This will be the second season of the new Kenshin reboot. The first season of 24 episodes just ended the other day, so this announcement is not too surprising.

Topics we discussed include Donnie Yen's action style, the Japanese action film industry, the limits of previs, Chinese DTV action, and, of course, RUROUNI KENSHIN. mubi.com/en/notebook/...

neutral · AI labelView post →For all intents and purposes for me Nobuhiro Watsuki is on the Epstein list and that MFer and my favorite anime and OVA movie Rurouni Kenshin has been dead to me since 2017. Even when he passes it will be hard to appreciate all the VAs and animators that brought those stories to life again.
negative · AI labelView post →I am keeping this post very brief as I am really not feeling very well at the moment. So, here are some super brief impressions on what I watched this past week: - **Tower of God** Season 2 Finale - Even with a stronger end, a really big letdown over season 1. Unsure if I will continue if there is a season 3. - **Ameku M.D.** - OK start. Willing to continue with this one if I find time, but a low priority. - **Pom Poko** - Watched for the first time this past week while sick and it was kinda…
neutral · AI labelView post →Taking a look through the list, there are definitely some that I am excited about. I have tried to categorize them by my initial impressions. I am likely going to have to cut down the number of anime I watch next season because work is getting busier, but I will do my best! ### Definitely Watching - **Natsume's Book of Friends** - Season 7 is here and I am ready for more. If you aren't familiar with this series, it is a (mostly) chill series about Natsume, a boy that can see yokai, and a book…
neutral · AI labelView post →Rurouni Kenshin The Beginning Yeah this made me cry and is easily my favorite movie of this series
positive · AI labelView post →I was about to make my own of these, but I left it rattling around in my head for too long. **Fall 2025 only, final impressions. All spoilers! No specific order.** *To Your Eternity S3* I enjoyed the story for what it was. I think Fushi's flailing around and Mizuha's attempted redemption (while she was trying to manipulate him) was to set us up for yet another tragedy. While it was a disappointing arc, my guess is that the end is to have a resolution between Hayase's line, nokkers, and…
neutral · AI labelView post →I have hardly had a chance to watch anything this past week. Basically, the only shows I got the chance to watch are not airing this season, but I have been slowly watching together with my wife. - **Natsume's Book of Friends** Season 7 - I finished up the final couple episodes of the season this past week and they were excellent. The final two episodes of this season are frankly, two of the best episodes of the entire show. I hope we don't have to wait so long for another season again. -…
neutral · AI labelView post →A lot d the Rurouni Kenshin live action movies had really fun sword fights. The Swordsman, a k-movie, was also good. Of course, I’m judging them as a sword person myself who has trained in stage combat as well as many other modes, and you have to acknowledge that stage combat is a craft unto itself.
positive · AI labelView post →The only example I can think of off the top of my head are the live action Rurouni Kenshin movies. In my opinion, they are excellent and the best way to consume the story.
positive · AI labelView post →Rurouni Kenshin Movie 2 is pretty good! Not as good as the first since it is a pretty setup heavy movie, but I like what it introduces and the arm tug moment was really fun. Super curious to see how movie 3 ties everything together
positive · AI labelView post →My extraordinarily basic and predictable answer is GODZILLA MINUS ONE. Not just because it's a mini cast reunion of my beloved RUROUNI KENSHIN films, but mostly because it's the platonic ideal of A Scary Godzilla Movie with brilliant filmmaking and characters, and perfect music.

neutral · AI labelView post →I think the closest I've ever gotten to that was Rurouni Kenshin, at... let's see... 95 episodes. That was many years ago. A few years back, and I honestly have no idea why, I watched about 75 episodes of Fairy Tail (less than half of its run) before I burnt out on it. There's a few standard things I've watched that clock in at about 50 or 60 episodes - FMA and Brotherhood, DanMachi, SAO, Initial D and the like. The vast majority of the things I watch seem to only last one season, or…

neutral · AI labelView post →I wouldn't call myself an anime fan per se coz I've seen so few, but Rurouni Kenshin was immediately my favourite when I got the movie on vhs in 1999 or 2000, and of all the anime I've seen since, it's still my favourite. Always was a sucker for samurai shenanigans (shinsengumigans? :P)
positive · AI labelView post →If you like him, there is a movie series on Netflix, adapted from anime: Rurouni Kenshin. It's a bit wild, if you aren't used to live action anime adaptations, but he is good. There isn't much romance though.

neutral · AI labelView post →I might be partially wrong about the battle shounen. I could argue more strongly that FMAB (and DBZ Kai) set the tone for future manga-faithful remakes (Fruits Basket 2019, Rurouni Kenshin 2023, Ranma and Urusei remakes, etc.) I forgot about how SAO became the blueprint for modern isekai 😂
neutral · AI labelView post →oh man, I watched a really amazing samurai movie this spring... Takehiro Hira was in one that's spectacular (probably more than one, tbh) ... Bushido (it's really bleak - Prime) youtu.be/zmLJkVtbHW4?... I'll bet Hara-Kiri is great too. The whole Rurouni Kenshin movie series (Netflix) is great too.

neutral · AI labelView post →Dizzy Japanese Cinema Talk 11. Rurouni Kenshin (2012) A manga adaptation done exceptionally well! Satoh Takeru plays Himura Kenshin perfectly with amazing action that needs to be seen! It has heart and so much effort throughout. It's a 5-film series. The sequel is even better! 3, 4, & 5 are OK.
neutral · AI labelView post →And with the movie done with, I finally finish my run of OG Rurouni Kenshin. Good show indeed. I was such a weeb in my young teens, obsessed with samurai and just getting into anime, so when I found the VHS at MVC for £15 I grabbed it. Ending theme towa no mirai is still glorious

Director = Kenji Tanigaki (action choreographer of BLADE II; the RUROUNI KENSHIN films; TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN, which I really must see) See it with an audience if you can!
neutral · AI labelView post →RUROUNI KENSHIN: THE FINAL - 10/10 I am going to sound like a broken record here BUT THIS MOVIE WAS AMAZING! I can see why this movie had a favorite villain in it. The fighting again was amazing! OSTs were great! Great conclusion to the entire movie series. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! #RurouniKenshinTheFinal
positive · AI labelView post →SERIOUSLYYYYYYYYYYYYY but if anyone hasn't seen them, I highly recommend the Rurouni Kenshin live action films. 📽️ I do say this as never having seen the manga/anime, but those movies were FANTASTIC, especially the fight scenes, omfg.
positive · AI labelView post →My gateway to #jdramas were 1) the Rurouni Kenshin movie series (star. Takeru Satoh) feudal Japanese swordsman movies (NFLX in US) action packed, history- and Kurosawa-adjacent 2) Midnight Diner (Kaoru Kobayashi) movies and series, quiet, heartfelt, healing to watch. Great accoustic OST, too. Enjoy!
neutral · AI labelView post →Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection I was OBSESSED with Rurouni Kenshin back in the mid-to-late 90s. And as a fan who saw this movie, it actually made me cry at the end. Yeah, it’s non-canon and it diverges from the manga. But teenaged me didn’t know about that at the time. 😅
neutral · AI labelView post →The only adaptations I can think of that were 99% perfect are the Rurouni Kenshin movies, but that's a completely different film industry built around adapting manga. And those movies carry the Curse of Watsuki anyway, which is a particularly filthy burden.

neutral · AI labelView post →The weird part is that these have been forgotten. There’s no entry for them on MAL, AniDB, or ANN, save for a single review of the first film. neutral · AI labelView post →Next up is "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final". I started it last night and it looks pretty wild. I'll be sad to be finished with the film series but it has been a fun ride so far.
neutral · AI labelView post →🎞️ "Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning" is immediately in my top-10 samurai movies. The action sequences, the drama and the unexpected story all worked together like ingredients in a fine movie-making recipe. 👍 It's the fourth installment in the 5-film series but can be watched as a stand-alone movie.
