A few players note the game can be beaten in under an hour, with little incentive to return. [1][2][3][4]

Let me be clear, I love the concept and core gameplay of this game, the way you control your blade and the feedback you get from hitting other blades is amazing. The problem appears when you introduce, and then heavily rely on power cubes. They will randomly spawn in a spot in the stadium periodically, sometimes you'll get to it first, sometimes the opponent will. Every single blade part (every single one) has an …

promising concept. cool gameplay. not enough gameplay. on a serious note, the games premise is interesting as is, however it fails to give you genuine obstacles to overcome, the combat is tipped way too heavily on the powercube mechanic (literally can beat the game first try). the tournament isnt even a tournament... you cant get knocked out, and you can attempt it at any time. i feel like im grinding for the elite …

When the Slayblade demo dropped, I was convinced that this would be one of the greatest games of all time. It certainly had the energy about it: a unique style, a revolutionary control system, and everything that a Beyblade fan could want out of the core gameplay loop. Plus, it was launching at the peak of Beyblade X's popularity. Slayblade is heavily inspired by two things: DS-era gaming, which is hands down one of …

First of all - Crumpet. The game itself presents an interesting concept. There’s a really solid foundation here for a roguelite, and I genuinely find myself enjoying playing it. However(!), and this is a pretty BIG “however”... In its current state, the game simply doesn’t feel like a complete product. The system you’ve created is an excellent foundation to build upon, and if the game had been presented as something …

This game has so much personality and I love everything that goes into the vibe of it. I laughed out loud multiple times because this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious. The music is also banging, and the $5 I spent on it was worth it for the music alone. I mean yeah, it's short... but it's priced fairly, and the art, music, gameplay and charm all come together in a beautiful way.

Players who liked Slayblade talk about fun, stylish, and easy to pick up; those who didn't talk about too short and lacks content. Which matters more to you?

60 of 287 · most liked firstThis one is tough. I can appreciate a game developer that doesn't try too hard to rush something out of the door with too many features and not enough polish. There are plenty of games that have had too much scope and not been able to clean it up enough to the point the game just works. Slayblade DOES work, and it works very well with what it's got, very clean, very good performance on my PC, and a slick presentation with no bugs that I encountered. Unfortunately, there is a point where this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cool visual style, fun concept, but boils down to getting spin reduction items and then the game is over, you win. You can very easily beat the entire game on your first run in like 10 minutes. Just not really enough game here to be able to recommend it

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great concept and a cool design but the game can be completed in around 30 minutes or less, aside from adding modifiers to your runs which ultimately have little impact on the feel of the game. Plenty of potential but runs should be significantly longer with more unlocks between runs outside of modifiers, can't recommend in it's current state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its pretty fun but I think overall I dont like how important power cubes are. I feel like the game has really good combat and physics, and I like hitting my opponent and finding angles to hit them with more force than they hit me. But the best way to play is to minimize interactions before the power cube spawns by circling the arena and barely engaging. I wish the upgrades on the items did special effects to my Blade instead of to power cubes, because I feel like that removes a lot of the power…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game I wish it had an endless mode, with increasing diffuculty
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to play this game just download the free demo, paying the 5 bucks gives you like 5% more content.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hmm this is a tough one. I played a good 10 hours of the demo was very eagerly awaiting release finished the game in first run with literally no issues. Great game but very limited content it just requires more things to do on each run. The balance of individual parts seems to be super broken. Control system is amazing and the customization is very intricate however none of this matters when the game boils down to drive over a power up instantly win the game. The additional runs only…

neutral · AI labelView post →for 5 Dollars, you really cant complain, idk why there is any negative reviews for this considering how much replayablity there is and how cheap it is. Its fun for short sessions. Im sure more content will be added in forms of updates or DLC. Solid little roguelite beyblade battler.

I usually hover around a good hundred, and that's still a very small percentage of all demos available. I like to sort and evaluate them on a piece of paper (pic below from february).…
neutral · AI labelView post →i eagerly awaited this release after playing the demo, but was extremely disappointed to find it lacking in content. i beat the game on my second run by starting with increase spin equal to level head and rock lees bod, which gives exp every time you get a power up, then once i gained enough levels i switched to the damaging head and a bod and tip that also decreased opponents spin, at level 13, getting two power cubes instantly reduces their spin to zero, which while cool, felt kind of cheap?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game. But it's too bare bones. You can beat a run fairly easily and the challenges are the only progression. A roguelike should be difficult at first but gets easier with skill and luck to keep people invested. No depth, too easy, too short, doesnt have much of a compelling art style, feels like a free Itch project.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really anticipated this one and was really let down. Not seeing what this adds over the demo aside from some minor cosmetic flourishes. It's also just far too short at any price. My playtime is from one run where I went VERY slowly and I feel no need to jump back in.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game doesn’t feel fully finished, as though something is missing from the overall experience. It has potential, but unfortunately, it falls short of what I expected.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a $5 game but the demo was pretty much the entire game. Honestly refunded and felt scammed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having been a beyblade kid, I was really hyped for this game. I want to start with the good. I like the art style, the game runs well. I really think there is a good foundation to a good game here. With some time and refinement, this could be *the* beyblade game we've not had for ages. That being said, I think this game really needs some balancing. As others have mentioned, getting parts that reduce spinning makes the game way too easy. Worse is that the power-up cube is just too strong. It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1. Needs a better tutorial (should I battle? should I gacha? should I go to the shop? when will my parts work?) 2. Needs an endless mode 3. My gameplan so far has been "wait for my opponent to do something stupid" and it has worked out so far 4. I hope this game goes far but for now, just play the demo.

neutral · AI labelView post →I enjoyed the Nextfest demo and was very much looking forward to the release of this game, but my initial impression is that the entire experience can be had with the demo. I’m disappointed to say the least. The game has a lot of potential. I enjoy the mechanics of the battling and the little pixel world is cool, though limited. The big feeling I got is that the game feels unfinished, like it’s missing something. The progression moves at adhd speeds; the battles are so quick and the flow…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished Slayblade, an absurdist top-fighting roguelike from @moomoomang.bsky.social - super satisfying controls and utterly insane humour. But my favourite part of the game is the "Dogzilla" modifier. Nothing's more satisfying than winning a match due to a dog stomping on your opponent.
positive · AI labelView post →Overall was not a fan. Like what other people are saying, the UI sucked. My main gripe with this game though is how it advertises itself as a nostalgia game so you'd expect them to, I don't know, earnestly play into the tropes of the shows based on the game, which they seemed to do at the start, but no. Haha look nostalgia am I right guys nothing is serious and nothing matters this is a silly stupid game now play my barebones gameplay. This game feels like the problem people say western dating…

neutral · AI labelView post →It's a fun and easy to grab and play type of games. You can just start the game and immediately play it. Having a fun mechanic and nice and cute graphics. Also the game kinda forgiving like it will give you some spare changes when you about to go broke, it's nice Crumpet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool concept, sad it turned out the way it did. Just not enough content as others have said. Getting spin reduction items is just an insta win, which is such a shame because the feel of the control of the beyblade is very well done, but just does not matter when you get a power up and insta win with the correct builds, ending the game in about 10 minutes

neutral · AI labelView post →Taking inspiration from the popular toy Beyblade, Slayblade is a short roguelite game where you upgrade your blade and compete against others in spinning top battles. Despite truly stunning visuals and interesting gameplay, Slayblade struggles to do anything with the momentum it builds.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im really surprised at the mixed reviews. The game is easy, yeah, you can beat it on the first try, but the game is about being an awesome beyblade master. Its about the cool music, the visuals, the vibes. for a game that is $5 base, this is great. Anyone who's tried to play an official beyblade videogame knows how awful the game play is (sorry dev staff for beyblade, i know youre trying but probably not given adequate budget). Before this it was From the Top which is solid, and has the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For anyone thinking it will be some large adventure, it is not, however I feel that this can be turned into one if they decide to make a sequel, or something that expands on this concept. There is just not enough "Battle spinning top" games around that I've seen so far, and this has been one of the fun ones. In a nutshell, a good short and sweet game that can be enjoyed for what it is. A one shot adventure game with some wacky modifiers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do like this game, I really do. But there are "levels" which seem to be challenges, you get random things added from obstacles, losing all your money at the end of each day, not gaining XP from battles and even a random insta-kill dog paw. You can not choose to add/remove these, whatever is selected will be there the entire run. I worked through several of these, they were irritating but doable. Then I got to a level where you don't even get to control the battle. I have been stuck on this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eh. I enjoyed it and it does have potential. This game would be 100x better if it continued the theme or followed a story, but nope... I played for 20 minutes then was met with a random cutscene which makes it feel like a money grab...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently, there isn't much to the game. If you played the demo you played the full game. Very barebones and its easy to just create the best top and run through the game. I doesn't tell you what you unlock and each story ends the same just different modifiers, which some are just unfair. Blade design is cool, but you end up just running the same thing every time. No stat screen to tell you info about your top Customization is very simple You get about 1-3 hours of entertainment out of it.

neutral · AI labelView post →slayblade is a simple, focused game, putting a creative "SPIN" on an old gen Y favourite. battle funny-named characters to rise up the ranks and ultimately discover the truth about your father, who mysteriously disappeared after solving the world's energy crisis via incredibly fast spinning tops (SLAYBLADES, if you will). there's so much packed into this if you are curious enough to explore. i love the look and feel of the town (the game's overworld) and it's fun to navigate to search for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely release that pulls at a lot of different nostalgia fibers. The overall art direction is on point with lots of cheeky battle-top parts to choose from and a standout diorama style early aughts City block. Slayblade's gameplay is absolutely killer, very straightforward yet utterly satisfying and cosy. Although it tends to feel a little uncomplicated and very binary at times through really overpowered roguelite elements. Unfortunately lacks some content despite a plethora of modifiers…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is very simple to the point that you don't even really get a tutorial, Trying out different combos, the modifiers you get as you rank up, and the simple gameplay loop makes this game pretty fun to just do a couple runs and try to complete some of the special episodes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slayblade is a cool game, play it, you have no idea where it's going
positive · AI labelView post →I hate giving negatives to small devs, but there's just not enough content. 18 minutes was enough to win a run, and it wasn't gripping enough to warrant a second run.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Woah, did you guys see this game that came out today? Slayblade. Hopping in to become the bey.. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →feels like and old ds game and for 5 bucks i cant complain.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its kinda fun, but everything depends on the power up cubes and nothing is explained. You cant pause a run midway through and then resume it later- only start a new run. You might be able to get a couple hours out of it, but has very little replayability.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i tried the demo and thought it would be fun on full release but it in the end the game got nothing new and in the long term is boring movement during battles feel slugish movement while running around the town is annoying (moving my mouse all the way to each side just to be able to see around the building)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought winning the tournament was going to just be the start but it turns out that it's the end. I loved the concept and feel but I really think there needs to be more to each run. I'm not going to refund because I think the dev has something special here but PLEASE add more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved this game so far! The ego sting of losing a battle is well balanced by the pure joy of mowing grass. My only feedback would be - more mowing grass. Highly recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game felt like a demo Theres modifiers after you beat the first run but that is really boring I thought the game would go on for a lot longer than it did, and it was incredibly anti climatic when it didnt deliver on that It was fun for a moment but only a moment
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have never played a game with as atrocious a UI as I have this game, nothing is properly communicated, this game assumes you know where and when to go and fails to provide any sort of justification for the goals it sets for you. The menus are so inconsistent that when you first launch the game, you will fail to set the language as it does not communicate how to even navigate that. Options on the menu move as you move the mouse across the screen, some actions require you to click and hold…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sure there is less content and variety than many other roguelikes, but for less than the cost of a pack of crumpets it gave me a good bit of enjoyment. It definitely hits the power fantasy of being an amateur blader finding the pieces to make your god combo and beat all your opponents. Worst case scenario you can look at the game as free, runs are so short and you can get almost everything you could want out of the game before the 2 hour refund period. I will not be refunding though out of…
