Bad colorblind mode. It is next to useless and does nothing to actually make it easier to differentiate colors. I actually could not find what it did at all until I looked it up online. It is completely useless, it puts text descriptors in difficult to find areas when hovering over a colored thing. A proper implementation of this would be to put a specific shape or texture over colored things, like vertical lines …

Shapez is a top tier automation idle title. It hooks u hard n you can hardly stop playing. Late game I just keep tweaking factory lines nonstop. Occasionally I redo layouts for hours with zero output gains. Still it’s super rewarding to build step by step and finally make all lines run smoothly after countless tries.

Gamers of Lemmy, how do you mouse on the couch?. I'm not a gamer, but I like some casul games from time to time, like Timberborn or Shapez. Yesterday I wanted to start a game again, after a period of not gaming since february or so. I've been getting used to sitting in my comfy chair in the evening, doing some programming or some online ciurse. I would like to game in my comfy chair as well, instead of sitting behind my desk where I've been working all day. But games demand much more intense…

You have a life? Fageddaboutit. This game is a full-time job. No… Actually worse. At a job you at least clock out. Here? You are the system now. You wake up thinking about systems You go to sleep thinking about systems. Except… you don’t go to sleep anymore. You collapse out of exhaustion because the system never sleeps. At first it’s simple. Cut a shape. Rotate it. Stack it. You start off just placing a few conveyors, cutting shapes, stacking them, nothing crazy. But then you notice,…

I 100% recommend Shapez 2. I bought it during early access but even then it felt complete enough that I got my fill of it. Imagine my surprise right now when I discover it had a 1.0 launch. It's an exceptional factory game because it strips the genre down into the most fundamental aspects of factory building and then implements those key aspects with perfection. It's the purest form of factory builders. No exploration, no collecting resources to build bigger factories, no time limits, no…

*highly* recommend Shapez 2 if you're into automation games. Nowhere near as difficult as Factorio, but thats because throughput ratios are all based around clean, round numbers. Resource patches are infinite, and curves in belts don't affect throughput. Extremely player-friendly game 🙏

It's Factorio, but without any of the adventure aspects. No enemies, no characters, no fog of war, and infinite resources. You're presented with a huge grid filled with "natural resources", and given the freedom to draw factories anywhere you want. The game tasks you with delivering specific shapes to the central hub, which will require harvesting the natural resources and cutting, coloring, and stacking them together in specific ways. I had a ton of fun with this for about the first 10…

This game is great and addictive. There's like a lot of place to improve your design even with given limited parts. However it doesn't have a speed up option like x2. I enjoyed 95% of this game, but the developers fumbled at the goal line. The majority of this factory game is simple and logical. Then you get to the final mechanic of "floating layers." To put it simply, floating layers don't make logical sense and aren't explained in the game. They are a quirk of the programming that the developers should have patched out, but instead they decided to keep it in as a challenge. You can only figure out floating layers in one of two ways: extensive…

OpenTTD, OpenRCT2, Rimworld, Prison Architect, Factorio, Shapez 2... anything that heavily replies upon a mouse on PC, and is finicky to control with thumb sticks, is remarkable with the Deck's track pads. I've seen some content suggesting Shapez 2 to be a worthwhile automation game, but since it's still in early access - which I refuse to play on principle - I decided to take a look at Shapez 1. Shapez 1 is not as fancy looking or as complex as Shapez 2. What Shapez 1 is, is a very simple, very chill, and very nostalgia-inducing automation game. This game has been around a while and there are plenty of reviews already, so I’ll just say yes it is worth getting if it’s on sale at a steep discount. I think I paid $2 for it. I tried playing it on the Steam Deck so I’ll comment on the playability/UX. I think “playable” is a reasonable description, but the game is really designed for mouse + keyboard shortcuts + shift/ctrl so it’s not the most immediately control friendly thing on the deck. This is undoubtedly a good game, the music fits, the gameplay loop is engaging, performance looks good, and the difficulty curve seems well paced, but im giving it a negative review due to how ass the game feels to play, mostly when it comes to controls, while the game has rebindable keys, many things that should be bindable simply arent, zooming out breaks your belt planning, and the blueprint system. This little video shows some basic working things like belts (grey) and grabbers (blue). I need to come up with elements to make this actually fun and challenging. I need a goal product and interesting resources as well as more machine mechanics. Lots to think about and prototype, but this is an exciting step!
