Well, I don't think it really is a bad game a lot of work was put in it, and it shows. I tried to like this game, but it has one major flaw. 95% of upgrades this game offers are just stats up, and the other 5% changes gameplay just slightly. Every run plays the same. The first few hours are pretty fun, but as a guy that likes to collect achievements I am really disappointed. Just go play Isaac, or something.

ScourgeBringer doesn’t feel like playing a game—it feels like dancing with death. Every slash, jump, and dash blends into one endless motion, a perfect rhythm of chaos and control. You don’t win by luck; you win by learning to move like the game wants you to. The combat is so fluid it’s hypnotic, the music hits harder than your blade, and when you finally clear a room without touching the ground, it feels like …

The most tight & satisfying action controls you've ever seen. The combats are tactic but incredibly intense with a big mastering progression. It becomes so satisfying to just blaze through rooms and manage enemies and projectile like it's nothing. Of course top notch art, animation, sounds & music. KAMGUSTA'S MINI REVIEW A fast action roguelite where each room must be cleared of enemies before you can enter the next. It may remind of "Dead Cells", but we are in a different (minor) league. The combat is fluid, character has great mobility and the pixel art is pretty. Nice skill tree, albeit a little too grindy. The game has some significant flaws: high difficulty (can be "fixed" in the "accessibility" options - …

ScourgeBringer feels like Celeste after drinking 5 energy drinks and choosing violence. The movement is insanely snappy, the combat is fast, and once it clicks, it’s ridiculously satisfying. If you like fast, chaotic platformers with tight movement and a roguelike loop, this one is a blast. Also, the EULA literally has a pizza recipe. Yes, an actual pizza recipe. Found a hidden treasure in my backlog.

Critics, per Wikipedia
According to review aggregator Metacritic, ScourgeBringer received "generally favorable" reviews. OpenCritic reported an average score of 81 out of 100, with 83% of critics recommending the game. Christian Donlan of Eurogamer praised the game's movement and combat, focusing on the physical sensation of attacking enemies and moving through them. He compared ScourgeBringer with action roguelites such as Hades and Dead Cells, but found that its movement gave it a distinct feel. Brendan Caldwell of Rock Paper Shotgun considered comparisons with Dead Cells less useful, describing ScourgeBringer instead as a more arcade-oriented, room-clearing action game. He praised its dashing, wall-running and…

neutral · AI labelView post →I was very excited to try ScourgeBringer initially. The detailed pixel art and vibrant color scheme seemed right up my alley, and the combat, while flashy, appeared to be moderately complex - what with the different melee moves being made available from the get-go. Finding out it was heavily inspired by Star of Providence, one of my favorite Roguelites of all time, sold me on buying the game; SoP is even mentioned in its credits, and the two communities intertwine, to a point where newcomers…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heyoooo! We're now here too! We're an indie studio based in France, making juicy and punchy 2D action games since 2013! We made ScourgeBringer and NeuroVoider, and we contributed to bunch of other projects with other studios. We're currently fulltime-busy on a new big (yet still secret) game. 👊
neutral · AI labelView post →Speaking of free, in a couple hours they're doing a triple giveaway on the Epic store. Roguelite platformer ScourgeBringer, Tactical shooter Zero Hour, and fast-paced Sakamoto-scored fantasy 4X Songs of Silence. That's a lot of game for nothing.
neutral · AI labelView post →The dazzling pixel art instantly caught my eye, and the relentless action kept my heart racing. This roguelike never gave me a moment to breathe, throwing me into an endless cycle of death and rebirth at breakneck speed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scourgebringer is one of the most underrated indie games I've ever played. I will never shut up about this game, and now it's free so you have no excuse
positive · AI labelView post →I really wanted to like and finish this game, but after playing for seven hours, I feel the negatives outweigh the positives to the point where it is more annoying than enjoyable. Like most roguelite games, this one has a dedicated currency (Blood) as well as your health, which is also treated as a resource. There is nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but the way it is implemented basically forces you to play the game as if it were a no-hit challenge. You have a multiplier that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a smooth gameplay experience, but sooo hard! It frustrates me! I can't recommend this if you're not incredibly skilled at these kinds of games. Maybe I am too old, too slow, or maybe I am too impatient while fighting having a moveset that is this quick and feels so free to move around in... or maybe I am simply not smart enough to play with so much freedom. To me, Dark Souls bosses feel a lot easier than bosses or even midbosses in this game. I constantly press the wrong buttons, end up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such an amazing movement system, you'll rarely see anything like this anywhere else. I’ll say right away, i wouldn’t recommend this game to absolutely everyone, actually I would recommend everyone to try it, but only because within the first hour you’ll easily understand whether its for you or not. The game is hard from the very first seconds, and over time it only gets even harder and I mean MUCH harder. And even though I praised the movement, it’s tough to adjust to it after other games. So…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pov: When you walk through an unfamiliar city without Google Maps. What a wonderful pixel platformer this is. Here we'll need to explore dungeons, moving from one room to another. Each will be full of enemies, and health points aren't so plentiful. The large variety of weapons, skills, and movement options is very pleasing. As is the upgrade system using blood points as currency. The gameplay is truly rich - no chance to get bored here. Overall, this is an excellent pixel platformer game -…

I can see why this game felt so gripping at the time of release, it just keeps introducing mechanic after mechanic, minigame after minigame, though that flow feels oddly exhausting - I've gone very few dives without *something* popping up - as well as slightly stagnant at a certain point. Doing runs on [ScourgeBringer](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1037020/ScourgeBringer/) until I can…
neutral · AI labelView post →Genuinely the hardest game I have ever played. It is absolutely brutal. The dev did literally everything he could to make it a nightmare to beat. No iframes on dashes, slow parry animation, enemies send barrages of bullets which makes parrying useless. The floor has spikes on it that do damage. Health drops are extremely few and far between. Enemies lock on to you and change their angle up to the last frame or two. It is exceptionally difficult. I've played 7 hours and got to biome 3. It is…

I recently finished **Dredge** and really enjoyed it on the Deck. **Lonely Mountain Downhill** is a enjoyable skill-based mountain biking game that's a lot of fun to explore and has a ton of content. **Snowrunner** is a chill game that works well on the Deck too...it's kinda like Dark Souls for trucks, but meditative. **Hollow Knight** is great and looks really good on the OLED screen. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ScourgeBringer A brutally difficult yet rewarding rogue lite, with minor flaws This game has captured my attention in a way that I never would've expected, and I started loving the game the more I played it. But as great as ScourgeBringer is: it isn't perfect What I love Each realm has clear themes and gorgeous pixel art that give every location a very unique look and feel, especially when paired with the music of each location. Speaking of music, the game has unique tracks that play…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, this game kicked my ass. Makes the criticism I’m about to dish out feel unfair, especially with how little time I’ve invested, but I don’t have the motivation to keep going. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the hardest games i've played in a while. If you enjoy challenging games, this is the one. Not many people talk about this title, but it's a very cool concept, a little similar to celeste's movement, and hollow knight's boss fights. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dang, is this one of those Hidden Gems people love to talk about? I'm not good at this game by so many metrics, but from the moment I booted up ScourgeBringer and saw a freaking pizza recipe in the EULA, I knew I was in for a treat. It really is Celeste + Mega Man, in my opinion, the difficulty will take an aluminum bat to your shins, but not to the point you rage quit. I adore Kyhra and her absurdly puffy hair, I hereby adopt her as the little sister I never had. I got this game for 2$…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think ScourgeBringer is a good game with some issues Combat/movement is satisfying and most guns are awesome to use (big fan of the lasers). The realm mechanics that are introduced are super cool, realm 4 being my favourite. Great art and music as well, plus what I found of the story is super interesting. Runs are fun at first but become tedious after the third or fourth hour. The items you find during your run help but do not offer much replayability in the long run. Enemy design is very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best EULA I've ever seen. I do actually want to try the recipe, it seems really tasty. As for the game, brutally difficult, but fun. Plus a very cool story behind the gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm gonna not recommend this one. I must have accidentally bought this not realizing it was a "roguelite". Not a fan of the genre to begin with but I guess I'll break down what doesn't work about this game. Firstly, like most in the genre, it is incredibly repetitive. You will fight the same enemies in the same rooms over and over again. Get to the boss, die on the boss, repeat the same rooms again and again. It is mind numbingly boring. Killing the easy as hell mini-boss will give you a skill…

Also how it sometimes drags an attacking enemy with you when you dash AWAY. This can happen even when a suicide type enemy "dies" (enters iframes/explosion phase) btw. and the parry. dear GOD. there's a need-to-be-prepared type of parrying (dark souls for example) and then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love games like this. But this one is far, far, FAR too difficult. I saw another review where the player said they thought they were too old for it, and I genuinely feel for them, because this game is brutal as ♥♥♥♥. I think a lot of the people praising it aren't really telling others just how insanely difficult it is to play, and that's a shame, because this game has, in my opinion, not communicated that properly on its own. I have never rated a game poorly for being too difficult. But I am…

Has a great progression system until you reach the end of it (which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quick) and then becomes one of those "git gud" rubbish games that all the steam p****holes enjoy. Skip this one, unless you are one of those idiots. Incredibly boring to finish. We pay money and invest time in these games, and we want to enjoy them. The map sprites and art remind me of Metroid, and the Character movement seems like it was inspired by "Celeste" in part.
