The Game starts off pretty great! The movement feels very tight and rewarding, like it should in a platformer, but i've never seen a game throw out so much quality in such a short time span which is really a shame because i was really enjoying it. As i've said, the beginning is absolutely fine (World 1-3) but everything after that just feels off, especially the water levels because they basically get rid of the …

You think you like the game because of its simple, fun platforming and beautifully weird aesthetics/music, but, then you get to the "Water World." My God... the developers took the most hated aspect of platforming, being underwater, and somehow found a way to make it more annoying and un-fun (these were also the longest levels to play compared to the other levels before them). When you enter water, your speed warps …

From someone who plays a lot of plat-formers, I can say that this game is a real treat to look at and play. The game play starts really simple in world 1, but gradually amps it up nicely the more you play. My only complaint is that most of the underwater levels are not fun to play simply because its really slow to move. Also I would like it if it would display the boss's health so I would know how close I am from …

An infuriating but fun psychedelic platformer that has great ART to it (make sure to check out the 'Trading Cards' artworks), a fitting soundtrack, and fluctuating difficulty. It goes berserk at one point and then there's no going back. There is a great learning curve tho but none of it matters if you don't figure out the timing. Get your kaleidoscope ready and play this game if you love trippy challenging …

Spinch is a Psychadelic 2D platformer, and although I’m giving it a thumbs down, its honestly not a bad game and there is definite appeal for players who like these types of games. It’s just that the movement controls made me want to throw my controller out the window. Pros: -2D platformer with precise controls, I hate the movement drift but it does give you a lot of freedom and versatility. Besides getting briefly …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fine example of why Steam needs a "Maybe" recommendation. I was intrigued by the description and striking visuals, which in game are indeed very cool and interesting to look at. But I have a hard time truly recommending this after playing through the first couple worlds. The controls are tight as claimed, but traversing the levels just doesn't feel all that interesting and that's what let the whole thing down. Maybe this improves in later worlds but I really shouldn't have to put up with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a huge fan of Jesse Jacobs' work, I was very excited to check out a game based in his world of psychedelic colours and shapes. Unfortunately the game feels half baked and amatuerish at times. The platforming is ok, but doesn't have the feel of a Super Meatboy or Celeste. The dash adds some variety to the gameplay but can be frustrating to use sometimes. This is on top of occasional frustrating bugs, like platforms not resetting when respawning at checkpoints, being killed instantly as there…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really digging this game so far. The controls are snappy and the music and art direction are on point. The first world eases you in to a lot of the gameplay skills you'll need, but the difficulty starts to ramp up in the second world. So far I'd say I would definitely recommend this game to people who like challenging, fast-paced platformers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →after reading other reviews of glitched achievements and janky controlls, i thought you know what, its a small studio, people might be expecting too much from it, lets give it a shot! What a frustrating mess of a game Pro's : the art style is unique and eye catching, its vibrant and each level looks like a lot of effort and care went in to the design. The Story is easy to understand with no in game dialog needed. The mechanics of collecting something in a level, to then use it later on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Input delays create unnecessary frustration, transforming simple jumps into deadly challenges and draining the enjoyment from gameplay. The game's content feels shallow. After an hour, the increasing difficulty level merely recycles the same mechanics without introducing fresh elements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Difficulty: This is a hard game. Most of the time it is hard because it feels like you cannot control your character. Sometimes there are things off screen that you are supposed to time correctly but you can't because they are off screen. There is also a glitch where you randomly get stuck in the floor and you lose all your momentum. Some platforms make you lose momentum when you get to the edge of them. Some sections the game are pretty much impossible to not to get hit by something.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game feels great movement wise and the first few levels really start off good but as soon as the game decides to switch things up and add new mechanics it starts to gets kinda annoying to play. The reason for this is that the further into the game they introduce more and more things that slow you down and forces you to either wait for or gently float along with gaps between enemies. I wouldn't mind if there was levels like this every once in a while but after the first world it really just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spinch's psychedelic visuals might draw your interest at first, but you will quickly find that the gameplay does not live up to the same expectations. It's sad, because I really wanted to like this game, as the platformer genre is one of my favorites. I've played many ruthlessly difficult platformers such as Celeste, so I know from experience that for the difficulty to feel "fair," the core game mechanics need to be polished to a sheen. Spinch, however, is a farcry from that level of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game at the first glance, but it turned out my first impressions were wrong. Yes, it is colorful. Yes it looks happy. But only looks. A good platformer must have good level design, but this game doesn't have any level design better than corridors with timings. Levels look stylish, but feel empty when you play them. The game would be alright if only levels were a bad thing though. Spinch lacks polish. There are a ton of bugs here and there, to the point that you can get softlocked and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's so lovely and controls very well. But everything pulses and it makes me dizzy-ish. :( I'm going to give this a thumbs-up though because it OOOOOZES style and I think it's insanely well crafted. I just can't literally make myself ill playing games anymore, I'm too old :P
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a buy only if you are interested in the trippy music/artstyle as a 2d platformer is mediocre - controls are not tight enough and boss fights are pretty lame
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game can be fast and that's when it's at it's best. but the water level made me quit. long sections without save points and waiting around over and over again for unfair water physics was just too much. art is great, game is simple and frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't figure out until level 5.3, but I was playing in about half speed the whole entire time. I know, I'm stupid. The reason? Having my monitor set to 170hz, or anything not 60. Other than that ruining pretty much the whole experience, great game. Hilariously weird art style, and snappy controls. That is, once I set my monitor to 60hz. Also, the water levels? Absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nah, not for me. Seems fairly buggy, momentum is sort of all over the place, music sucks. Graphics are nice and the designs are really cool, but the Meatboy-esque gameplay is super uninspired and not that much fun due to handling and level design.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphics is amazing and I really wanted to enjoy this game. And I did till the level 4... But after the game started to get harder and harder. Level 6 is simply unbeatable! Maybe devs can consider few simplifications like: 1. Don't let any enemy kill from single attempt (like those blobs on level 6). It's just unfair, we have hearts, why would someone simply kill you straight away? 2. Add more checkpoints . 3. Maybe split the level 6 into sub-levels Otherwise, we had a pretty…

neutral · AI labelView post →Was more or less vibing with this game until World 6, at which point an enemy is introduced that requires near perfect movement to avoid in some sequences. However, the player character physics aren't exactly consistent here, from losing wall bounce momentum randomly to suddenly stopping on flat surfaces for no reason. It single-handedly diminished any interest I had in completing the game. I just don't care anymore. Oh yeah, the horizontal acceleration in the water levels is horrible too.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-One of the first games where I actually hated the OST and sound effects. Every noise in this game sounds terrible. -The Aesthetic is cool, but it is not nearly enough to carry the game. -Level design from start to finish is incredibly repetitive and boring. -Player movement is solid but pretty simplistic. I made it to about half way through the 4th world before throwing in the towel on this one. A lot of people in reviews mention that the game starts off great and gets bad after world 3, I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the true definition of visual candy. 11/10 artstyle and ideas everywhere you look. The levels are interesting, the platforming is nice and the movement is feeling good. The difficulty curve is also well managed and has some nice linear scaling to it as you progress. I'd literally buy this game just to look at it a be totally mesmerized, so the fact that I can actually play it is a nice bonus and I absolutely recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of people have complained about refresh rate issues on high refresh monitors, but this is hardly the only game that suffers in that department. If you invest in that arena, like 4k, you should expect issues with many games and suck it up, so I'm willing to ignore such gripes and blame. The devs have said they'd like to fix it, but they can't because gamemaker won't fix it. For me, with a normal, 1080p, decent graphics card, decent pc setup, the game still runs at an akward FPS that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's bad. But it's a sincere kind of bad. It's not trying to be le epic ironic sh!tpost like cruetly squad. So I can respect that. Apparently it was made with canadian tax dollars too, but as far as i know shrooms still aren't legal there so I'm not sure who the target audience for this game is. Anyways that's all for now. game sucks, dont bother
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's cute.. but difficult, It's also colorful... yet difficult, And of course it's also frustrating... despite being difficult, 6/10 Did I mention that it's annoyingly difficult? P.S. The checkpoint positions in this game are the worst. also the first few levels aren't that bad
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wonky delayed controls, wonky hit box, super linear choreographed waste of time. Bought it because I like the illustrator's work. but the game is so rigid and infuriating that even that goes out the window.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on LSD. 11/10 would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Colors eat your babies. Use babies to destroy colors. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I 100% love this game. The few bugs and glitches that are expected aren't even a bother. They will be fixed and all that. The music is AMAZING (I know the guy who made it as well), the art, style, graphics are lovely. Very colourful and very friendly. The levels are unique, the world different from the next one and its sooo challenging. Makes me rage but in a good way usually! If there is no challenge, theres no overall satisfaction in it. I can't recommend this game enough to anyone who are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the visual styling of the game, and the level design for the first few worlds is pretty good. It's fun up until world 4 which is almost entirely underwater based. The under water controls are extremely slow unless you dash, but the dash gives a lot of momentum, which is very hard to control while underwater. It's also worth mentioning that every boss fight functions the same. The music is also lack luster. If you're looking for a simple platformer to waste a few hours on, this is an…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really suprised to see a game with the same art style and background as the book by Jesse Jacobs, then I learned it was created by the man himself and technically making this game a spiritual successor to the book's universe itself and i was even more suprised. Anyways, the game itself is a decent platformer if you like them. The controls might feel a bit stiff but not to the point where levels are painful to beat. Its a platformer with a slap of psychedelic paint pretty much and wears those…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is locked at 45 fps for some reason. it's unplayable and i requested a refund. if the developers don't want to uncap the framerate, they could've at least locked at 60 fps at a minimum. this is a day 1 bug and to this date it was not fixed. the *solution* presented by the developers is to lower the refresh rate in the monitor settings to 59 Hz. really? in 2021??
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a wannabe speedrunner and someone who loves a palm-sweat inducing platformer, Spinch is a perfect choice. It's a high-challenge, precision platformer set in a super psychedelic and colorful world full of wonderfully weird obstacles. Each level prepares you for the next set of obstacles or mechanics, but none of the levels lets you off easy! The game also retains a high replay value, encouraging for us completionists. I'd also add that the soundtrack is great!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please do yourself a favour and play a different platformer. Spinch starts off pretty nice, the controls felt a bit floaty from the start, but nothing you can't get used to after a level or three. But unfortunately it doesn't give you more than three levels before the level design starts degrading. Even in the first world, the level design is sometimes very confusing, and that's without the gimmicks that make some of the later worlds borderline unbearable. This game has the worst underwater…

neutral · AI labelView post →I became completely immersed in the world of Spinch - the psychedelic visuals, the trippy and catchy music, and the adorable Spinch designs. The platforming feels responsive, and the variety of levels is fantastic, although I feel later levels ramp up difficulty way too much. Overall I enjoyed my time with Spinch, it was completely worth playing!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is, in its essence, a short to medium length 2D platformer with obviously tons of colors, and awesome animations. Music is alright most of the times, but does get annoying/repetitive, especially within the longer stages. As far as the controls go, they are a tad unusual for the genre (definitely more floaty than what you'd expect), but simple enough to get used to quickly. The quality of the level design varies tremendously. The first three worlds work well in general, albeit there is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trippy, visual platformer that is more flash than substance.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 fun at first but bonus levels are all the same audio is a short loop bosses seem to all be almost the same weird bug i ran into once where i died and respawned at the start of the level after hitting 3 checkpoints
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is kinda cool but overall boring, a bit frustrating and there are better alternatives. The weirdness is fresh, the controls are fine and smooth, the levels mostly ok although i felt too uninspired and short. The game seems to be targetted towards speed runners more than jump and run players. I prefer the latter and despise the former. Which is possibly why i dont like it too much. The boss battles especially feel stupid. You unlock special levels where you have to catch things…

Absolutely incredible, trippy, and beautifully gorgeous pixel art. I also really enjoy it as a platformer too and love the level designs. There are a couple bugs here and there, but not bad. The music is also cool...at first, but after a little while I turned it off because it become annoying. Still a lot of fun! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The demo alone sold me on this game. Very tight controls and some lovely precision platforming mixed with a touch of exploration. Obviously the visuals are fantastic and burn into your retina (in a good way). Haven't quite figured out what the purpose of collecting the sugar cubes is and was a little disappointed that you couldn't replay the bonus stages (although I understand the decision). Overall a solid platformer that I'm enjoying very much.
