Mirror’s Edge (2008) remains for me today a deeply nostalgic experience that hits right in the chest. It hasn't aged a single day. One of the greatest games I've ever played. There are not enough words to express just how much I love this game. The visuals, the gameplay, the level design, the music, the audio design, everything just works so well. It may be short, but the movement alone is enough to make the game endlessly replayable for me. 10/10

I've wanted to play this one since I first saw it in magazine covers back in 2009. Finally got around to it. It's an incredible experience gameplay wise and has a story that could have more nuance. However, gamers were right about this one. The further you get in the story, the more frustrating the combat is. Still, happy I got to play this.

84% of the 260 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Mirror's Edge™. The complaint that keeps coming up: frustrating combat sections. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

Mirror's Edge received "generally favorable reviews" from critics, according to the review aggregator website Metacritic. The Windows version was considered superior to its console counterparts due to its more accurate controls and extra graphical features such as PhysX effects. Game Informer described Mirror's Edge as an inspiring and "genre-defining" game, while Computer and Video Games called it "an extraordinary and special game", stating that it takes fatigued first-person mechanics into a new and daring direction. Other reviewers were not as positive towards the game. Eurogamer considered Mirror's Edge a very divisive game, with both gaping flaws and moments of brilliance. Edge felt…

Every time I see screenshots of this game on the Internet or some similar art in terms of colors, I feel a sense of nostalgia. Oh, I want to play it again. Once upon a time, games were really cool and you wanted to play them over and over again. Now I don't even want to play for more than 2 hours in all this modern garbage of companies. Where there is nothing but a 30-100-hour-long plot.

There isn't much to say about this classic. It is a pioneer of parkour games and one of the best in the genre. The level design is fantastic, and it is highly satisfying from both visual and artistic standpoints. The story is also excellent. All in all, it is a wonderful game that offers a short yet memorable experience.

IMPORTANT: BEFORE LAUNCH, LOWER YOUR BRIGHTNESS in your monitor settings. And reduce contrast too. If you like me prefer dark/dim mode in most of apps and windows. Launching this game can cause temporary blindness. So I advise you to do this. The perfect values for me is brightness 38, contrast 20. Or 22 and 16 if I playing this at night time. But it really depends on your monitor. Sorry, this is not a review. Just an advice. Don't judge me.

This game has stood up well to the test of time and it still looks great. Glad that Nvidia added back 32-Bit PhysX support for this game and other titles. If you want to unlock the frame rate there is a discussion in the forum showing you how to do it. It's very easy and only requires you change a couple of lines in the configuration file. Hey kiddo, Handsome Jack here... and I just played Mirror's Edge, and apparently somebody looked at the concept of running errands and thought, “You know what this needs? Parkour, authoritarian governments, guns, and one extremely athletic woman who refuses to use doors like a normal person.” Finally, innovation. You play as Faith, a runner who spends her days jumping across rooftops, sliding under pipes, climbing buildings, and generally treating gravity like a polite suggestion. And…

easily one of the greatest games of all time. it starts out good and gets better every time you play. i love the visuals (and who doesn’t?) but honestly i think the sound design is just as big a factor in the experience of playing this game; the feeling of wind washing over your face, the slap of your hands on the pipes. it feel so visceral, and connects you to Faith in a way that few games can manage. as someone who’s into parkour stuff irl, this game is the best distillation of the feeling…

Back when DICE were allowed to be creative and provide something new, while its not an open world compared to the sequel, its levels here are designed so well with this in mind and its an absolute blast. Also its 2d animation is so unique as well, it does a great job of establishing its identity

One of my favorite games of all time has to be Mirror's Edge. I genuinely love this game with all my heart. The aesthetics are unforgettable — that clean, minimalistic city with bold splashes of red guiding your path was unlike anything else at the time. The art style still feels fresh even years later. The movement is what really makes it special though. Running across rooftops, chaining wall-runs, vaults, and perfectly timed jumps together feels so smooth and satisfying. When you get into…

Overhated game in an overhated generation of video games. Haters don't know it's supposed to be trial-and-error. The 7th generation is literally the peak of gaming: before microtransactions took over everything, before each and every game was essentially just a walking simulator (yes, I hate RPGs, fite me), and back when there was a lot of innovation and change happening in gaming. This game is a great example of that innovation. It's very unique, like a lot of games from that generation were.…

The game absolutely has the sauce However that sauce is buried under less-than-half-baked combat, disarms, story, basically everything it does except visuals and movement but then even the movement is buried under questionable controls. Some stuff I could chalk up to skill issue, other stuff that genuinely baffles me. You will have a frustrating, great, frustrating time. I don't regret the purchase or the playthough, but at the same time I'm glad it's over.

Still unsure what material to use for the lids though, also, the largest part of the work besides planning is still left, as all remaining seams need to be done by hand. Mirror's Edge is a fun, challenging first-person platform game. Sadly, this game was released in a time period where bad ports were the norm. Luckily, the community made a mod called: Mirror's Edge Tweaks. It unlocks higher FPS, higher resolutions, and more extensive graphic settings. It makes the game a lot better and smoother. The game looks really gorgeous for a game from 2009 with the mod. The soundtrack is amazing.

Highly recommend. I actually played through it twice just because it's that good. And for a game this old it genuinely holds up very well. I was blown away. If you get random freezes or crashes try disabling PhysX if you are on any RTX card. The PhysX engine was built for the old GTX cards so it can conflict with modern drivers sometimes. Again, it varies, but if you get crashes don't let that be why you refund. There are solutions. This game is truly a masterpiece.

Being one of the first PC games i played on a crappy Dell pre-built, Mirror's Edge gives more than just the free run freedom it advertises. Replayable to the point of exhaustion and an enticing enough story to actually care about Faith even when it seems that a simple parkour game couldn't do much more than "run and jump".

Every couple of years, I reinstall and replay Mirror's Edge from start to finish. There is no other game like it for me. Short, sweet, stylish. There is barely an ounce of fat on this baby. It is exactly what it wants to be.

I played the game for Play or Pay 3rd Cycle of 2026 and it was picked for me by Menels. Mirror's Edge was a game I bounced off hard back on the Xbox 360. I remember trying it years ago, hating it, and giving up pretty quickly. Coming back to it now again with a lot more gaming experience under my belt, I had a much better time. The parkour is still a really cool concept, and when everything flows together, it feels great. That said, the game definitely shows its age. The combat is still…

This game introduced me to the world of amazing ambient music from artists such as Solar Fields (who made the soundtrack for this game), AES Dana, Cell, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Miktek and so on.

I made a video essay on this game for a college final. Mirror's Edge is probably one of the most underrated and influential games of it's era. That said, I probably wouldn't recommend it to a modern audience. The game is a product of it's time and definitely shows it's age. That said, I encourage anyone that's interested to try it out.

It's amazing!! Pumps the adrenaline through my veins like crazy. The soundtrack is great, the graphics obviously a bit outdated, but thanks to its amazing visual style it doesn't really matter. Some cool characters, interesting story, nice movement mechanics. I will surely play the sequel as well.

The parkour is fun at times but there are a lot of sections with clunky movement. The combat is unforgivable. It takes out all the fun and flow out of an otherwise ok game.

One of the most stylish game I have played in a while. Game mechanics are smooth for a game made more than a decade a go.
