Players praise Splasher as a tight, fun platformer with unique ink mechanics. [1][2][3] Some find the controls inconsistent and the late-game difficulty frustrating. [4][5][6] Many recommend it, especially on sale, for its challenging but rewarding gameplay. [7][8][9]

This game is fun casually but that is as far as it gets. If you intend to play this to get 100% achievements I would highly recommend against it. The controls can't be changed unless you use Steam's input remapping, which is the only reason I still have not dropped this game. The game is buggy and glitchy, the aiming and controls can be inconsistent with input lag that happens often enough to ruin runs. I can't …

Splasher is an absolute platforming gem, with varying levels of challenge tailtored to how you want to play it. The gameplay is akin to the likes of super meat boy and celeste but with a bit more going on, in addition to traditional running and jumping, there are 3 sprays to control, water, red ink and yellow ink, these 3 are absolutely integral to the gameplay and the game slowly introduces these mechanics allow …

Splasher is the best platformer i have played in a long time. It is a momentum based platformer that uses gels as its main mechanic. These gels make you stick to walls, bounce off them and also kill/manipulate enemies. Splasher does so many things right, the most important one being its levels. Almost every level introduces new mechanics and uses them to their full potential. Difficulty and its curve is perfect. …

easy to learn, hard to master. this is a great platformer with tight controls and clever level design. it's very much built for speedrunning. if you like Celeste, I highly recommend this

I bought this forever ago and only recently tried it out, and I kinda wish I had sooner. This definitely feels like a hidden gem that I feel like nobody talks about. It has a bit of everything in it. Its kinda like Super Meat Boy and Pizza Tower with a bit of Mario Sunshine. Platforming is fun and when you get used to the weight of your character you can really fly thru these levels. Story, Graphics, Music, etc. are …

Critics, per Wikipedia
Splasher received "generally favorable reviews" from critics on Metacritic. Kevin Mersereau of Destructoid stated that, "The shadow of Super Meat Boy can be felt in almost every aspect of this game, but it introduces enough new mechanics to really make itself stand out from its inspirations." He then said, "The Switch may be jam-packed with quality eShop titles right now, but Splasher is genuinely something special." Nintendo Life's Mitch Vogel stated, "Created by some staff that worked on the likes Rayman Legends and Rayman Origins, Splasher works as a brilliant callback to that style of twitch platforming while adding in a little bit of Splatoon to make something that's rather fresh."…

Overall Rating - High Quality ★★★★☆ First Impressions Splasher (SP) has a very unassuming title, and although I think it'd fit gameplay like the Splatoon series better, I understand where it's coming from. neutral · AI labelView post →Tentative Recommendation Fast-paced action platformer that combines the plot of Abe’s Oddysey, the frenetic precision platforming of Super Meat Boy, and the structure of Rayman Origins/Legends -- but while it’s decent enough fun in its own right, it never quite reaches the lofty bar set by its inspirations.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The graphics are a bit simplistic, and the character is a bit tiny on the screen, but the gameplay is tight. There's a good variety of levels, with interesting new mechanics introduced every few levels. I played all the way through and enjoyed the whole thing. It didn't overstay its welcome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After getting that first platinum medal on Splasher yesterday on stream, I got speedrunning on the brain. What will my next game to speedrun be? I've done full runs of Little Nightmares 1, Descenders(both on Speedrun . com leaderboards,) & LIMBO(i got the 5 or less deaths trophy)
positive · AI labelView post →Yeah, just getting a bit tired of the roguelike preset :D Oh I don't think I know Splasher, looks like it would be a fun 'on the go' kind of a game on the Vita/Switch! Thanks! :)
positive · AI labelView post →An excellent 2d platformer with Portal 2 like paint mechanics! Even at full price this game is well worth buying. I also highly recommend Tinykin a 3d platformer by the same devs that is like a Pikmin game but it is really fun with smooth platforming fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a straight up bad experience to play on keyboard. control character on wasd aim with arrowkeys and shoot with J L. How????? my hands are not designed for this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, that’s what I meant!!! Frogger was the game, Splasher was supposed to keep us safe. 😂 Steve and I crawled through one of the irrigation pipes to look for frogs once. 😬
neutral · AI labelView post →Performance is pretty bad on a computer that has no issues with any other 2D platformer. Lag spikes makes it impossible to get platinum time attack medals which defeats basically the main point of the game, going fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have previously played this game before on a different platform and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to add this game to my Steam library. I got this on sale (at a ridiculously low price) and it's worth every penny. The ranges of difficulty of the levels is enough for the game to be both challenging and fun. If you enjoy platformer games I highly recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →QUBE 2 is a decent Portal-like Splasher is a fantastic 2D platformer The Stanley Parable is a funny parody of what a video game is Overcooked is a frantic couch-co-op game (no online co-op though, unless you use steam's game streaming feature) Vane is a cool game similiar to games like Journey, Abzu and Rime.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A promising start of the game... The flops horribly when it forces you fight questionable game mechanics, terrible controls, input lag, and mean-spirited "nothing other perfection allowed" level design.... On not just a "timer" but a timer with rubber banding. This means, despite how well do at the first part of sections of a timed area, you don't reap the benefits of speed to use in other parts of the area when you need some time to time stuff right. I was all set to give this a solid…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - Nice graphics and music. - Tight and satisfying gameplay. And this is the best part by far. - Innovative level design. Cons: - Boring game design with hub world and levels you have to unlock by gathering companions on already unlocked levels. This kind of thing should be illegal by now. Even if the unlocks are not that hard, punishing the player from playing new levels is way too old school for a game like this. - Checkpoints way too far from each other and having to repeat huge…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wickedly difficult platformer with a wicked soundtrack to match. The concept is very unique and the graphics are awesome
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game, lot of fun. not very long, but pletty of chalages and timed races
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls like a dream. If you're familiar with Meat Boy, same floaty jump controls here, and you'll be on your way fast. Don't let my short play time as of review steer you away. These type of platformers are all about that sweet feeling of mastery thru perfect control. If you like those games, you'll enjoy this one too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: Messy controls but great overall game. Graphics: I love this aspect. Throughout the entire game it consistently matches the style in the advertising material. Timeless and great to look at. Storyline: Doesn't really exist. There's motives for the actions in the levels, but not much past that. Price: Not the best for me, but potentially better for you. I got around 1 hour of gameplay per dollar spent compared to my usual liking of 2 hours per dollar. Of course, if you're into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed about 18 of the 22 levels in this game. The 4 levels that I disliked were so frustrating that I have to give this a negative review. It's not like it was the final 4 levels that were difficult. These levels are strewn randomly across the 22 levels. I guess if you're not going to collect all the inkorp employees, it's not that bad but if you are, then good luck. Also, having to use the left thumbstick for both movement and aiming feels awful. Whoever came up with this control scheme…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good platforming. It's not frustratingly though, it feels good enough where you feel like you have done something but it's not by memorization and is by actual skill. The collectables are also pretty fun in my opinion but they are not really super special
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm 55% through, and I'm really loving this so far. Really tight, focused platformer. It's immediately evident while playing that the devs have a good understanding of the mechanics and that they know implement them in fun ways. While the levels don't really vary too much visually (which is unfortunate), they all play very differently from one another, so it doesn't feel repetitive. It also has a really good difficulty curve, which is something I rarely see in games period, let alone indie…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome platformer. 100%ing it was stressful but very fun for the most part. For some reason, for the first 35 hours of this game, i hated it. The controls felt weird and inconsistent but after completing all the individual level speedruns i got the hang of it and didn't have much problem. I ended up having the most fun with the full game speedruns. The ink mechanic is very unique and fun, level designs are good, and it felt good to improve, slowly chipping away at my PB until i beat the…

neutral · AI labelView post →Loved this game, I wasn't sure to begin with and having seen some reviews complain the controls are mapped wrong/badly, but once you get through a few levels the controls start to make so much sense. Every level is well designed to teach you the mechanics, gradually adding more and more complexity. I finished all the levels and instantly went back to replay them trying to complete the collectables and work on speed run medals. I'll never get all of the steam achievements but after completing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my all time favorite platformers, I've repeatedly found myself coming back to it again and again over the years. It has a phenomenal sense of kinetic flow that lends itself to speed running. It cribs some portal 2 mechanics in the best way to offer up a fresh spin on the genre that will work your brain more than you expect as you get comfortable with the abilities as they are introduced. Play if you enjoy a challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I may have to make Splasher a game I finish going for the platinum trophy off of stream. I can take getting a bit frustrated on stream but the anger I was feeling is not what I want on streams.
neutral · AI labelView post →My Favourite Debut Game of 2024! NOMINEES: Neon White (Angel Matrix) Splasher (Splashteam) Arise: A Simple Story (Piccolo Studio) WINNER: Tales of Kenzera: Zau (Surgent Studios) This was a fantastic debut from Surgent Studios. Different aspects of it were consistently great!
neutral · AI labelView post →Great design and graphics but the controls are just way too slidy. It's asking for precision jumps and movements and you never land where you are supposed to or you slide off the platform. That doesn't make the game challenging, just frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a hidden gem! This game's speedrunning element is so addicting and fun. With its fast reloading, trying to perfect the game and beat your score is so satisfying. It also allows for experimentation as there are many ways to have off seconds from your run.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun! Frustrating sometimes. But I'm old. Well done.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for the time I spent on this game and getting all the scientists I can say that the game is good. (although some quarantine levels for some reason decide to be over the top in difficulty). overall, 7/10 game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really strong concept, paying homage to the likes of Portal, Super Meat Boy, and Rayman while feeling really fresh and and easy to pick up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not one for precision platformers like Super Meat Boy or Celeste. If it's too hard I can't understand it. But I have found this one to be a good fun time that can have some fustrations, but finally completing a level is quite satisfying. I'm about 17 levels out of 22 through it at this point and starting to struggle a bit. A good fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of those games where you struggle more with the controls than anything else. The control scheme (on controller) where you run and aim with the same joystick just doesn't work. By far my most deaths were due to me trying to aim and shoot something which makes me run in an unwanted direction and at that point the deaths don't feel like my fault anymore which makes it frustrating. Remapping controls is also not possible. The actual platforming is pretty easy and the game actually becomes fun…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →only payed 3 dollars but wish i payed full because man is this game GREAT
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Splasher is a very charming little indie platformer, which if you stick with has plenty of content to offer. It starts off a bit slow, but gets incredibly fun once you unlock the red and yellow inks. Bouncing around with the yellow ink as the screen zooms out is always really satisfying, even in speedruns. On to the content of the game, base completion is quite simple and fun, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique platforming experience. It in a way reminds me of N++…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →quite the decent adventure, Splasher leads you through 22 levels in order to triumph over the evil doctor. In this game, you get a water pack, which gets upgraded as the game goes on. This pack lets you splurt out water, sticking gel, and jumping gel, with the latter two unlocking as you complete levels. The levels are linear, with optional difficult sections in order to save some of your coworkers. The game took me a total of 5 hours to beat, and that includes getting the coworkers, but there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A real hidden gem with very satisfying movement and game design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Coming into this game after just playing Celeste I thought my first impressions of Splasher were going to be negative, however I was quite surprised with how much I enjoyed this game. In short Splasher is like if you combined the platforming of super meat boy with the paint of splatoon and then added in the gel physics from portal 2 and it makes for an extremely fun but somewhat frustrating 2D platformer. The game retails for $14.99 which I think is a bit high but it frequently goes on sale for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is great, mechanics are fun, but the level design is very inconsistent. you'll be having fun one level then the next will be super punishing and would have be better with a few extra checkpoint or a lower difficulty in a few parts. would have recommended if level design was more consistent either all super hard or all feasible, but as it is, it's trying to be both mario and kaizo in the same game and not as an option. feels like two teams were on level design and they had different views…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun gameplay. Unique and is low difficulty. I like it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun platformy game that isn't too long and has some fun level layouts and gimmicks. Though I beat the game and I still have no idea how horizontal momentum works; I died way too many times because I thought I was going somewhere I wasn't.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know why, but Splasher is a very overrated platformer. Probably because the game is on the easy side and probably because most players haven't played it for long. The game consists of 22 levels split into 6 segments each with a checkpoint when the player finishes one. First of all, let's talk about checkpoints. It's not that simple to put a checkpoint and call it a day. You have to design the obstacles around the checkpoint. Here, clearly the devs put minimal thought and as a result…
