The problem with Solarpunk is that I am ostensibly the target single-player audience: gimme a modular building system, subpar inventory, and a vast map, and I'll grind like a goblin possessed until my homestead is perfect. I don't need a deep story, combat, or interactive NPCs; I just wanna build cool stuff and explore cool places. I didn't want to write a negative review for this, but it's basically "Grinding to Pad Playtime: The Game." Gameplay + Details Click "F" to create Tool, click…

I and my wife kickstarted this game specifically to play together. Once we got the coop working, we spent some time building up and so forth. Shared research, hey good, that's nice. Then I got an airship built and... my wife couldn't even walk aboard. She could not walk onto the deck of my airship. In fact, she fell off the island in the attempt, and discovered another huge disappointment: A cozy, relaxed game with inventory dropping/corpse running, who thought that that made any sense? (Edit…

After about an hour of playing, I'm honestly pretty disappointed. My sister and I were excited to play together, but one of the biggest issues we ran into immediately was that we couldn't properly fly together in airships, which feels like it should be a core multiplayer feature in a game like this. Character customization is also extremely limited. There are very few masculine options available, no beard options, and it's difficult to create a character that looks male. For a game focused on…

My partner and I started playing Solarpunk because of its cozy atmosphere and inventive crafting system. I'm a big fan of cabling and logic gate systems, and combining it with a "clean energy" aesthetic seemed like a perfect recipe for a good time. We've learned that the airships are a little clunky to control at first, animals can randomly get stuck and be unable to move (restarting the game is the best fix for this, btw), and inventory space is incredibly limited, but overall the game…

I really wanted to like Solarpunk, but in its current state it feels less like a finished release and more like a rough early access prototype that somehow got pushed out the door. The game is extremely buggy, the systems feel shallow, and after the initial “okay, this looks pleasant” moment wears off, there just isn’t much to actually do. It has the structure of a survival/crafting game, but without the depth, polish, or sense of progression that makes those games compelling. Everything feels…

There's just next to nothing here. It feels like an empty, very early access game as far as what's in the game. Calling this 1.0 and pricing it at this amount gives the impression that it's more than what it really is. What is here is pretty cool, and pretty fun. I've encountered no bugs, and it runs great. It deserves credit for that. I like what *very* little is here. I wish there were more. But man is it an empty, empty experience. Very little content, zero worldbuilding of any kind. I…

A bit of a let down. The game advertised itself as a cozy survival base builder with the ability to automate. Which are my three favorite genres, so I was very excited leading up to released. What they delivered could be better described as a wonky base builder with semi-automated chores and an annoying hunger meter. On the base building: - A ton of really cool assets - Placement controls are terrible - None of the assets you would think snap snap, and there's no grid - You can't build…

I'm a bit confused and disappointed. After 4 years of waiting, we get a game with about 20 hours of playtime for the 350,000 euros you earned from it? 3 years ago I wrote that it was a scam, and I was right. The full version is exactly the same as the demo that came out a few months earlier. I thought the full version of the game would have at least 1-2 new features, but nothing, zero. Is this some kind of joke? Plus, the price. Every new game comes out with a discount, but not you. You're…

This game has an incredible atmosphere, some cool designs and overall cozyness that we were promised. Then why "Negative"? Because the game is RAW. This truly, TRULY, feels like an extremely early access game. It has some good ideas, but is just very unfinished. A few examples: Storage doesn't auto-stack when tossing things in a container unless you click the button to sort. Auto-move all doesn't take things out of the hot bar. Storage chests are VERY small for the amount of things we need to maintain. Farming is a pain. The pads dry out CONSTANTLY. I was spending more time just watering than playing. And the resource grow very, very…

I wanted to love this game, I really did, I waited for it for a long time (years? I think?) but I just cannot recommend it. - Zero story - Island feel random generated but they're hand crafted (Nothing interesting on them and no reason to go back to most of them) - No compass when flying - A LARGE portion of my time played (I'd say roughly 30-40% of it) was just standing around waiting on crops to grow so we could progress - Almost no avatar customization which doesn't matter I guess because…

This game does not do anything mechanically more interesting than other survival games. You are in for a 20+ hour loop of pick stuff up, combine it with other stuff to unlock the next part of the game, and repeat. What sets it apart is the "Solar Punk" aesthetic, which is what I bought it for. I wanted to live the fantasy of having a self sustaining existence somewhere with nice views. On that the game delivers.

I had this game on my wishlist since November 2021, so writing a negative review genuinely hurts. I have been looking forward to it for almost five years, followed its development, and played through the entire demo when it was first released. This is a game that probably should have been early access. These are the kind of developers who expects you to go to their Discord for update notes. Which is really dumb since the game is published on Steam, not Discord. It's a shame really. I wouldn't have bought the game based on that alone.

I've never wanted to write a negative review for a game so badly. The game is not terrible, but I wouldn't have been so mad if it was worth its price. At its current stage, it's worth $10 at most. I was expecting a lot more from a full release. At this point, the game feels like early access at best. This is not worth its price at all, for over $20, I expected a much more polished game: The animations are stiff. There are too few sound effects for actions. For example, taking damage is just…

I give this game a thumbs up but it’s a reluctant thumbs up. Here’s why. The game is fine. It’s average. It’s not broken, it’s not complicated or badly designed. But it’s a reluctant thumbs up because I personally don’t feel it’s worth its asking price. There’s simply nothing new or innovative in its gameplay, its graphics, its sound, its idea or pretty much anything. Incredibly disappointing. Definitely not a 1.0 release. More of a proof of concept than anything. I doubt the original plan was to release a boring and flavorless game where the main draw takes over an hour to get to. This game feels allergic to standing out. Charming and whimsical. It felt nice to play initially although a bit buggy. It was until it came time to get on an your first airship only to realize that your companion cannot ride with you on your airship you just built. It turns out to be a choice by the developer to make it so you can't ride on the same airship and honestly that is the reason I would not recommend this game. There is a mediocrity inherent to the design of this game, but there is a beauty in that. There are no distractions. No NPCs you have to catch at a certain time of day but you have no idea where they are. Your only goals are whatever you need for the next upgrade. When you head to an area you do what you need to do and then get out. Aside from a trade robot you won't see anyone else (unless you're playing multiplayer). You're not going to spend an hour creating a character you'll never see…

This game is pretty boring. Its essentially Ark, without the fun of dinosaurs. The co-op is not very good either. The ships couldn't be used at the same time and also couldn't be docked at the same time at the same place. It was rather disappointing for the price. Water was an issue too. It would rain for days and days but then wouldn't for a long time and you would get thirsty without an option to resolve it. I have played better games for free on roblox

This game has no depth! I wish i could know more about different islands.... And no emotes?? whyyy XD Having said that I did enjoy crafting, farming and exploring different islands with airship. It is really fun and enjoyable. It also did run really well on my potato laptop. No doubt the game is gorgeous! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3742931549 But this game feels so incomplete. I was expecting a LOT MORE. It is so overpriced. I hope they add more islands and…

I played on relaxed mode, didn't see the incentive to stress about food and storms and inventory loss. no pressure, no demands, no time crunch, just gentle self directed game play unlock all the things, explore all the places, build what you like Gathering resources can be slow going, I enjoyed the pace. This was a chill game for decompressing and slowing down. Don't look away when flying though! Flying needed all my attention!

Probably not worth the 20 dollar price tag. I was excited for the release of this game after enjoying the demo, but I was disappointed pretty early on when the gameplay was exactly the way the free demo was, just with more things you had to do. My only real motivation for playing was trying to get past the "hard beginning part" so I could write a fair review, but hours later I think I will leave it at "It's okay." I think that unless you have 20 bucks laying around you should wait to get this…

EDIT: I've switched form a soft recommend to a simple straightforward, recommend. I've left my previous review below because I'm not sure if my increased enjoyment of the game stems from the game improving as you progress further, or from a potential patch that improved resource generation speeds or lowered the cost of upgrades. Either way, it's a lot less tedious now than when I first was playing, and I find myself with a lot more things with which I can occupy my time in an enjoyable way.…

While the concept for the game is pretty interesting as of right now it feels very skin and bones. I know it's in early access, but there's not too much to the game if you aren't taking things super slowly. I do enjoy the idea and am hoping down the line it changes and becomes more than it is now. A lot of emptiness on the islands, the automation comes basically near the end of the game, and somethings feel very stiff. Pros: -Decent environmental art-style -Unique concept of airship travel…

I have to say no to this game for the moment. Only for one reason. The multiplayer is soft locked for all but one player. Other players can not ride in airships. Airship upgrades are not shared across the whole group. Airship upgrades are tied to trades with the trader, which are not universally granted. Because of this, all but one person can get beyond the first island. I cannot recommend this game in its current state, Until this soft lock is fixed at least.

It’s sad, but coming across a survival/crafting game like this in 2026 is surprising. There’s no exploration, no surprises; all you do is gather new resources to get more resources. Every building requires a ton of materials. Most of them mainly take time, as they discourage manual gathering with a pickaxe in favour of automation. But it’s automated in name only. It’s so long, and I mean very long. I spent more time watching my wheat grow than actually playing. And there’s nothing to do in the…

I really wanted to like this game, but this itoration of the it (full release!) feels more like a demo. There's not enough content or mechanics to keep you playing. The world itself consists of less than 10 small islands which can be explored in 20 minutes total. Basically, the steam trailer for the game shows EVERYTHING the game has to offer. Unfortunately, I must say that this game is not worth its money. Really hope that the developers spend more time to invest in the product and make it…
