Players praise the game's visuals, animations, and art style. [1][2][3] Many compare it favorably to other Shantae games, often ranking it below Pirate's Curse. [4][5][6][7] Some reviewers note issues with difficulty, map design, and lack of autosave. [5][8][9][10]

If I could give this a thumbs sideways, I would. Played every game in the Shantae series and while this is probably the second best, it's leagues behind Pirate's Curse, still. It's cute, but the gameplay itself is just so pedestrian and obnoxious, with dumb level design and ability decisions smoothed over with Skyrim-esque levels of consumable items shoved in your pockets. Drilled through this game in two days while …

It's not the high of Pirates Curse but I had fun with this one. Humor is on point, my favorite laughs were at the midpoint with familiar faces. gameplay wise, the animal transformations act more like traditional metroidvania titles with a simple button press or context sensitive (like being in water) which is a GODSEND coming off the heels of 1/2 genie hero. If I can recommend anything, do not 100% this game unless …

I really enjoyed this game, it's very fun and cute. It has some flaws compared to the predecessors, such as a weaker story and much easier difficulty, but it also has strengths such as better visuals and longer gameplay. I rank it higher than Half Genie Hero but lower than Pirate's Curse. Overall, a solid 7.5/10 from me.

Second best Shantae game after Pirate's Curse. Map is the best out of all Shantae games. Animated scenes are awesome.

The classic joy of the Shantae series now comes with a modern visual flair.

positive · AI labelView post →Clearned Shantae and the Seven Sirens. Another solid Shantae game. Fun metroidvania, but the last area/boss ended up too easy BECAUSE of the metroidvania and I just couldn't die. Not as good as Pirate's Curse or HGH, but still a good midtier in the series. 8/10, consistently good quality.
positive · AI labelView post →played a bit of Shantae and the Seven Sirens. i definitely think i prefer Half-Genie Hero and the lack of a Jake Kaufman soundtrack is a shame but so far it's good! im kinda glad they expanded upon the art style from the previous game, it's a very unique look.

neutral · AI labelView post →Hello Friends, Today I will review the game Shantae and the Seven Sirens. This is the latest installment of the Shantae series on steam. The other games are all previous games on steam with the exception of Shantae Advenced: risky's revenge. Players do not need to play the previous games in the series, but it helps to recognize some returning characters to this game. This game is a metroidvania. It is a maze where you have to find powerups to move onto different areas and then go back and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game has tumblr-esque dialogue, gooner character designs, 1000 healing items that make you immortal, and weird voice acting so basically its just the average shantae game. 8/10 i didn't like the card system + no ammo baron (the worst part of the game honestly)

neutral · AI labelView post →This is a Shantae. It's great because of it's simplicity, anime style and dumb jokes. It reminds me of the miniclip games era, and I love it. Between AAA billion dollar games and +100 hours game I reaaaaally needed a rest like this one to truly be able to enjoy games in general once more. Well done Shantae, never change!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Shantae, Pirate's Curse is absolutely my favorite, and my personal recommendation to anyone looking to play a Shantae game for the first time. This game in particular though.. is kinda rough. I find the movement really slow, and unfun to traverse the world, and with these types of games, you're going to need to backtrack quite a bit. Also, visually, the sprites don't look very good in my opinion, and the areas feel bland... the animated cutscenes look lovely though! I still plan on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*plays Shantae and the Seven Sirens* Oh cool looks like this one game doesn't have the typical boneheaded WayForward game design choices! *makes it to the very final stage* Ah, there it is.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Shantae serie is one of the best metroidvania serie ever. This game is no expection to the serie. The first part is really good despite being quite classical, really much inspired by Wonder Boy The Dragon's Trap and the Castlevania's Sorrow games. The devs, as always with Wayforward, are clearly huge fans of the classic NES/SNES/GBA games, because they added SO many references here and there to older games, like Batman, TMNT , Super Mario 2 and 3, Megaman, Castlevania 1 and 2 (NES) to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So yeah, Shantae and the Seven Sirens. Quite fun if you're into these kinds of games, and if you've never played a Shantae game this is a good option to start with, albeit there are no bad choices here except perhaps Risky's Revenge. I give it a "you weren't fooling anyone, Rottytops" out of 10. 🧵
positive · AI labelView post →I like this more than the Half-genie hero, but not as much as the The Pirate's Curse. Still a very fun game if you spend some time playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was an in-between option for reviews because I feel really mixed about this game. I feel like it's really meh but I did enjoy my time with it somehow, even if most of what I think of it is negative. Having played Half-genie Hero a few years back, I feel like I liked this one way less... The humor was really hit or miss for me, mostly a miss in this case because the weird quirky meta-humor kinda took me out of the whole thing in several occasions. The story was whatever, I'd even…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first game in the Shantae franchise (received in a MV bundle). It has some strengths but technical issues are what broke the back of things for me. The game does expect that you know who many of the returning characters are (e.g.: Risky Boots) but it wasn't a really big deal for me. None of the characters have a whole lot going on in terms of arc where it would be an issue to come in part way. I think if you are just here to see more Shantae you will probably love the game, but I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My favorite Shantae game so far and even one of the best metroidvania's I've played. The game combines a connected metroidvania world with linear dungeons, which works really well. The level design is excellent as usual in Wayforwards games, and there are lots of different enemies and bosses. Defeated enemies sometimes drop cards, which can be used to gain perks that suit your playstyle. Only thing I didn't like are the dances to reveal hidden objects or loot, since it doesn't add anything to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shantae has always been a hat on a hat type of series, and Seven Sirens is suffering due to it. By all means, I don't mean to dismiss how good the series has been, but I think Seven Sirens is proof that such a notion of game design is starting to wear thin. Shantae has a game formula mixed with the likes of Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and it's own identity. Now with Seven Sirens it adds a card mechanic on top of it all. Like I don't want to be too mean off the gate because I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay wise, this is marginally below the pirate's curse in a good way. The abilities you unlock are smooth and feel natural, no need to pause to dance for your transformations this time around. It is also a proper metroidvania this time, no level select. Everything is interconnected.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game for lovers of casual Metroidvania action. Banging soundtrack and a surprising amount of tasteful fan service make it a nice package. I did have some small complaints. A couple of the later boss fights are tedious, and I was annoyed to find they brought back my least favorite part of the earlier Shantae game, Risky's Revenge: timed battle arenas like the Battle Tower. The spinning shield of swords spell is still OP as heck though which helps take the edge off those annoying parts of the…

positive · AI labelView post →Realized that I never said it despite beating the game a couple of weeks ago, but I really enjoyed Shantae and the Seven Sirens. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6: Shantae and the Seven Sirens (PC) Think this is my favorite Shantae game. I enjoyed Half-Genie Hero but prefer the open world format that this has. The movement is really fun in the speedrun, with the Newt Dash and Bonker Tortoise, and there's a Beginner Mode where that's the main focus.

neutral · AI labelView post →This is arguably the best Shantae game. It has a massive open-world-style 2D map, excellent platforming, a good story, and lots of variety. Switching between abilities is smoother than in previous games, and the movement options feel pretty seamless. The gameplay is some of the best in the metroidvania genre. The music is disappointing, though, given the excellent music of previous games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Day 140 is the Shantae and the Seven Sirens soundtrack by Jake Kaufman! I always feel compelled to mention when I've not played the game, as if that could be the only reason to listen to a soundtrack, and I feel a little bad about that. Sometimes amazing music is just amazing music, that's all.
