labelView post →Also I know games isn’t doing too hot right now, but if you by any chance could use a concept artist, hi, I’m the Rollerdrome guy and I’d love to work on a game again 🙇♀️
neutral · AI labelView post →Oi Oi Bluesky!👋 I'm Dre, the Lead Game Designer on Rollerdrome and OlliOlli2 (among other junk) Since the unfortunate Roll7 news earlier this year I've been cooking up something new, in secret, with a couple of my pals from the Rollerdrome team. Follow me for cringe jokes and dank memes.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very fun. However after getting soaring reviews and even winning a BAFTA 2K laid off the entire studio behind it. Do not pay for this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Closing out the “she’s the Task/Ant yaoi account of Bsky” day with BAFTA winner Rollerdrome stuff, so people remember I’m actually a useful member of the creative industry (hire me for your game, I promise I’m professional and can draw good, I will also clown on socials for you as bonus)! ✌️☺️✨

neutral · AI labelView post →I'd love to design characters for *YOU* 🫵 too btw Also banners/promo material for *your* game! Rollerdrome didn't want me for that, but I am a mighty fine illustrator if I can say so! HMU 🙇♀️
neutral · AI labelView post →That is also where the BAFTA is from, because to be fair, it was ROLLERDROME that won the BAFTA. But I was concept artist on it, so it is a little bit my BAFTA too. Anyways I know the games industry is in utter shit right now, but I'd love to work on a game again someday so HMU if you need a CA! 🧡
neutral · AI labelView post →People were like: IM GONNA BUY ROLLERDROME TO SUPPORT YOU. And no you don’t. I was let go of the studio years before the game released. I got paid for my work on the game that’s it. If anything, sales might cause a sequel to be made, and then there’s still no guarantee your fav creators come back 🤷♀️

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rollerdrome (my GOTY 2022) and some other games are leaving Game Pass at the end of the month. If you haven't yet, do yourself a favour and *play Rollerdrome* - it's like if DOOM Eternal and Tony Hawk had a beautiful baby. (Read more: Eurogamer)

Hell, you don't even support the studio and the rest of the team anymore bc they closed it & fired everyone 💀

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you remember watching those violent dystopian death sports movies in the '80s and wondered, 'man, what if rollerskaters had guns?', then look no further for your answers than Rollerdrome. Starting out as a humble game jam project, Rollerdrome gathered enough steam behind it to attract a dedicated team who would, for their efforts, be rewarded and 'rewarded' by all. In the 2030s, the world is gripped by the deathly entertainment of Rollerdrome, where contestants compete against one another…

neutral · AI labelView post →Fantastic game, excellent in all it tries to do. Don't pay for it. The money will not reach the creators. Find a way to play it, but not here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hey so this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome, but im writing a negative review specifically to deter you from buying it or paying for it. everyone who worked on it was unfairly fired, so they dont see a penny of this game's success. if you wanna play it, don't pay for it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I own it because at the time I was supporting Roll7, one of my favorite indie devs of all time. Roll 7 game that deserve to be played: * Olli Olli * Olli Olli 2 * Rollerdrome * Olli Olli World (if it can be played offline)

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would sometimes comment on Rollerdrome posts on tumblr and say „thank you, glad you like the game“ or whatever, and people would get really weird and one person panic blocked me and tbh I get it. I am a hypocrite.
neutral · AI labelView post →Oh shit! I totally forgot to make a post recently about #Rollerdrome not being back on Steam yet after three months. Well, I don't need to make that post anymore! positive · AI labelView post →A game made by talented devs that were scammed by their employer so number go up. don't buy this game. you are morally obligated to get it for free. bought it on release, now its tainted by braindead corporate greed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a spectacular, nigh-perfect game. Don't buy it. The developers of this masterpiece were laid off despite creating a Bafta winning 3D action title on their FIRST TRY. Watch the Raycevick video for more information if you're interested.

neutral · AI labelView post →The game is truly brilliant. Some of the most fun I've had in recent years with games. HOWEVER, given that 2K has wrongly and royally ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over Roll7 by SHUTTING THEM DOWN (and all revenue from the game now going to 2K 🤡), I cannot in good faith recommend that you *buy* this game whatsoever, unless you do so second hand (maybe for achievements I guess)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. Don't buy it. Shortly after the game came out, 2k shutdown the studio as a part of mass layoffs despite it being a success.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the coolest games I've ever played, it's best thing since Hotline Miami. So easy to get into yet so challenging to master. Despite universal acclaim from critics and audiences alike, as well as winning a BAFTA award, every dev was laid off. I was unaware of this before purchasing on steam. Do not buy this game. Nobody whose talent went into this game will receive a single cent.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game rocks and is worth your attention, but the talented development team was promptly laid off after the game's success. I recommend playing this game by other means, but don't support the vampires at 2K.

neutral · AI labelView post →I love this. It's all the fun of Tony Hawk except you don't ever fall off your skates which is a huge plus and you get to shoot enemies while doing tricks. It's a blast! It's too bad the studio got shut down but you can torrent it. Some people say the game is too difficult but I don't think so. You have to keep doing tricks to resupply your ammo, which means you have to multi task between tricks and shooting. You can slow down time with the left trigger which makes it easier.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this Look it up for more info; Demonic corporation fired the entire studio who made this game and is now making money off that game right here right now. I got a hb choice key before I knew, do not give these vampires a single cent

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →11/10 Game. Truly one of the best movement shooters out there, nothing balances a frenetic pace, with the absolute freedom of movement like this game does. Nothing feels as nice as pulling off a sick 720 as you perfectly time your shots and dodges for maximum efficiency. The pacing of difficulty is so well thought out, each level putting to work the lessons the previous levels have introduced. And it feels so nice to fail because its just fun to play. One of my all time favorites. Oh and the…
