Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 187 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (673 of 871 positive).
Some reviewers criticize the use of AI for voice lines and art, calling it undisclosed slop. [1][2][3]

Adding to the negative review pile, buyers beware! AI usage! The bloody nerve to not disclose AI use until *after* the 1.0 release, *after* being featured in a humble bundle? Truth be told, I don't buy the claim AI was limited to just concept art and voice acting - the game runs and plays like a hot mess, and you can find reddit posts from a few years ago where the devs were asking about AI usage for language …

People have latched on to the "AI slop" buzz words because thats what they've heard and so they just regurgitate it. Is AI bad? Is using AI for voice lines bad? Are small developers obligated to keep voice actors employed? I don't condone AI scraping art off the web, but if a small dev needs to use AI to make their game, I'm good with it. Is the game good? Yes, its fun, tongue in cheek, and actually has some polish. …

Sodaman Rating: 8/10 — A Solid Early Access Roguelite With Room Left to Grow The Short Version Verdict: Genuinely enjoying this one. Sodaman is a cyberpunk bullet-heaven roguelite where you blast through alien-infested maps using soda-powered builds, and the core loop holds up well. It's Early Access and it shows in places — balance is uneven, content is limited, and there's a soft-lock bug you need to know about — …

I picked up Sodaman for the price of a few sodas, and somehow it delivered more entertainment than the actual sodas. The game wastes absolutely no time. Within minutes you’re already blasting through enemies like you accidentally drank a 12-pack of energy drinks mixed with liquid confidence. The progression is fast, the action is nonstop, and before long you’re so overpowered that the enemies should probably be …

Great survivor-like. Very similar to Death Must Die... well made and of equal overall quality/depth imo except there is only one hero as far as I have progressed. It makes up for this with the skills that lone hero gets. The various upgrades and skills/augments here are some of the most creative and fun I have seen to bee honest. and they all have visual impact. I got blaze that made my shots proc fire . 60 of 205 · most liked firstcurrently its just a mediocre bullet heaven with heavy death must die vibes (in fact, i think the devs might have even thought of the main theme because in DMD when you defeat a rare enemy it sounds like a soda can opening...) in any case, its missing a lot of qol, content and mete-prog, things that are already heavily present in many other games in the saturated genre. tbh, go play VS, soulstone surv, 20mtd, yet another zombie surv, hordes of hel, deep rock surv, nimrods, rogue genesia,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my first session, I became so powerful that the amount of effects on screen caused the audio to lag. I then received so many upgrades at once that I spent 3 literal minutes having to click ‘okay’ on them all. Eventually made it to the boss of the level, who then instakilled me and caused my entire computer to crash. Amazing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Average game - copies upgrade catagories from another game in the same genre but doesnt bring anything new or intresting to the table. The round timer is abit too long at 15-20 minutes. It gets very boring running to ? on the map while everything melts. Enemy attack radius feels bigger than the red box displays.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - Nice variety for abilities (sodas and cards). - I want Kate to step on me. Cons: - Achievements are bugged, they literally do not work. - Most guns feel the same. - Maps have too little content, it's just crates spammed throughout the map plus the main quest. Most similar games include other objectives/interactables to be less tedious. - Skill points are bought with the same currency that is used for guns and cyberware, which is excessive. Either the amount of credits you earn should…

neutral · AI labelView post →Got the game through a bundle on Halloween 2025 and it was kinda fun. At some point the game got screwy and couldn't be played with a controller anymore. Now that it is released I see it had a genAI disclosure added on June 6th, shortly AFTER the release. Good job hiding that you used it until this late, great way to screw with people and making sure they will never touch your games again.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Vampire Survivors has spawned a tidal wave of copycats. Some of them add a twist that helps them stand out in the crowd, some of them do nothing interesting and bank on their genre to pull players in. Sodaman is the latter. The meta-progression is boring and incredibly overpowered (I only ever died once or twice across several dozen matches). The abilities are boring and lack interesting combos. The game isn't built to handle what it throws at you (endgame on an rtx 3080 will get you as low as…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game has a really cool visual style but the voice acting and writing is AI generated, alongside the gameplay being an uninteresting survivors-like. I got this in a bundle and feel like i wasted my money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →soda-fueled bullet-heaven that’s slick, punchy, and satisfying
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this in a fanatical bundle, it's a fun take on the formula but I'm having some stability issues with the game. As I progress through a stage and increase in power the audio gradually gets more and more distorted. The game still runs fine other than that during gameplay but as I write this review on my phone the game is frozen on a loading screen at 97% for the hub area... Nevermind, it just loaded. Oh, the audio is still terrible... Hmm.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, uses AI. Like, the voices of the characters are terribly disturbing. Second of all, the women is this game are here for the purpose of the main character lust, and if not they are here for his friends. Third of all, mecanics are all right, combos are quite enjoyable. So if you want to sell your soul, feel it while you play, and encounter a few bugs, go ahead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very funny to add a disclosure about AI after release, as if you know it's bad and didn't want to admit to it, but still used it anyway. You could have paid some random internet strangers a bloody fiver and gotten infinitely better voice acting. It doesn't "deliver a more immersive experience," you'd just rather use algorithmic slop than a real human being, and it's nothing but a detriment to your game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely scratches the bullet heaven itch but there are issues which will probably be deal breakers for many. The absurd throwaway story with AI voiceover is a potential one, but the technical issues are the real show stopper. I've only played for about 80 minutes and had a crash to desktop, a full OS lockup, two other game freezes and there is a pervasive audio bug where you essentially have to turn the sound off or the sound effects will eventually devolve into static. Has potential…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →**Game was Early Access at the time of Review** This game is shaping up to be one of my ALL-TIME favorite Roguelites. It has personality to spare, and some of the WORST voice acting I've ever heard, which really amps the flavor for some reason?? I love it. The action is intense, the leveling is well thought out and the replay value is off the charts! (This is going to be key in finalizing the game guys..) VERY well done!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is quite literally a worse death may die. Most of the skills, not only look similar, but they also have similar effects, from the blood scythes to dark void sucky bounce. Additionally, at no point in a run, do you even feel your build remotely coming together. Let alone, the audio distortions that kick in from minute 5 and only ramp up until your 20mins of torture are up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite early-access games on steam that got fully finished yesterday. Good take on the survivorslike/bullet-heaven genre, with a Duke Nukem-esque protagonist who likes fizzy drinks. The game has a lot of upgrades which you can mishmash to suit your playstyle, and you have a rather large permanent skill tree you unlock with currency. There are also cybernetic enhancements which are pretty decent (I prefer the crit chance+ricochet+damage+exp equipment, even if the EXP boxers were nerfed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →V1.0, yet filled with basic bugs, such as quest items refusing to spawn, speech overlapping, ONE MUSIC TRACK. The worst offender is the stability of the game engine. The game looks like it can run on a PS2, but practically requires an SSD to rapidly reload sprites. After I have a few abilities in use, the game will just drop frames as it triggers all the effects on a wave of enemies. This isn't Path Of Exile. I shouldn't go from 110 fps to 20 every time I nuke a wave from orbit. Aside from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first the game feels like it is going with some kind of Cyberpunk Defenders of the Galaxy with Soda vibe. Works for a roguelite premise. Also I am a sucker for pixelated games. The issue with the game is that it leans on that without putting polish into much and leaving an AI to write and voice the dialogue within the game. Dialogue that the game that they are very invested in having you stop everything you are doing to go and interact with. "What are you doing?" "What am I doing?"…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played this for way too long before I learned about all the AI slop in the game and the devs' choice to obscure that fact until after a full release. There's not much to say that hasn't already been said in other reviews but to hit the main points: - The AI voice work is garbage, there's no reason to avoid paying some randos on fiverr to do a better job - Gameplay feels lacking in just about every department; the upgrade/build system seems good until you put in over a dozen runs and figure out…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Creating your game in a way that resembles a different one is a challenge. The problem start when this is your only approach of making one. Sodaman is nothing but a reskin of Death Must Die and I am not saying that just because the gameplay is the same or that the upgrades are similar, The are actual abilities that looks exactly the same (like swinging chain, which has almost identical texture, color and behavior, or the summons that follows the same scripts). But that would not be that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Score: 3/5 Only worth a shot if it's a buck or less. A poorly balanced and AI-prompted/-written Survivor-like with a strong, unique theme around carbonated beverages and a few good jokes at the start. Gameplay is decent for first two levels, then has an insane difficulty spike on level 3 that I couldn't get past. Game isn't worth that kind of effort. Audio is good. Visuals/Art direction is good. Writing and voice acting are subpar. Starts out with some goofy humor I like, but then it becomes…

neutral · AI labelView post →I've played way too many survivor-like games and few of them manage to perfect the formula the way that Sodaman does. Tons of different builds, weapons, playstyles, along with a diverse set of enemies and bosses. 10/10 Bonus note: I don't really ever write reviews, but the devs care for the community made me take the time to write this. I reported a bug to the devs on Reddit where I kept freezing when talking to a quest NPC. They're only a team of 3, but they still promptly messaged me back…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just bought the game on winter sale. I don't think you can get anything better for this price. Even at full price, it's still well worth the cost. There are bugs and balance issues, but hopefully they'll fix them all before the full release. For now, I'll play it a bit more and wait for the full version.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sodaman is an energetic, chaotic, and proudly absurd roguelike shooter that never pretends to be anything other than a loud, fizzy explosion of color and movement. Developed by Tape Corps and published by GameDev.ist, the game drops you into a neon-saturated world recovering from the “Sodapocalypse,” a bizarre disaster that has rendered most sodas flat and powerless. As the titular Sodaman—a hypercharged combatant who wields soda flavors like elemental forces—you’re tasked with mowing down…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worthy bullet hell. Very good graphics, mechanics, progression, sound. If you're into bullet hell's then its worth the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has tons of bugs, like a horrible sound glitch that gets worse and worse throughout the run. The biggest and most glaring though, is that the latest update broke the aiming with a controller and has been broken for months
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: ★★★★ Great Time Played: 3 hours Gameplay: • Bullet-heaven/twin-stick roguelite where you mow down alien swarms and build a run around “soda” powers. • The core hook is mixing soda colours into a build (deckbuilding): stack one colour to super-scale a single effect or blend two for strong hybrids. Synergies pop when your weapon, soda perks, and augments line up. • Permanent meta unlocks (cybernetic augments, cards, weapons) drip-feed new options between runs; the spaceship hub keeps…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a sleeper hit! I play basically ALL of these bullet heaven / survivor like games and this one is shockling good and unique. Leans much more on Hades for its choice and reward system while giving a gun based cheeky bullet heaven experience. Right now the top negative review is about glitches, and thats definitely true. My game has needed a reset twice in the first two hours. But I think as a small team early access title this is acceptable. Absolutely worth the pickup. Loads of fun for…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good, tons of crazy mods for your run and some nice meta progression and build altering items. Just wish they went from garilc-ish enemy swarms that generally die offscreen to smaller groups of stronger enemies worth using manual aim on. Regardless, one of the best bullet heaven games out there!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's quite literally Death Must Die but really sexist. Don't waste your money .
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has amazing potential, but I cannot recommend it to anyone due to several serious reasons: 1. At the Start screen, there seems to be some sort of malware or bad optimization thing which will cause your GPU to SCREAM since it will overload it. Your only way to save your GPU is to start the game quick as possible. When the game starts playing after the first screen, everything is ok, but if you manage to leave your game at start screen, your GPU might die. This is the dumbest thing I…

neutral · AI labelView post →Nice game. its fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you get too many upgrades the audio starts crashing and eventually with more upgrades the whole game crashes and closes out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this from the humble bundle, and probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise. It's a fun-enough survivors-like and the various trees are pretty interesting, even if some of the mechanics aren't explained super well. Definitely could use more tooltips on keywords for sure. I had a bit of fun playing it on my deck with the sound off (though you also can't really read anything on the deck cause the text is all too small). Started playing it on my PC and discovered it's got AI "voice acting"…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good bullet-heaven game. Possibly the best done progression in this genre I've played. There is enough things to upgrade between runs where it keeps things interesting. But not so many things all right away that you feel overwhelmed. If bullet-heaven is a genre you like, I highly recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not the easiest one to review - I know it is still in EA, so you have to adjust your expectations around that - but even with that in mind, Sodaman currently feels light on content compared to other genre contemporaries in their early stages. More than that, the mechanical tuning on both ends of a run is heavily off-balance. Having to clear objectives before you get to the standard survive objective is one way to set your game apart - and it highlights the more story focused approach this has…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard pass on this one. Played for about an hour and still didn't pass the first level. Maybe the game gets better as it progresses, but at this point I already dislike how the game is designed. The first level gives you next to no context for what you are doing. It tells you to find the circle, which apparently I did, but it's just a ruins of what appears to be a broken globe. That's a "circle", yeah ok. The rest of the map is just a bunch of question marks spread throughout the area, and…
