Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 78 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (189 of 219 positive).
Players praise the game's atmospheric horror and creepy environments. [1][2][3] Many find the game too short, with playtimes under an hour. [4][5][6] Some reviewers note the anomalies are often too obvious. [7][6][8]

Part of me wants to be able to recommend the game, but there's just not enough here… --- I see other people calling this scary or a psychological horror, but you're never in any danger, there's no action; there's no consequences, there's no jump scares, there's not even a pay off. The idea is simple: you're assigned to walk through a scene, repeatedly and identify if anything changed. In a way it's a 3 dimensional …

This is a really good title in the 'find anomalies' genre. In this game you have three consecutive runs of finding the anomalies in the environment. First run is in an office, second in a factory and last in a gas station. The game is good in creating a creepy atmosphere. The anomlies itself are sometimes suprising, other times expected. Not too difficult, but sometimes missable. There are 87 anomalies in total, …

The game is good, but very short and maybe not what you expect. The play time is < 1 hour. It's possible to replay the game and see different content, but its not very appealing sadly. The whole thing is about 3 different rooms. You will walk through each of them individually in a loop until you succeed in finding anomalies after which you proceed to the next room. "Finding anomalies" means you walk into the room …

It is obvious that this game took inspiration from a few similar games on the market, I do however think, that some things are setting it apart from those: The audio design is great. It is atmospheric and you are not confronted with the generic "static noise" you find in a lot of indie horror games. The audio felt haunting and very dimensional. Sometimes it gives you a sense of urgency and danger while in other …

I picked up Shift 87 for $2.50 on sale, and can say it's worth it's current full price of $5.00. The levels are are well-crafted, atmospheric, liminal, and plenty creepy enough to satisfy what I was looking for in a game. I would not say that any of the anomalies I've seen where very subtle, however, so if you are looking for difficulty this game might not meet your expectations. That said I only played through …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was disappointed with this one. The visuals, the ambiance, the sound, its all there. Except the game play. Comparing this to exit 8, platform 8, The cabin factory or Shinkansen 0, it just misses the mark of subtlety. The anomalies are very much in your face, you cant miss them at all with a few super hidden ones as the exception. Getting all achievements is also a slog since there is no chapter select. So if you accidentally beat a certain area, you have to restart from the first room.…

Life can get repetitive sometimes. However, there are people whose daily routine is especially monotonous, and those people are the shift workers. These workers must do the same task over and over, but somehow they must stay alert while doing it. In Shift 87, you get to step into the shoes of one of these workers - but this is not your stereotypical…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been enjoying anomaly games, sadly I cannot recommend this one. The atmosphere is cool, but it took me all of 26 minutes to walk through. I think I was wrong on a single anomaly in the very last area (there are 3 "rooms). Normally anomaly games can test your memory but this one makes them too glaringly obvious. Maybe if there was a lot more content or a story I could recommend it, but even on sale I didn't feel this provided much of anything.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall not really sure why all the positive reviews... The anomalies are almost all slap-you-in-the-face obvious. There are a few kinda jump scares, and some creepy scenes, but that's it. It's a walking sim, with all of 3 rooms. 30 minutes worth of play time tops, and it wasn't even as compelling as others I have played in the same genre. Overall half-baked attempt at a decent idea.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift 87 is an observation horror game containing 3 levels, each with 22 different anomalies. You must succesfully identify the existence of an anomaly or lack there of, 5 times in a row, in order to move on to the next level. For the most part the anomalies aren't difficult to spot, all except maybe 1 or 2 in each level which I identified correctly on accident lol. When it comes to horror I can't say I was scared, paranoid maybe but that wore off after the first playthrough. The game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s like exit 8, platform 8 etc Not bad, not excellent. It’s just OK
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an anomaly game. Many of the anomalies are easily spotted and not missable, with only a handful of exceptions. However, those are just a few of the numerous anomalies throughout the game. Otherwise, the ambience is quite well done.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some where very obvious and were very easy to spot. Others were hard. An OK game with good graphics. I recommend! When it comes to carpets... They have to match the socks. I learned that from Kids In The Hall.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1-hour, boring game about nothing. Do not play, do not pay. Not recommended. 3/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ll admit, I’m not the best at anomaly games—it took me a bit to get the hang of it. But once I did, I had a blast! The horror elements really elevated the experience. Very spooky, great atmosphere and some awesome jump scares!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good spot the differences. Wish the anomalies had to be reported more specifically as there were several times (especially in the final segment) where I tried to mistakenly report an anomaly (to reset the stage) and there was actually something to report that I hadn't caught. The final stage also has many anomalies that I never purposefully found and just chanced upon correctly indentifying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very short game but it was fun. This is my first game I got 100% on and I wasn't doing it intentionally, I just wanted to find all the anomalies which didn't take too long. I REALLY wish it had more levels to it or at least more anomalies. Overall, I got it on sale and am pretty satisfied with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a walking simulator with the psychological horror tag that takes full advantage of eerier liminal environments to deliver scares that are actually psychological as opposed to heavily leaning on cheap jump scares and loud noises. I'm not saying there are 0 jumpscares, or that Shift 87 offers a cerebral horror experience on par with titles like What Remains of Edith Finch or Escape the Backrooms, but it's a fun little treat for fans of atmospheric horror games. I'm happy with the price…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →at first look i was exited to play this game and i get more exited when i read the comment. i was like oh a less better game of PT. when i play it in the first time i was a little scare and hope for more from this game then i start to dislike it . the week point is like this 1- story make no seance 2- three level is not enough 3- you cant die in this game and the jump scare are bad 4-in total of 22 different change in the room you can win when you get 6 or 5 correct different in the row…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay. Shortest anomaly game I've played BY FAR and that includes some free ones on itch.io but the presentation is fantastic. It's beautiful. Good environments. Hard to recommend because I beat the game in 20 minutes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just completed the game in exactly 100 minutes. A phenomenal anomaly horror game with great ghosts, spooks and jump scares with superb graphics. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves anomaly games. I also really loved beating reveil too
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun, streamed the whole game. Thought the beginning was too easy but realized it was more of a tutorial to get you acclimated. Good game for the right price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really scary game! https://youtu.be/icGBThpgyHg
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game if you're into anomaly hunting games like Exit 8, Cabin Factory, and Dollmare. However, a bit short and easy, and not really that scary. So yes, but probably better to get on sale. It feels a bit like they jumped on the bandwagon with this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift 87, developed by Pixelsplit and published by Daedalic Entertainment, is a psychological observation horror game that focuses on attention, perception, and the discomfort of repetition. It takes the familiar framework of “spot the difference” and transforms it into an eerie descent into unease. The player assumes the role of a nameless anomaly detector, stationed in an isolated, sterile facility where strange occurrences disrupt the mundane. The job is simple on paper—patrol the floors,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The atmosphere in Shift 87 is WILD! Wild good! Wild amazing! Wild....well so wild that I am scared to go back in and find the other anomalies. I shared this with a friend and they also loved and hated it at the same time because the feeling of being watched, the tension running through each level, and the fear that builds is really amazing. I highly recommend. If anyone has got bored of other anomaly games, this one will change your mind on their possibility.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →anomalies too easy to spot actually. But fun little game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Shift 87," developed by Pixelsplit and published by Daedalic Entertainment, is a first-person observation horror game that challenges players to identify anomalies within meticulously crafted environments. The game offers a unique blend of atmospheric tension and puzzle-solving. Pros: - Immersive Atmosphere: The game excels in creating a tense and eerie environment, with detailed settings that keep players on edge. -Challenging Anomaly Detection: Players are tasked with spotting subtle…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have a love for observation games. They remind me of when I was young and received Highlights Magazine in the mail monthly. I’d open up right to the hidden pictures puzzle and find all the hidden objects within the picture. Observation games are the equivalence on a grander scale and I haven’t grown out of observing and finding hidden objects. Shift 87 stands out to me. I like the locations, the controls, the difficulty, and some of the horror sequences that are extra chilling. My nerves are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game! Kept me paranoid the entire time! It was a little shorter than I expected, but I really have no true complaints. It was neat to see the connections to Reveil! Looking forward to more from these developers, and would absolutely recommend their games!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Linux using Proton Exp, One of those new fads "spot the different's" Game Play Games, walk around looking for something different, do it correct a set amount of times and move on, Yes this Game has 3 different Level/Maps, first play through took 0.5 Hours so still a very short Game but then it's only £3.99, Graphics are okay, Sound is Good. Worth more then 1 play through as to see all anomalies and deviations, So over all i do recommend this Game as it does have a bit more to it (3…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=https://youtu.be/MgnCjeux8IU?si=jBAH7uOzLQqznxi5] First 20 Minutes Gameplay Here I think the game has great potential to become a classic thriller! I say this with some reservations, as the game, in its current form, is short and mainly involves finding anomalies. In the game, you start with the objective of locating anomalies scattered around. Each "stage" requires you to enter an elevator that takes you to the next stage if you have found and marked the anomalies (or not marked them if…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing little game for a perfect price. I got to test it before it came out, and I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Runs great, looks great, and it's horror done right. I highly recommend it. If you like observation and horror type games, you simply cannot be disappointed with this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift 87 is an observation-based horror game where you have to spot anomalies in different environments. At first, I had a bit of trouble understanding what I was supposed to do. You're thrown into the game pretty quickly, without much explanation, and I struggled to spot the first few anomalies. However, once you get the hang of it, things become fairly easy. I liked the atmosphere, which can feel unsettling at times and creates a nice sense of tension, even though I didn't find the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift 87 is my first ever anomaly hunt game, and I absolutely loved it! The game itself is spooky with all of the various anomalies, but it's also got some humor, too (for those in the know: Post-Its). The anomalies vary from obvious to very subtle and it's so much fun trying to note them all. Unless you scare incredibly easily, this game is more atmospheric and keeps you on the edge of your seat without causing jump scare panic. There is a degree of frustration when you're making your way…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is easily one of the stronger contenders within the anomaly-finding genre that I've played. The clever blend of SCP-inspired weirdness and sharp salarypunk corporate vibes (especially in the first level) sets it apart, giving it a unique identity that feels fresh and memorable among a sea of nigh-identical games. The anomalies themselves are often challenging— especially the ones in the factory level. That being said, they're difficult in all the right ways without ever crossing the line…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(This title is based on their other games.) Shift 87 is a replay value designed short title. No idea what the time or date is, but if it's about that company then that makes sense. Despite the short pop ups, this isn't actually a horror. My first run was only 17/66 anomalies. So it's a good perspective workout. The anomaly meter can only report one per anomaly. It doesn't reverse either. Very interesting mechanics.. I wonder what scp is behind this series xD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very good game enjoyed it was scary wish it was longer had some scary parts in there
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shift 87 has some quality of life, anomaly and sound problems. There is no New Game Plus and you are forced to listen to the shift manager again and again which could have been avoided with a level selection feature. The anomalies are too obvious and there are no dangerous ones, as a player I can say the game is not up to industry standards in these two areas. The sound also has issues, the game includes ambient music that cannot be muted without also losing all ambient sound and this could…

Pixelsplit has crafted an intense anomaly-spotting experience that blends psychological horror with engaging observation mechanics. The gas station setting is incredibly immersive, making every shift feel like a descent into madness. The anomalies range from subtle to outright terrifying, ensuring no two playthroughs are the same. The game's…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely stellar atmosphere, with some very well done scares. The worst part of this game for me was when it ended, but then I did go on to replay it another 3 times! Normally I'm not the type of person who enjoys these types of horror games, but this was a superb example of what these games set out to do! Brilliant experience, a must for horror fans, highly recommended!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a lot of fun with this game! One play through took roughly 30 minutes give or take. (still loads of anomalies left to see!) Environments and sound design are really well done. Game runs SMOOTH and has great graphics. I'd say this game is less about the anomalies and more about the striking environmental design.. (I found most of the anomalies to be pretty easy to spot.. large hard to miss changes most of the time. Maybe I just got lucky though?) I'd recommend it anyways!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clear evolution of the walking simulator/anomaly hunter genre. I like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is pretty good. One of the better anomaly games of late. It's from the devs whom brought us Reveil l which is a good game as well. The game ran well for me and I was immersed. Graphically it looks nice. It doesn't break the bank either. It didn't take me long to complete the game either. There's replayability in the form of discoverin' all of the anomalies. There are 66 total. Give it a go. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/gKkq67ix0HM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great anomaly spotting game with good atmosphere and a decent number amount of anomalies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Atmosphere is nice but there isn't really a game here. If there is an anomaly on a level you are able to report anomaly on device whether you find or see the anomaly or not. It counts that as a success. So i literally entered a level. reported anomaly from the elevator and went to the next level, repeat. Didn't even need to look around. I just progressed no matter what as long as I reported anomaly as soon as I started.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty short and basic game that showcases some set pieces. It has nice art. The actual gameplay is lacking though - even for a game where you inspect things.
