Players find Sprout Valley a cute and relaxing farming sim, especially for unwinding. [1][2][3] Many note the game starts slow and feels grindy, but improves with progression. [4][5][6] Some reviewers criticize the lack of content, NPCs, and depth, calling it basic. [7][8][9]

I cant find it in myself to play this game. I love playing farming sims, i love pixel art so this was a no brainer. Sadly it just doesnt offer anything playstyle wise. I find myself asking why i play. Nothing to work towards to, nothing new to explore since the Islands are randomized and the Island you start on is rather small and empty. I unlocked the cellar and dont see any reason to play more, since i miss the …

I want to recommend this game, I really do. You'd think with 32 hours in it, it would be a no brainer. It's a cute little farming sim, where you play as Nico, an anthropomorphic cat, who buys an island and moves to it to live a quiet life and fishing, gardening, and crafting. However, that's about it. You never directly meet the firs NPC you're introduced to, and there are two others, technically: the shopkeeper you …

Like most farming sim games, Sprout Valley starts off very slow. Players start in a small, secluded island with a few packs of seeds to start their farm and a few tickets to travel to mystery islands for resources. In the beginning of game, it felt very lonely and kind of boring - there is no NPCs to interact and build relationships. Even when players travel to other islands, it is rare to encounter an NPC, However, …

I backed this game on Kickstarter for a relaxing farm game as a cute cat, and I got the game I wanted. I love it and I recommend this game to anyone that needs a relaxing game after playing a lot of stressful gameplay of CoD, or F-ing a bear gameplay. I want to edit to add that this game works very well on Steam Deck, and any Linux PC using Proton. I have used the experimental Proton, but you can use the latest …

Feels like a mix of animal crossing and stardew valley, removes the stressful aspect of some farming games and comes with adorable art

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love a good farming sim but this one is just grinding and somehow not enough of it. No quests, no NPCs, just leveling up skills and not a lot of space to work with
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've read some of the thumbs down reviews and can say that while they have a point, they aren't entirely true! It took at least 6 hours (for me), but once you've played Sprout Valley for that long you will unlock many things to do! This game starts off slow, but the music is relaxing and mechanics are smooth which kept me playing :) There is a lot of story if you pay attention and read! If you want a fast progressing game, then maybe this game isn't for you, but there is plenty to do if you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sorry, but no. Not even for the ~3€ I got it for. Yes, it sounds cute, and yes, it looks nice on paper, but it's just lacking in every single aspect. Little kitty is tired of city life, buys property on an overgrown island and is greeted with a pile of 6 tools - we've all been there. The island is small, but you can (for 250g) travel to procedurally generated other islands (which you cannot revisit, only 4 different biomes) to gather resources and sometimes find a random merchant. After a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The pre-sale cost is quite surprising, given that the game itself feels like it's still being developed. I tried to list off some pros but I could only think of one- the game is damn cute. Unfortunately, that's just not enough to make me want to come back. I've never played Stardew Valley but I am partial to a Harvest Moon game and I can't help but draw comparisons. The conceit is more or less the same, as are the mechanics. But where HM shines is in its worldbuilding; you meet villagers,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you farm, fish and chop trees and mine rocks, and go to islands where you do the same thing. That's it, that's literally the whole game, the story at the beginning? it has no ending and the islands get repetitive quick. The NPCs are locked behind a DLC if you like the art, its literally just from a free asset pack called Sprout Lands atleast it only cost me 50 cents on a sale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game feels zoomed in. If you could unzoom it would be more enjoyable but really it seems to only provide 10 hours of gameplay at the moment
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game as a nobrainer clicker to watch some youtube to and for this specific purpose it was okay I guess. Other than that the game is extremely basic with no handcrafted content. Available mechanics are: farming, fishing, crafting and foraging. They are implemented correctly although switching tools could be streamlined and not require dreaded radial menu and one more click to access it. You can farm and fish on your home island and the rest is accessed via travel to other islands.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very basic asset flip farm sim. There's not much to do other than hit rocks, farm, chop trees and fish. You can craft and decorate too, but it's super basic, and a huge grind. There's tons of achievements that you cannot earn because the content isn't in the game. Not sure why achievements were implemented without the content but it sucks. The dev simply bought an asset pack and made a basic game to make some quick money. It's one of the worst cosy games I've ever played in just about every…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Definition of a Grinding Game. That's literally all there is to it. The 'islands' you visit are never the same ones so there's no exploring. There are no real NPCs to talk to. You grow crops, you cook food, fish, break rocks and chops trees. That's it. That's the game. The music gets very repetitive and the 'days' are short. Is it cute? Yes, but that's not enough to sustain a game with these mechanics. If I hadn't got it on sale for less than £4 I probably would have asked for a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game... I mean look at it, it's adorable! But I didn't. The base concept is fine, there's just nothing to it. Wake up, care for crops, travel to random island, cut down trees, break rocks, collect fruit, fish, go home, sleep. Rinse and repeat for 2 hours and I only unlocked a very small amount of recipes to craft some furniture. This game is missing so much content. Which is so disappointing because it's so nice to look at and I'm all for the simplified game play…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very boring and repetitive game. The style is cute but there isn't much to do except grinding resources you don't even feel like spending. The world is super small and there isn't much to do. While there is a hint of a plot it progresses too slowly and I lost interest in this game very fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my singular complaint about the game is that I can't lock my buildings, such as the barn and chicken coops after placing them. I think if that feature was added the game would be perfect. It's terribly frustrating to REPEATEDLY accidentally break the buildings and have to place them all over again, starting the growth process of the animals from zero. @devs Please make it so players can lock buildings in place? I really appreciate the fishing mechanic being ACTUALLY relaxing. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is cute and all, but that's all it has going for it. I was so damn bored, I just couldn't finish it. Felt like a chore. There is practically zero story. Nico, the protagonist, moves to the archipelago and wants to share a starfruit (or whatever) with everyone. That is literally it. There is no other motivation to play except milestone achievements. The gameplay is fine, I guess, so if you're someone who doesn't care about story at all, you could possibly still enjoy this game, but I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I begin, I would like to state that this is NOT a bad game or even mid. I enjoyed this game quite a bit, but I feel as though it's... lacking a lot. As other reviews state, there is a lot of grinding within the game. Once I understood how to farm and explore other (quite small/empty) islands, I would simply just grow crops, cook or juice the crops and sell them before going to bed to get paid. This would have been fine if you only had to do this one or two days every in game week or…

positive · AI labelView post →There were games on sale I bought on impulse that I’ve dumped plenty of hours into. Super Mario Odyssey - bought it while I was waiting for Tears of the Kingdom to release, replayed it at least three times. Same with Mario + Rabbids. Lots of indie games - Slime Rancher, Cat Quest II, both Cattails games, Sprout Valley. All in the replay pile and some of my favorites. Got my money’s worth and then some, plus I wouldn’t have given them a chance if I was hesitant ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
neutral · AI labelView post →way too grindy, little payout, not much to do. i think there are unlockable achievements at the moment too? until there is better/more content, can't recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick Summary: Not recommended at full price. The good: I loved the cute graphics, and concept. The music was fine to listen to and there's no motion sickness. The neutral: I had some fun playing this game, but it's purely just to beat it - this won't be one of those games I will play over and over because it's too grindy. The controls are easy to pick up, but sometimes don't target the area you've selected properly. The plot is simple, but not very immersive The bad: - it looks terrible…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game, I find the gameplay loop relaxing. I recommend it overall, but there are a couple of quality of life features that it lacks. (1) I hate that you can't refill the watering can unless it's completely empty, so instead of planning out your route and pre-filling the can so you don't run out, you have to wait for it to be empty. (2) I don't like that you can't split items from your inventory so like if I crafted 3 lanterns, I have to sell all three of them instead of splitting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sprout Valley is an adorable and relaxing game that provides a perfect escape when you need to unwind. While some may draw comparisons to Stardew Valley, I find it closer in spirit to a simplified version of Animal Crossing, which is refreshingly gentle and uncomplicated. One potential concern I've noticed is the limited inventory space in the beginning but I didn't find it that much of an issue; my advice is to resist the urge to hoard items beyond crafting materials (fiber, wood, stones,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I beat Sprout Valley Anyone wanna see my island? The game was a bit tedious to start (and even still towards the end but not as bad), but once you get a steady stream of income and level up your tools it's pretty fun! I started decorating more/unlocking new companions and and it's all so cute!
neutral · AI labelView post →I play this on my switch, and I'd love to play it via steam link (except that always bugs for me). I have clocked a lot of hours playing. It's such a cozy game to zone out to while you watch a TV show or listen to a podcast. It's a bit repetitive, but that's kind of the point. You can build your own little farm, and i love how customizable it is. The game is very insular, not a lot of NPCs yet (but i believe that's coming in an update), very straight forward. The discord support from the Dev…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a homey, cozy, pixel art farming game. Its adorable and lovely. Its got quite a bit to do and lots of adventuring to do too. I absolutely enjoy this game and the nice and relaxing vibe that it brings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cute and simple game, sometimes that is all you need to chill and shut off your brain
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →58. Sprout Valley I did play this game for like an hour or so and found that it was pretty simple. I do want to get back into it because I heard that it does open up more but I'm not 100% if I want to invest that time
neutral · AI labelView post →Sprout Valley is a decent farm game with cute visuals, great music, okay mouse & keyboard controls, straightforward achievements, sweet dialogues and pretty good game progression in terms of unlocks/keeping things engaging. It’s very basic in the genre with lots of options missing or simplified and it’s precisely why I wanted to get into it. It’s perfect to play a little bit of everyday without feeling overwhelmed. I also love when farm games don’t have anything season bound, you can do/get…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you make iron ingots from stones on a wooden workbench with a hammer additionally, the menus are extremely tedious to navigate with a controller

neutral · AI labelView post →Super cute game but unfortunately very glitchy. Sometimes the main menu screen is stuck overtop the gameplay screen. Or the cursor indicator just completely disappears and you can't get out of your inventory or menus.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very cute cozy game that needs more updates...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very cute and charming game. Personally, I feel like it is a game absolutely made for the switch. Which is were I'll be playing it in the future. Nothing against the pc version, it's just the vibe I got from the short time I've spent with it. Also, I feel like the controls on console are likely better. It feels a little odd on keyboard and mouse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stardew Valley (and its many farm sim clones), Slime Rancher, Balatro, and Chicory: A Colorful Tale are just a few off top of my head. I can delve into my games libraries and list a bunch more lol Edit: From my Steam library alone, mostly what I’ve played lately: - Hello Kitty Island Adventure - Power Wash Simulator - Unbox the Room - Wanderstop And my Switch library: - Moonstone Island - both “Mario + Rabbids” games (puzzle/strategy) - Ooblets - Animal Crossing - Sun Haven -…

When I was looking into buying it I read all the reviews and it seemed like everyone didnt like how it was "grindy" but I think its perfectly balanced. The leveling system makes it rewarding and fun, not knowing what items im going to get when i level up really adds to the over all enjoyment. I have a bad habit of looking through all the levels in games and if I dont see something I actually want in later levels Ill just stop playing all together. I personally dont have…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of Animal Crossing and also farming sims like Stardew Valley, you will love this game. I've only played for an hour so far and I'm in love.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Stardew, Forager, Animal Crossing and similar games, this game is worth buying! It's super cosy with cute graphics and characters. Initially the game starts out quite slow and I wondered if I was missing something but it does progress and it's great fun and quite challenging! TIP: Gather as much wood and stone as you can!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not sure why so many negative reviews. The game is a delight. Yes there is a repetitive loop, sail to island, collect fruit, wood and stone. clay if you are lucky. The charm is the pace, the days might fly by, but you need to be calm. Chop a tree three times and wait, the fruit will come to you, most of the time. Progress might seem glacier for the first few weeks, but why hurry. Just enjoy and delight in the game and it will reward you. It is cozy, but best not to think in terms of Stardew and…

negative · AI labelView post →you can never get full steam achievements
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring. No story.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a cute game about a cat on an island..nothing more to say. if you like cozy cute games definetly get it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not Stardew Valley. It is however a short, relaxing and fun game, with stuff that makes it stand on its own legs, such as island hopping. There are some things that needs googling to figure out, but overall it is a fun and relaxing game. Never during my playthrough did I have the need to change the music or do something else.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and chill game :] Would recommend getting it on sale though, as this being more than 10 is a bit much from what I've seen. But for 3 bucks, this is a steal.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very peaceful game, give it a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →<3 It's the cutest farming sim. It's simple, upbeat, and made with a lot of love and heart. Distilled to what's most fun in these types of games, without all the grind that many of them come with. It's got a sweet and fine balance of what you can do, vs overall complexity andlong-term engagement. Lots of fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super cute game! if you like Stardew, Forager etc you'll really like this game, the little costumes are a nice touch too :) There isnt a whole lot of content i can see the devs coming out with updates so I would say buy the game when its on sale, but it is def a good chill game to play <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game! A COOP would be a nice addition to the already good game!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game will give you quests for NPCs, but it will never let you revisit these NPCs to turn in the quests. You'll feel the frustration of having these quests pile up but never be able to complete them. You visit random islands. You can't decide to visit somewhere specific. Ever! Also, you may randomly get stuck and can't move, and you must call the Rescue service for a hefty $500 charge. Getting stuck and calling for rescue feels like someone added an Unstuck feature for bugs to cover for…
