Several years ago, we were promised controller support. That never materialized. So I'm calling it. I've sat on this game, installed, for those several years. There is no controller support. It is unreasonable to expect anyone to mod their own in (it feels like "just one game" but it quickly becomes the sum total of every "just one game" that does this to people). This game is simply unplayable if you have limited …

Essentially, Wayward is an island survival sim. TLDR: Nostalgic old-school crawl with modern flair that should be in every gamer's library. Way under-priced, so it's a steal. Constantly tweaked and updated. And it's just bloody fun! Wayward has held a place in my heart since I first played the browser version nearly a decade ago. I was enthralled with what it was and what it could be. There's something nostalgic and reminiscent of the games I played as a child, like Ultima and Wizardry. Wayward is a turn-based survival roguelike, and…

Interface, interface interface. Why does stuff not stack in your inventory, just gives me finger RSI from all the scrolling. Why if i have an axe equipped do i still need to go to my inventory to use it. Only gave it a quick play, but immediately got turned off this by what feels like an interface that was designed to be obtuse.

This ia a great game with a lot of potential but it has a fatal flaw, zero navigation tools, the map you CAN make in the game is pretty useless and since the camera is top down your limited vision makes normal navigation a chore, couple that with all the areas looking very repetetive within a location you have a recipe for being lost VERY easily and once that happens its basically hopeless finding your way back. im sure the developer doesnt want to hear this but the game needs better…

I want to enjoy Wayward, but it fails at the most important aspect of crafting games: Interface. Item icons are extremely difficult to tell apart, there are way too many of them and simple actions are too convoluted. It's a shame, because clearly a lot of work has been done to make it customizable, but as it stands the game is painful to play. A big design flaw for a game like this is the crafting recipe discovery. You will only gain the recipe after gathering the necessary items, but your…

I've had this game for years, but I never got into it because it just throws you in the deep end and the wiki wasn't super helpful for a long time. For some reason, though, it always called me back even though I would usually fumble around and die before I actually got anything done. The past few days though, on probably my fifth try on learning this game, it all clicked and I started to understand what it's all about, and I've been loving every second of it! How tolerant are you of clunky controls and primitive graphics, and how much do you value player agency? If the answer is "who cares," and "a lot" in that order, then you've found the game you want to play next. If you want more depth than this, you're going to be looking to games like Dwarf Fortress and Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead/Brighter Nights, both of which have more-primitive UIs, clunkier controls, and similar graphics. Wayward's greatest weaknesses relative to these is that it lacks…

There are many different island types and biomes, the adventuring and the mystery and the variety of items is intoxicating. There's so much to explore! It's generally well tested and stable too! Never had any significant bug.
The cons...
A…

Great pixel art survival game, keep coming back from time to time as they are still working on it. Love that kind of persistance so highly recommended.

A criminally underrated game. It is such a good concept with great implementation. The exploration and discovery is such a great and well thought out experience. Developer gives consistent updates and it shows as a true labor of love on their part. <3

It's like a middle ground between Caclysm: DDA and Unreal World. This is one of those games that has been getting loving updates throughout the years, and it seems to be in a pretty good place now. The QoL features necessary to keep these types of games enjoyable are present, and I keep finding myself surprised by the attention to details in the controls that makes such a big difference in playability.

Rough game in the beginning, but once you learn all the systems and quirks it has, it is a good game with a lot of potential. If you want to play with friends, I recommend first playing a singleplayer game because the time stops if you don't do anything (classic roguelike/turn based gameplay) so you have time looking at the tooltips of items and the crafting menu (it is kind of like Terraria crafting, you will discover the item craft if you have some materials to craft it, no need to have all…

Fun game with friends. Controls take a little bit to get used to but are fine once you do.

I don't love it, but that's because it doesn't play like you think it would. Pop up windows. and more pop up windows.... and more pop up windows.... never ending for any action, pop up windows... If you can survive the infinite Pop Up Windows, you might find some fun in there....I wouldn't know. If you think you can chop a tree without a Pop Up Window, you will be saddened. I wish I could explain it better, than just saying Pop Up Window....but that's the core fo this game. Pop Up Window. You…

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Gameplay before graphics.

A very fun realistic survival game where you are forced to live off an abandoned island. There are fantasy elements to the game too. The game is extremely difficult and you end up spending time figuring out how to do even simple things like how to start a fire due to its complex crafting and action systems. But there is a lot of fun to figuring out everything which makes your playtime longer than what you felt. I kind of like the fact that this is a very unpopular game meaning there aren't…
