SnowRunner is a 2020 simulation video game developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive. Following on from Spintires and the sequel MudRunner, the game was announced as MudRunner 2 in August 2018. Focus Home and Saber Interactive re-revealed the title a year later as SnowRunner. The game was first released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 28, 2020, which was then… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 262 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (51,135 of 56,762 positive).
Players find the game both frustrating and addictive, with many describing cycles of getting stuck and rescue missions. [1][2][3] Some reviewers praise the graphics and physics but criticize the slow pacing and repetitive gameplay. [4][5][6]

I love this game and I love the DLC that is coming out of it. But when your CEO says that he would gladly replace his staff with AI when they raise problems with his company, that kinda makes me reevaluate where I'm spending my money. It breaks my heart to say this, because I know that the many studios under Saber cannot help this, but I will not be buying any more DLC for Snowrunner, Space Marine 2 or give any …

I really wanted to enjoy SnowRunner, but the experience became more frustrating than rewarding. The realistic physics and detailed environments are impressive, but the gameplay quickly turns into a repetitive cycle of hauling cargo through endless mud, snow, and rivers. What starts as a fun challenge eventually feels like a slow grind. The game demands a lot of patience, and losing progress because your truck tipped …

SnowRunner is a game you have to experience. The best way to play it? At 5 a.m., watching the sunrise, with a thermos of coffee by your side. No other game gives you so much time to read a book while playing! Stuck in the snow? No worries — your friends will only take about 45 minutes to rescue you. That’s plenty of time to dive back into your book, so always keep one nearby! Nothing slows life down quite like …

SnowRunner is a game where you spend 30 minutes planning a route, 10 minutes driving, and the next hour wondering why you thought that shortcut was a good idea. Every puddle is deeper than it looks, every hill has trust issues, and getting unstuck feels like winning a championship.
Summarised from 34 of the 381 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 10, 2026. How summaries are made
Players who liked SnowRunner talk about great graphics and physics; those who didn't talk about repetitive and slow gameplay. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
The game received "generally positive" reviews according to media review aggregator website Metacritic across its three platform releases. Some critics praised the visuals and pacing of the game. The game sold more than one million copies by July 2020. More than two million copies had been sold by May 2021. In November 2024, Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer of Saber Interactive, told the Game Maker’s Notebook that over 15 million people have played SnowRunner across all platforms since release.

Those streams always got the most views, so this would negatively impact me, but I don't know how I can continue in good conscience.
negative · AI labelView post →Undoubtedly I've introduced countless people to that game, I've streamed it for hundreds of hours, and would have happily continued streaming it for hundreds more. It's always important for livestreamers to have a regular game to fall back on, even if you're a variety streamer. Snowrunner was mine.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the game, played a ton on PlayStation, probably gonna play more of it on pc. Don't buy it, or any other Saber product, at least until they change course. Why? Because saber has apparently decided to use generative AI in it's future projects, certainly for there writing. Which is really the last place it should be used if it must be used at all. Oh, also, the monetization practices are profoundly scummy. As the(at time of writing) 48 DLC's might suggest. several which are not part of any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is stupid implementation of a good idea. EVERYWHERE is 1 m deep mud. Houses are built on mud. Roads are built on mud. air is built on mud. This game makes me facepalm whenever I try to drive a truck. Why are devs thinking the whole world is mud, incapable of supporting wheels of a truck. I can only assume they never driven offroad vehicle in their lives, because 95% of whole ground does not give in when something is passing on it. I thought mudrunner gave them a little bit of a reality…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent lots of money on this game to play crossplay with my wife. We loved it and played for about 530 hours together having plenty of fun. Today I got on and try to join her game on our PS5 and the crossplay multiplayer option is gone. 100% gone. After lots of research I found that SABER is no longer provide crossplay for MacOS or Switch. So disappointed and feel angry. I wouldn't recommened this game or any other game from SABER at this point. 0/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Snowrunner is one of my favourite games because it’s now five years old and laden down with DLC you were ‘meant’ to get along with the release schedule. This means that if you get it all now and you’re struggling in the early game it’s an entirely self-imposed limitation
positive · AI labelView post →5. Hardspace: Shipbreaker This along with Snowrunner and Powerwash Sim are my holy trinity for job sim games, but with the added bonus of an unfolding meta narrative as you work the day job of dismantling space ships, a game that's remarkable relaxing until it isn't. Ha-HA! Explosive decompression!
neutral · AI labelView post →"Casey are you gonna be playing Roadcraft?" No. I'm getting asked that a lot in my Snowrunner streams and I understand why folks think I might be interested, but the thing is there's even more Snowrunner coming, there's gonna be a Quebec region next month! I have so much of this game left to enjoy.
positive · AI labelView post →Hey folks, are you looking to pick up Snowrunner in the Steam sale? Are you looking at the huge amount of DLC and feeling overwhelmed? Well, let me help you out with a little guide for newcomers. Here's what you need: The base game. What DLCs are essential? None of them. Not right now.
positive · AI labelView post →Inspired by Roadcraft: Kelly Plus! Based on a static, talking portrait so it's somewhere between an OC and fan art. Anyway, this was a favor to a friend; I haven't played Roadcraft but it's cousin, Snowrunner, is pretty fun. Swimsuit version available on Patreon!
neutral · AI labelView post →Snowrunner is on sale for 50% off, and I often get asked about what exactly to pick up, because it's got a lot of DLC. *JUST THE BASE GAME* Start there, there's absurd content in just the base game, then get the Year Passes as you want them. 👍 store.steampowered.com/app/1465360/...

neutral · AI labelView post →The game was working perfectly fine until they broke it with an "update" on 01/27/2026. Now the game saves only when it feels like... You will randomly lose progress when you reload or you might get lucky and your game saved correctly.... Fun.

I've 556 hours in the game as of this post, it's a huge comfort game for me, and there's so many regions of the game I haven't completed yet. It's absurdly content-rich.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is something that feels very off about this game and how it plays, at least to me. For starters, the game starts you off in a pickup truck, intended for use as a scouting vehicle. Okay, makes sense. It has offroad tires, you can lock the diff... it can get around, right? But then, why is it that the first truck you unlock, being a giant GMC, is classed as a highway truck, with highway tires, in... an offroad driving sim game where your expected driving conditions involve almost anything…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Space dump trucking is really fun.. The new update may not be all that huge, but it's a blast. (And makes me want to look into Snowrunner.) I love loading up all the trash, carefully driving it to the dump, and then getting to play garbage disposal basketball. Very chill and fun. I haven't even started the expedition yet! Just dump trucking on our main save. -- Frost
neutral · AI labelView post →Truly the game has a fantastic line up of trucks and attachments for them. At the same time, hauling some super heavy cargo across country with friends is overall a fun time. However, the game has an unnecessary need to make the mission progression of contracts the most inconvenient and non-sensical of any game I've played. The progression will have you drive across a flowing river, a swamp, or 4 frozen lakes for materials to build the bridges over them. Only for the final bridge to be the one…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some of the visuals, and none of the depth, of a game called Spintires. Spintires is the game Saber Interactive's parent company, the Embracer Group, had removed from Steam through a lawsuit alleging false advertisement using stolen assets from Saber - a claim so ridiculous that even an American court threw it out. However, because the publisher of Spintires, Oovee, had dissolved the company over the decade of litigation, there is no one to contest Saber's claim to Valve, or…

Buy the International Paystar 5070 from the truck store in the garage as soon as possible, the starter trucks aren't great for any offroad duties.
positive · AI labelView post →While en route to delivery point, you notice a knoll in the patch, you think to yourself, "i can make it".......you can't make it......this is snow runner. 22 minutes later, 3 trucks stuck, 1 crane flipped over, and your 2 minutes away from delivery ready to chuck your keyboard/controller at mach 5 into the monitor, great game honestly recommend to everyone, bring a friend.....your gonna need it 10/10 RECOMMEND

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought SnowRunner because I saw so many positive reviews, and as someone who plays vehicle and driving games with a Logitech G920 wheel, manual clutch, and manual shifting, I was really excited to try it. Unfortunately, the game is basically unplayable with a wheel. The biggest issue is the braking and reverse behavior. When I press the brake, the game activates an “auto reverse” function and starts reversing without me actually selecting reverse gear. For a game that is supposed to be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After the latest update, I noticed that the developers broke the dirt particles. On the map I'm currently playing, there's a small puddle that I drive through at speed. It caused mud to splash everywhere from under my wheels. It even got in the cargo side of a vehicle, dirtying it. But now that's gone. And then I learned that the developers implemented some kind for DLC protection that completely breaks the dirt physics, making it impossible to drive through. This situation does not affect me.…

But nothing prepared me for the glacial pace of SnowRunner. This isn't a game, it's an interactive retirement plan designed exclusively for masochists who hate fun and are obsessed with the sound of a diesel engine sputtering at 5 MPH.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I installed SnowRunner because I thought, "How hard can driving a truck be?" The game looked peaceful in the trailers. Beautiful forests, snowy mountains, relaxing music, and some trucks driving through nature. That was a lie. Five minutes in, I discovered that the real final boss isn't the weather, the terrain, or even the missions... It's a puddle. Not a lake. Not a river. A puddle. I've driven through rivers that were easier than whatever dark magic lives inside those innocent-looking…

Yes, that means I spend all day solving supply chain problems… and then I come home and voluntarily get a truck stuck in virtual mud for 3 hours. SnowRunner is basically a game where the road says “no,” your truck says “maybe,” and physics says “absolutely not.” Every delivery feels like a heroic journey, except instead of slaying dragons, you’re flipping a trailer because you dared to believe in a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought SnowRunner earlier this week and I’ve been quietly impressed with how much game there is within this title. For those who haven’t heard of this game, it’s an open world off roading truck simulator, which isn’t something I’d even give a second look normally. What caught my attention was the simulation of the mud and snow which gets carved out and chopped up when you drive over it. The physics simulation and the mesh deformation just impressed me, so for $22 I thought I’d check it out.…
